Courtesy of the Miami Herald:
Owens’ father, Bill, had learned only a short time before the ceremony that Trump was coming. Owens was sitting with his wife, Marie, and other family members in the solemn, living room-like space where the loved ones of the fallen assemble before they are taken to the flight line.
“I’m sorry, I don’t want to see him,’’ Owens recalled telling the chaplain who informed him that Trump was on his way from Washington. “I told them I don’t want to meet the President.”
It had been little more than 24 hours since six officers in dress uniform knocked on the door to Owens’ home in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It was not yet daylight when he answered the door, already knowing in the pit of his stomach what they had come to tell him.
Now, Owens cringed at the thought of having to shake the hand of the president who approved the raid in Yemen that claimed his son’s life — an operation that he and others are now calling into question.
“I told them I didn’t want to make a scene about it, but my conscience wouldn’t let me talk to him,” Owens said Friday, speaking out for the first time in an interview with the Miami Herald.
Not only was Mr. Owens repulsed by the idea of meeting the man whose carelessness resulted in his son's death (He was not even in the Situation Room during the raid.), he wants an investigation.
“Don’t hide behind my son’s death to prevent an investigation,” said the elder Owens, pointing to Trump’s sharp words directed at the mission’s critics, including Sen. John McCain.
“I want an investigation. … The government owes my son an investigation,” he said.
I don't support using this man's tragedy as a political tool, nor do I want this to turn into some Benghazi style witch hunt, but the man DOES deserve a little closure.
And he also deserves the right not to be exposed to the toxic personality of Donald Trump.
Can you even imagine how inappropriate he would be in a situation like this?
You nailed it, Gryphen. We saw "Congress" go banana nuts over Benghazi - the same banana nuts Congress that reduced funds to protect Embassies and outposts overseas.
ReplyDeleteThis latest Navy Seal raid that ended in tragedy, death and destruction saddens me beyond comment.
Mr. Owens is a better person than me. Under his circumstances, I would have met with Donnie for the distinct pleasure of giving that fraud a nut punch. As for Donnie's protection/beard,flammable Ivanka? Get her help! Get her, Jared, hostage #3 Melania and that poor child Barron help/protective custody.

DeleteDeepest sympathy to the family. I would not want to be in the same room as tRump. Why was Ivanka along for the ride, anyway? She gets her face on TV every chance she gets. Who elected HER into any office? I think she is the keeper of the medications for Daddy.
ReplyDeleteIf only ... it appears that no one is ensuring that Donnie takes his meds. Much like during his Viet Nam "service" when his brain was shot through with syphilis.
DeleteJared and Ivanka need to move back to wherever and QUIT costing taxpayer money for their scams. Much like Trivialina and their youngest pucktard Barron, it's time they WH with Donnie. That would be 3 under Secret Service protection. Uday, Qusay and Ivanka need to quit pretending they are children and pay their own way.
I draw the line at the hate leveled at Barron. He is a child, much like Chelsea Clinton was way back when. The adults, however, are fair game.
Delete6:35 Yes, Chelsea was a child when McCain and Limbaugh were making sneering comments and "jokes" about her. I guess things are different when the children are republican offspring. Imagine if any democratic first lady had nude photos being snickered about all over the world? Different riles for THEM, I suppose. Democratic voters admire BRAINS and education.
DeleteI hope the Trumpeters and Palunbots don't go after Mr Owens a POLICE OFFICER and VETERAN.
ReplyDeleteone...two...three -- Owen's son's death is fake news. Alive and well.

ReplyDeleteTrump Gives Answer On Russia Special Prosecutor Question That Will Come Back To Haunt Him
ReplyDelete...After Trump’s “listening” session with executives of health insurance companies, as the White House pool was being led out, Trump was asked if there should be a special prosecutor on Russia, according to the White House pool report sent to PoliticusUSA.
Trump waited until the pool was “mostly out” and then mouthed the word “No” to those at the table. With most of the pool out of the room, Trump then told the executives in the room, “I haven’t called Russia in 10 years.”
So basically Trump didn’t answer the question and then as the pool reporters were leaving, he mouthed his denial to the executives, as if he didn’t want that denial reported but he couldn’t resist trying to clear his name with the executives.
http://www.politicususa.com/2017/02/27/trump-avoids-question-special-prosecutor-russia-offers-lame-denial.html
Maybe HE has not, but what about Ivanka, Beavis or Butthead? Bannon and a few others were certainly in touch with Ruussia. We need to get this ass out of our WH PRONTO. I suspect Maleria's father (the Communist) is deeply involved in this Russian fiasco also, too.
DeleteJust because he hasn't actually dialed the phone doesn't mean he or his close staff hasn't spoken to anyone in Russia.
DeleteI doubt he ever dials the phone himself, so it's quite possible that "I haven't called..." is accurate but misleading.
There also seems to be a lot of evidence that numerous people around him have had repeated contact with people in Russia.
“I haven’t called Russia in 10 years.”
Delete============
What about his phone call to putin a few weeks ago? The one when he turned off the recording devise. Oh right, putin called him.
So others could have called him.
Why was he calling Russia 10 years ago, he told us he has no business interests in russia. Was this the beauty contest crap?

