Speaking at CPAC NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch suggests that the media sees mass shootings as "ratings gold."

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Speaking at the 2018 Conservative Political Action Conference, Loesch noted that she had participated in a CNN town hall after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead.

“Many in the legacy media love mass shootings,” she charged. “White crying mothers are ratings gold.”

“I call B.S.,” Loesch added, mocking a line from Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonazlez. “I represent 5 million plus members [of the NRA], average everyday Americans, moms and dads. They do the school run, go to the grocery story, they’re students, they’re hunters. They are people like me who simply don’t want to be assaulted in the parking lot if we go to the grocery store to buy a gallon of milk at night!”

Before finishing her remarks, Loesch revealed that she needed armed guards to safely exit the CNN town hall.

“You heard that town hall last night, they cheered the confiscation of fire arms,” she explained. “And it was over 5,000 people. I have to have a security detail to get out. I wouldn’t have been able to exit that if I did not have a private security detail. There were people rushing the stage and screaming ‘burn her.'”

Speaking of B.S. I call that on Loesch's claim that the stage was rushed and she needed security to exit the event safely.

I assume that she is referring to this.
I don't see anybody rushing of the stage, or calls to "burn her," but I do see angry people, some who lost loved ones to gun violence, yelling "shame on you" to her as she is leaving.

Is that what made her feel unsafe, and that she needed armed security to protect her?

You know I used to think I would never come across a woman as despicable as Sarah Palin.

I was wrong.

    3. And not all of those 5 million support the NRA's position on the second amendment and their crazy-ass notions of arming teachers and such.

The NRA doesn't live on it's dues. If that's all they had to lobby the GOP we wouldn't be where we are right now. They rely on subsidies from the guns and ammo manufacturers that they shill for and donations from big deep pockets like the Kochs and such. They use that money to push their political agenda.

I am so hoping the FBI and Mueller find enough dirt on the NRA to prove they laundered money from Russia to illegally influence the election and they are SHUT DOWN.

First National Bank Of Omaha To Dump NRA-Branded Visa Credit Card

The card offers 5 percent back on gas and sporting goods purchases.

Citing complaints from customers, the company’s First Bankcard division will no longer issue NRA-branded Visa credit cards touted by the gun-rights group as a special benefit of membership after the current contract between the two parties expires.

“Customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA. As a result, First National Bank of Omaha will not renew its contract with the National Rifle Association to issue the NRA Visa Card,” a First National Bank spokesman told HuffPost by email Thursday.

The world’s largest asset manager put U.S. gunmakers on notice on Thursday that it is no longer business as usual in the wake of a shooting that killed 17 at a Florida high school.

BlackRock Inc said it will speak with weapons manufacturers and distributors “to understand their response” to the second-deadliest shooting at a public school in U.S. history, putting pressure on companies such as Sturm Ruger & Company Inc and American Outdoor Brands Corp.

BlackRock is the largest shareholder in both gunmakers and has more than $6 trillion in assets under management. It stopped short of saying it would divest its funds of gun companies, however.

    1. And so it continues. The NRA already lost their VISA card. They still have the prepaid NRA Visa for now but that company is re-evaluating their position too.

When the NRA is financially toxic, companies will drop them. When enough of them do, the NRA becomes toothless.

Columnist takes down NRA’s Wayne LaPierre and Dana Loesch for CPAC speech: ‘Why not say that facing those students?’

...“Now, I’m not saying that you love the tragedy, but I am saying that you love the ratings,” she told the CPAC audience, to cheers. “Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back.”

    Friedman was appall.

“It’s disgusting,” he told Blitzer. “Just disgusting.”

“It’s hard to believe she can say something like that, whether you’re on the left or the right, to say, to suggest that the legacy media loves mass shootings, crying white mothers, because of ratings,” Blitzer said.

“What a courageous woman,” Friedman said sarcastically. “Why not say that last night when you were facing those students? You go before a hyper-conservative convention and say that? Wayne, what a tough guy, what a tough guy, to be able to give that message to super conservatives, not stare those parents in the face, what a — it’s just disgusting, Wolf.”

Blitzer agreed going on to say it was amazing she would smear journalists covering the story and giving a voice to those harmed by the tragedy.

“What it shows you, Wolf, they’re out of arguments,” Friedman continued. “And all they can do is deflect on the honest situation, which was the vast majority of Americans do not want to eliminate the Second Amendment. They don’t want to take away guns from people that want to hunt, use them for marksmanship, or protect themselves. They want to make sure that people who do that have — that it is controlled in a way that people use them in these kinds of mass shootings or reduce the option for that, and as I said, countries that do that, the example of Japan, have massive reduction in gun violence.”

Blitzer went on to ask Friedman if the NRA has too much of a stranglehold on Washington. “One party has completely sold their soul to them. That’s what the Republican Party has done.”

