New York man who shot and killed woman he mistook for a deer charged with manslaughter.

Courtesy of the New York Daily News:

A hunter in western New York who mistook a 43-year-old woman for a deer was charged with manslaughter on Thursday.

Rosemary Billquist was walking her dogs the day before Thanksgiving in the town of Sherman when she was shot once by Thomas Jadlowski.

Jadlowski called 911 and stayed with Billquist until help arrived, but she was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital in Pennsylvania.

The 43-year-old Billquist was shot at about 5:30 p.m. It is illegal to hunt big game after sunset or before dawn in New York state.

"Today, Mr. Jadlowski is being held accountable for his dangerous and reckless conduct when he shot his neighbor in the dark," Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos said.

Jadlowski was charged with hunting after hours and second degree manslaughter.

Of course if this had happened in Texas they probably would have charged the woman's corpse with wandering carelessly into the path of a bullet.

Hopefully justice will be served. I see that taking cheap shots at other states where Alaska is just as guilty is stil your stock in trade.

Not a cheap shot if it's true, which it IS.

Finally! I’m so tired of these trigger-happy incidents being termed “accidents.”

Well they snuck the tax bill through this morning 51 to 49.
It is almost 7:30 EST. Did they have a pajamas party for voting?

I think they sneak things through in the middle of the night to avoid having to respond to the people.

It's not even in its final draft printing. There were handwritten, barely legible, additions to it - none of them helpful to ordinary Americans. Maybe we should all become corporations?

I feel resentment about the sales pitch by Trump telling the public we are going to get a $4K salary increase. I work for a major corporation that has reduced compensation and staff the past three years showing record profits. Compensation in my position was reduced between $240 to $1440 monthly.
Seeing will be believing that there will be any trickle down economics. Salary increases since the major recession have not increased from a max 2% although the economy greatly improved.

When the majority do not get a significant raise, health care costs took a jump and taxes rise, companies do not share their profits maybe
the Trump base will snap into reality.

I do understand my corporation in part increased profits reducing compensation.

Beaglemom, the BS sales pitch that companies go overseas only because of corporate tax rates here is not true. Foreign countries make deals with corporations and salaries are so low compared to average manufacturing wages abroad companies will not move back providing jobs here even with reduced corporate tax rates.

Let us watch to see if the Donald and Ivanka move their manufacturing to the USA LOL

Don't forget the woman in Maine who was hanging her laundry out to dry in her backyard and then killed by a hunter was criticized by the jurors (who acquitted her killer) for having worn white mittens. Just wait, at least one juror will complain that she wasn't wearing day-glow yellow (and she may have been for all I know) when she took her dog(s) for a walk after sunset.
