Donald Trump unhappy to discover that being president is a REAL job. Doesn't like it.

Courtesy of Politico:

Being president is harder than Donald Trump thought, according to aides and allies who say that he’s growing increasingly frustrated with the challenges of running the massive federal bureaucracy.

In interviews, nearly two dozen people who’ve spent time with Trump in the three weeks since his inauguration said that his mood has careened between surprise and anger as he’s faced the predictable realities of governing, from congressional delays over his cabinet nominations and legal fights holding up his aggressive initiatives to staff in-fighting and leaks.

The administration’s rocky opening days have been a setback for a president who, as a billionaire businessman, sold himself to voters as being uniquely qualified to fix what ailed the nation. Yet it has become apparent, say those close to the president, most of whom requested anonymity to describe the inner workings of the White House, that the transition from overseeing a family business to running the country has been tough on him.

Trump often asks simple questions about policies, proposals and personnel. And, when discussions get bogged down in details, the president has been known to quickly change the subject — to "seem in control at all times," one senior government official said — or direct questions about details to his chief strategist Steve Bannon, his son-in-law Jared Kushner or House Speaker Paul Ryan. Trump has privately expressed disbelief over the ability of judges, bureaucrats or lawmakers to delay — or even stop — him from filling positions and implementing policies.

I think most of us predicted that this would be the case for Trump way back when he first launched his campaign.

In fact Howard Stern said something about this just last week:

"He really does want to be loved, he does want people to really love him, that drives him a lot. I think he has a very sensitive ego. And when you’re president of the United States people are going to be very, very critica,l and I think in his mind right now he’s saying 'I want to protect the country'… I think his motive is 'People will love me because I’m going to keep terrorists out of the country.' I think he’s genuinely shocked when people come back and say, 'Wait a second, there’s more to this.'"
....

"This is something that’s going to be detrimental to his mental health because he wants to be liked, he wants to be loved, he wants people to cheer for him," he said.

Trump has no fucking idea how any of this works, and simply believed he could bullshit his way through it.

Guess what, he can't.

The Politico article went on to say that Trump has become obsessed with the  unprecedented number of leaks coming out of the White House and that he does not know who he can and can't trust.

In other words after only three weeks Trump is already demonstrating Nixonian levels of paranoia.

I predict that he will have a complete psychotic break in the next couple of weeks.

Assuming of course that he has not already suffered one.

Being president will age Trump like it never has previous men. I expect he will suffer a heart attack or stroke within a year, if he even lasts that long. I hope he survives for a week or two after it happens, so he'll suffer as much as possible.

    THIS IS GODDAM DISGRACEFUL!!!

Japanese Prime Minister Abe and his wife are in DC for a state visit. Typically, while the President and Prime Minister are talking business, the First Lady escorts the visiting wife around DC . . . check out some monuments, visit a school, etc. The Tidal Basin is ringed by a world-class collection of Japanese cherry trees, all grown from original 3,020 cherry trees sent to us by Japan in 1912. Typically, Japanese official visitors are escorted to see the trees, even if they are not blooming.

BUT NOT THIS TIME. OH, NO. Melanoma Trump is too busy in New York with Little Barron Trump . . . she can't be bothered with such mundane tasks as serving as the First Lady. Ms. Abe went about DC by herself, accompanied by some low-level State Department officers.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: The Trump family is white trash all the way. I'm an Old Redneck. I have family members who are white trash and I know trash when I see it. The Trumps may live in a faux-gold-plated penthouse and they may shit in a gold toilet but they are TRASH.

Why is Japan so important? I'll leave it to someone else to discuss the economic ties between US and Japan -- I'll focus on the military side of things.

I retired from the Army in 1995. In the late 1980's-early 90's I was assigned in Japan as the director of a Dept of Defense intelligence operation that actually was a CIA operation under military cover. Japan is, for the US military, an indispensable ally.

      -- 50,000 US troops
-- One Marine Expeditionary Force ready to deploy anywhere on a few minutes' notice
-- 7th Fleet; largest Navy combat organization worldwide
-- 130 Air Force fighters with support aircraft and people
-- Yokota and Kadena Air Bases are home to Air Force transport wings that cover half the globe, not to mention housing intell collection aircraft
-- More US intell organizations operate out of Japan than anywhere else in the world except the DC area
-- Huge stockpiles of everything needed to fight a war in Korea and anywhere else
-- And -- the "Japan Self-Defense Forces" are small but well-trained, equipped with the latest and greatest, high morale, and they are not to be trifled with.

You simply do not embarrass an ally like this.

‘No-brainer’ or no-no? Congress can’t decide if it should obtain Trump’s tax returns

....While Democrats say tax committees in Congress should exercise their authority to request Trump’s federal tax returns from the Internal Revenue Service, Republicans who control Congress have shown little interest in doing so.