Delete‘Isn’t that a Counter Leak?’: CNN’s Jim Sciutto Grills House Intel Chair for Speaking to Reporters on Russia
ReplyDeleteDuring a press gathering on Capitol Hill this morning, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) — the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee — was pressed by CNN correspondent Jim Sciutto over his condemnation of government leaks to the media while simultaneously contacting reporters to help knock down reports.
Nunes called the gaggle to discuss the FBI investigation into alleged contacts between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian intelligence officials. Last week, it was reported that the White House tried to get officials in the FBI to refute stories surrounding the investigation. While the FBI wouldn’t comply, two lawmakers who chair integral committees — Nunes and Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee — did contact reporters to push back.
With Nunes having decried leaks from the White House and intelligence community to reporters, Sciutto wanted to know how he could square that with his own actions.
“If it is a major crime for leakers to discuss classified information relating to these communications and elsewhere, why is it not inappropriate for the White House and you and Senator Burr to call reporters and give your own interpretation of, again, a continuing investigation that involves classified information?” Sciutto asked. “Isn’t that a counter leak, as it were? You’re still discussing the investigation.”

Former neo-Nazi warns that the white supremacist movement is only growing bolder and more dangerous
ReplyDeleteWhile it’s comforting to believe that white supremacist movements in the United States are only a tiny fringe, one former neo-Nazi warns that they’re growing bolder and more dangerous every day.
In an interview with Vox, anti-hate activist Christian Picciolini explains why the Trump administration’s decision to spend far fewer resources fighting violent white nationalist movements couldn’t come at a worse time for the United States.
“In prior administrations, the government has supported the fight against white extremism,” says Picciolini, who was recruited into the white nationalist movement when he was just 14 years old. “They’ve recognized the threat in our own borders. But some of those policies might change — I think that’s a mistake.”
Picciolini says the white nationalist movement has also gone to great lengths to overhaul its image, so middle-class white suburbanites didn’t merely see them as thuggish skinheads, but as respectable members of the community.
“The imagery of white supremacy has changed over the last three decades,” he says. “It’s gone from what you would consider your normal racist, who might be a skinhead with tattoos or a Klansman wearing a robe and a hood, to something that’s more mainstream: suits and ties, fashionable haircuts, and clothes that would never identify them as neo-Nazis until they open their mouths.”
Additionally, Picciolini says the movement has been very clever about co-opting traditional conservative talking points about the “liberal media” to make their agenda more palatable to conservatives who don’t like to think of themselves as Nazis.
“These days with our political climate, we see a lot of coded language or dog whistles, the use of star of David, when talking about politicians,” he says. “We hear terms like “liberal media,” when in fact what they are talking about is Jewish media.”

Ryan must be getting lots of $$$ from the healthcare/pharmaceutical industries. He is bound and determined to rip EVERYONE off medical coverage.

ReplyDeleteTrump laments that American soldiers no longer 'fight to win'
11:26 a.m. ET
Trump slammed the American military Monday, complaining the U.S. doesn't "fight to win."
"Win. We have to win. We have to start winning wars again," Trump said. "I have to say, when I was young, in high school and college, everybody used to say that we never lost a war. 'We never lost a war.' You remember."
"And now we never win a war," Trump added. "We never win. And we don't fight to win."

Of course when he was in college he & daddy always made sure he had deferments so he didn't have to serve, except of course in his own personal Vietnam otherwise known as having unprotected sex with anything that walked and miraculously avoiding disease!

