NBC has decided not to continue A.D. The Bible Continues.
The series opened to high expectations but was not an out-of-the-box ratings hit like History Channel's record-setting The Bible. From producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the Universal Television drama is a rare miss for the mega-producers, and came in a season in which religious-themed fare, including CBS' Dovemakers mini, failed to lure live viewers.
Let's face it, the viewing public is just not that into Jesus anymore.
Besides there is some rather impressive competition.
For instance there have been two recent Hercules movies, one starring The Rock, and he's a half god as well.
And then of course there is Thor who is not only a full on god, but also a member of the Avengers whose second movie broke all kinds of box office records.
I mean let's face it if, for your modernized versions of ancient mythologies, you had to choose between this..
...and this. Which would you choose?
After all we are now living in the 21st century, so if we are going to be confronted by primitive religious beliefs they should at least have a "wow factor."
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Iceland to build new temple in order to worship Norse gods for the first time in 1,000 years.
Courtesy of of The Globe and Mail:
Icelanders will soon be able to publicly worship at a shrine to Thor, Odin and Frigg with construction starting this month on the island’s first major temple to the Norse gods since the Viking age.
Worship of the gods in Scandinavia gave way to Christianity around 1,000 years ago but a modern version of Norse paganism has been gaining popularity in Iceland.
“I don’t believe anyone believes in a one-eyed man who is riding about on a horse with eight feet,” said Hilmar Orn Hilmarsson, high priest of Asatruarfelagid, an association that promotes faith in the Norse gods.
“We see the stories as poetic metaphors and a manifestation of the forces of nature and human psychology.”
Membership in Asatruarfelagid has tripled in Iceland in the last decade to 2,400 members last year, out of a total population of 330,000, data from Statistics Iceland showed.
So a temple that worships gods that the faithful know full well were created by man, simply so they can enjoy their cultural heritage and the fables of their forefathers.
Best reason to build a temple ever!
And SO much easier to accept than the Judeo Christian god with all of his rules and threats of eternal damnation.
If Thor gets mad at you he simply strikes you with lightning and that's it. Seems much more reasonable.

Already dreading that whole "War on Christmas" debate again this year? Here let me help.
This was found on Facebook, and in my opinion is simply brilliant.
(If the image does not enlarge when clicking it try this link.)
Now before everybody starts getting pissy with me and accusing me of attacking Christmas, let me just say that is untrue. In fact I LOVE Christmas, and unlike some people, am perfectly happy saying "Merry Christmas" as opposed to "Happy Holidays."
Of course part of the reason for that is because I know the real Christmas story. (If you are somebody who does not enjoy learning that your preconceived notions about this holiday are all hooey, I beg you NOT to click this link. You clicked it didn't you?)
In fact this so-called "War on Christmas" is NOT the creation of liberals or atheists at all, and in fact was initially waged by those Christian hating Puritans! Wait, what?
