New Arkansas law allows family members to stop abortion by suing the doctor.

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

A new Arkansas law bans one of the safest and most common abortion procedures and allows family members to block an abortion by suing the abortion provider.

Arkansas Act 45, signed by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson last Thursday, bans dilation and evacuation abortions, the most common abortion procedure during the second trimester of pregnancy. Rushed from filing to law in less than two months, the legislation effectively blocks abortions after 14 weeks by making the safest procedure a felony. The earliest current abortion bans block the procedure after 20 weeks.

With no exception for rape or incest, and a clause that allows a woman’s spouse or parent to sue an abortion provider, the law potentially allows the fetus’s father to sue even in cases of spousal rape or incest, abortion rights activists say. The law could go into effect as early as spring.

The way this law is written it might also allow a young girl's rapist to sue her and keep her from aborting his child. That way he can keep right on violating her.

So long 2017, welcome back 1950's.

This is just one more law in a whole slew of laws coming down the pike that will strip away the rights of women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

Welcome to Donald Trump's America.

Trump Blamed Obama for Navy SEAL’s Death – B.O.’s Administration Just Fired Back

...Thursday, Sean Spicer asserted that the plan was first conceived under the Obama administration and that they delayed until after Trump’s inauguration day because the plan required a “moonless night”.

This weak attempt, however, by Trump and his staff to transfer the blame to Barack Obama is not working well. Shortly after Spicer’s comment, Ned Price and Colin Kahl issued statements which demonstrate with meticulous clarity the fact that Obama had nothing to do with the raid.

1950? more like 1450, when religion ruled the world, and we called it the Dark Ages.

Historians don't use the term Dark Ages anymore. You're off hundreds of years anyway with your date of 1450, hundreds of years after any so-called Dark Ages. And religion still rules the world. You say that like it's a bad thing. No getting around it. Stay in school.

Trump Administration Faces Major Embarrassment After This Guy Was Detained (DETAILS)

...Kjell Magne Bondevik, who served as prime minister of Norway from 1997-2000 and again from 2001-2005, came to D.C. to attend the National Prayer Breakfast. He was held by customs for an hour when they saw that his diplomatic passport indicated he had been to Iran, one of the countries that is part of the ban, three years ago. Bondevik told ABC7 that his passport clearly showed that he was a former PM.

Bondevik said he was then placed in a room with travelers from the Middle-East and Africa who were facing increased scrutiny over their countries of origin. Bondevik is president of the human rights organization the Oslo Center. As part of his duties as the organization’s president, Bondevik traveled to Iran in 2014.

Fine, but when Pence gets done and bans contraception, are you men going to stop unzipping your trousers too? I get that the RW hates abortion, but why do they also hate women who want to delay having children?

Better yet, don't have sex, or make you husband's boyfriends pay for YOUR contraception. Watch how quickly this gets reveresed.

ANd it isn't always about delayign havign kids. Some don't want kids EVER. END Of story. SOme laready have all the kids they want. Some medically NEED contraception.

We fight Pence and stupid Neanderthal rules like this the same way we fight T.Rump. Loud and proud reisitance. Always.

    Kiss my Ass Mikey!

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/mike-pence-neil-gorsuch-democrats-234648

The battle lines sharpened Saturday over the looming confirmation battle of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, as Vice President Mike Pence pressured Senate Democrats not to obstruct the nomination of a judge who was confirmed unanimously to his current place on the federal bench.

During a speech to the Federalist Society in Philadelphia, Pence called Gorsuch, who President Donald Trump nominated Tuesday to fill Antonin Scalia's seat on the Supreme Court, "one of the most mainstream, accepted and exceptionally qualified" nominees in the country's history.

This is OT but I have to say that I love that Trump is very obviously self-conscious whenever he deplanes and aware that he looks like he's old. He holds onto the rail all the way down the steps and he usually stands pretty close to the side and really grabs the rail, whereas when past presidents have held the rail (W and Clinton) they've just barely touched it and stood more in the middle of the steps. Trump also does this thing where he pounds or taps on the rail every several steps so as to make it look like he's not really in need of holding it. Yesterday was pretty funny when he deplaned alone and did this. Those stairs must seem to last forever. He is so clearly uncomfortable walking down them. He knows he looks like an old man deplaning and he tries his best to hide it. After he reached the ground yesterday, and after several pounds and taps of the rail, when Melania reached out to hold hands he then raised her hand up to his waist and pounded on her had--so weird--a few times and let it go. Then as he walked toward people waiting, he had to clap now and then in that way he always does when he doesn't know what else to do with his body. He's so uncomfortable. He can't just walk like Obama did. And he'll never walk down those stairs like BO did. BO never held the rail. Neither did John Kerry, who is three years older than Trump.

Could it be that he is taking some drugs that cause side effects? Or that he should be taking some drugs that he isn't?

1:04, right on both counts. He takes drugs (like Propecia for balding and causes confusion and impotence) but he needs a few more, like weed so he can stop tweeting and mellow out. Maybe some Xanax, oxycontin, fentanyl, washed down with lotsa The Glenlivet. Propofol if that doesn't do it.

i am much younger than him and i am very cautious with stairs cause my hips suck.

so i give a pass on his caution.

however the pounding on the rail is just odd. who does that?

hopefully we have a personal trainer for the president - that would make the most sense. good nutrition, proper exercise and a psychotherapist.

This will be struck down in court, when a state law opposes federal law, the federal law “wins”.

The law that applies to situations where state and federal laws disagree is called the supremacy clause, which is part of article VI of the Constitution.

The supremacy clause contains what's known as the doctrine of pre-emption, which says that the federal government wins in the case of conflicting legislation.
