In the least surprising news of the day Donald Trump has not even started that promised investigation into the Russian hacking.

Courtesy of Politico:

President-elect Donald Trump was very clear: “I will appoint a team to give me a plan within 90 days of taking office,” he said in January, after getting a U.S. intelligence assessment of Russian interference in last year’s elections and promising to address cybersecurity.

Thursday, Trump hits his 90-day mark. There is no team, there is no plan, and there is no clear answer from the White House on who would even be working on what.

Seriously did ANYBODY think that Trump was serious with these tweets?
I mean come on, why would Trump initiate an investigation that would ultimately prove that his presidency was illegitimate?

Besides the FBI and Senate Intelligence Committee are already working to do that very thing.

Remember this?

I think you already know the punchline to this joke.

Courtesy of CNN:

President Donald Trump headed to one of his golf courses again Sunday, marking his 13th visit to one since taking office and the eighth consecutive weekend he has spent at properties bearing his name.

While the President hasn't played golf on every visit, sometimes attending to presidential business, the trips underscore a break with his insistence on the campaign trail that he wouldn't spend his time golfing because of how hard he would be working.

Yep the guy who said he would be too busy to do any more golfing, has spent more time at golf resorts than any other president before him.

Personally I have to say that I prefer Trump out golfing instead of sitting in the Oval Office sabotaging the country.

Next up on President Obama's presidential bucket list, the closure of Guantanamo Bay.

I told you I got this.
Courtesy of the BBC:

Josh Earnest said the closure of the Cuban detention camp was a national security interest.

Mr Earnest said the administration was "in the final stages of drafting a plan to safely and responsibly (close) the prison at Guantanamo Bay and to present that to Congress".

He added: "That has been something that our national security officials have been working on for quite some time, primarily because it is a priority of the president."

So if this is correct it would mean that the promise that Obama made at the very beginning of his presidency, and the one that the Republicans have blocked at ever opportunity, will finally come to fruition.

This will of course be great news going forward as Gitmo is often used by terrorists as proof of America's hypocrisy and confirmation of their evil.

Besides it costs the country 2.7 million dollars per year to house prisoners in Guantanamo, so you would think that so-called fiscal conservative Republicans would be totally behind this closure.

House votes against closing Gitmo again!

Courtesy of The Daily Banter:

The House of Representatives has voted to block the administration from transferring detainees by a margin of 236 to 188 by passing an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2014 (NDAA). You can read the amendment here.

None of the amounts authorized to be available to the Department of Defense may be used to transfer, release, or assist in the transfer or release, during the period beginning on the date of enactment of this Act and ending on December 31, 2014, any individual detained at Guantanamo (as such term is defined in section 1033(f)(2)) to the custody or control of the Republic of Yemen or any entity within Yemen.

As many as 56 detainees have been cleared by the Department of Defense to be released to Yemen, but the House of Representatives simply will not allow it. In total, as many as 86 out of 166 detainees have been cleared for transfer.

In addition to barring the administration from transferring detainees from Guantanamo Bay to Yemen, the latest version of the NDAA also includes language that was included in previous versions that bar the administration from transferring detainees to American soil.

One of my pet peeves, on a long line of pet peeves, is that Obama did not keep his promise to close Guantanamo Bay. ESPECIALLY when it is brought up by conservatives as an example of how Obama does not do what he says he will do, or that he lacks integrity.

Of course as most of us who have been paying attention realize that he signed an executive order during his first week, but was blocked by the Republicans. (And as Thom Hartmann explains it was by using essentially the same tactics that they are using today.)

No President Obama wants the prison closed, and has wanted it closed his entire presidency. The question we should be asking is why is it so important for the Republicans to keep it open?

Final emotional reminder of the day.

From the YouTube site:

This was made entirely by Newtown Students, Danny Bittman and Sarah Clements. This video is a dedication to all of our 26 neighbors, demanding that we change our attitude towards others. The Sandy Hook Promise group, like the video's message, is open minded, and is not trying to attack, or support just one side of any argument.

Out of the mouths of babes.

Native Americans rally around President Obama.

Courtesy of  the LA Times:

At a July fundraiser in the elegant Mandarin Oriental hotel near Washington's Tidal Basin, President Obama met with some of his most steadfast supporters — two dozen political and business leaders eager to write sizable checks to help keep him in the White House.

