Donald Trump now seems to oppose going after Hillary Clinton on the e-mails. Flip meet flop.

Courtesy of CNN:

During the presidential campaign, President-elect Donald Trump pledged to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton, would join crowds of his supporters in chants of "lock her up!" and said to her face during a debate that if he were president, "you'd be in jail." But now that he actually will be president, Trump says he won't recommend prosecution of Clinton, who he told New York Times reporters has "suffered greatly." What's more, he said the idea of prosecuting Clinton is "just not something I feel very strongly about."

You may remember that at one point in the debates Trump suggested that if he were president he would appoint a special prosecutor to go after Hillary and put her in prison.

Which of all the stupid things he said was perhaps one of the stupidest, since a president does not determine who the Justice Department investigates, and attempting to imprison a political rival is something they only do in third world countries.

And of course Russia.

As you might imagine this change of heart did not go over well with those who supported Trump during the campaign:

“Broken Promise,” blared Breitbart, the conservative website that promoted Mr. Trump’s candidacy and gave him the mastermind of his campaign, Stephen K. Bannon. The conservative provocateur Ann Coulter was no more subtle.

Judicial Watch, the conservative legal organization that has doggedly pursued Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, also chimed in:

“Donald Trump must commit his administration to a serious, independent investigation of the very serious Clinton national security, email, and pay-to-play scandals. If Mr. Trump’s appointees continue the Obama administration’s politicized spiking of a criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton, it would be a betrayal of his promise to the American people to “drain the swamp” of out-of-control corruption in Washington.”

I think these people better start getting used to being disappointed, because I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of Donald Trump letting them down.

Which I guess would put them in the same camp as the rest of us who are totally disappointed by this election.

Joe Scarborough gives Donald Trump a brutal nickname. And it's sticking.

So after that segment Twitter ran with it.

And yes there are many, many other quite imaginative tweets which can be found at #AmnestyDon.

I hate to give Scarborough too much credit, because you know I just don't like him, but giving Trump a nickname like this is pretty brilliant.

Especially since you know he will have to respond.

Senator Lisa Murkowski goes back on her word again, which as an Alaskan does not surprise me in the least.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

As the White House heralds the growing number of Republicans agreeing to meet with Judge Garland, Senators Jerry Moran of Kansas and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have reversed themselves and say they now back the decision made by Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, not to hold hearings.

This what Lisa said back in February:

In February, before Mr. Obama named Judge Garland as his pick, Ms. Murkowski told reporters in Alaska that the nominee should be granted a hearing. Though she emphasized, in a Facebook post the next day, that she opposed Mr. Obama’s making the nomination, Ms. Murkowski had declined to directly address her stance on holding hearings since her comments in February.

Here is the statement released by Murkowski's spokesperson:

Karina Petersen, said the Alaska senator also no longer supported holding hearings, though she will meet with Judge Garland to discuss cases that are important to her state.

“Senator Murkowski respects the decision of the chair and members of the Judiciary Committee not to hold hearings on the nominee,” Ms. Petersen wrote in an email.

Nothing surprising, since often Murkowski does not know what she thinks until the Republican leadership gets around to telling her.

However I still contend that Murkowski is virtually bullet proof up here, and much like Don Young cannot lose her next election without some kind of divine intervention.

Which as you all know I am not exactly going to hold my breath waiting to occur.

Senator Lisa Murkowski comes out against Obama naming a replacement for Antonin Scalia, after earlier saying that he should.

Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski pulled back from an earlier position that the Senate should give a hearing to a nominee to replace the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, saying Thursday that President Obama shouldn’t even nominate a replacement.

The day before, Murkowski told reporters at a news conference that the Senate should hold a hearing on a nominee — a position setting her apart from Mitch McConnell, the leader of Murkowski’s Republican Senate majority, who said Scalia’s vacancy should not be filled.

Then, on Thursday afternoon, Murkowski issued a carefully crafted statement from her official Facebook account saying that there shouldn't be a nominee.

“Given the timing of this vacancy, in the middle of our presidential election, the American people will clearly be weighing in on the direction of the Supreme Court,” the statement said. “I urge the president to follow a tradition embraced by both parties over the past 80 years and allow his successor in the White House to select the next Supreme Court justice. If he ignores this precedent, I believe that extraordinary circumstances give the Senate every right to deny the nominee an up or down vote.”

There she is folks, our spineless, wishy washy, Senator Lisa Murkowski.

And the thing is that compared to the virtually invisible Koch brother owned Senator Dan Sullivan, and the idiotic Congressman Don Young, she is actually the best we have to offer.

Aren't you jealous!

Most effective anti-Trump ad I have seen so far.

But you know the thing is that even this would probably not do much to stop him.

For reasons that still confuse the hell out of me, it seems that Donald Trump is somehow immune, not only from attack, but even from his own politically poisonous past.

Remember this is the guy who bragged yesterday that he could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and not lose votes.

Hillary Clinton comes out against TPP. Things that make you go "Hmmm."

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Hillary Clinton came out against the Trans-Pacific Partnership Wednesday, breaking with President Barack Obama on the 12-nation trade deal that is set to become a key part of his legacy.

"As of today, I am not in favor of what I have learned about it," Clinton told Judy Woodruff of "PBS Newshour."

"I have said from the very beginning that we had to have a trade agreement that would create good American jobs, raise wages and advance our national security. And I still believe that's the high bar we have to meet," she said. "I have been trying to learn as much as I can about the agreement. But I'm worried. I'm worried about currency manipulation not being part of the agreement. We've lost American jobs to the manipulations that countries, particularly in Asia, have engaged in. I'm worried the pharmaceutical companies may have gotten more benefits -- and patients and consumers fewer. I think there are still a lot of unanswered questions."

Progressives have been pushing Clinton for months to take a position on TPP, since Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), two of her rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, came out against it long ago.

If you have been paying attention to the news you probably know that this position is being interpreted by almost everyone as political opportunism, and as a way to woo some of Bernie Sanders supporters.

Especially since Clinton once praised the deal as "the gold standard in trade agreements,"  and spoke out in favor of it at least 45 times in the past.

I don't know enough about trade deals to have a real firm point of view about this one, however I do understand politics, and this makes me more than a little uneasy concerning Hillary and her campaign moving forward.

Most frightening horror movie EVER!

Especially because it's true!

However I really think this is the last incarnation for Pennywise and that after this election the evil clown with the nasty smirk will be out of our lives forever.

Until the Republicans come up with a sequel that is.

BOO!