The three committees do not need permission from Congress as a whole to review tax records behind closed doors, according to tax experts and congressional aides. However, they face a higher barrier if they want to make that information public.

“There has to be a legitimate purpose for that disclosure. It has to be in the public interest,” said George Yin, a former Joint Committee on Taxation chief of staff who now teaches at the University of Virginia.

Republicans have asked for an ethics review of one senior White House adviser’s promotion of Ivanka Trump’s products. Democrats say persistent concerns about Trump’s continued ownership of an international web of companies could eventually prompt lawmakers to take action.

Pascrell said Trump’s tax returns will come up for debate as Congress moves to overhaul the U.S. tax code.

“We certainly don’t want tax reform to benefit any particular group, including the president of the United States,” Pascrell told Reuters. “I ain’t going away.”

I still think that many members of Congress have already seen some of his returns.

So many of those members are sly as foxes and I would think there are ways they could obtain copies. (Without Trump providing them.)

      Delete
    2. Anonymous4:17 AM

I think there are legitimate reasons for Congress to see Trump's tax returns for the past twelve years or so: the unresolved questions about conflicts of interest involving Trump, his family and their businesses, and the very real matter of the potential of conflicts involving foreign countries (for example, Russia. There are very serious issues involving these matters that keep surfacing and answers are needed. It all should have been resolved eighteen months ago and Trump should never have become the GOP candidate but here we are and here he is. And the issues persist.

Melania Trump never speaks. She is like a god damn robot. So much for the advancement of women. The Stepford wife has no cause although she said it was going to be against bullying. Lazy ass has a bully for a husband. She sits on her ass in Trump Tower costing us at least 500,000 a day doing nothing.

And they bitched about Michelle Obama who lived in the White House and was smart and involved.Melania wants all the perks and none of the work. This pisses me off as a woman and an American.

It's obvious she does not want the job and only the title. Maybe her idiot husband should have known that, and gee they should have told us how much a former nude model was going to cost us just to be an ego boost to a fat, limp, old fart.We deserve better. Not my First Lady. Not MY President.

Well, two tidbits: seems when the Japanese PM made a speech at the WH, 45 nodded his head all the time approvingly, even though he did NOT wear a translation ear piece (and does not speak Japanese, either!).
Also: He has tons of paperwork on his desk all the time (every other president put them away so they could never be photographed, JIC they were classified.
Also, he left a classified key lying around, plainly visible in pictures taken.

Trump is a slob in addition to his many other failings. He may have a hearing issue and that is why he didn't want the translation ear piece. Or he's just terribly vain and stupid. . . .

He didn’t wear the earpiece because he could care less what the Japanese PM was saying. He is only interested in the photo ops.

Little donnie invited the coach or owner of the football team to dine with Japanese PM. I am sure PM could careless about football and was not impressed that donnie was bragging about knowing his guy. whoopee.

We have a President who knows about Nordstrom but has no idea what his staff is up to.

My fear is that we will stop protesting and accept this as the new norm as time goes by. We cannot except this low of standard. This may be be a long haul and we had better unite and pace ourselves for it.

It's not easy getting rid of a President.

But at only not even a month in republicans are having doubts that is a sign.

    Resist!

Congress is all too happy that all eyes are on POTUS and his antics.

It, number one, keeps the media's eyes off of them, and number two, makes them look competent in comparison.

Mike Pence's redacted emails could head to Indiana Supreme Court

An area labor attorney has petitioned the Indiana Supreme Court to take up his case against Vice President Mike Pence in hopes that the court will reveal the contents of a political white paper the former governor has fought to keep secret for nearly three years.

If successful, the communications could reveal a slew of Republican political strategies that Pence and dozens of other U.S. governors devised against former President Barack Obama and an executive order issued on immigration during his time as president.

This may be a long shot, but it could be devastating if it shows Pence committed unethical or illegal acts

So Howard Stern tells us that Trump just wants to be loved? He's working hard destroying everything worthwhile about this country and it's being done all for love? That's utter nonsense.

Trump wants power and money. Maybe he equates, and most probably, has always equated power and money with love. Unfortunately a president cannot be a mean, selfish, ignorant oaf.

He or she has to be able to put the country and its people (all of them) foremost in his/her interests. It is probably the hardest job in the world. Trump was preceded in office by a man who exemplified what being president means. President Obama had the perfect temperament for the office and the intelligence and sensitivity that it required. His failing was that one of his parents was African and too many Americans, including the entire GOP, wanted to punish him and the country for that.

So now we have the GOP ideal of a president: a man who is rich, not very smart, thinks he's a great businessman, and mean as can be.
