Members of a Kansas militia group planned to bomb a mosque.

Source
Courtesy of WRAL:

Three men accused of conspiring to bomb a Kansas mosque and an apartment complex housing Somali refugees also allegedly discussed killing the refugees' white landlord because he rented to Muslims, a move prosecutors say was meant to ensure the attack fully conveyed their anti-Muslim message.

Details of the alleged plot emerged in government filings in advance of an upcoming detention hearing Wednesday for Gavin Wright. His attorney has argued that Wright was unaware his co-defendants intended to actually carry out the attack, portraying him as a lonely man desperate to find friends after moving to Liberal, a city along southwestern Kansas' border with the Oklahoma Panhandle.

But prosecutors countered Wednesday with court filings that include transcripts of profanity-laced recordings that paint a more damning picture of Wright and a splinter group of the militia Kansas Security Force that came to be known as "the Crusaders" — based on the name "Crusaders 2.0" that they gave to themselves on a phone messaging app.

Prosecutors say the defense mischaracterizes the danger Wright presents if freed before trial. They allege that he manufactured and tested the homemade explosives and hosted group meetings at his business, G&G Mobile Home Center, where authorities later found explosives.

So what do we think, Trump supporters?

Oh yes, definitely Trump supporters.

And now that he occupies the White House this can only be the beginning.

What happened to Track Palin? He is such a young man. I would think he wants to belong to something. He failed with hockey, he failed with Iron Dog, he failed with the PTSD treatment his mother talked about. He fails at family relations. Is he a total loner or does he have a secret society?

We know he collects guns and how very important they are to him. More important then children or women. If when you see something, say something could happen in Alaska, that might help to monitor Track. But Palins work overtime to bail him out and cover up any little thing they don't want known.

If you see something, say something.....

They are medicated. They need 24/7 monitoring. Even Todd or especially Todd, don't forget his mess with the faked snow machine hoax.

No one knows when Track will want to beat him up again. Sarah will never tell how many times they pull guns on each other.

1,516 mass shootings in 1,735 days: America's gun crisis – in one chart
The attack at a country music festival in Las Vegas that left at least 58 people dead is the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history – but there were six other mass shootings in America this past week alone.
No other developed nation comes close to the rate of gun violence in America. Americans own an estimated 265m guns, more than one gun for every adult.
Data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive reveals a shocking human toll: there is a mass shooting – defined as four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter – every nine out of 10 days on average.

How many USA mass shootings involved spraying a large crowd like a sniper in a tower? Is that common in USA?

Americans have a special affection for snipers. Snipers are worshiped. Some are good and some are bad. Americans love them all and keep them especially admired.

Killing people with cars is a good way for Americans to kill but you don't kill that many at a time. Most bombs aren't much better. Most guns are limited.

Snipers are more new age and better kills.

The GOP’s Twisted Reality, Where Guns Are a Right But Health Care Is a Privilege

‘Wire’ creator David Simon warns Congress will never work to stop mass shootings — here’s why

In an interview with Salon, Simon sees no chance Congress will ever ever do anything to stop the mass shootings.

“Nope,” he said. “I think Congress is the broken part of the American government. It’s the part that can be [easily] purchased; the price of a representative is fairly cheap by the standards of mass capital.”

He admitted he was shocked at how quickly the “don’t politicize this” comments came up.

“When it comes to gun culture in this country, our house is on fire,” he said. “We’re always told, don’t call 911 now, let’s wait a day. Let’s be respectful. I don’t have any regard for that anymore, I just think it’s an incredibly dishonest framework. Now is exactly the time to look at our gun culture and our gun laws.”

Simon walked through the ways in which the NRA uses millions every election to run ads against candidates to get them to submit to the NRA legislative agenda.

“They live in terror,” he said about politicians. He went on to say he anticipates the NRA or the president will release a statement saying that he wishes more in the crowd of people had been armed.

Statistics show that the “good guys with guns” fighting back against “bad guys with guns” is a fallacy. In this case it is especially true, as the shooter was a half of a mile away from his victims.

Yes, Congress did repeal a rule that made it harder for people with mental illness to buy a gun

The repeal, approved by the Republican-controlled House and Senate, was supported by the NRA and ACLU.

In the aftermath of another mass shooting in America, there’s new attention to a law that Congress passed earlier this year — effectively making it easier for people with mental illness to buy a gun.

In February, President Donald Trump and Congress enacted a law that blocked a last-minute regulation from former President Barack Obama’s administration that required the Social Security Administration to disclose to the FBI information about people who are getting disability benefits due to severe mental illness. The rule was meant to make it a bit easier for the FBI to flag those with severe mental illness while doing a background check on a firearm purchase.

But the National Rifle Association (NRA) and American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), backed predominantly by Republicans in the House and Senate, argued that the rule violated the Second Amendment rights of people with mental illness without adequate due process.

