House Republicans finally manage to pass Republican "health care" bill with 217 votes.

Courtesy of ABC News:

House Republicans have passed their ambitious plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, after several fits and starts, sending the measure to the Senate, where it is expected to be significantly revised.

The bill passed the House in a narrow 217-213 vote. All Democrats opposed the bill.

Democrats warned that the changes will leave Americans worse off.

“Make no mistake, many people will die as a result of this bill,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said.

Republicans, who have been promising to repeal and replace Obamacare for seven years but have struggled to coalesce around a specific legislative proposal, said they planned on keeping their promise to constituents.

“Our constituents did not elect us to do what is easy. They elected us to do what is right,” Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., the chairwoman of the House Budget Committee, said on the floor.

And sadly the Republicans still failed to do what's right.

The New York Times laid out this bill's winners and losers.

  • High income earners: You know, like the Trump family and friends.
  • Upper-middle-class people without pre-existing health conditions: Goes without saying.
  • Young, middle-class people without pre-existing health conditions: Yep.
  • People who wish to go without insurance: Unless of course they get injured or get a catastrophic illness that is.
  • People who want less comprehensive health coverage: Same response as above.
  • Large employers: Duh!
  • Medical device companies, indoor tanning companies and a few other medical industries: Well as long as we are helping those poor indoor tanning companies.
The Losers:
  • Poor people
  • Older Americans, in most states
  • People with pre-existing health conditions, particularly in some states
  • State governments
  • Hospitals
You know another group of losers are the Republicans who voted for this bill today.

And that's why the Democrats sang a little song for them after the bill passed:

The American Health Care Act just passed the House by the smallest possible margin, barely getting the 217 votes needed to pass. And as the bill passed, House Democrats began singing and waving goodbye to their Republican counterparts.

“Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!” they sang as voting finished.

It was a pretty remarkable act of trolling on the House floor, but one that illustrates just how divisive health care is as a political issue. Democrats are absolutely, positively sure that Thursday's vote will doom their more vulnerable Republican colleagues — and maybe then some.

The Democrats know full well that the chances of this bill getting through the Senate are slim and none, and Slim just left the building. (Sorry, that's one of my Dad's jokes.)

Currently this bill is not only disliked by the majority of the American people, but virtually every health care organization on the planet also opposes it.

Which includes, The American Medical Association, American Nurses Association, American College of Physicians, National Nurses United, National, Physicians Alliance, Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Like the Democrats said,  “Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!”

    Fuck all those white men.
    Every one.
Well, let's enjoy the fallout. And by that I mean GET OUT and PROTEST!!!

    1. Anonymous2:53 PM

  2. Anonymous1:39 PM

This should not be called a Health Care bill! This is truly a Go fuck you to American people. We need a catchy bumper sticker phrase like "death panels". Republicans only seem to be able to grasp ideas if they fit on a refrigerator magnet.

    1. Anonymous3:33 PM

This is a bill that takes money from sick people and allows the GOP to fund their tax cuts for the rich. That's all it is. That ALL it is.
Oh, and it's a slap in the face to that blah man and his party who thought they knew better than the fat white men who, by rights, own the country.

Erectile disfunction is a pre-existing condition. Pass it on.

    2. Anonymous4:04 PM

Wanna bet birth control is no longer covered, but Viagra at $100+/pill is !!

    3. Anonymous7:01 PM

YOu know, I was just thinking about that - after all wilty peepees are just a natural fact of life - a consequence of God's plan that old men shouldn't be be able to have frequent sex, as they would father children they won't live to care for, or seek younger women to have more sex with instead of their appropriately aged spouses.

Which church will be the first to use the new religious freedom EO to NOT cover Viagra?

  3. Anonymous1:42 PM

I wonder if Sarah Palin realizes that special ed funding will be affected by this bill. No more physical therapy, speech, occupational therapy. Maybe no teachers or assistants that are funded under medical care. I personally know several families with children's with special needs that will be affected by this.

    1. Anonymous2:32 PM

Why should she care? Trig's not her kid.

    2. Anonymous2:34 PM

She probably could care less because her kid has not been provided for well throughout his short life...think he just turned 8!

He's known to be behind the eight ball in his development. That has how she has cared for the kid she delivered. Terrible parents - feel sorry for him!

    3. Anonymous3:50 PM

I do not think AK Native Health care will be affected by this bill that is probably what the Palins use for the kids. Remember Todd is native.