WATCH: Meghan McCain rolls her eyes when Ana Navarro points out ‘parents lost their children’

...Noting that she was the “only NRA member at the table,” McCain complained that NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch was treated badly during a CNN town hall on Wednesday about the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

“There are 7,000 people there in a community that is raw from a crime that just cost 17 innocent lives,” Navarro said. “They are there and they are venting their emotions. That place was full of students, it was full of parents who’ve lost their children.”

At the mention of grieving parents, ABC cameras caught McCain appearing to roll her eyes.

“You can’t ask them to be restrained,” Navarro continued, “and to hold back their emotions. It’s just too damn raw.”

“I know they are raw,” McCain said angrily. “I also know that Dana Loesch is a friend of mine and I felt like — if we are going to have a respectful conversation between Second Amendment rights supporters and people who are on the complete opposite of it who can’t be yelling that you’re a murderer.”

McCain later denied that she was rolling her eyes.

What I Saw Treating the Victims From Parkland Should Change the Debate on Guns

They weren’t the first victims of a mass shooting the Florida radiologist had seen—but their wounds were radically different.

...With an AR-15, the shooter does not have to be particularly accurate. The victim does not have to be unlucky. If a victim takes a direct hit to the liver from an AR-15, the damage is far graver than that of a simple handgun shot injury. Handgun injuries to the liver are generally survivable unless the bullet hits the main blood supply to the liver. An AR-15 bullet wound to the middle of the liver would cause so much bleeding that the patient would likely never make it to a trauma center to receive our care.

One of my ER colleagues was waiting nervously for his own children outside the school. While the shooting was still in progress, the first responders were gathering up victims whenever they could and carrying them outside the building. Even as a physician trained in trauma situations, though, there was nothing he could do at the scene to help to save the victims who had been shot with an AR-15. Most of them died on the spot, with no fighting chance at life.

It is a weapon designed to kill. Period. It is for unskilled soldiers to kill the enemy. You don't need to be a great shot. It does the maximum amount of damage so there is less likelihood they will fire back or even survive.

      It's for killing people.

In what way is that an acceptable weapon for the general public to own?

Sorry, but I do not believe our founding Fathers intended for the public to own military weapons and stock pile armaments.

But we all know how the NRA twisted and perverted the 2nd amendment.

    WTF?

Threats Against Schools Increase Since Florida Shooting

Since last week's school shooting in Parkland, Fla., the number of threats of violence against schools across the country has increased.

Educators School Safety Network says it recorded about 50 threats a day on average since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were killed.

The Ohio-based national organization that tracks school threats says that compares to about 10 threats a day on average.

Violent incidents or threats have occurred in 48 of the 50 states so far this school year, according to the network, with 10 states accounting for 48 percent of all the threats and incidents that have occurred so far.

...Marino Chavez said he heard a 17-year-old male student say he was "going to shoot up the school sometime in the next three weeks."

The student claimed it was a joke, but a search of his home turned up two AR-15 rifles, 90 high-capacity magazines and two handguns, as The Associated Press reports:

..."On Monday, a 27-year-old Norco man was arrested after he posted on Facebook that he intended to shoot people at a local community college. Police searched Jacob Ryan McBain's home [turning] up two loaded AR-15 rifles, two loaded handguns and a large amount of ammunition in his bedroom, authorities said.

Inglewood police on Monday became aware of a social media post 'indicating that students attending a specific Inglewood school were at risk of being targeted by a shooter,' according to a news release.

And on Wednesday morning, Long Beach Unified School District Supt. Chris Steinhauser alerted parents of an unconfirmed threat that an attack was being planned at Long Beach Polytechnic High School."

...In St. Mary's County, Md., two teenage boys are facing charges for allegedly making threats of mass violence. Dozens of weapons, including semiautomatic rifles, handguns and ammunition, were recovered from the home of one of the suspects.

And there were more incidents across the country, according to the AP:

"An Oregon high school student was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of disorderly conduct after police say he sent a social media message to a girl at another high school reading, "I am the shooter!" The 15-year-old boy said the message was a joke.

"A Montana high school student was charged Tuesday with intimidation and assault with a weapon over numerous threats to "shoot up the school ." Court records say the 18-year-old told investigators he was joking and regretted frightening students.

"A Vermont teenager pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted aggravated murder and other offenses after writing in a diary that he had "big plans" to kill as many as he could at his former high school.

"In Northern California, police said they recovered a firearm from the home of an 11-year-old boy who had barricaded himself in a Santa Cruz classroom Tuesday and planned to harm specific students."

Wayne LaPierre didn't succeed in wooing the entire nation, so why not put out some youngish, good-looking, long-haired women to lure the country in to their evil intentions. These women who are now the face of the NRA should be ashamed of themselves.
