Bristol Palin's unfathomable success on DWTS results in complaints to FCC.

From The Smoking Gun:

In the days after Bristol Palin was voted into the finals of “Dancing with the Stars,” viewers from across the country wrote to the Federal Communications Commission accusing the ABC show of everything from running a “payola type program” to “encouraging and promoting teen pregnancy.”

Many of the complainants, whose letters were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, were upset that, as one Oregonian put it, “the top scores were voted off yet Sarah Palin’s daughter remained on.”

One viewer from Pittsburgh alleged that the show’s voting system had been “fixed by extreme supporters of the Tea Party and Radical Right-Wing. I find that it has become a political platform for Sarah Palin to improve her image and ooze her political slime.” The aggrieved correspondent continued, “Bristol is not a star, what did she do, she had sex and got pregnant. Lets reward her…I made several call to ABC’s complaint line and I hope that their phone lines melt. It has become a political movement, with Tea Party websites instructing on how to vote for Bristol. Ridiculousness!”

Other viewers sought an FCC probe of the show’s voting, since “people are bragging how they ‘gamed the system'.” Two other viewers (one from Indianapolis, the other a Brooklynite) were upset that Palin beat out the R&B singer Brandy for the last spot in the program’s three-person final.

Come on!  We all know the Palin supporters gamed the system and bragged about it.

However I am not sure I would have gone so far as to notify the FCC.  I mean essentially the Teabaggers did all of us a favor by demonstrating to the world that a Palin cannot win anything unless they cheat.

Hey, Gryphen, did you see the comment Cho gave to Access Hollywood regarding ABC telling her to recant what she said about Palin? Her response is great. Check it out.

Palin can use sex to shut up some of the boys, but she can't shut up girls who see her for who she truly is. An aging, dumb ass beauty queen.

Leave the Young fornicator alone. Just obstain from sex. She went on the show and demostrated to all teanagers, how to make a baby and become succefull if you follow her path.
GOP and fake christian values we all should follow, in teaching all teens, cough cough and young adults.
Cough..only the Palins are allowed to have unprotected sex. The rest..Bristol warns you.. "OBSTAIN " because it is so delicious.LOL She showed you girls how to do it, when she danced in her sexy dude ready for sex white shirt with her partner.. Hey just follow that step, you will have double babies and then you will be a star..on all media outlets making $$$$.. Serious.
Oh well Palins Farts smells big. Making the world Notious and throwing up at this point.
By 2012, people will be so fed up with anything to do with the Palin name.
Serious. it is not even funny. The desperation staunts shown by Sarah and her followers are sickening.
Sarah wished she was the first lady in the white house. Oops sorry Todd.. Sarah is your saviour, and you have a right to keep boot leaking her nosense.

The Palins are not very important to me,I would leave them to enjoy their lives in the media outlets, if only Sarah can stop Drooling over the president. She can not go by the day without mentioning the name Obama.
Sarah adores the president, the only problem is she is stack with the PalinMan in a red suit following her book signing tour.LOL
Bwa bwa Bwa Obama this, Obama that. Todd must be notious to see his wife's obsession with the first family. Michelle Obama is a woman with class, that is what kills Sarah.

The only reason that Bristol appeared as a "star" on Dancing with the Stars is because she is an unwed mother who had a child when she was little more than a child herself. Having Bristol made up, wearing glamorous costumes and hair styles while earning hundreds of thousands of dollars glorified her status as an unwed mother. There was nothing about Bristol's appearance that warned kids about the dangers and responsibilities of having unprotected sex. If anything, now kids will see how well that worked out for Bristol, along with other shows like "Teen Mom" or the other MTV shows that make it look like fun to be a teen mom-- no responsibilities, making money, being famous, all for being an unwed teen mom.

Oh how the tricks of photography can distort reality. That shot of Bristol suggests she's some sort of dynamic figure. Please.

What the TP'ers and RWNJ's were doing was actually quite insulting to Bristol. Of course, they are too dense to realize it. If she had been a wonderful dancer, worked hard and improved each week, she wouldn't have needed people voting for her 20, 30, 50 & even 300 times. Their allotted individual votes would have been enough. However, someone obviously realized early on that Bristol sucked, was not practicing as we heard Mark complain, and was not going to get any further without some "additional" help. That is what caused the Twitter and Facebook campaign for votes. They KNEW she couldn't do it on her own because she simply was not doing a very good job, to say the least. When you have people voting for you who wouldn't even bother to watch the show, it's not because they care about you, Bristol. They really don't give a damn about you, instead it was all about getting over on the "left". The crazy part was nobody on the "left" cared about what you did. We're also willing to give credit where it's due. You showed zero improvement until the last couple of weeks, Bristol. If you had actually practiced you might have done much better earlier in the show and wouldn't have needed the voting scam pulled off by the Palinbots. It's NOTHING to be proud of but then again, any young girl who gets knocked up @ 17, and tries to make money off her son wouldn't know pride if it bit her in the ass.

