Rep. Blake Farenthold first sitting Congressman to have been identified as using congressional account to pay off accuser.

Courtesy of Politico:

Rep. Blake Farenthold used taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment claim brought by his former spokesman — the only known sitting member of Congress to have used a little-known congressional account to pay an accuser, sources told POLITICO.

Lauren Greene, the Texas Republican’s former communications director, sued her boss in December 2014 over allegations of gender discrimination, sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

Greene claimed in the lawsuit that another Farenthold aide told her the lawmaker had “sexual fantasies” and “wet dreams” about Greene. She also claimed that Farenthold “regularly drank to excess” and told her in February 2014 that he was “estranged from his wife and had not had sex with her in years.”

When she complained about comments Farenthold and a male staffer made to her, Greene said the congressman improperly fired her. She filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia, but the case was later dropped after both parties reached a private settlement.

No information was ever released on that agreement.

You know if somebody had asked me which sitting politician that I thought was definitely going to be called out during this #MeToo campaign I would not have hesitated for a second in point out Farenthold.

I mean not only is this guy Fifty Shades of Creepy, but he looks like he could not get laid in a whorehouse while wearing a suit made of $100 dollar bills.

Oh, and I also wrote about this case back in 2014.

I would bet this pervert is still abusing women and that more stories will emerge regarding his misbehavior. He also doesn't seem like the type to resign in disgrace but would probably fight it out like Roy Moore. But I want to be careful since Gryphen warned us yesterday that men may get into trouble simply for staring too long.

i have no problem with the lookers. it's the grabbers i hate. look, women dress up, wear makeup, and do their hair to look nice. men are supposed to look. not leer, just look. you can tell us that we are pretty-that our dress is nice. you can't tell us we are sexy and need to have sex with anyone. it's a matter of manners. sounds a little Victorian but things don't change. we are NOT walking c&@#$%%^s and don't treat us that way.

FB.I've seen kids spill out their piggy banks and plan their allowance budget with more care than the Republicans in Congress are planning for the future of the U.S economy.
"Surprise!" is fun to hear when you walk unbeknownst into a party in your honor. "Surprise!" is not going to be a lot of fun to be a part of when this lax bill, if it passes, becomes law. I am truly dumbfounded at what is taking place. There has always been wheeling and dealing in Congress. There are always provisions put in to win votes. But the magnitude of these issues - we're talking the U.S. Economy! and oh, yes, healthcare, and now even elements of environmental policy (drilling in the Wildlife Refuge in Alaska) - combined with the sheer opaqueness of the process, the fact that no one really knows what's in the bill, or how it will play out over time just boggles the mind.
I have seen a lot in my life, but I don't recall ever seeing anything like this. It's a rushed hack job just to give the President and the GOP big donors a "win" when tens of millions of Americans stand to lose in the form of higher taxes. And potentially hundreds of millions more stand to lose in the form of a fractured economy. If you want an example of this "oh yeah economic growth will more than make up for the tax cuts" mantra at work, just google Kansas and see how that economic experiment is turning out.
I have been touring the country of late and meeting so many of you who believe, as I do, that we are better than this. The polls suggest that most Americans are against this tax bill, and I suggest that if it becomes law and all the little surprises start popping out, it will become even less popular. This isn't tax policy. It's a shakedown by the monied interests. Remember when deficits mattered, when that was the reason we couldn't say, fund such things as health care for children and student lunches? Well that all just seems to be another convenient stalking horse put out to pasture in this age of unreason."

Re dental school. I've had work done there for years. All students are checked and double checked on their work by both their student partners and the faculty who ate working dental pros. I paid 30$ for a panoramic radiographs that would have cost me thousands. I've had cleanings, fillings, chip repair, and bleach trays all for pennies on the dollar. All of it has stood the test of time and my being there helped a student graduate. So, don't lump all students together. You may have got a bad deal but from what I've seen it's not the norm. Those kids need real time to graduate and we poor need a deal. Win\ win.

I wonder if this is the GOP Rep. who Jackie Speier had in mind when she said both a Dem. and Repub.in Congress were guilty of harassment. If there are more GOPs, I hope they get outed soon. It's still looking like too much of a Dem problem. I can't bear listening to Fox and others acting as if it's only Dems. Plus, this is hurting in terms of how the idiot GOP voters in Alabama are looking at their race--they're able to say an "everyone does it" and go right back to the plan to vote for Roy Moore. Those voters have little to no conscience, but for a short while there, they were managing to think in terms of not voting for a pedophile.

Of course Bristol had to find a way into the #MeToo campaign. She's equating some ugly things done (but lying about Letterman again--Bristol, Dave was talking about YOU, not your younger sister) in the public sphere to her mother with what has happened to actual behind-closed-doors victims. And she forgets how often her mother joked about people's looks/bodies/sexiness and used inappropriate language in so many situations, all of which suggested to people that they could be bawdy right back.

What the hell is this doing in a Federal Tax Bill?

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-tax-plan-includes-special-break-conservative-college-022742601.html

"Senate Democrats on Friday slammed a provision in the Republicans' sweeping tax bill designed to give a special tax break to a conservative college in Michigan.

Democrats said the tax break was designed to help just one politically-connected school: Hillsdale College in southern Michigan."

"Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., acknowledged he sponsored the language and Hillsdale College would benefit from it."

"Democrats complained that some well-known conservatives have connections to the school, including Trump administration Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

Graduates include Erik Prince, who is DeVos' brother and the founder of the government contractor once known as Blackwater, and former Rep. Chris Chocola of Indiana. Chocola once headed the conservative Club for Growth, an advocacy group that Toomey also once led.

"This unfortunately is the metaphor for this bill and how high the stench is rising in this chamber," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y."