So Congress voted to repeal the rule. And with the Congressional Review Act, the House and Senate only needed a simple majority, along with the president’s approval, to undo the recently enacted regulation.

Cowardly Republicans Refuse To Appear On TV Today. Wonder Why?

Mika Brzezinski thought she needed to explain to viewers why no Republicans were talking about the Las Vegas massacre on Morning Joe today.

"We just want to mention that we did ask a number of Republicans to be on this morning --you're seeing a lot of democratic lawmakers joining us this morning --and they all declined," she said.

Gee, I wonder why. Because they're cowards? And because none of their standard dog-whistle, blame the victim tactics work on a crowd of white, straight, country music fans?

Sen. Chris Murphy got right to the point.

"The fact of the matter is, the entire country is focused on why this happened," he said.

"And the reality is that much of it is rooted in the evil inside this one individual, but much of it is rooted in our laws which allowed him to get his hands on weapons that are illegal in almost every other civilized country.

"Maybe he still would have taken a pistol and killed dozens below but it would have been difficult without the semi-automatic weapon and the modifications legal in this country. I think we have to talk about change immediately. And the fact of the matter is, while everybody is focussed on Las Vegas, mass shootings represent 1% of the gun casualties in this country," he said.

"Every single day, people are being killed by guns. And we need to talk about what's happening in Baltimore and Chicago and Hartford on a daily basis. We can't just bring this up when there's an enormous max execution execution." (Editor's note: Ah, but those are black people being killed! No biggie!)

Willie Geist asked what "what would have stopped this man in Las Vegas from going up in that hotel room and breaking out the window and shooting be into that crowd?"

"There are two Nevada gun stores who say he passed federal background checks. Not a lot in his past that would have been red flags to people. How could this have been prevented? Is there a law? Congressman Hines said yes, he would be for a ban on semi automatic rifles. How about you?"

They are revolting, greedy human beings.

    Republicans, Trapped by Their Flimflam

...But like the G.O.P.’s terrible, no good, very bad health plans, this tax debacle was years in the making. On taxes, as with health, leading Republicans have been lying for years. And now the fraud has caught up with the fraudsters.

The road to this tax-cut turkey began in 2010, when Paul Ryan — now speaker of the House — unveiled the first of a series of much-hyped budget plans, all purporting to offer a blueprint for eliminating the U.S. budget deficit.

In fact, they did no such thing. They proposed major tax cuts — primarily benefiting the rich, of course — then simply asserted that no revenue would be lost, because reduced tax rates would be offset by closing loopholes and eliminating deductions. Which loopholes and deductions? Ryan didn’t say.

In analyzing these plans, the Congressional Budget Office assumed that Ryan’s revenue targets would be met — because he instructed them to make that assumption. But the office cautioned, in what sounds to me like discreet snark, “There were no specifications of particular revenue provisions that would generate that path.”

By the way, the Ryan plans also assumed drastic cuts in spending outside Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. What programs would be cut? The budget office again: “No proposals were specified that would generate that path.”

And what was the Ryan plan if you took out those mysterious revenue raisers and spending cuts? A plan to drastically cut taxes on the rich, savagely cut benefits for the poor and the middle class, and increase the overall deficit.

In other words, it was all a con. As I wrote in a 2010 column titled “The Flimflam Man,” “The Ryan plan is a fraud that makes no useful contribution to the debate over America’s fiscal future.” That judgment looks as valid now as it did then.

...And the con went on for years. To this day one sometimes reads articles portraying Ryan as a serious policy wonk, despite abundant evidence of his unseriousness and real questions about his actual command of policy.

But then Republicans regained the White House, meaning that they had to come up with actual tax legislation. And this has put the con under terrible strain...

    O/T but Great news, G.

Mueller Tasks an Adviser With Getting Ahead of Pre-Emptive Pardons

U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has a distinctly modern problem. The president, judging by his tweets, could try to pardon people in his circle even before prosecutors charge anyone with a crime.

Mueller’s all-star team of prosecutors, with expertise in money laundering and foreign bribery, has an answer to that. He’s Michael Dreeben, a bookish career government lawyer with more than 100 Supreme Court appearances under his belt.

Acting as Mueller’s top legal counsel, Dreeben has been researching past pardons and determining what, if any, limits exist, according to a person familiar with the matter. Dreeben’s broader brief is to make sure the special counsel’s prosecutorial moves are legally airtight.

    Truckers!
'the island’s Teamsters union HAD gone on strike.'

“We need their truck drivers, their drivers have to start driving trucks,” Trump said. “We have to do that, so at a local level they have to give us more help. I will tell you the first responders, the military, FEMA, they have done an incredible job in Puerto Rico, and whether it’s (the San Juan mayor) or anybody else, they’re all starting to say it. I appreciate very much the governor and his comments. He has said we have done an incredible job and that’s the truth.”
