Even without Joe Miller as their representative in Washington, the militia is still alive and kicking in Alaska.

Schaeffer Cox, pictured in the middle, with his fellow Gestapo members.
From the Fairbanks Newsminer:

Schaeffer Cox appeared at the Fairbanks courthouse Wednesday morning as scheduled despite saying last week he would treat another court date “like an invitation to a Tupperware party.”

However, Cox, the 26-year-old head of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia, did not address the issue of a trial date on a weapons charge as the hearing was intended to do. He instead attempted to serve criminal papers and a restraining order from a “de jure court” on District Court Judge Patrick Hammers.

He also told an Alaska State Trooper after the hearing the militia has the troopers “outmanmed, outgunned and we could probably have you all dead in one night.” But Cox added he could not see himself shooting someone who lives in the same town as him.

About a half-dozen supporters and members of the militia accompanied Cox at the hearing. Initially, militia member Ken Thesing spoke for Cox, calling himself Cox’s representative and “counsel before God.”

Hammers identified himself as a judge at Cox’ request, which was not enough to dissuade Cox in his belief that the Alaska court system is a for-profit corporation. Cox, who also refused to take off his trademark hat in the courtroom, insists the positions of the state judiciary were never actually filled and the court system is a “pre-processing company” with no jurisdiction over Alaskans.

“You’re now being treated as a criminal engaged in criminal activity and you’re being served in that manner,” Cox said.

Doesn't THAT just chill your blood?

And if that wasn't enough get a load of WHY Cox feels he can flaunt the law.

Cox claims he and all Americans are sovereigns, or kings and queens, and no one is required to obey laws unless not doing so would directly harm other sovereigns. Much of his claims center around the belief President Lincoln subverted the original Constitution and replaced it with a copy that incorporated the United States.

Over the summer, the Southern Poverty Law Center released a report estimating that as many 300,000 Americans consider themselves sovereign citizens. The movement has grown with the poor economy, the growth of the Internet and the election of President Obama.

And THAT my friends is exactly the same kind of thinking that makes a person like Joe Miller believe he has the right to hire his own security detail to manhandle journalists, and which makes Sarah Palin (Who definitely had ties to the pro-militia, and pro-secessionist AIP party),  believe that  she is the only hope for this country.

These people are obviously deranged, and clearly dangerous.

However I would bet big money that if you went over to ANY of the pro-Palin websites and linked to this Fairbanks Daily News story they would see NOTHING wrong with this clearly disturbed young man's actions. Nothing that is unless he made the mistake of possibly posing a threat to Queen Esther. THAT would be a whole other matter entirely!

I have lived in Alaska my entire life, and I have seen far more than my share of these crazy anti-government nut-jobs, but never before have I seen them get THIS organized, and get THIS close to getting one of their own into the Senate or onto the road to the White House.

BTW, for those who are interested,  I wrote about this Fairbanks militia group back in April of this year.

This is frightening. I hope the judge treated him as the disturbed anarchist he is.

Something has truly gone wrong in the American psyche. More of our young people are losing self-control. We've all heard about violence in the schools and may have even experienced it ourselves, but the trigger for that violence is getting shorter all the time.

Won't go into all the details, but the point to be made was when my husband, a high school teacher, asked a young man to stop cursing and screaming at his stepsister in the hallway, the kid started screaming at him and then turned violent.

What did the kid say before he struck? He said no one had the right to tell him what to do or how to act because he had the right to do whatever he wanted. He didn't need to follow other people's rules.

He punched my husband in the chest, right over his heart. Thankfully, my husband is very strong, very calm and very knowledgeable;he simply used the kid's momentum for another punch to help the kid fall forward to the floor. He then subdued him until the police arrived.

The kid was hatefully angry about some family affair, but he was even more angry that people were telling him he could or couldn't do something.

Imagine! Being asked not to swear and scream in a school hallway triggered such violence. So angry was this young man that one officer had to press on his carotid artery to slow blood flow and calm him down - after getting the kid in cuffs. The kid tried to bite, punch, kick everyone in authority.

They had to shackle his legs as well because he kicked the principal and the police. He resented all forms of authority because he had the "right" to do as he pleased. Cute, huh?

When I read your post, I immediately thought of what happened at the school yesterday and knew just the kind of person you were talking about. These are angry, angry, people who think they are above every one else, and who have been told that they are free to do what they want by media buffoons such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and politico wannabes such as Angle and Palin.

I hope this madness passes soon.

BTW - my husband is mostly okay now. It could have much worse. All because of some extreme views instilled in or adopted by this kid.

So when Schaeffer Cox beat his wife, it is an appropriate situation for the government to intervene since another sovereign was hurt! http://www.newsminer.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Fairbanks+militia+leader+Schaeffer+Cox+attempts+to+serve+judge+criminal+papers%20&id=10688522&instance=home_most_popular1

By the way, what is the Alaska Pride blog? I just read the following quote and stopped dead in my tracks...."Cox's wife is to be commended for putting the marriage first and accepting her secondary responsibility for provoking the assault in the first place by threatening, in a momentary fit of pique, to leave her husband AND take the kid. No real father can tolerate being cut off from his kid."