Since many of these "talent-less" reality shows have a public voting system - this season's DWTS showed audiences how very non-reality they actually are. Altho it is depicted as reality shows, maybe ppl are begining to see "it's all staged" - by the producers / cast or cast fans.

Too bad we can't vote Sarah OFF from her own show!

  16. Anonymous2:01 PM

Not to mention that Margaret Cho's comment, true or not (but I choose to believe it's true due to Sarah Palin's own actions), that the only reason Bristol was on the show was because her mother dragged her into it. If that had not been the case, why demand an apology? Kudos to Margaret for standing up to her own words.

    ReplyDelete
  17. SME1312:01 PM

DWTS's producer has claimed several times that they check IP address and discard duplicate votes. That is pure and total bullshit. It says right on their voting page to log out and let another family member log in. You know damn well it was fixed and ABC may just have to change things after all.

I do agree it did prove the Palins don't win unless they cheat, but ABC shouldn't get by with this type of behavior.

I doubt I have to ask how many of the people that wrote or called the FCC called their Rep or Senator when things like the Patriot Act, TARP, or any of the other horrid pieces of Bush legislation were being passed.

Maybe if the running of this country were done as a reality show the masses might actually pay attention to screwing the middle class is taking. Then again given what the Tea Partiers masses have brought to the table maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea after all.

    1:54 PM.

First of all, Cho said she got the info from a very reliable source about Palin blaming Bristol for her loss during the election. Get your facts straight. It was not a rumor.

    ================================
Bristol responded to Margaret’s blog on her Facebook and after she “set the record straight” saying her mother didn’t “force” her to be on DWTS, she concluded with a dig back at Margaret.

“If you ever have a question, call me, girlfriend… You say you ‘don’t agree with the family’s politics at all’ but I say, if you understood that common sense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us… you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert,” Bristol wrote.

“Which is good, cuz I’m trying to ask KD Lang out for a date,” Margaret reacted to that passage to Access. “The way that [the statement] was written, it also sounds like it was written by somebody in Nigeria who has a lot money for me.”

But seriously, Margaret says she doesn’t have any bad feelings towards Bristol.

“I like her, I’m a supporter of Bristol,” she explained. “I’m not a supporter of their family’s politics, but I think she’s a cool person.”

But that doesn’t mean she’s sorry for what she said!

“I’m a stand up comic. I’m here to just talk about what I think and what I’m seeing,” she said. “To me it was just funny. I can’t believe the incredible reaction to it.”

“But even ABC was like, ‘You’re going to go on Access Hollywood? Well, that’s a perfect opportunity for you to set the record straight and retract what you said,” Margaret said. “And it’s like, ‘I’m not going to retract what I said,’ it’s like, ‘What? Are you going to vote me off again?”

It's very easy to verify the voting was done unfairly, just go to Conservatives4Palin and you will find their instructions on how to vote, and vote often. Their instruction was very clear on how to vote multible times as well as their request to do just that inorder to help Bristol win. I'm certain the same instructions were also on Team Sarah, but since they finally realized I was a troll they kicked me off. "It's very easy to verify the voting was done unfairly,"

No it's not verified that way. Verification has to be done via the voting equipment, programs & tabulation - which if the system allowed for say unverified email addresses, etc., then that would be a possible problem. Does the system identify by IP. Depends on what voting verification rules are.

People can write many things on blogs, but it doesn't necessarily mean it correct or that it works. Lies are written and said every day!! So the filings to the FCC may be a good thing to check whether the vote is rigged. Forces ABC to deal with an issue that they did release a statement that said they had a problem.

There have been other shows that had voting problems but I believe the show worked it out.

    Media Insider here -

Yeah, the non-disclosures Cho and the other contestants had to sign were pretty long and legally binding. Cho was probably told she'll be sued within an inch of her life if she didn't tread carefully around the Bristol thing. Not only that, but certain folks could make it hard for Cho to get any mainstream exposure - and she tends to rarely get any, anyway. She's popular within her niche but not a wealthy woman, even though I think her fierce comedy and opinions rock! You see a very different Cho at her comedy performances. But that's a "safe" space to tell her truth.

