Back-to-school shopping can be stressful but shoppers at a Walmart in Michigan saw that stress take a violent turn after an argument over a notebook ended with a gun being drawn. It all happened on Monday afternoon as two pairs of women were shopping in the town of Novi, near Detroit. One of them reached for the last notebook on a shelf as did another woman. That invariably led to arguments about who was the rightful owner of that precious notebook and some pushing and shoving ensued. When two women, one aged 46 and the other 32, moved on to hair pulling, the mother of the 20-year-old who was involved in the altercation pulled out a loaded gun.
“She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them,” Novi Police Detective Scott Baetens said. “It was a senseless act of violence all the way around.” Police are now working with prosecutors to try to determine whether the woman’s actions could be classified as self-defense. She had a valid concealed gun license.
Of course the woman who pulled the gun ended up with the notebook because that is how you get what you want in America these days. Apparently.
I can't believe that police are trying to determine whether this is an act of self defense or not.
The woman introduced deadly force into a hair pulling fight.
It should ALWAYS be against the law to threaten to end a person's life over a fucking back to school notebook. Period!
The gun jumpers are always saying an armed society is a polite society. Guess this puts that bullshit to rest.
ReplyDeleteEmily Litella- Who buys schools supplies while armed? I told you this would happen when Blacks run cities like Detroit.
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase- Emily, the people in Walmart were all white.
Emily Litella- OH! Never mind.
Walmart- where the Bluelight Special now gets you an ambulance ride to the hospital with a GSW or two...
DeleteNovi is a northwestern suburb of Detroit. This had nothing to do with African Americans although I suspect the crazy woman involved would try to explain her behavior as having to do with her fear of fellow shoppers because, you know, one or more of them could be of a different race, ethnicity or religion. And some people would agree with her.
DeleteBeagle mom
Novi is an upper middle class neighborhood in the suburbs, if she was trying to infer it was the “ghetto” by referring to blacks in Detroit.
DeleteHad they been black, charges WOULD have been filed! Setting great examples for their children, eh?
ReplyDeleteWoman with gun was just given the go ahead to take what she wants at the point of her gun.
ReplyDeleteBack to the lawless Western days.
And that must have been some notebook! Lets look into that alone. Why in the hell would you even fight over something like that with or without a gun? Something not right with the so called Americans. And I am an American.
Shit if that's how it's gonna be for a effing notebook can't wait for Christmas.
No kidding! Why I avoid Black Friday like the plague.
DeleteA oblivious monster trump supporter! Was she wearing her bathing suit as well?
ReplyDeleteJust like to remind everybody that just a few years ago a black man was shot and killed at a Wal-Mart for holding a TOY gun.
ReplyDeleteAnd if I remember correctly, he was a little slow mentally, too.
Delete@ Leland, no he was not. Jonathan Crawford III was unfairly gunned down. A false threat was called in to the police on him by a guy named ronald richie. The police rolled in told him to put the weapon down, and shot him with in 2 seconds. He didn't even know what hit him. In the chaos that ensued from him being shot a white woman had a heart attack and died. No charges where pressed on mr richie for the false report to 911. Get the fucking story right.
DeleteNo he was just suffering from unforgivable blackness. The 2nd Amendment is for all unless you look like John Crawford or Philando Castile. Then you get gunned down in front of small children.
DeleteWell, EXCUSE ME, 12:11, for not remembering it properly. I do know what I described happened at one of the stores, so I got confused about it. SUE ME!
Delete@Leland 4:11 PM
DeleteNot attacking you, but most of the time some one of color is killed the victim shaming begins moments after they take their last breath.
The press was digging around in the characters of Crawford and castile within hours. They didn't know what to do with themselves when they found no records. The right wing press lied about them having arrest records.
DeleteFox, for one, should be held responsible for these perpetually offended, always angry idiots. GD these people need to cultivate a brain.
ReplyDeleteGeorgiaPeach
If relatives of mine are any indication, it will be a long wait.
DeleteI can hear the NRA congratulating the pos with a gun had she actually shot someone over a freaking notebook. She had every right to stand her ground and take from others because she had the foresight to go armed with intent-shoot to kill shoppers that get in her way. Then Drumpf could pardon her before the mobs get her.
ReplyDeleteOh crap and I just moved to Michigan.
ReplyDeleteWhat were you thinking?
DeleteI won't step foot in a red state.
We Michiganders like to think that the redness of the state, which does not include our two senators or many of our mayors, is a temporary malady.
DeleteBeaglemom
Yeah, it's not as if there were NO OTHER notebooks in the supply chain. My god in heaven...
ReplyDeleteBut you don't understand.
DeleteThat is the ONLY Walmart in the entire world.
That is the ONLY notebook left in the entire world.
It's not like you could find that notebook anywhere, not even on amazon or at Target.
If her child did not have that notebook on Tuesday morning she would be flunking out of all of her classes and have to repeat the entire grade level next year.
Then she wouldn't get into the college of her choice, couldn't even go to any college. She would then get pregnant, become a drug addict and live at home in her parents' basement FOREVER.
You just don't understand.
Once again, white police must search the statutes to find an infraction that can possibly be filed against this Stand-Your-Ground lunatic! Carrying a concealed (loaded?) WEAPON to Wal-Mart!?! I will encourage everyone to avoid these stores & others until sanity is restored or until concealed carry is revoked, which ever happens first.
ReplyDeleteA notebook!?! SMDH!
I never got to Walmart.
DeleteDon't go to Chick-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby either.
I don't even patronize Burger King but that's for an entirely different matter. (Tax scoflaws are now "Canadian")
This is what I term a "He looked at me funny" incident.
ReplyDeleteI had two boys escorted from my classroom and suspended for three days for fighting. It all started because one boy says the other "Looked at me funny.".
Nothing like pulling a gun and murdering someone the last back to school notebook at Walmart. Yeah, that would have played real well before a judge.
Self-defense? Hardly. The cops are idiots. The woman should be arrested and charged.
As for the two adults pulling hair over a notebook? Are you kidding me? Were your kids watching this display? Is that what you want to teach them?
Locally we have all sorts of businesses and charities giving notebooks away for FREE, they can't get rid of them.
Oh, but it had magic pony power princesses on the cover? Who the fuck cares? You want to go to jail for *THAT*?
I don't know about anyone else here but I haven't been in a Walmart for over a decade. Such depressing places just full of trash, both human and the crap they sell.
ReplyDeleteTo me, at least in my way of thinking, Walmart is the largest indicator of just exactly what is wrong with America today.
What a depressing place to shop!
If you think shopping at WalMart is depressing -- I live in a rural Virginia county that votes 75% Republican and where WalMart is upscale shopping.
