"I don't want you to get shooted." Heartbreaking video of Philando Castile's girlfriend and her daughter minutes after he was fatally shot by police.

Courtesy of Law Newz:

In the aftermath of Officer Jeronimo Yanez‘s acquittal after fatally shooting Philando Castile, new material related to the case continues to be released.

Just this morning, Tony Webster, an independent journalist and researcher from Minnesota, provided video obtained via a FOIA request of Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, in the back of a squad car with her four-year-old daughter in the immediate moments after Castile was gunned down.

The video is harrowing, hard to watch, and contains strong language. Reynolds can be heard screaming, at whichh point her four-year-old daughter Dae’Anne then rises to the occasion to console her grieving mother, saying, “Please don’t scream because I don’t want you to get shooted … I can keep you safe … I wish this town was safer.”

That is hard to watch I don't care who you are.

Children should never be terrified of the police, but clearly in this case this little girl has every reason to fear them, and to fear for the safety of her mother.

She just watched the man who she probably thought of as her father shot to death right in front of her eyes.

Why? Because he was exercising his 2nd Amendment rights while black.

And perhaps the worst part is that the man who murdered him, walked away scott free.

As Trevor Noah pointed out the other night, if this were a white man the NRA would be so far up that police department's ass they could watch their breakfast digest.

But not for a black man, for a black man legally carrying a firearm is a potential death sentence.

This whole murder has been so disturbing. It just sickens me that this man was complying with the officer's requests, after being pulled over for a bogus reason, only to be shot to death in cold blood still behind his seatbelt. There's no telling how badly this will affect that poor young girl for years to come because of this senseless murder.

  2. As with many another instance, the only question this jury looked to settle for themselves was that they'd never need a Philando Castile or a Diamond Reynolds, but they might one day need a cop.

So sad. People have to start being spies. The press have to become spies as well with this gop run gov't.
Get electronic bugs and hidden electronic cameras. Lets see what is really said.

I have never had a problem with law enforcement. But in the last few years I have noticed a change in attitude and character in certain areas. I realize the challenges that police have. I realize the pay is not up to cost of living, It is a chosen profession. Police today are more defensive and paranoid due to the flood of guns in hands of everyone. I don't have the answers but trusting law enforcement is important. I hope the child will be ok in the future.

  5. Listening to this was heartbreaking. I despair for this poor child. As a black foreign national looking on at the USA I understand very clearly people like me are not welcomed there and I will not be visiting since I am certain I would experience constant paranoia of fear of execution by police for being black. I used to enjoy my visits but no more.

I understand how you feel Cherrie Ann and you are right. It's not safe to be black in the USA. The number of shootings recorded on videos demonstrate that black people have been shot, choked, beaten, kicked, jailed for minor offenses and died in prison for no other reason than the fact that they were black.
A large segment of the US population supports that obviously since in most cases the police officer is found "not guilty" even when there was no threat to his life (other than the fear of the black man). It's apparent that this is the segment who voted for and still supports Donald Trump because they use the same rhetoric and arguments: fear anyone who's not white and christian.
It's very unfortunate for the many US citizens who are bravely trying to fight the racism, bigotry and xenophobia that afficts so many others but it's going to take many generations before things change. The right-wing media, the propaganda and the prejudices are just too prevalent to disappear quickly. In the meantime, the whole of the United States will be judged according to the rhetoric and the actions of this segment of the population because it's the one running the show right now up to the White House.

I think it was unfair of us as a country to force the freed slaves to remain here in America, that is a big part of the problem.

They should have been allowed to "go back home" and be repatriated and then our racial issues would have been fewer as so many whites seem to not be able to accept them as equals. I really feel that a best case scenario is that races, religions and ideologies should separate us into groups of "likes" and then there aren't as many prejudices.

Blacks were forcibly brought here to America and we owed it to them to make sure that they got back home.

  9. I watched the shooting video and the killer froze in one position for over three minutes (maybe longer) after the shooting.

I can honestly say there will be a civil lawsuit and a large sum of money paid to this little child and her mother.

That precious young girl has more humanity than the police.

The mother said on tv yesterday that both she and her little girl were in therapy. I can't begin to imagine how that is going to scar her for life. Both of them for that matter. I hope they sue & the family too and win.

It's also no surprise that Trump says not one word when an American muslim is killed.

This had me tearing up, what that little girl went through will affect her the rest of her life. Watch Wednesday night's Daily Show and Trevor Noahs' comment about the dashcam video that was just released showing the shooting. How in the fuck did the jury see that video and still find the officer not guilty. Noah also shows another video that diamond Phillips took where the cop is yelling at her and she is answering politely, calling him sir. I urge u to watch the whole segment, Noah nails it

It would seem if there is a concealed weapon permit that there would be a procedure for the police to ask the permit holder to retrieve weapon and license. This was odd and awful.

American morality needs to be reevaluated after this video.
    This is state sponsored terrorism.
