New strategy from White House operatives, attack and discredit reporters.

This was buried deep in a WaPo story:

Trump and his advisers are deeply frustrated that the disclosure by Trump Jr. has overshadowed the positive coverage they expected to receive from the president’s trip abroad, as well as other issues they hoped to spotlight this week, such as the Senate health-care bill and trade.

A handful of Republican operatives close to the White House are scrambling to Trump Jr.’s defense and have begun what could be an extensive campaign to try to discredit some of the journalists who have been reporting on the matter.

Their plan, as one member of the team described it, is to research the reporters’ previous work, in some cases going back years, and to exploit any mistakes or perceived biases. They intend to demand corrections, trumpet errors on social media and feed them to conservative outlets, such as Fox News.

But one outside adviser said a campaign against the press when it comes to Trump Jr.’s meeting could be futile: “The meeting happened. It’s tough to go to war with the facts.”

Attacking the press was a feature of Trump's campaign, and has carried over into his actual presidency.

That being said attempting to dig up dirt on journalists in order to embarrass them publicly, or threaten them privately, is on a whole other level.

And the fact that Fox News, or any other news outlet, would cooperate with an operation like this is shameful and demonstrates a complete lack of journalistic ethics.

This will work about as well as Trump trashing the intelligence community.

Donald Trump, Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner before they were cast in House of Cards.

  2. Anonymous11:43 AM

I guess they think that is a winner strategy. The reality TV star knows how to control the news, his way.

    Here's another winner.

And no one thinks that he's taking advice from Palin???

  3. Anonymous11:47 AM

Of course, Faux News hires only the best!!O'Reilly, Palin, those hussies who accuse Ailes and others of sexual harassment. The ones who hike up their skirts before the camera turns to them. Oh, and that paragon of virtue Chaffetz. They had better watch who they go after, revenge will be SWEET.

Americans need to SUPPORT the media w/the exception of FOX (unless you are a die hard Republican!).

This Trump bunch of idiot are so damn evil it isn't funny. I badly want him and his out of office and D.C.

    IMPEACHMENT truly is required!!!!

    1. Anonymous2:55 PM

That could take years. I hope he drops dead during one of his temper tantrums. I've noticed he is looking not too healthy.

    2. Anonymous5:04 AM

Articles of Impeachment have been filed.
Sherman, D-California & Green, D-Texas have officially filed, according to yesterday's RawStory.

  5. Anonymous11:55 AM

What a pathetic man he is. After years of living in NYC where he certainly learned which paper or network is well regarded and which are NOT he chooses to speak only to those on the NOT list. I understand it is because they are the ones who bow to him and kiss his feet, but what a sad state of affairs that he thinks they are the good and valid journalists. SAD, as he likes to say.

And, an "aside" -- how could he have expected positive coverage of him after that disaster of a trip overseas? He is truly living in alternative world, and that is really SAD for all of us.

  6. Anonymous12:07 PM

Come on Kushner and Trumps, everybody including the Republicans Party knows exactly what you did. By trying to distract everybody with a shiny object, just man up and accept your consequences.

  7. Anonymous12:22 PM

A page right out of Putin's playbook. And no surprise- Putin is Trumplethinskin's hero!

  8. Anonymous12:23 PM

Come on Kushner and Trumps, everybody knows exactly what you did. By trying to distract everybody with a shiny object, just man up and accept your consequences.

  9. Anonymous12:35 PM

Nothing will change the Trump's downward spiral. They will be going down faster and faster.
More shoes to drop. Kushner will not come out of this unscathed. There is so much more to come regardless of any Trump tactic.

It is terrific to see him so desaparate.

But one outside adviser said a campaign against the press when it comes to Trump Jr.’s meeting could be futile: “The meeting happened. It’s tough to go to war with the facts.”

That last sentence is rich -- It is what Trump and his entire GOP enablers do
-- go to war -- against FACTS!
This is, IMO, the worse problem America has right now.
It's not stupid Trump, it's GOP's 25-30 MILLION voter base that believes, in their arrogant ignorance that "My opinion is worth more than the (fake!!!!) facts."

    They can never be reached...

"And the fact that Fox News, or any other news outlet, would cooperate with an operation like this is shameful and demonstrates a complete lack of journalistic ethics."

Not to mention it will open the floodgates of video montages showing how the Fox bobbleheads are utter contemptible hypocrites on any and all matters they decide are attack worthy against the other guys. I swear, they NEVER learn that video is forever.

CNN hads video shows Trump with Russians tied to email controversy.

  15. Good. Let's also investigate the operatives!

  16. Anonymous1:57 PM

I think the articles of impeachment that were just signed are going to over-hadow everything. ROFLMAO Popcorn anyone?

  17. Anonymous1:58 PM

Seems to me that Trump has been attacking and discrediting reporters since he entered the political arena. He doesn't know how to behave in any other way.

  18. Anonymous1:58 PM

    Let me get this straight:

Donald duckling Jr. was the source for the email leak and Donald Duckling, Sr. is crying "fake news." Does that sum it up?

Long dormant Kremlin-connected Twitter account suddenly roars back to life to help Donald Trump

  20. Anonymous2:34 PM

I just wish this would stop. I want America to be the way it was when Obama was in the White House. Peaceful, hardworking, and giving us a sense of pride at being a country with diversity.
Now Trump is trying to transition us back to the 1950s and we don't want that.
Plus, he's attacking, attacking, attacking. Tiring.
I hope that the American people regain their senses and get this maniac out of the house before its way past late. Sorrow.

WATCH: CNN obtains footage of Trump palling around with Russian figures at the center of Don Jr.’s emails

Despite Donald Trump’s repeated assurances that he knows “nothing about Russia,” new video obtained by CNN shows the president hanging out with the very people at the center of Donald Trump Jr.’s controversial email correspondence.

In the video—recoreded in Las Vegas in 2013—Trump can be seen with Emin and Aras Agalarov, the Russians who allegedly asked manager Rod Goldstone to set up a meeting between a Russian lawyer and Turmp Jr.

“We all think alike,” Emin Agalarov says in the video.

“These are the most powerful people in Russia, these are the richest people in Russia,” Trump later adds.

In an interview with Sean Hannity Tuesday night, Trump Jr. insisted he’d only met Emin Agalarov “once or twice,” and while the president’s eldest son does not appear in the 2013 video, his father certainly seems chummy with the Russian moguls.

Watch the video below, via CNN:

A team of advisers to the President crafted Donald Trump, Jr.’s initial statement on his meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer, in which the eldest Trump son said that the meeting was about Russian adoption and left out the fact that he was promised dirt on Hillary Clinton, according to a Tuesday night New York Times report.

Team of advisers will be hauled in to swear under oath what they know and did.

Positive news on trade, like nobody wants to trade with the US any more, that Europe and Mexico and Canada are happy to trade with each other and Asia, that Mexico and Canada will walk away from NAFTA and tell Trump to go fuck himself, leaving the US isolated with no markets and closed factories and massive unemployment? That kind of positive news?