10:06 Maybe he did not avoid disease? I imagine it cost HIM a fortune to bed all those women he claims to have slept with. Many women have come forward declaring that he was gross even back then. He told Stern that he could have slept with Princess Diana, when she told her friend she thought he was gross, sending flowers all the time. Candice Bergen went to school with him, and could not stand him, either. Nude "model" escorts seem to be the best he can do.
DeleteGood for this father. His son is dead because Chickenhawk Trump wanted to show how rough and ready he is. The raid failed and Trump needs to explain why. I hope the cowardly Congress backs up this father.
ReplyDeleteAnd good for him for telling that Orange Asshole to fuck off at Dover. Bush was out there all the time because he killed so many kids, and Obama had to go too. Only Trump used it as a photo op. Of course.
Barbara Bush said "Who needs to see the bodies arriving? Who needs to know how many body bags will be needed today?" tRump has the same attitude. Ivanka went along, adding insult to injury. He husband Jared tRump never served. Her father and brothers Beavis and Butthead never served. Her grandfather the real estate scammer, great grandfather the PIMP never served. Getting her overly Botoxed face on TV is all she cares about.
DeleteIn a perfect world, Trump would be escorted through a packed but silent air terminal, no one facing him, only to arrive at the ready room to find the door locked and a large No Admittance to Anyone Especially Donald Trump sign. He should , standing at the top of the be scorned as Bill Clinton was when he stood on the stage at a graduation while students ignored him on the way to get their diplomas.
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies to the family. Guess it's time to watch Taking Chance again.
Goodness I hope don john does not repeat the same thing as he did about McCain. The nasty liar is way over his head. It is high time for trump to face the same music as various other paid servants that lie under oath.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame the poor man for being angry- his child was killed to satisfy the alcoholic Stephen Bannon's lust to kill Muslims.
ReplyDeleteBut his child is only the first of many, many children that will be killed by Stephen Bannon and his rank incompetence spurred by his blind hatred and his mentally ill patsy.
I fear you are right.
DeletePerhaps Trump will repeat his feat of attacking this young man's mother, as he did to the Khan family.
I, too, 12:14, fear he wants war. Why else would he repeat he wants MORE nukes?
DeleteMy heart goes out to the Owens' family.
ReplyDeleteNo one should have to die for nothing and that is what it appears like to me,
I lost a 22 year old brother in '65 at Fort Hood, TX. My brothers death via electrocution....my father just never came back to life. Did we stop the spread of Communism?
I suggest that Trump visit the veterans hospitals and have a look see why we don't win wars. Let the vets tell him their stories.
He should probably stay away from wounded veterans. They have suffered enough and he will just use them as props, perhaps talking about his inaugural crowd size, as he did at the CIA Wall of the Fallen.
DeleteGeorge W Bush has used wounded service people for years. No shame whatsoever from him, either after causing all that misery.
DeleteSo what happened? Was Trump's flight turned back to avoid a confrontation? Or was Trump there and the Dad snubbed him? Was the Dad forced to shake Trump's hand even though he made it perfectly clear he did not want to be in Trump's presence?
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder how Trump felt being snubbed by this family. I'm sure he didn't want to be there in the first place, and then being told the family doesn't want to see you.
"Me? They don't want to see me? I'm the President!"
I doubt that this family could afford the $200,000 membership fee for Mar-A-Lago, so tRump could care less.

Sad.
How sickening, that people made the reckless choice of voting for Donald Trump, who then made a thoughtless and ill-informed choice which resulted in the death of this man's son. This is exactly why I am having a hard time forgiving my relatives who voted for Trump.........they knew he was a nut, but they each had their own little "pet project" that they thought they might get (abortion banned, EPA demolished so they could drill for more oil, etc.). The thing is, none of those relatives have a teenage son like I do..........and it really won't affect their nuclear families if Trump gets the US into a needless war. My life would be so much easier if I could forgive them........I could go back to hosting family dinners, etc. But I can't get past how they endangered my son, and also endangered any future grandchildren that my kids may produce as Trump and the Republicans roll back all progress on dealing with climate change. I don't know if I will ever get over this feeling of disgust with people that I used to respect.
ReplyDeleteYes, this father got his say, that he did not want to meet the man responsible for his son's tragic, untimely, and avoidable death, but *that* didn't stop Drumpf from traipsing down with daughter-wife Ivanka for their precious photo-op to 'welcome the fallen patriot back home'. Makes him look oh-so more Commander-in-Chief-ish, dunnit? /s
ReplyDeleteIt makes me all the more sick to my stomach to think that the motivation for this was likely to 'prove' that he could do what Obama couldn't.... the intel warned against going in until there was a moonless night; that was what Obama would have waited for; but Drumpfie could. Not. Wait. Was ITCHIN' to prove his c**k was bigger than the 'Kenyan Muslim's'. And look what happened...
We all know he is nowhere NEAR the MAN that President Obama is. tRump will always be an ugly loser who has to buy his women. Even his money can not buy QUALITY females, he has to settle for nude "models".

They are brainwashed and this situation is further proof of their stupidity and how they have been dumbed-down by the media. Besides the fact that it has been less than a month since the incident, it seems the investigation 8s complete of an operation performed by one of our most secretive military units. Really? EXTORTION 17!!! I bet most Democrats are clueless to this 2011 military operations that killed 17 members of Seal Team 6 when they were shot down in Afghanistan. This was the same Seal Team that got Bin Laden and was also the same Seal Team that VP Biden revealed to the world on live TV as the military special forces unit that performed the Bin Laden raid. What a guy! Democrats, were you aware many of the parents of the fallen Seals didnt want Obama at their sons funerals. Besides the photo ops they knew he was there for, the rulesa of engagement under Obama not only put the Seals in grave danger on the battlefield but compromised their ability to operate as the secretive force that kept them safe. Far more sinister was involved with the soldiers deaths rather than the "lucky shot" of the terrorist with an RPG. Despite the circumstances surrounding the deadliest attack ever on our special forces, the contradictions, facts and evidence left out of the report, the protocols broken, mission planning, and proven lies, only a Democrat will deny these truths. As a grieving father makes emotional statements of his sons death, democrats have already concluded their investigation of a secretive mission that involved the death of a soldier and Trump is to blame. Yet Obama set our soldiers up to die and ignored the parents and judge on matters surrounding the murder of our soldiers but not a peep from democrats. This is how we know Democrats are frauds and how stupid they really are.