Everybody, chew on this one. If Bristol isn't pregnant, why isn't she denying it? Why isn't the whole pack of Van Flein and others out there 24/7 getting in front of the story? And also, why is nobody - literally - allowed to ask Bristol the obvious question? They've asked her oblique things like have you lost weight, etc., but they have not once on any media channel asked her if she's pregnant again. And they won't. There is still major protection around this family.

Put it this way. The publicist who died recently? She knew some things - just on the very outskirts of the Palin saga. I'm not saying that got her killed. But her knowledge of things didn't help her any. And she was a very "in your face" person who would call you on your bullshit. She probably pissed off a lot of people in her time. What investigators should be looking at is -- who fired her recently? Or who did SHE refuse to work with anymore?

Media Insider again - part two because text was too long in first comment --

Bristol is in Arizona now so she can periodically go to meetings in LA to help screen the guy who will be cast as her new boyfriend in the new reality show. Actually, there are two show concepts being floated. One is one where she is suddenly dating and in love with a new guy who has to adjust to the fact that he's dating a new mom who also has another child (Tripp. Trig won't be featured, of course.) The other show concept is an Alaskan Bachelorette show where she will be the one picking the guys and at the end will maybe date one of them, but much more casually, like the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows usually are.

The first involves casting a cute, funny guy who will pretend to be her real boyfriend for a period of about eighteen months, tops. They would only spend time together while filming the show. The second show concept is her just choosing from a bunch of guys and giving him a rose or whatever at the end.

How will she be on a dating show pregnant--or with a new baby--is that part of the plan? Or is she giving it away? Obviously she's too far along for any other options--is she going to sell the story and give some sob story of how it happened?

How to do 'hot links' 101.

Here is what a hot link looks like when entered as a comment-

    *a href="url"%hotlink*/a%

Replace the asterisks with a shiftcomma.Replace the % with a shiftperiod. If the actual characters are used , then all that displays after the comment is posted is hotlink. And as an example it wouldn't show what is needed.

Here is how to do a real one.
This is exactly what needs to be typed in. Replace the letters url
with the complete url of what you want to link to. Replace the letters hotlink with whatever you want everyone else to see as a highlighted link. Remember to use shiftcomma and shiftperiod where shown.

Suppose you want to link to a classic IM that announced Sarah Palin resigned. The complete url is http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2009/07/sarah-palin-resigns.html

Suppose you want Sarah Palin WGE Resigns!! to be the highlighted hotlink that is seen after the comment is up at IM.

This is what to type into the leave your comment form

    shiftcommaa href="http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2009/07/sarah-palin-resigns.html"shiftperiodSarah Palin WGE Resigns!!shiftcomma/ashiftperiod

Do not worry about goofy line breaks- just be sure to type it exactly as above. Then preview and the hotlink part should show in highlight. Submit the comment and if it gets by Gryphen you are in business.

    Hope this helps.

If you do this correctly this is what viewers will see

Everything the Palins touches turns into a legal battle cause the Palins usually lie , cheat or steal to get where they are....since none of them have any notable skill or education required for what these Varmins are seeking.

  60. For those who are confused by the Arizona picture that keeps getting posted to this comment section, don't be. There is no date, and it appears to be an attempt to confuse people.

Even if Bristol dropped her baby the day after that last picture with The View's Sheri Sheperd there is NO WAY she would already be as skinny as she appears in the Arizona picture.

There are a LOT of trolls using a LOT of different techniques to mess with us. Always keep your critical thinking turned up to high while reading some of the comments.

THIS IS THE LAST KNOWN IMAGE OF BRISTOL PALIN: Bristol Palin with Sherri Shepherd at "The View" November 24, 2010 | Posted at 11:44 AM
"Dancing with the Stars" Finalists Visit "The View"

THIS IMAGE IS A RUSE WITH A FAKE DATE: Bristol Palin with Tara Swan at mountain pointe dance company in Phoenix, date unknown.

If that link to Bristol Palin's official site says "This content is currently unavailable" here is the same image of Bristol Palin and Tara Swan.

Thank you Gryphen. There was no date with the image but Tara did write in the comments that the picture was taken last Sunday.

I don't know who Tara Swan is but it appears she is in on the ruse. I am glad the FCC has been contacted about DWTS and I hope others that try and deceive will be revealed.

Margaret Cho was on the Joy Behar show tonight and she didn't walk back anything.

She did mention that ABC wanted her to retract the statement....but she said she wouldn't retract the truth.

Regarding the Arizona picture, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some effort coming from the Palin camp to get pics out there claiming they are post-DWTS. It's kind of scary how these people will lie for their queen. The bots must realize she's pregnant and are trying desperately to help cover for her. I can see these kind of people nominating themselves as enforcers under a Palin President going around intimidating people or worse.