Rather than charming and quaint, Palin, Miller and the others have made Alaska a frightening place.

A couple of good books that delve into the far right wing mentality are The Turner Diaries by Andrew Macdonald (may have been the blueprint for the OKC Murrah building bombing) and Dragons of God by Vincent Coppola.

I've had these books since they were published after the OKC bombing. I'm originally from OK and went to OKC to help out after the bombing. Very good and insightful about the beliefs of these wackos.

So, are these the folks formerly known as anarchists? Who don't believe they have to follow rules but everybody else does? Kinda like the superior beings who justify murder of those "beneath" them because they think they are superior? Kinda like the Nazis?

Or perhaps like Raskolnikov in Dostoevsky's 'Prestuplenie y Nakazanie'? (AKA 'Crime and Punishment')

Even as a child, people like these made me uncomfortable. The moment I read the works of Plato and Soccrates, I realized the inherent responsibilities we as individuals have as a part of society.

Even if these folks keep to themselves, their sense of autonomy free from civil penalty and authority is a threat to our safety.

I mourned the women and children of the Wacco stand-off, but these are dangerous type folks that need little external interference to set them off.

Sarah Palin, Joe Miller, Tancredo and these guys are free to move to an uninhabited and inhospitable Island somewhere and create the country they feel our America should be, a land of witch and patriot trials and moral police that cripple freedom and stifle the humanities.

These batshit crazy imbeciles will cling to any ridiculosity, no matter how insane, if it buttresses their conspiracy theories which naturally place them in pivotal roles of global history and authority. These clowns are disaffected morons who can barely control their own bodily functions, let alone events around them. Everything scares them. The sky is perpetually falling and they desperately seek simple solutions to complex problems that only they seem to perceive. They are well armed buffoons.

As to their idle boasts regarding the state troopers, saying that they have the troopers "outmanmed, outgunned and we could probably have you all dead in one night,” my guess is that most of these flaccid little boys would wet themselves if they actually came under fire. Lots of bravery when nothing counts. I am not impressed. The ones who would shoot a trooper would only do so in the back. The rest are just loud mouthed cowards with tiny little dicks.

By the way, since when is threatening to kill state troopers legal? Why didn't the state trooper slap cuffs on him then and there?

Their "logic" wouldn't make sense on a bad acid trip. When do these asshats go to jail?

It is interesting that defeated candidate Joe Miller is on the Board of Friends Community Church Fairbanks Alaska.

This is the church that according to the Fairbanks NewsMiner Feb 20, 2009 that-

"— A growing group of Fairbanks gun rights activists will show their support for the Second Amendment today by openly carrying guns.

“We’re going to have an open carry day,” Schaeffer Cox, unofficial leader of the Second Amendment Task Force, said Thursday.

Members of the task force, which he called a “movement” more than a group or organization, will be displaying their firearms openly across Alaska’s second largest city on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the next two weeks, Cox said.

“There’s a social stigma that only cops and robbers have guns,” Cox said. “The truth is everybody is packing but nobody knows it because we keep it concealed.”

Cox said he expects about 500 gun owners in and around Fairbanks to participate. The idea sprouted at the group’s last meeting on Monday at Friends Community Church. The gathering attracted a crowd of more than 600 supporters, Cox said.

Candidate Joe Miller certainly would not countenance such activity would he?

    OH Dropzone.

And what 'law and order /militia types' other than Bill Fulton and Schaffer Cox attended the 2008 Alaska GOP Convention? Never mind.

According to this Fairbanks Daily NewsMiner
story from December 10, 2010 the courtroom wankery was probably expected. Here is what happened last week:

"FAIRBANKS — A defiant Schaeffer Cox, facing a misdemeanor weapons charge, told a judge Friday he will not attend another court hearing until the court system explains its authority over him.

Cox, the 26-year-old head of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia, spoke from the gallery surrounded by about 30 supporters as he invoked the controversial concept of sovereign citizenship.

“Based on the evidence, I deny the Alaska Court System is the real judiciary,” said Cox, who is representing himself in the case. “It’s a business.”"

"Cox took up almost all of the time during Friday’s 20-minute hearing discussing the concept of sovereign citizenship but some times made vaguely threatening comments about the court system and the federal government.

“There’s a lot of people that would just as soon come and kill you in the night than come in your courtroom and argue during the day,” Cox told District Court Judge Jane Kauvar.

He made mention of “soulless federal assassins” that have come to Fairbanks to provoke a violent incident.

However, Cox said he is seeking a “peaceful coexistence” with the court system as long as they stay out of his business. He said “trigger happy” members of the militia looking for a fight need to be removed from its ranks.

“I am a sovereign, a man of peace, but capable of war,” he said
    .

This last quote is revealing-recognize anything here?

"Much of Cox’s proof in this belief (here the article is referring to queens sovereigns and birth certificates creating something else..?) has centered on the use of capitalization in court documents and whether or not the word “the” precedes the term of “State of Alaska” in official documents, differences largely seen as inconsequential among the legal community."