All were leaders of Native American tribes, who pressed their issues with a president they say is attuned to their needs.

Bill John Baker, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, told Obama his Oklahoma tribe was owed $50 million for its costs of administering federal health services.

"He said, 'Let me look into this and see what we can do,'" Baker recalled. A week later, he received a letter from the White House pledging to follow up. A White House spokesman said the administration had been reaching out to many tribes on the same issue.

"President Obama is a promise keeper," Baker said. "He promised that he would work with Indian country, that he would help us, and he has done that at every turn."

The tribes have shown their gratitude, giving at least $2.5 million to Obama's reelection campaign through the end of July — far outstripping their donations in other recent presidential elections, according to data provided by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

As some of you know I have written before about the support that the President enjoys from our indigenous population, which I find extraordinarily impressive.

I am not sure I can articulate exactly why, but for some reason the very fact that these people, who have suffered for so many generations at the hands of the white invaders, now feel they have a champion with this much derided half black man, somehow feels like some sort of kismet to me.

It is also, by the way, yet another indication that this President of ours keeps his promises. At least when the Republicans don't block him from doing so.

President Obama is the BEST President ever for Native Americans, according to Cherokee Chief.

Courtesy of NewsOK:

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker is here to help nominate President Barack Obama for a second term, and he doesn't hold anything back in his praise for the president.

Obama, Baker said here Tuesday, “is the best president for Indian Country in the history of the United States.”

Through the years, Indian tribal chiefs have met a lot of U.S. presidents, but the meetings with Obama have been more than just superficial photo opportunities, Baker said.

“This president has made promises to Indian Country, and he's kept them,” Baker said. “He is a promise keeper. And that needs to be recognized and rewarded.”

Since his election, Obama has directed his agencies to incorporate tribal input on a broad range of issues.

The Obama administration made Indian Country a significant part of the stimulus and health reform legislation.

And it resolved long-running lawsuits involving Indians and the federal government, including the one involving the mismanagement of individual Indian trust accounts.

The administration also helped push major legislation on tribal justice through Congress, has worked to streamline the leasing process for Indian trust land and launched an initiative to improve Indian schools.

I have to say that of ALL of the endorsements that the President has received lately, and I have listed a number of them here, THIS one really impresses me. I mean REALLY impresses me!

Perhaps it is because I live in a state that has a shameful history concerning its treatment of our indigenous population, but I am particularly sensitive to the idea that we owe the native community an incredible amount of restitution for how they were treated.

So seeing how impressed this community is by how this President has respected them makes me even prouder that I have supported him all of these years.

THIS is the kind of man I want running my country. A man who really cares, and does the right thing simply because it IS the right thing to do.

After Palin blows Gingrich kisses he pretends that he would consider her for a "major role" in his administration. You know, if there were any chance he could become President. Which there is not.

Courtesy of the Situation Room:

“I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I’m president,” he said.

Yeah this has about the same likelihood as one of the Palin children becoming a member of Mensa or entering a convent.

Newt knows full well that his fake campaign is not leading to the White House, so he can offer her anything he wants without having to worry about her ever coming to collect.

Same thing as somebody offering to let you have one of their wishes if they ever stumbled across a genie trapped in a lamp. Ain't gonna happen!

'Yes  that is how I picked my third wife. But it will not be how I choose my VP."

A promise kept.

Now I already know the argument against giving Obama credit for this accomplishment is that the plan to withdraw was agreed upon by the Bush administration (Which is true but does not mean it would have been honored by a Republican President), and that the only reason the troops are being withdrawn is because Iraq refused to provide them immunity from prosecution, which is also not exactly accurate as it was the Iraqi's themselves who were requesting that American troops stay to further train their military.

However there is little doubt that bringing all of the troops home will clearly be seen as a victory for Obama and one that seriously pisses the Republicans off, like that cranky old man who keeps telling everybody to stay off his lawn, and of course Fox News which claims it literally gives the country to Iran, which of course MUST mean it is the right thing to do and that the Republicans in fact had no real intention of doing it themselves.

Health care bill passed, Bin Laden dead, troops brought home for Christmas, not too damn shabby.
