Alec Baldwin returns to SNL to mock Trump's response to Charlottesville.

Courtesy of Rolling Stone:

Alec Baldwin dusted off his Saturday Night Live Donald Trump impersonation on Thursday's Weekend Update: Summer Edition. He lampooned the president's controversial response to the Charlottesville tragedy, defensive Phoenix rally and bizarre choice to stare directly at the sun during the solar eclipse.

"How about that eclipse, folks, huh?" Trump said onstage during the mock rally, wearing sunglasses. "A lot of people don't know this, but you can damage your eyes while looking at an eclipse.

"After praising the mostly white crowd as "fantastic," Trump attempted to "set the record straight" by clarifying his widely criticized response to the deadly protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"You have a group on one side that's very bad, neo-Nazis, and you had a group on the other side' – and then I didn't say a single word after that," he said.

Must keep our sense of humor.

It is what sustained me through eight years of George W. Bush and by gosh it will sustain me through the predicted year and a half of the Trump presidency.

  1. Still not an executive order. Just a memo. And possibly still did not follow the procedures for this sort of order.

"President Donald Trump signed a memo Friday banning new transgender men or women from enlisting in the military, the Military Times reports.

The presidential memo, which has been delivered to the Pentagon, also tasks Defense Secretary Jim Mattis with determining whether to remove already enlisted transgender individuals from service, and it bars the military from funding gender confirmation surgery."

"Dana White, a spokeswoman for Mattis, issued a brief statement Friday, saying the department had received the White House guidance and that “more information will be forthcoming.”"

Received the "White House Guidance." Not ORDER. Guidance.

They're just gonna sit on it until he changes his mind or forgets or something.

"Trump has given Mattis until Jan. 1 to determine whether active transgender military servicemen and women can continue to serve."

If Trump is still president by January 1.

And of course, Trump make a hypocrite of himself on Friday by praising the military and veterans for their service.

  2. So, while thousands of Americans grab their kids and their pets and flee for their lives, what does Trump do for the Friday dump?

Well, he declares Hurricane Harvey a disaster before it even touches land.

Trump signed a memo banning transgender individuals from newly enlisting in the military.

Trump pardoned a former sheriff with a history of racist actions.

Seb Gorka resigned. (We only have Stephen Miller to go now.)

His administration teased they’d end DACA.

His Mr. Feel Good press person that provided those twice a day positive propaganda folders has resigned.

Then he wished Texas good luck and departed for Camp David.

Camp David? Isn't this the second weekend he's gone to Camp David? Is this the start of austerity because he squandered the Secret Service budget?

    All in the Friday dump.

I have to wonder what he thinks is going to happen over the weekend to make everyone forget all of this crap by Monday.
