Despite having a Nazi sympathizer in the White House the FBI is still investigating about 1,000 cases against white supremacists and other domestic terrorists.

Courtesy of WaPo:

The FBI is conducting about 1,000 investigations of suspected white supremacists or other types of domestic terrorists who might be planning violence, top federal officials told Senate lawmakers Wednesday.

Christopher A. Wray, in his first congressional testimony as FBI director, confirmed that his office has about 1,000 inquiries that people generally categorize as “domestic terrorism’’ — a catchall term often used to describe those motivated to commit violence in furtherance of racist causes.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, prompted Wray to confirm the number. FBI officials have previously said they had about 1,000 ongoing investigations in the United States of suspects who may be inspired by the Islamic State terrorist group to commit violence.

Wednesday’s hearing was the first public indication that the FBI is dealing with a similar number of domestic terrorism cases.

“We’re very busy,’’ Wray said. Asked by Johnson if there are any differences in how the FBI handles white supremacist terrorism cases vs. Islamic State terrorism cases, he said there are not, except for the criminal laws that may be applied.

Of course now the question is how long will these investigations be allowed to continue before Trump has his people put a stop to them?

Because as we know these are Trump's people, his base even.

And why would he want them to be investigated?

After all it is awfully difficult to vote in a election while locked in a prison cell.

Gryphen, here is a piece of news you may not have heard about. Lt. Gen. Jay Silvera gave a speech to all the cadets of the USAF aAcademy and point blank TOLD them if they can't treat everyone with respect, "...you need to get out."

    http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-41445810/stirring-speech-to-us-air-force-cadets-over-racist-slurs

It was very compelling and and I believe taken that way by the listeners. According to the BBC, the speech was made less than an hour ago.

Trump Is Trying To Make Facebook Give Him Personal Info Of People Who Criticize Him

Lawyers for the Trump administration have served Facebook with three separate search warrants, demanding the private account information of users who could be described in their words as “anti-administration activists who have spoken out at organized events, and who are generally very critical of this administration’s policies.” Read: Trump critics, and this has the potential to affect thousands of Facebook users.

Fortunately, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a motion to quash the warrants on Thursday on behalf of three Facebook users. “What is particularly chilling about these warrants is that anti-administration political activists are going to have their political associations and views scrutinized by the very administration they are protesting,” said ACLU attorney Scott Michelman.

Analyzing a collection of 600 Twitter accounts that are known to be linked to Russia—including openly pro-Russian users, accounts that take part in Russian disinformation campaigns, and automated bot accounts that parrot Russian messaging—the researchers found “PhoenixRally,” “Antifa,” and “MAGA" were among the most common hashtags used by these accounts following the violent rally in Virginia. Exclusive: Evangelicals urge more action from Trump against alt-right

A group of prominent evangelical Christians is calling on President Donald Trump to take further steps to condemn white supremacists -- specifically those in the alt-right -- following the August white nationalist demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left one woman dead.

A letter that has been circulating privately among a coalition of pastors notes Trump's efforts to denounce the white supremacists, but urges the President to go further in condemning the alt-right "by name."
"This movement has escaped your disapproval," the letter, obtained exclusively by CNN, reads. "We believe it is important for this movement to be addressed, for at its core it is a white identity movement and the majority of its members are white nationalists or white supremacists. This movement gained public prominence during your candidacy for President of the United States. Supporters of the movement have claimed that you share their vision for our country. These same supporters have sought to use the political and cultural concerns of people of goodwill for their prejudiced political agendas. It concerned many of us when three people associated with the alt-right movement were given jobs in the White House."

...All along, Trump has been demonizing Hispanic people who want to be a part of the United States. Sure enough, here he is, having barely lifted a finger to help a United States territory that’s 98% Hispanic. It serves to confirm what the left has been telling the middle all along: the guy’s a racist.

Trump partnered with the Agalarovs on the 2013 Miss Universe contest near Moscow and on a deal to build a Trump tower in Moscow,"
" Trump, who cut his company’s ties to the project after his election, never held an ownership stake in the tower. But he disclosed earning up to $2.8 million for licensing his name on it. The New Yorker reported this year that Mammadov awarded contracts to a group closely linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and that evidence “strongly suggests” Mammadov has profited by helping the guard, which the United States has considered naming a TERRORI$T organization, launder money through various Azerbaijani construction projects."While Trump may not have known of malfeasance on the project, US courts have criminalized “conscious avoidance,” in which investors purposely remain in the dark about corrupt practices by foreign partners."
"This year, Azerbaijan’s embassy hired two lobbying firms: the Podesta Group, with Democratic ties, and BGR Government Affairs, staffed mostly by Republicans. Both firms offer the country advice on US relations and do public relations work. Azerbajian, which has long employed lobbyists through state-run firms and varied organizations promoting trade ties with the United States, may still be hiring. Last week, Politico reported that Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, had promised Azerbaijian’s ambassador he could get Aliyev a meeting with Trump."

