White House Counsel Donald McGahn knew one year ago that staff secretary Rob Porter’s ex-wives were prepared to make damaging accusations about him but allowed him to serve as an influential gatekeeper and aide to President Trump without investigating the accusations, according to people familiar with the matter.
Chief of Staff John F. Kelly learned this fall about the allegations of spousal abuse and that they were delaying Porter’s security clearance amid an ongoing FBI investigation. But Kelly handed Porter more responsibilities to control the flow of information to the president.
Porter, who denied the “vile” allegations, resigned Wednesday after the ex-wives’ accounts of years of verbal and physical abuse were published, along with graphic pictures of Colbie Holderness, his first wife, bruised from what she said was a punch to the face.
The episode has thrust Trump’s senior-most aides, many of whom have already been embroiled in controversy related to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation, into yet another crisis.
McGahn and other West Wing officials are under increasing pressure to explain why Porter was kept in a key role in which he had access to classified information and helped determine which articles and policy proposals made it to the president’s desk while top Trump officials were aware for months of at least some of the serious allegations against him.
Not only is it upsetting to learn that the Trump White House did not seem to have a problem with a serial abuser, during yesterday's White House press conference we learned that if one of Porter's victims had not provided photographic evidence that he would likely still have a job.
Get a load of this.
As you can see around the 3:25 mark a reporter asks White House spokesman Raj Shah what changed about their understanding of the charges besides the photographic evidence, and while Shah attempts to skirt that question, his response makes it clear that the photos are what really doomed Porter.
Which essentially means that this White House does not believe women when they make accusations of physical abuse or sexual assault, unless they provide pictures.
So by those standards when it comes to the many Trump accusers the official defense would be "pictures, or it didn't happen."
I suppose since Trump is a wife beater why would his admin not hire another wife beater.
ReplyDeleteLook at all of those around him. They are each a reflection of some awful aspect of Trump. Put them all together and you have Cadet Bone Spurs.
DeleteSurrounding himself with wife beaters, rapists, thieves, liars, and other cruel scum just supports and normalizes his own behavior. Makes him feel good. He is the Mr. Feel Good president, not for making us feel good but that his entire operating premise is on what makes HIM feel good.
It appears those are the only type of people he knows and has all of his life. What a degenerate and horrid representative of America!
DeleteEverybody knew, except DT. Of course, he knows nothing except how great Hope's boyfriend is. DT doesn't even know there were any women involved. It is only about a great man that was accused and he says he is innocent. Take him at his word, forget anyone else.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget, the jerk raped his first wife! God do we have a monster in the wh!!!
ReplyDeleteImpeaching him is all I want to see!

Deleteditto.
DeleteWhy isn't Scarah Walleye Hucksterbee up there? She leaves the dirty work to her flunky? She doesn't want to have to walk back previous assurances or correct her lying, shithole statements when they've been proven wrong beyond all doubt?
ReplyDeleteWhere is the lying bitch and why isn't she doing her job?
lol.
DeleteFuck- bee- sting!
Delete11:42AM That is exactly what I thought. Lying Huckabee sent someone else out to talk the media. What a chicken shit. She is such a vile hack.
DeleteTruthfully, I've enjoyed not seeing her fat, lying face! The guy does a much better job!
ReplyDeleteUnless Hope Hicks has flipped on Trump, she can get beaten all day long for all I care,
ReplyDeleteThe real problem here is not that he is an abuser, although that is sufficient reason to fire him. The real problem is that the FBI would not give him a final very high security clearance. Without that clearance, only the President can clear him to see classified information (as he has done for Jared). Trump has said that he did not know that Porter did not have a clearance.
ReplyDeleteSo, who allowed him total access to everything the president sees? Both McGahn and Porter knew! They do not have the authority to allow Porter to see classified material. Yet it certainly appears that they did allow him.
Laws have been broken...or the president is lying? Either way, we need the truth.
That's exactly the problem. Why were people determined to have Porter in his position despite what they must have known about his history? What's so special about him that they wanted him whether or not he could get clearance? Or were they just acting like the pigs they are and not even seeing an issue with the FBI findings? Plus, how did they get away with allowing him to have daily handling of things you require clearance for?
DeleteTrump's continuing motto: Out with the old scapegoats, in with the new! This time he is going to have trouble finding replacements. Hicks and Kelly must see the writing on the wall. Will they resign, or will T fire them?
ReplyDeleteThey will stay with Trump. He needs them.
DeleteHe has to feign he is mad at them because he does not want to look as if he knew about Porter before. Trump super liked Porter and he is going to miss him. Hopey is going to miss Porter like a teen in love. Hopey is hurting and Trump cares about her. She is like a daughter and we know how close he is to Ivanka. Ivanka does not want Hopey to leave.
only women bleed-Alice Cooper. only men lie-all abused women.

'"Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" is the opening song on the double album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John. The first part, "Funeral for a Friend", is an instrumental created by John while thinking of what kind of music he would like at his funeral.[1] This first half segues into
"Love Lies Bleeding."'
Hope Hicks was the person writing all the white house statements defending him, just wait until she turns up for work with a black eye!
ReplyDeleteMikey Pence said on NBC that domestic abuse is disgusting and there is zero tolerance at the white house.

ReplyDeleteDavid Sorenson, Trump's speech writer team, has resigned over domestic abuse allegations.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a possibility the WH men that beat and abuse women will be leaving until this storm passes.
Folks, in the midst of the revelations about Rob Porter and domestic abuse, there’s one crucial lesson that should not be lost: if anyone ever lays a hand on you, take a picture. Document it. Save the photo.
ReplyDeleteThat’s what made the difference.
That’s what made it undeniable.
