Did you get my letter? |
Donald Trump was so eager to have Vladimir Putin attend the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow that he wrote a personal letter to the Russian president inviting him to the event, according to multiple people familiar with the document.
At the bottom of the typed letter, Trump scrawled a postscript adding that he looked forward to seeing “beautiful” women during his trip.
Trump’s letter to Putin, which was described by people with knowledge of its contents, shows how interested he was in attracting the personal attention of the Russian president. The real estate magnate, who owned the Miss Universe pageant, wrote the note at a time when he was looking to expand his brand to Russia.
The letter, the first known attempt at direct outreach by Trump to Putin, has been turned over to investigators probing Russia’s interference in the 2016 campaign. It is unclear whether Trump’s missive was ever delivered to the Russian president — and if so, whether Putin responded.
John Dowd, an attorney for President Trump, said he was not familiar with the letter. “It’s all nonsense,” he said. A White House spokesman and attorneys for the Trump Organization declined to comment.
I think "It's all nonsense" is lawyer speak for "WTF? I had no idea this even existed."
And by the way there is no way that Trump did not have this letter delivered to Putin.
After all Trump was going all fan girl over Putin in those days.
Now I just want to know if Trump got an answer back from his idol, or if Putin dismissed him as yet another one of his groupies?
By the way if Mueller was able to get his hands on this letter, than I am more and more convinced that he also has all of Trump's tax returns as well.
And it makes the request by Trump's lawyers to wrap this investigation up seem more than a little silly.

ReplyDelete""This investigation is focused on making sure that we keep people safe and also that we collect all the evidence so that when it comes to attribution [of the attack] we will be absolutely clear where it should be.
"The police have said that if anybody thinks they have any additional information they would welcome them coming forward.
"There is also substantial amounts of CCTV they have to go through. This is a painstaking, detailed investigation and the police need to be given the space and time to get on with it.""I want to stress that they are proceeding with speed and professionalism,""
If the letter was delivered to Putin, then how did Mueller end up with it?
ReplyDeleteThey theorized about this last night:
DeleteTrump doesn't do email, so someone else typed up the letter, he signed it, and then it was scanned and emailed off.
This would suggest that someone in his office handed over an original or a copy.

"President Donald Trump summoned a former impeachment defense attorney for an Oval Office meeting last week, The New York Times reported Saturday.
ReplyDeleteEmmet Flood represented President Bill Clinton during the impeachment process and discussed a day-to-day role helping Trump navigate his investigations.
Flood also represented Vice President Dick Cheney in the civil lawsuit brought by former CIA agent Valerie Plame and spent two years in the White House Counsel’s office during the George W. Bush administration.
The Times explained that Flood would not replace Ty Cobb, but that Cobb’s primary role was document production, a task that is nearly complete. Cobb has told friends his temporary position will not remain much longer.
Flood also served on the defense team for former Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA).
After graduating from Yale Law School, Flood worked as a clerk for Associate Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia."
I first read it as "Elmer Fudd", sounds more like someone trump would hire. Hope he got a big retainer and cashed the check before doing any work :)

Putin and the oligarchs have become rich because of corrupt political connections and mafia tactics. Of course Trump holds Putin in high regards because Trump is using the same blueprint to enrich himself and his family.
ReplyDeleteI hope Putin eventually cuts Trump lose. It would be great to see Trump as collateral damage - and in prison.
Don't forget Putin took over state owned companies and privatized them for himself and his buddies, stole Billions and Billions from the russian people