Trump faces growing backlash over Puerto Rico

President Donald Trump and his aides are facing a growing backlash over their response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, with federal teams on the island struggling to deliver aid to those in need even as the White House trumpets its efforts as a success story.

The tension over the Trump administration’s self praise spilled out on Friday morning, with the San Juan mayor lashing out at acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke, who said on Thursday that the Maria relief efforts are a "good news story.”

“Damn it, this is not a good news story. This is a people are dying story. This is a life-or-death story,” San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz said on CNN. “When you have to pull people down from their buildings — I'm sorry, but that really upsets me and frustrates me. You know, I would ask her to come down here and visit the towns, and then make a statement like that which frankly it is an irresponsible statement.”

Trump Isn’t Hiding His Racism After Suggesting It’s Too Expensive To Rebuild Puerto Rico

Red states Florida and Texas got all the resources they needed after hurricanes hit them, but Trump is suggesting that decisions have to be made when it comes to the cost of rebuilding Puerto Rico.

...There was no such talk to decisions having to made after hurricanes hit Florida and Texas. The difference between the two states and Puerto Rico is that 99% of the population is Hispanic on the island.

Republicans have made this argument before. After Hurricane Katrina, some Republicans in Congress argued that it was too expensive to rebuild New Orleans. In reality, the real issue is never money. It is a question of who lives in an area and how they vote. If Puerto Rico were 99% white and adored Donald Trump, the President wouldn’t have raised the question of the cost of the rebuild.

Puerto Rico has endured a fiscal crisis and two hurricanes. They don’t need to add the racism of Trump to their suffering.

The question on rebuilding Puerto Rico should not be whether or not to rebuild, but how fast we can get the job done.

Puerto Ricans are US citizens, and there is no acceptable excuse for not rebuilding.

"He’s lauded for putting a black woman on the cover of Playboy when no other mainstream, white-run magazine would. But how is it that even in 2017 we are celebrating this as a “WIN” for equal treatment of African Americans? Why is it considered social progress to encourage men to gawk at the naked bodies of black women, as white men have been doing since the beginning of American slavery?"
"H>“These chicks are our natural enemy. What I want is a devastating piece that takes the militant feminists apart. They are unalterably opposed to the romantic boy-girl society that Playboy promotes.”A critical look at Hefner’s legacy is even more crucial today with a serial sexual abuser in the White House who has cycled through statuesque trophy wives and tacitly endorsed violence against women."
" He called them objects, and believed that sexual liberation would heal us all. It hasn’t. Life in America is still much harder for women than it is for men, socially, economically and psychologically. It’s a world that Playboy, and the mogul behind it, helped forge."

Madison writes, "Around the turn of the millennium, it became fashionable for women to appear stupid — to get by solely on their looks and to be concerned only with fame and materialism. Some of the effects of that moment in the zeitgeist still linger today."
" "like an episode of Hoarders." With hardcore porn playing on two TV screens, Hefner masturbated as the women play-acted lesbian scenes. No one was into it. A girlfriend whose name Madison changed to Vicky in the book pushed her toward Hefner while urging him to "be with the new girl." Madison writes, "It was so brief that I can't even recall what it felt like beyond having a heavy body on top of mine."

And some of those women had taken Hefner's Quaaludes. "

FBI testimony shows just how serious the white nationalist threat is

Their online reach remains international, despite efforts to shut them down.

...But the white nationalists haven’t gone away. They’ve just gotten better at hiding, and a series of revelations over the last week shows their continued threat.

On Wednesday the new head of the FBI, Christopher Wray, told the Senate Homeland Security Committee that his agency “has about 1,000 open domestic-terrorism investigations as we speak” – a term most often used to describe white nationalists, hardline right-wing militias, and Christian secessionists. “I don’t think Americans understand the level of threat we have in this country from white supremacists,” Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill said.