    4. Anonymous7:04 PM

THE BIA said this will gut Medicaid which is what funds much of Native Health Care.

  4. Anonymous1:42 PM

  7. Anonymous2:04 PM

SO , tell us Ms. Diane Black (R) how is denying children, no, those baaaabeez you always claim want to want to protect when they are unborn, how is denying them adequate healthcare (and funnelign that money to the miltary-industrial complex to be uesed to kill other children and to make CEO's richer, "right?" Most humane and sane people would call that obsene, vicious and immoral.

  8. Anonymous2:08 PM

it has an excellent chance of passing the Senate. Unforunately.

    1. Anonymous3:23 PM

"it has an excellent chance of passing the Senate."

      Sad but true

    2. Anonymous3:44 PM

You must be reading fake news, it doesn't have a chance in the senate.

    3. Anonymous5:33 PM

No I don't believe it will have an excellent chance. The Senate has a few republicans that have not been infected. They know better and want a job.

    4. Anonymous10:02 PM

The only chance is if the do the nuclear option, as they have been known to do. And even that chance is slim, if any ReThugs are going to vote against it.
This is solely and completely on the ReThugs rap sheet, and they WILL reap the consequences.

  9. Anonymous2:09 PM

"Young, middle-class people without pre-existing health conditions: Yep."

Except, do you have any clue the number of those young, middle class people who have been on meds of some sort for emotional and mental issues? in therapy for any reason? WHo have been pregnant or have fertility issues? or have falsified records because their ob-gyn had an office in an RCC owned practice? Just wait until they all try to get insurance.Or jobs that are no loger available for them, because people between 55 and 67 will no longer be retiring early becuase they can't afford private healthcare and are too young for Medicare.

    1. Anonymous7:12 PM

What is an RCC owned practice and how would that affect the ability to get insurance?

    2. Anonymous9:22 PM

Roman Catholic CHurch. They own a ton of hospitls and medicla buidlings and practices- sometimes requiring docs to be part of one before allowign them admitting privileges.

Birth control is verbotten in RCCland for contraception. But, the exact same pill an be used to control menstrual crampign and excessive bleeding. SO many non-RCC and sane RCC docs woul dbe more than willin got falsify your records - with bc (generic hormone name) prescribed to lessen heavy bleeding and cramping in a women's medical records. AS someone who had short periods that I could do cartwheels through it was quite the surprise when a later doc asked about my endometriosis- say what? Weel it's in yrou records - that heavy bleeding and cramping. ANd voila, a pre-existing condition was born.

  10. Anonymous2:14 PM

Screw Don Young, Lisa Murkowski (who always votes differently than she states!) and the white guy from Ohio that was voted in by Alaskans (bad mistake) - never can remember his name - he's truly a do nothing member of Congress - except for the fact he always votes in step w/Republicans!

I believe Republicans will truly be creamed in the next election cycle and I will work in my community to assure that movement against them!

They just kissed the fat ass of Donald Trump their last time - big goof! Trump is disliked throughout the country and does not carry the majority by a long shot.

Fuck them all!!! In all three levels of our government, our states (governors), and cities/communities (mayors, precincts and assembly members).

They truly are a horrid bunch of folks that most of us would never want to emulate or have as a friend!

RESIST every fucking one of them that is up for reelection or comes on the scene as a new Republican candidate. Pay close attention to how they talk as many will not declare which party they represent when running for election. Check voting records for those up for reelection. Do NOT let them get away with their lies and deceit! Verify, investigate, seek the 'factual' information about them, lead discussion groups about each candidate and get to know each one as well as you can in order to place your well-analyzed vote!

"“I can think of a case that was brought to our attention earlier this session where you had a family who was very glad to hear that their abortion had gone beyond a certain point, because they were going to be heading to Seattle,” Eastman said."

Eastman’s comments were “ludicrous and despicable.”

How many would crap their pants if Che k schumer didn't filibuster and it went to an up or down vote as is. All the Democrats would vote no and u can bet Republicans up for reelection next year would b trapped. Vote yes and probably not win or vote no and get tweet stormed by Jabba the Trump

    1. Anonymous3:52 AM

By the time the next election roles around, the poor, anyone from a minority group, any naturalized citizen (except for the third wife, of course), any woman, any man with an education will be removed from the voter lists.

