Donald Trump just offered to destroy a Senator's career on a Texas Sheriff's behalf.

Courtesy of Dallas News:

There's a Texas state senator with a target on his back today, courtesy of President Donald Trump and the Rockwall County sheriff.

At a meeting this morning with sheriffs from around the country, Sheriff Harold Eavenson complained about a state senator for getting in the way of some measures he felt would be helpful.

"Want to give his name? We'll destroy his career," Trump offered.

The sheriff declined, according to pool reporters on hand in the Roosevelt Room and Oval Office at the White House, where Trump met with law officers from around the country.

Eavenson is in line to become president of the National Sheriff's Association in June. He has been active in the Sheriff's Association of Texas.

So the president is now a hitman for hire by any supporter who wants a politician's career destroyed?

How is THIS not an impeachable offense?

Murkowski voted against Devos because it was safe. She knew she could score political points for voting against because Devos would be confirmed by Pence's tie breaker. It was a crafty political move by Murkowski, and she keeps getting voted in up here because Joe Miller always rears his head.

Next time, fuck it, let's have some Joe Miller if he runs again and NOT vote for Murkowski just because she is the lesser of two evils. She hasn't really proven herself to be that, even with this carefully crafted vote.

Her photos, unclothed and partially clothed, have been in magazines and tabloids and on the internet for years. And she was worried about an "escort service" rumor when lots of legitimate questions about her coming to this country and her background have gone unanswered? Besides, what million dollar income should this woman be entitled to now that she is, heaven help us, First Lady? Is she planning to sit in the Green Room at the White House hawking her jewelry line or her caviar-laced cosmetics on Fox News? It's been less than a month since the ignoble inauguration and the country is in dire straits already. What will we be like in six months?

She also lost her dignity when she decided the role of the first lady is to pimp her "products" not made in America.

this had nothing to do with dignity but grifting.

Anon at 2:35 pm. As far as I'm concerned, she lost her "dignity" when she posed largely unclothed in photographs that were shown in magazines and tabloids. She did that for profit. Not behavior befitting a woman who is now First Lady of the United States.

When these rumors started, those behind them apologized and retracted what they had written. That should have sufficed.

She does not need the money; she'd be involved in immense conflict of interest battles if she tried to profit from being First Lady. Just imagine if Laura Bush or Michelle Obama had ever tried to profit personally from their roles. No one would have worried about their "dignity"; they would have been condemned by the media and by everyone else.

"Numerous animal protection groups slammed the change for devastating their ability to do work, but the HSUS may be in a particularly advantageous position to fight for getting the data back. That’s because the HSUS sued the USDA in 2005, alleging the department had violated the Freedom of Information Act by failing to provide records related to animal experimentation in research facilities.

They reached a settlement in 2009, with the USDA agreeing to make numerous records public online. These included information about pain and distress in lab animals.

In a notice sent to the USDA on Monday, the HSUS argues that the department violated their terms of the settlement in deleting their animal welfare records. If the USDA does not reinstate the records, the HSUS will move to get a court order for them to do so, or will reopen the suit, the notice says."

White House Admits They Use Fake News Label To Punish Press That Criticize Trump

Deputy Assistant to President Trump, Sebastian Gorka, said that the White House is going to continue calling the media fake news until the press stops being critical of Trump.

...Any story that criticizes Trump, or that the President does not like is going to be labeled “fake news” by the White House. It seems that the only real news that the White House will accept is stories that praise Trump.

The real point of the Trump White House’s adoption of the fake news term as a weapon is the delegitimation of the free press. The White House is attempting to delegitimize facts and information that they don’t like by labeling them as not real. If President Trump and his team are able to successfully confuse the American people, it will be more difficult to hold them accountable for their actions.

The fake news punishment is more than a way to pressure the press to give Trump positive coverage. The White House is trying to discredit the flow of factual information to the public.

Trump Is Losing The Media War As CNN Isn’t Putting Up With Anymore White House Lies

The Trump White House suffered another defeat in their war with the media today as CNN immediately shot down a Sean Spicer lie about why the network turned down an offer to interview Kellyanne Conway.

...The White House press secretary looked the American people in the eye and lied to them. For any other administration being told that a White House senior adviser lacks the credibility needed to be on cable news would be a problem. For the Trump administration, it is an excuse to lie about the actions of a cable news network.

CNN isn’t putting up with the White House’s daily distortions of truth. I don’t support the limiting of access to information, but the time has come for television networks to evaluate the decision to show White House events live. If an administration is going to use the platform of the presidency dishonestly, the press has a duty to check the White House statements for factual accuracy.

The White House complaints about a lack of respect are only serving to remind reporters to examine Trump at all times with a critical eye because Donald Trump doesn’t want respect. He wants to silence disagreement and dissent.

...Kellyanne Conway then complained about CNN giving too much coverage to Trump’s Muslim ban.

It’s clear that by respect, Kellyanne Conway meant more favorable coverage towards Trump. Press outlets should cover Trump in an even more critical manner now that he is president than they did when he was a candidate. One of the problems in the media coverage of the 2016 election is that too many members of the media didn’t take Trump seriously as a candidate.
