Missouri Senate candidate has some rather antiquated views of women's rights. And yes he's a Republican.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday, (Courtland)Sykes said that he had been asked if he “supports women’s rights.”

“I want to come home to a home cooked dinner every night at six,” Sykes said, referring to demands he makes of his girlfriend. “One that she fixes and one that I expect one day to have daughters learn to fix after they become traditional homemakers and family wives.”

According to Sykes, feminists push an agenda that they “made up to suit their own nasty snake-filled heads.”

The candidate said that he hoped his daughters do not grow up to be “career obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the top of a thousand tall buildings they are [SIC] think they could have leaped in a single bound — had men not been ‘suppressing them.’ It’s just nuts.”

Sykes ended his rant by insisting that he supports women’s rights “but not the kind that has suppressed natural womanhood for five long decades.”

“But good news,” he concluded. “They’re finished. Ask Hillary.”

And this guy is go up against Claire McCaskill?

She will clean his clock, and then teach him to make his own damn dinner.

Antiquated? Hell no. This guy is positively Neanderthal. He predates the misogyny of the old testament with it's basic attitude of women being slaves to their husbands with no rights at all.

He's trash and, in my opinion, any woman who accepts things like this has been brainwashed to accept this kind of shit.

I'm old enough to remember when these commercials aired on television. The guy at the end with his finger pointed? It would be the last time he had use of it.

And if she doesn't give him daughters to serve him, he will divorce her and move on to another more compliant woman?

Sorry, I think this is all an act. I believe this man is a deeply closeted, self loathing gay man who has convinced himself that he his behaving like a regular straight guy and who is desperate to portray himself as exactly what conservatives want. He is as cartoonish and silly as Mike Pence.

"Rion’s father is Dann O. Ryan. Along with her father and brother Baron, a highly decorated Boy Scout, Rion wrote a book, Lamonga: River of the Seven Spirits. A blurb for the book describes Dann O. Ryan as being “born in the American West and became as a small boy, a keeper and finder of relics and a minder of the lore of Indians and of the West that lived on in the heart of a past that could seem to a boy, glorious and near, and of spirits not far away.As a boy he trapped and hunted And spent winters in a tipi pitched by a creek. On the walls of his lodge nearby, he kept in frames of timber, nature and relics of time, and books of the West gone by.”

Her brother is a "highly decorated boy scout". Are we sure that this guy and his girlfriend aren't pulling people's legs? Or could they possibly be real, just two more narcissists that met in the night? Very hard to tell.

Do you ever wonder if actual trolls decided to see if they could get a job trolling?

These views are classic troll tropes, but in the current climate, such views might get you elected and therefore land a job.

I really find it hard to believe that anyone could type "nasty snake-filled heads" in earnest.

As a resident of St Louis, MO, I hate this guy just as much as everyone else here, but I'm not so sure he won't be successfully elected.

When Todd Akin uttered his infamous "legitimate rape" comments, many were rightfully offended and Claire won reelection. However, in late October, I was at a fall fair in the outlying country area and witnessed seemingly every white-haired old man wearing a Todd Akin for Senate t-shirt (long after those comments came out).

Claire won reelection then, but the outlying areas have grown in population and the neanderthals like this guy have found increasing support. Only the populations in St Louis and Kansas City have kept these idiots out of office and our power is decreasing.

Yes....I am definitely embarrassed to be a resident of the state of Missouri.

"“But I think this is hypocrisy at its finest because, these Democratic men and women who are inviting these victims? It should be the ‘I knew movement and didn’t do anything to help.’ They remained silent. There is a sex hush-fund of taxpayer dollars that have been spent covering up conduct in Congress and the people have a right to know.”
"“This is about survivors and actually any woman that is a survivor of sexual violence would be opposed to the president who is a self described sexual predator,” Burke lectured. “He said out of his own mouth how he treats women and how he preys upon women. He has several women who have come forward to bring allegations against him, so I don’t see this as a political stunt because it is Democrats and Republicans who have known. The people who use that fund come from both sides of the aisle.”
"“But I haven’t heard you say a word about the accusations against your president — almost 20 of them now. He is self-described as a sexual predator. So if the Democrats have to come clean, your president has to come clean.”"

    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01/the-clinton-reckoning-is-one-of-the-most-essential-metoo-revelations-yet.html

'These revelations are particularly damning because Clinton, who has been a conspicuous advocate for women’s rights for decades, reportedly ignored her campaign manager’s advice to fire Strider. Clinton not only knew about Strider’s alleged harassment—she took extra steps, against staff recommendations, to keep him on the team. On the continuum from bystander to accomplice, Clinton sits uncomfortably close to the latter end.'

"There is value in this opportunity to evaluate the distance between Clinton’s words and actions."A culture-wide, generations-long epidemic of workplace sexual harassment and assault doesn’t persist without a broad network of complicity, composed of individuals with varying degrees of knowledge and culpability. For any movement against sexual misconduct to succeed, and for observers to fully grasp the machinations of abuse, that network must be scrutinized as thoroughly as the abusers themselves."
"The shame of this public showing of ethical dissonance should be enough to scare them into transforming their own workplaces, too."

In 2008, Clinton's response was better than most people's and institutions' responses in that time. She suspended him, sent him to counseling and rehired him when he completed it. When he did it again, she fired him. Was she supposed to kill him?
10 years ago, it was still nearly impossible to expect anything about sexual harassment aside from a warning.

      1. People are condemning Hillary for her response to something 10 years ago using today's standards.
      2. Hillary is not the President nor is she an elected official and she probably will never be one again.

How about let's concentrate on the traitors at hand instead of bringing up Hillary over and over again.

Olivia, none of us are so blind that we don't see that politics is a very underhanded, shady business. Are Hillary's hands clean? I highly doubt it, but there is nothing more scary to insecure men than a strong woman. See Courtland Sykes.
