British government begs Prince Harry not to invite Barack Obama to his wedding for fer of angering the orange tyrant in the White House.

Courtesy of The Sun:

Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle have told aides they want the former US president and wife Michelle at their big day on May 19.

The 33-year-old prince has become good friends with the Obamas since bonding with them during the Invictus Games.

But Britain’s relations with Trump’s White House have sunk to their lowest ebb since his election last year.

There are deep fears among senior Foreign Office and No10 officials that another perceived national snub will make it impossible for Theresa May to meaningfully engage with Trump.

A senior government source said: “Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness.

“Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.

“Conversations are ongoing about and ministers will eventually have to decide. If the PM lays down the law, Harry will just have to suck it up.”

As the wedding is not a state occasion, the Government only have a consultative role in its organization and heads of state will not be invited.

First off can you believe you just read that?

Quite literally the British government is trying to dissuade a prince from inviting a personal friend to his own wedding, because it might anger the sitting president of the United States and may negatively impact foreign relations with our country.

That is literally insane.

Of course the thing is that Prince Harry is well known for breaking the rules, so I imagine that Brits will have a hard time convincing him to make a decision like this.

And he absolutely SHOULD NOT!

This is HIS goddamn wedding, Obama is HIS goddamn friend, and this should be NOBODY'S goddamn business.

I still think that Harry and Meghan should make Obama part of their wedding party, and send a huge "fuck you" to Tangerine Hitler.

I think Harry will invite the Obamas to his wedding. He is in no way afraid of Donald Trump and probably despises him as much as the majority of Americans!

This is going to be a hoot and holler to watch. The orange man will turn red!

Yes, why in blue blazes should Harry have to humour imbecile Trump by not inviting the Obamas? He owes the big baby nothing. The British PM was the one who issued the invitation for Trump's visit in May. Let her be the one to pacify him.

Sadly, I believe we and Drumpf will have far bigger concerns when the wedding rolls around.

  3. I think the PM and government are going to be the ones doing the sucking up. Harry doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who is going to cave to this kind of pressure.

There’s no guarantee Trump will still be president in May. For that matter no guarantee May will be PM either. She never should have invited Trump to begin with, so this is all on her and it’s not Harry’s responsibility to bail out her sorry ass.

After that UN shit, the UK should be giving Trump the finger rather than trying to appease him. You’d think they would have learned that lesson.

Since the source is "The Sun" I only half believe anything that they say. But hey, I really hope that the Obamas are guests of honor at the wedding, and I'm pretty certain they will be regardless of what the tabloids speculate.

And no, the ministers will not decide and the PM will not lay down the law. This isn't a state wedding. Aside from security the Royals are paying for it all. It's a small affair in a chapel at a family home.

I think if they tried to get the Queen to have a talk with Harry, she'd probably side with Harry and tell them were to go.

There simply is no advantage to sucking up to that tangerine piece of shit. Better to turn your back, shun him and move on ignoring the tantrum.

There is no appeasing him any more than there was appeasing Hitler by gifting him the Sudetenland. You'd think they'd REMEMBER history.

If Britain disrespects El Cheeto by a prince inviting his friend and former US President to his wedding, the US might pull out of NATO and stop travel between the two countries. Wait, isn't it EL Cheeto who interfered in British politics by encouraging Brexit last year?

Members of Parliament in the UK were against Trump's earlier visit to London. Who gives a flying fuck who Harry & Meghan invite to THEIR wedding.

I see Ivanka has been angling to get an invite to the wedding but social media has been all over her for her tactless way of wanting to attend the wedding.

    1. It's a very small wedding and an even smaller reception. With guests in the "hundreds" the Royals have plenty of blood relatives that will make the list way before the offspring of some illegitimate toddler dictator.

Since when does Ivanka know Harry or Megan? I think I saw a photo of her standing next to Harry but it's not like they were besties. Looked more like he was doing his duty, being tactful and sucking it up until he could ditch her for more polite company.

Dream on, Ivanka. No royal wedding for you.

I think Harry will win out in the end especially since it is not a state affair. I am sure the Queen will back him up and it seems as though she has "loosened" up a bit inviting Meghan for the Christmas festivities.
If Ivanka is invited, she will get put in the back row,Meghan was a Hillary supporter and can't stand trump.she is also an animal activist and Harry didn't go on the annual pheasant hunt because of her.
So trump will have to suck it up,they can use the security excuse.

Britain's population (majority) despises Trump and don't want his presence in their country as potus of the USA!

Bet that Harry and his fiancé do invite the Obamas to their wedding. And, the wedding and their guests will be enjoyable to watch on TV. Can hardly wait!

Nothing in the article is true, this is Rupert Murdoch's grubby little tabloid and the old bastard has clearly been pulling his pud. The Brits have grounds to arrest Trump for inciting racial hatred, with one suggesting they could reopen the Tower of London especially for him. The people themselves are repeating that they will protest in the millions if Trump sets foot in their country.

The wedding will be held in the family chapel at Windsor Castle, 25 miles from London. No heads of state are invited. The weddings of the queen's youngest son and that of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles were held there.

Trump will be watching it on TV like the rest of us. I hope it's on fucking Fox News.

I hope one day soon I'll wake up to a Murdoch-free world.

  13. Say what???

First of all, it should be a major humiliation for Prince Harry & Meghan Markle to have to consider the feelings of any one except themselves, their families & dearest friends. It's their wedding & Theresa May should butt out. Yes, observe diplomatic protocol. No, do not turn this wedding into one big ego stroke for #DiaperDonnie. This wedding is not an occasion for #DotardDonnie to finally lord it over New York high society who never accepted him & his low-brow Queens family (not because they were from Queens but because they have no class).

