Trump appoints an anti-abortion activist, who does not believe that birth control works, to head up a federal family planning program for low income Americans.

Teresa Manning.
Courtesy of HuffPo:

Manning, a former lobbyist with the National Right to Life Committee and legislative analyst for the conservative Family Research Council, will serve as deputy assistant secretary for population affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services. The Office of Population Affairs administers the Title X program, which subsidizes contraception, Pap smears and other preventive health care services for 4 million low-income Americans, roughly half of whom are uninsured.

Manning has said she opposes federal family planning funding, and she has a long history of making false claims about birth control and women’s health.

“Of course, contraception doesn’t work,” she said in a 2003 NPR interview. “Its efficacy is very low especially when you consider over years, which you know a lot of contraception health advocates want, to start women in their adolescent years when they’re extremely fertile, incidentally. And continue for 10, 20, 30 years, over that span of time the prospect that contraception would always prevent the conception of a child is preposterous.”

Manning has referred to abortion as “legalized crime” and mistakenly argued that emergency contraception, which can prevent pregnancy for up to 72 hours after unprotected sex, is “the destruction of a human life already conceived.” (It’s not.) She has also claimed that the link between abortion and breast cancer is “undisputed,” when there is actually no evidence of a causal relationship between the two.

Just another example of Trump putting people in charge of programs so that they can undermine them or outright destroy them.

A woman who does not believe in contraception heading a family planning program, it is like an Onion article come to life.

"and she has a long history of making false claims about birth control and women’s health." False claims? Why not use the correct word, "lies." Why is the press so hesitant to use the word "lie" when it comes to the trump administration?

    1. Anonymous 8:53 AM wrote: False claims? Why not use the correct word, "lies."

You are being overly generous to Ms. Manning. Using the word "lying" is generally taken to mean that the person concerned has some shred of a clue that the claims are indeed false.

What evidence have you that she has enough knowledge of the subject matter to know, or even suspect, that the claims she is making are false?

You're suggesting that she is deliberately misrepresenting reality. I'm suggesting a stronger alternative.

    2. Anonymous12:09 PM

Where in the heck does the orangutan find these disgusting, hateful, brain dead liars! That is you Theresa Manning!
In the sewer? Where else? I have never even heard of any of them!
She is clearly a scum sucker and zealot!

    3. Anonymous12:28 PM

the orange asshole doesn't find any of them as he hasn't a clue what the fuck is going on. All these appointments are driven by that anti american leninist steve bannon ..

  3. Anonymous9:06 AM

OT...this made me cry, laugh and appreciate Jimmy Kimmel. His plea for health care is wonderful.

You might want to correct your headline for this article. It makes it sound like the woman is an advocate for contraception.

  4. Anonymous9:17 AM

Oh gee, stop saying the fat orange embecile needs to study more or this and that.
We have an ignorant, dumb as rocks loser, demented office holder. Just like hag sarah, it cannot improve!
    It never will!

  5. Anonymous9:18 AM

That assclown should not be appointing anything except his lawyers for the impeachment hearings. PERIOD.

  6. Anonymous9:21 AM

Every fucking day I think I must be living in a nightmare. This is bizarro world at its worst.

  7. Anonymous9:22 AM

Teresa, STFU, and after you do, pluck your brows and get a decent haircut. Also, brush your teeth.

    1. Anonymous9:37 AM

Those are the 3 things she uses for BC.

    2. Anonymous 9:22 AM wrote: pluck your brows … decent haircut … brush your teeth.

      Argumentum ad hominem.

    3. Anonymous2:24 PM

Hey Teddyboy - did you lose your way to the peepond? When someone is sooooo dumb (and presumably has a law degree - from where a box of CrackerJack?) that she thinks hormonal and other scientifically proven means of birth control don't work, not to mention the studies in the social sciences that show longer term BC is better for teens and we have the declining teen pregnancy rate to back that up - yeah she likely needs to be reminded to perform normal hygiene tasks, then you and your "daughter" should be grateful for the reminder.

As for ad hominem arguments yellow-toothy Terry seems to subscribe to those - this entire lawsuit is an ad hominem, just like T.Rump's losing one against the Honorable Judge Curiel. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jun/29/teresa-manning-loses-iowa-law-school-conservative-/

    4. Anonymous10:25 PM

We grok that term, Ted. Every kid who never took a philosophy course knows the idiot-card list of logical arguments which they believe will slay their opponents.

      Try harder, Ted.

  8. Anonymous9:32 AM

Looking at Teresa Manning's face, she doesn't need birth control. Who in hell would stick their penis into that?

    1. Anonymous11:04 AM

      Anybody who would fuck Bristol.

    2. Anonymous11:28 AM

      Oh sheet! Hahaha!!

    3. PolySci12:32 PM

Ms Manning fell out of the fugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

      Kinda has Sarah's luster though!

  9. It violates my sincerely held religious beliefs (tip o' the hat to the Flying Spaghetti Monster)that people like Drumpf and Manning are allowed to hold gubmint office. I want them removed immediately and forcibly if possible.

    1. Anonymous5:14 PM

      I’m with you buddy.

  10. Anonymous9:43 AM

How many kids does she have? I can attest after three planned children, that contraception DEFINITELY works. Did she get knocked up in HS? Where does this administration find these ignorant people??

    “Of course, contraception doesn’t work,”

Yes it does and that is why I only have one child... because it does work!