"The Democrats know full well that the chances of this bill getting through the Senate are slim and none"

Stop it, Gryphen. You KNOW being-overconfident makes you look 15 years older than you really are.

    1. Anonymous3:52 PM

we all know e likes to write checks his butt can't cash.

    2. Anonymous4:14 PM

I thought the odds of Trump getting the GOP nomination and winning the presidency were slim to none. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

    3. Are you suggesting that James Comey and Vladimir Putin are going to interfere in this vote as well?

In its current form this bill will not pass the Senate.

      Bank on it.

    4. Anonymous4:23 PM

      Is this the Grifter family?

    5. Anonymous4:35 PM

"In its current form this bill will not pass the Senate."

Machts nicht. just like the House bill didn't pass a few weeks ago but passed today in slightly modified yet still horrific form, so too will the Senate version be cosmetically altered to pass without changing its inherent awfulness. There's nothing to be cocky about in Drumpf's Amerika.

    6. Anonymous8:47 PM

I am sorry Gryphen, but did you actually think Trump would be President? This has taught us that anything is possible if we remain complacent . We have a President who is using the office to enhance his personal income, who has his daughter and her husband using the office to get China business deals and so far the Republican party looks the other way. This is so messed up. When would we ever concieve of a situation like we have now and let it slide into the norm.

This is going to take a fight because apparently Republicans are willing to declare it a victory. The question is how many Republicans are willing to sell their souls right now or toss it away for their future? How the hell far are they willing to go, by the looks of it really far.

    7. Anonymous2:05 AM

I think somehow the weak republican house representatives think these are the end of times. Hunger games, water world, mad max, Armageddon, etc. I don't like to imagine that this is happening but by the actions of their words and votes it appears they are paranoid and out of their minds. Not sure what trump has bribed them with or scared them to vote for his hateful agenda but something is very fishy. He may have sold them on lets just play with them and watch them suffer type small minded mental torture to innocent victims. They seem to take jolly knowing how this vote hurts millions of americans and creates mental suffering. If you read about trumps military school days he was taught this tactic to break down people. And we will and shall do the same to that pos. DEMAND THAT THE LIAR RESIGN.

  17. Anonymous3:36 PM

Look at the photos of the majority Republican men in Congress...with Trump. They are all white (I am too!), but these white boys are awful creatures that inhabit our halls of government in D.C.

They do not represent the majority population of America any longer. Way past time to elect non Republicans that are of varied races who truly represent us.

We need a change ALREADY with Trump who sorely needs to be ousted or impeached. He's no more a Christian than am I and I nearly threw up watching his 'prayer day' bullshit! He's on the record for not praying, asking for forgiveness from God, etc. He's the devil incarnate!

    1. Anonymous3:49 AM

How can any woman be a Republican in this century? Republican men simply hate women. It must be part of the GOP requirements to run for any office -- hate women and, by extension, hate all children. Also let's throw in -- hate the planet, hate our traditional allies. Rule by hatred, the mantra of the OGP.

  18. Anonymous3:41 PM

That is what Nancy Pelosi said today. Before the first time they were to vote on this abomination there weren't enough votes in the Senate to pass that version of the Bill. This one is even worse.Iam sickened and disgusted by the events of today.

O/T The ACLU is already suing fatass cheeto for the executive order he signed today as a violation of church and state.

    1. Anonymous9:27 PM

nope, they reconsidered becuase the EO doesn't really do anything. Separation of Church and State is going ahead with suit.

  19. Anonymous3:41 PM

I dare anyone to find someone without a pre-existing condition. We all have a pre-existing condition. You may not know today, but you do have a pre-existing condition. This was just a cruel bully maneuver by trump and ASShole republican tea bags to cause pain to americans. All of us must be on the same medical insurance or have NO insurance at all and the medical facilities will once again loose money. All of us must be on same page. That means everyone. This will not go further. And a list of every person that voted for this tragic hateful bill will be punished and removed from the people's house because of their dirty nasty vote. Hey hey goodbye is right. Trump will be impeached and republicans will lose everything.

    1. Anonymous4:35 PM

      I know I have a preexisting illness/disease as I was diagnosed w/it 17 years ago.

To date, the majority of my financial monthly output is toward insurance premiums - with all of them having gone up each year. So far, I've been able to handle the situation and pay what is required of me over and above the insurance coverage - 80/20% when I've needed procedures, medications, operations, etc.