Second,Donald Trump, supposedly a grown @$$ man, does not need to have his "feelings" catered to. This is a red flag, a high alert, a sign of mental instability, emotional immaturity & social disacclimation. I mean, my goodness, just because you don't get an invitation to The Wedding of the YEAR, you have to destroy an alliance a couple of centuries in the making?

Third, wealth does NOT automatically endow one with class or intelligent. The Trumps prove that daily. I know a lady who has worked as a cook her entire life (BTW she makes the best apple pie in the world) but she has the best manners, the finest elocution, the most perfectly coordinated outfits, and is the most personable lady on the planet. She doesn't have millions in cash, but she is dearly loved. If she ever ran for political office, she'd win fair & square. She wouldn't need Putin's bots or corrupt GOP secretaries of state or hacked voting machines or voter suppression. She's win the hearts and minds of her fellow citizens.

Last, if this doesn't shame Trump supporters I don't know what will. If someone wrote an article like that about me & published it, the next edition would have an article from me stating I do not want an invitation & if invited would decline to attend.

That "baby on board" sign should be attached to Air Force One.

Theresa May should mind her own business, which is figuring out how to save thr UK from the diaster of brexit, and leave the guest list to the bride and groom.

An invitation isn't going to stop trump from throwing the UK under the bus anyway, so let him pout at home.
Besides there aren't enough etiquette classes in the world to keep the buffoon from making the day all about him.
I also don't think the prince wants a porn model at his wedding either.

    1. Exactly. Trump's tantrums must be dealt with like a parent deals with any spoiled brat. You can't just keep appeasing him with whatever he wants to avoid the next outburst. First, you can't do it as there will always be something that sets him off. Second, that way leads to being subjugated to the whims of a sociopath. Trump has learned that bullying gets him what he wants. As long as he gets the desired result, he doesn't care about anything else. He'll just keep demanding more and more until you are under the thumb of a malignant narcissistic dictator.

The U.N. should be ignoring Haley and Trump as well. Let them take their bat, their ball and their $285 million and go home. No one needs them and no one is going to allow the U.S./Trump to dictate to them what they will or will not do. If you cannot work and play well with others, those others will shun you and go of and play by themselves without you.

This spoiled brat behavior of Trump's is going to get the U.S. ostracized from the world, whether it is a tantrum over not being invited to a wedding or that the U.N. won't accede to his demands.

The only way to handle Trump is to train him like a dog. Make your demands clear. If he obeys, he gets a treat. If he violates the rules, he gets a quick, immediate consequence. (Personally I'd love to see Trump's nose slapped with a rolled up newspaper every time he steps out of line but that's just me. Being shunned by polite society and the world is good enough.)

If Trump thinks a few ball players refusing to come to the White House is an affront, just wait until he decides to hold a state dinner and no one shows up except his regular toadies.

I love that picture of Obama and Prince Harry. Once again, it shows that Obama is a nice, friendly guy who is well-liked by just about everyone - except racists. Harry is marrying a half African-American woman. That in itself is a major break with tradition. Go for it! Let the Orange Shitgibbon pout; it's your day.

Her Majesty has always been famously not racist, but Megan's African heritage isn't really a break with tradition, there are girls like her married into the English aristocracy, just not American ones- but it's no secret that wealthy American women virtually saved the English aristocracy from extinction, it wasn't just a Downton Abbey thing.

Americans are more 'British' than they know.

I said this on the comment thread of Raw Story and I'll say it here:

Fuck Royal Protocol (if it indeed applies in this case).

The Obamas will know how to behave if they are invited to this event; Trumplethinskin will certainly *not*. He will - it is inevitable - make sure that the day is allllll about him, somehow; even if he has to rush up to the altar during the blessed event to proclaim to the celebrants assembled in the cathedral that he had the BIGGLIEST attendance numbers recorded at his inauguration in all of recorded history! He will embarrass the United States, the congregation assembled there, and all witnessing the event. Not to mention, the protests that are sure to occur will be such a disruption and security nightmare, it would be better that he not attend. I'm sure he'd blow a fuse if Obama went and he didn't, though.

Trump Soho Hotel Reopens as the Dominick

The New York City hotel dropped "Trump" from its name.

....But after it opened, business never really took off. The hotel rooms rates dropped, condos struggled to sell, and this past April, the restaurant on its ground floor, Koi, shuttered. (A lawyer for the restaurant said that business had been down "since the election.").

Also down since the election: room bookings from pro sports teams visiting New York City. Last month the Washington Post found that of the 12 NBA teams that had stayed at the hotel since its opening, all but one had stopped patronizing the property...

"President Trump skipped the event, the first time a sitting president hasn't attended in more than two decades."

    OORAH!

(CNN) The latest Kennedy Center Honors should be cause for celebration, marking the event's 40th anniversary, in the year that coincides with John F. Kennedy's 100th birthday.

Yet this annual recognition of the arts -- lauding luminaries from various fields, as they rub elbows with the Washington elite -- comes with a sizable donut hole this year, as President Trump skipped the event, the first time a sitting president hasn't attended in more than two decades.

The president's rationale was that by staying away, he would allow the attendees to celebrate without "political distraction." But his absence from CBS' telecast -- which taped in early December -- is itself something of a distraction, underscoring the toxic nature of the relationship between the current occupant of the White House and the arts community....

The Kennedy Center Honors has consistently been one of the year's classiest specials, and this year is no exception. Still, the fact that Trump chose not to attend is another sign of what a struggle it is -- amid the current polarized cultural and political moment -- to have, and maintain, nice things....