I'd like to know what Media Insider has said that hasn't mostly been true.

I tend to think he/she does know some things.

All these "voting" shows have problems. I'm exceedingly annoyed with the "vote for the worst" American Idol voting contingent.

Reporting to the FCC is waste of time.

@5:11 - MI said they all signed NDAs on DWTS. Obviously, that's untrue as M. Cho is saying stuff and writing stuff with no legal repercussions. (Have you ever signed an NDA? I have, many times, and they don't expire.) On another blog, MI said that Bristol would be gone early on from DWTS due to her pregnancy. Nope, didn't happen; she was a finalist, no less. MI said that Bristol's newest baby-daddy is older, and has a major book deal. That's possible, but by the time it can be verified in 2011, this thread will be archived. In terms of people criticizing Palin after the midterms, true, MI did predict that but so did I in these very IM comments (and no one is calling me an insider). It's just common sense that after Palin performed her Tea Party lap dance for the midterms she'd be cut loose by est. GOP. Karl Rove gave the signal in October, & Barbara Bush answered it.

As you say, Gryphen, it's laughable to suggest that that Arizona photo was taken recently! In fact, the pathetic attempts to draw attention to it really serve to make the point that she is preggers. Reminiscent of the infamous Gusty photo (but in reverse). If she weren't really pregnant the 'bots wouldn't bother with the smoke & mirrors

    Media Insider again--

I had been told that Bristol signed a deal where she would make a minimum of $200,000 which was from signing up to do the show and doing a minimum of three weeks of dancing before she would be voted off. The fact that the Palinbots did their illegal voting was a surprise to everybody because nobody expected her to continue to be on since she can't dance. I am somehow a liar because the Palinbots took action and changed the outcome of Bristol's stay on the show? :) I think not. She made the minimum amount and did her three weeks and then unexpectedly was pretty much forced to stay on since the voting was so heavily rigged in her favor. But nobody expected that to happen. Can't blame me for that one!

The NDA's that everybody associated with the show signed WERE extremely binding. Do you really think that what Cho said was damaging? It's all extremely benign. She goes out of her way to say how supportive she is of Bristol but that politically she disagrees with her mom's politics. That's not damaging. Nothing Cho said was damaging, but when she was going to be interviewed the other day she could have easily gotten into some REAL dirt - notice how she backtracked and only danced close to the edge of saying something damaging? Nothing actionable in what she said. But she was mostly likely warned to pull back and voice her support of Bristol because she was pushing things pretty close to the edge.

If you don't understand how NDA's of this nature work, that's okay. There are many types of NDA's. I've signed some for website projects and intellectual property type gigs with media (magazines mostly) and those are very simple compared to the list of highly specific things the DWTS people have had to sign. Not all NDA's are created equal.

Bristol won't be actually filming any of these proposed reality shows until after she has her new baby. Whichever show they end up doing, if it does indeed go forward, would be broadcast in the spring/early summer. There will be a story created about a "he done me wrong" baby daddy who won't be on the show, a sob story about how Bristol was pregnant the whole time secretly on DWTS and danced through her tears, and then she suddenly met Mr. Right. Or if they do the show where she is a Bachelorette the angle will be, "Despite numerous heartbreaks, this plucky unwed mother resolves to start dating again and find Mr. Right this time."

Problem is that Bristol's own chemistry tests with the ten guys they've had her "read" with in LA are god-awful. She can't "act" or even summon up anything interesting to say with a guy. So it's looking more and more like they'll do a Bachelorette type show and let the guys do all the work.

Some folks are still very mad that I choose to remain anonymous and equate this with all manner of nefarious character flaws. So be it. I don't gain anything by going public since I receive information secondhand, not firsthand, from contacts in the industry. Don't like it? Don't read my stuff :)

@7:36 - MI hasn't revealed ANYTHING ( like what?) & she goes from anti-Palin blog to blog spreading the same non-info & innuendo. She was asked to put up or shut up on another blog & now she's here...0h, but I'm the troll? Hilarious.

RC or Ronni Chasen was known by a friend of mine - she was an in your face sort of person and she DID know some details about the Palin saga in LA. I don't think it had anything to do with her death, though. As I said before.

And I wasn't asked to put up or shut up. People were pressuring me to end my stint as an anonymous poster and report to Patrick at Palingates, as if I were some sort of criminal for staying anonymous.

That's not how it works, babycakes. I can do what I want and report the material that is being revealed to me through my wonderful circle of gossipy friends, and I don't have to prove my professional credentials as a newspaper columnist to do it. The two things don't collide in my life. There's juicy gossip from my pals, and then there's my day job. One has nothing to do with the other.

    But nice try! :)