But, I fear what could be ahead of me w/Trump being our awful leader! I worry for those with cancer who have been winning their battle due to treatments received.

Trump is NOT representing Americans by any stretch of the imagination. He could care less about those sick, or knowing premiums for insurance are increasing (and will substantially), having allowable care under policies be decreased and allowing people/fellow Americans die a slow death.

Fuck Donald Trump and ALL Republicans in Congress. I hope each of them experiences a major illness themselves or to one of their family members in order they get a grip and learn what the experience(s) are like! It is apparent they are going to have to learn the hard way!

Plus, don't reelect any one of them when and if they have the balls to run again.

    2. Anonymous9:43 PM

You don't get it - the members of the House & Senate and their families, along with their staffers and families, will never have to live with this "health care" bill. The rotten bastards exempted themselves from it!

    3. Anonymous10:54 PM

Don't expect a self entitled so called billoinare to relate to us every day peons. We are just losers because we had no Daddy to give us money to play with.

We don't crap on a gold toilet and marry former nude models.

    4. Anonymous1:52 AM

We need to clarify this. Under the Affordable care act everyone was under the same rules. Even congress as was said. Now we hear of them being exempt from this repeal. Which is it? Do they have the same type insurance and choice today that each American has or do they have something else? We need to read up and find out. What they have now and what they will have if repeal. Find out and speak out.

    5. Anonymous1:55 AM

Trump called each house member that have voted no on his nonsense. What did he say to them? Did he threaten them? Did he tell them that they were finished if they vote no? Does anyone have information what was said to the no votes that turned yes overnite?

    6. Anonymous3:46 AM

Isn't that something, Anon at 9:43 pm. These GOP creeps will continue to live with the benefits of the ACA, which they have tried to undo since it was first passed, while the rest of us are saddled with the opposite of health care reform.

  20. Anonymous3:42 PM

The republicans should be ashamed of themselves, but their hatred for Obama is never ending.

They really showed their true colors today by voting for a bill that they could careless what is cost, let alone who it kills.

Hope they all end up with terminal cancer.

    1. Anonymous4:20 PM

I am another that wishes each of them a quick and terrible death! Every white Republican in the United States Congress.

I hope their God makes them be miserable in life, marriages and their government jobs. They are going to live with the disgust of the American people due to their inept and fraudulent methods of governing.

They will rot in Hell according to the Christian beliefs that were taught as children. They have not served the American people - only themselves!

    2. Anonymous3:43 AM

Alaska Lawmaker Claims Women Get Abortions For ‘A Free Trip To The City’

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A conservative state lawmaker has successfully tacked an anti-abortion message onto an otherwise innocuous resolution in the Alaska House aimed at raising awareness about sexual assault and child abuse.

The amendment from Republican Rep. David Eastman of Wasilla refers to abortion as “the ultimate form of child abuse.”

He said it would be wrong to discuss child abuse without mentioning abortion.
The amendment was approved by a divided House Rules Committee.

... “We have folks who try to get pregnant in this state so that they can get a free trip to the city, and we have folks who want to carry their baby past the point of being able to have an abortion in this state so that they can have a free trip to Seattle,” he said.
The Alaska Supreme Court has held that the state must fund medically necessary abortions if it funds medically necessary services for others with financial needs.

.... Eastman, who was elected last fall, has taken other provocative positions.

His was the lone no vote in the House on bills honoring Hmong and Lao veterans of the Vietnam War and the contribution of 4,000 black U.S. soldiers who endured harsh conditions while building the Alaska Highway during World War II. Eastman has said that one group should not be singled out because of race or heritage.

    1. Anonymous3:41 AM

As a woman, I don't think than any woman would "deliberately" get pregnant just for a "free ride" to a city for an abortion.

It would be interesting to see a compendium of GOP sexist remarks made during health care related deliberations. It's something that all Americans should know about.

  24. Anonymous4:02 PM

So I read that little donnie is too scared to stay in NYC overnight and is using the excuse he doesn’t want to “inconvenience New Yorkers” with his security so he is going to fly to NJ golf club for the night.

We are already getting stuck with the bill to secure trump tower because Melanomia refuses to live with her husband, now he is going to screw us again by charging for security at his golf club.

What a busy little con artist.

I like swing left because as a blue-stater I can "adopt" a red district in another state to work on. Throw in 5 bucks- it's the number of donations that's impressive.