    1. Anonymous10:21 AM

      It WAS/is why I have ZER0

    2. Anonymous1:34 PM

Me too, none for me. I got fixed when I was 30 because I knew that parenthood didn't fit into my lifestyle plans, and boy, at age 51 am I ever glad that I didn't buy into that bullshit. I don't know anyone that can honestly admit that they are happy with their decision to breed, which is a great relief because at times I actually thought I might be missing out on something, but nope, it's just as terrible as I always thought it would be.

    3. Anonymous5:38 PM

And I wanted multiple bio kiddos, unfortunately after 4 late term miscarriages, then one bio kid, then, 2 more miscarriages, and then a stillborn, I was done. We looked at BC and my husband got a vasectomy. I also used BC before we were married and inbetween failed pregnancies to give my next pregnancy the best chance of succeeding.Of course BC works, but the GOP only wants access for the ruling class.

  15. Anonymous10:25 AM

This woman is as insane as her boss. When can we impeach him and dump her?

  16. Anonymous10:47 AM

But Trump created a bigger problem for himself than he thought because Dickerson’s friend Stephen Colbert also works for CBS, and while Dickerson had to exercise professionalism and restraint, Colbert informed Trump that as a comedian he isn’t held to same standard.

“Donald Trump, John Dickerson is a fair-minded journalist and one of the most competent people who will ever walk into your office,” Colbert said. “John Dickerson has way too much dignity to trade insults with the president of the United States to his face. But I, sir, am no John Dickerson.”

With the gauntlet thrown down, Colbert proceeded to tear Trump apart with a scathing round of insults that will turn Trump into a stuttering mess if he ever sees it.

“Mr. Trump, your presidency? I love your presidency, I call it ‘Disgrace the Nation.’” Colbert said. “You’re not the POTUS, you’re the BLOTUS. You’re the glutton with a button. You’re a regular ‘Gorge’ Washington. You’re the presi-dunce. But you’re turning into a real prictator. You talk like a sign language gorilla who got hit in the head. You have more people marching against you than cancer.”

And then Colbert delivered the knockout blow.

“Sir, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s d*ck holster.”

    Absolutely. Sick. Burn.

"Eve hated birth control. Hated it, was totally against it. Said it didn't even work, folks. She should have been the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. She had a really big heart and was a solid 10. A total babe. She also hated Planned Parenthood. Really bad group of ombres, those people. She said she would shut them down. Great woman Eve. If she had used birth control, she would never have had Jesus. Think about that for awhile. Let that sink in. They don't make women like they did back then."

    1. Anonymous2:21 PM

From the Book of Genesis it looks like Eve only had two sons.

    2. Anonymous4:58 PM

I was channeling drumpf ala his Andrew Jackson comments yesterday. Facts are not needed or useful when imitating drumpf.

  21. There's hope for Bristol yet -- this woman will need a few deputy assistants to help her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Anonymous10:27 PM

Sexist to the core. At least you advertise your shortcomings in your own chosen moniker.

  22. Well, if Manning is Catholic, I don't doubt she thinks birth control is ineffective.

Jumping up and down 10 times? Nope.

    Pulling out before climax? Nope.

Rhythm? Bwa ha ha ha NOPE.

Celibacy? Nope. Because virile young people aren't going to be celibate. If you study history even priests and nuns had children so.....not celibate. And they took VOWS. Not that this nutjob would acknowledge that.

But basically birth control as she accepts it (not the pill or diaphragm) doesn't work.

Not sure why people are so surprised. Trump has made it a signature of his administration to appoint the absolute worst people to positions. If they hold opposite views to the mission of that department all the better. So an oil man to dismantle the EPA and this misogynist in charge of women's health.

    No brainer.

Which is perfectly consistent with Trump's mental deterioration.

I think Bannon is still pulling the strings. This reeks of him. He is out to destroy the nation and how better than to put these people in charge?

    1. Anonymous5:33 PM

      Most USA Catholics use BC.

  23. Anonymous12:24 PM

    Omg, ivanka is a freak!

    Policy in the outhouse.....hahaha

What a crock of sheet that so called wh. Please just fire all of them, security walk them all out.

    Losers! The lot of them!

    1. Anonymous1:35 PM

How many of Ivanka's children actually were conceived with her Daddy? I bet more than one.

    2. Anonymous3:13 PM

Ivanka needs to find herself a new dentist. Her Steve Harvey teeth are horrible.

  24. Anonymous1:31 PM

Lots of poor people convinced to have babies they aren't smart enough to raise and are too poor to feed. YAY! Family resource centers are sure to be busy as is the diminished social safety net.

Already 26 million American kids go to bed hungry each night, why not 52 million, unwanted, underfed and undereducated.

Let's raise that bar and MAGA ;-)

More for the (R) slave army.

    2. "The Handmaid's Tale"

  25. Anonymous2:12 PM

Another conservocrap LOSER who tries to blame others for her own shortcomings.

  26. Anonymous2:20 PM

Of course he did. Every Cabinet position and every Agency head (or in this case, assistant) has been carefully picked by Bannon and Co. to disrupt and destroy the department or agency he or she will head. And somehow, they'll blame it all on the Democrats and especially on President Obama. The hen house has been completely overrun by the foxes. Just wait until they start to devour one another.

  27. Randall2:50 PM

    I wonder...
will the Democrats get out and VOTE next time?

  28. CorningNY4:26 PM

I can't even wrap my head around the idea of saying that contraception doesn't work. Obviously, it's not 100% foolproof....but it DOES work. Has she never heard of the Duggar family? Of 19 kids fame? THAT'S what happens when you don't use BC. What an idiot Teresa Manning is.

  29. Anonymous2:10 PM

    Crazzzy witch is Teresa woManning.

Don't feed the trolls!