    1. Anonymous10:13 PM

money helps but i remember the Vietnam war protests. Here is the point, even though i was fourteen at the time they had an impact.

We need a massive visual. how many times have you e mailed a Senator to get no reply.

The press loves visuals it's their news at "6" video. So give them their lead. It takes time out of your day but the crowd size can't be ignored. This is the most effective way to protest still after all these years.Spend your money on a plane ticket, show up on mass and take it to the sreets where there are cameras. Give them their sound bite and make it public.

You can use the press if enough of you gather. I am one voice but you time that by thousands in one place, at one point in time and you have a cacophony that will be heard.

    2. Anonymous3:38 AM

When I write to my representative or to my senators, I always get a reply. The senators, both Democrats, provide very specific information, sometimes more than I can take in; the Republican representative provides only gibberish. It was from a Republican that I first learned years ago about the great GOP concern for the "unborn." Of course, he made no mention about providing for children once they are born and citizens and members of the human family.

  28. Anonymous4:36 PM

Life is crazy, from binders full of women grabber of pucies.
    Gross dumpy.

  29. Anonymous5:29 PM

Everyone has a pre-existing condition. And in that bill is mandatory genetic testing, and this will be used to declare that you have a pre-existing condition. Yep. if you don't think that you have a pre-existing condition think again. Will this bill demand hospitals and facilities turn away patients? Hospitals, Doctors and facilities will be paid less and absorb the unpaid debt.

    1. Anonymous7:11 PM

Page and line # and exact language or you sound like death panel palin.

    2. Anonymous3:34 AM

The genetic testing the GOP is now so enamored of is intended to keep people from having insurance that they can remotely afford and also to cull potentially ill people from the workforce. They'll then be unemployed and ineligible for any insurance. Did this make it to the version of the bill passed by the House? It wouldn't surprise me if it did; no evil act on the part of the 21st century GOP ever surprises me. We no longer live in the country we once called home. It feels like we're in some dystopian state and no super hero is going to come to our rescue.

  30. Anonymous5:40 PM

There is no decline in business in healthcare. People are diagnosed with serious condition every second of everyday. Disease/cancer does not discriminate Rich or Poor, gender, race, age it does not matter. Trump and family have a pre-existing condition already. Of course they are on the payroll for benefits. How very royal of trump.

Today this is what Trump said about Australia"Trump, speaking about the health care bill, even remarked that Australia has a superior health care system to that in the United States: "You have better health care than we do," he said." Australia has single payer.

  35. Anonymous7:39 PM

Here is a list of preconditions. Note how many this will affect.

If you are young you will be fine. This hurts the elderly and the most vulnerable of our society. And what about the children, you know the ones that Republicans want to save.. only not on their dime . There is no compassion in this.

    1. Anonymous10:35 PM

There are children BORN WITH pre-existing conditions: heart problems, brain damage, Down Syndrome, premise. You name it. They fill their 'lifelong' caps during their very first year.

    2. Anonymous3:31 AM

Keep in mind that the House voted to exempt themselves and their families from the restrictions of the health care bill they passed. They will continue to be covered by the ACA, which they voted to repeal over 60 times when President Obama was in office. I am glad that the Democrats voted as a bloc against Trump's AHCA. Such abominable hypocrites our GOP representatives are!

  36. Anonymous8:17 PM

You have to wonder what led to all of this.

We all thought this country was ready to accept a black President. We all thought we as a nation had moved forward and we became complacent. And out there seething were the rednecks and the stupid who voted for probably the first time in years.

This is what you get if you become too comfortable and think most of America is not stupid.Well a lot of them are but we don't need to take it! I want to see mass demonstrations, i want to see so much flack that it makes the news around the world.

We can sit an bitch all day but if we do not make our voices heard outside a blog who will listen?I for one am thankful for this blog don't get me wrong it gathers like minded people together.

I actually go to Breitbart and Right Scoop, Why? know thy enemy. And let me tell you Breitbart is even getting pissed at Trump.

We have a President that has the lowest approval rate of any President ever and we can't fight this shit?

Here's a true story. I don't know about other Va's in other cities but my husband goes to the VA in Saginaw MI. he is a Vietnam vet who has arthritis badly in his left foot, he came home from the Va with two new pairs of shoes for free, they measured his foot and gave him inserts and let him pick out the shoes. This was under Obama, Trump had nothing to do with this!

President Obama improved vets care and Trump acts like it is so horrible.

Trump has done nothing but lie to the American people since . . . forever. I was going to say since he entered politics but he's bragged about lying to get his way in business for years. Trump is the ultimate con artist and, unfortunately, we, the American people, are now his latest victims. It's unfortunate that the GOP has bought into his lies so completely just so they can wreak vengeance on the 44th President and on those of us who supported him.

Obama and Hillary worked to help Vets like few before them .Thanks to Hillary the death benefit for a soldier went from $10,000 to $150,000.All of the fucking assholes that knocked her have NO Idea what wonderful things she has done for this country that have helped literally millions of people.

Iam so enraged and disgusted today. There is a video on DU where showing fatass dumb fuck arriving in NYC. There are hundreds of protesters to greet him. You can hear one man screaming Die over and over again.I share his sentiment. They had to move dump trucks full of sand surrounding trump tower for his protection. Then the cowardly MFSOB didn't even go there. There were mobs of protesters waiting for him. Iam so ANGRY and there is nothing I can do.

I called and emailed my rep and he voted yes anyway I sent him an email saying shame on you and you have blood on your hands. I feel encouraged by the anger this has caused but if the Russians stole the election from HRC (and comey) who's to say they won't do it again. From all reports they are working in France against Macron.Hell putin gave her 10,000,000 Le Pen for the campaign. The Russians influenced Brexit and are insidiously involved in countries all over the world.

There is the Vanity Fair article (which he tried and failed to sue them)from the 90's where two of his top men said of fatso "there is the truth and trumps version of the truth. The other just said Donald Trumo is mentally ill. When the author told trump this fatso demanded to know who said it that he was going to fire them. The author refused to tell. His own mother said "what kind of a monster have i raised".IT's still available to read. He's been despicable forever. And now we are stuck with him and his cabal of incompetents.

Trump pandered to the extremes. He continues to do so. But it’s the middle that has pragmatically moved on.

This, this right here will be Donald Trump’s Waterloo.

It is impossible to make America great for these two opposites, because what each really wants is to take from the other.

Trump will have to choose. The only way forward for him is to sacrifice either the rich or the poor.

And he cannot make that decision.

    He can’t.

It’s impossible and he’s starting to realize it.

He wants to throw in with the mansions, like Reagan and Bush and his billionaire friends.

But he can’t abandon the shacks, because his ego needs their cheering more than his wallet needs the billionaires’ money, that’s what the rallies are all about. That’s why he daily contradicts himself—because he’s trying to tell each what they want to hear and those things are mutually incompatible.

And so he won’t choose. He can’t.

He’ll try to please both extremes and end up pleasing nobody.

Let this be a lesson, an opportunity, for those who would be president.

It’s not the edges that matter.

    It’s the middle.

  39. Just wait until the budget office comes in with their report this time.

The Republicans chose to give the wealthy tax cut instead of providing health care for millions. That's who they are. They own that. And they will not be allowed to forget it.

Seth Meyers did a fabulous job of rubbing Paul Ryan's nose in his hypocritical words. He contrasted Ryan's words over Obamacare with what he's done with this UnHealthy WeDon'tCare bill.

Additional "losers" in this version of GOP anti-health care are women. In the McArthur amendment victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, women who have been diagnosed with postpartum depression and women who have had C-sections are classified as "high risk" for the purposes of medical insurance pools. How many more women will decide not to get help after being abused domestically or sexually or if they've got postpartum depression? How many men will get away with abusing the women in their lives? How many families and infants will have to live with a seriously depressed woman who could have been helped but wasn't?

The GOP and right wing media have been spreading gross misinformation about how insurance works and has now worked for centuries (think Lloyds' of London and other companies that insured cargo vessels since the 1800's) so many younger adults fear having to pay more for insurance because it also helps other people who may need it more at the present. They do so by implying that ill health is always the result of bad behavior on the part of the sick person. It is the crassest, stupidest stunt tried yet by Republicans and conservatives to make all Americans distrustful of one another and more selfish than ever. You can see it in how people have reacted to Jimmy Kimmel's story about his infant son. Instead of wishing the family well and hoping for the best for them and others like them, a fairly large number of commenters on various sites have complained that they shouldn't have to pay more for medical insurance to pay for babies who are born with difficulties.

This is all from the political party that would ban abortion completely for "religious" reasons but that could care less about a child once born. A pox on the GOP!

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
