Sarah Palin releases statement on Arizona shooting. Update!
Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength" from Sarah Palin on Vimeo.
Now we know what she has been working on while she has been so quiet.
Almost all of her props are present.
Flag in the background? Check.
Flag pin nestled just above her bosom? Check.
Teleprompter reflecting off of her glasses? Double check.
Reference to Ronald Reagan? Check.
Did she just refer to the Blood Libel that Christians have used for centuries to demonize the Jews? I do believe she did.
Reference to Founding Fathers? Check.
Reference to 9-11? Check.
Reference to prayer and God? Check.
Too little too late. I can almost see the fork sticking out of her from here. (And no that is NOT a suggestion that anybody stab her with a fork!)
Update: The Huffington Post has a transcript.
I almost cannot believe that she said this:
Vigorous and spirited public debates during elections are among our most cherished traditions. And after the election, we shake hands and get back to work, and often both sides find common ground back in D.C. and elsewhere. If you don't like a person's vision for the country, you're free to debate that vision. If you don't like their ideas, you're free to propose better ideas. But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.
It was "reprehensible" for journalists to discuss the possibility that Palin putting crosshairs over Gabby Giffords, and her being shot might be connected? Well that is interesting. Because if that is the case, than journalists from ALL over the world engaged in this same reprehensible behavior. I guess that must be THEIR fault and not anybody else's, is that right Ms. Palin?
Every single thing that Sarah Palin has done, has been in some way "reprehensible!" Too bad it took this long for one of her ghostwriters to teach her the word.
Update 2: It was just pointed out that the term "Blood Libel" was used by Christians to blame the Jews for the the deaths or disappearance of children. They accused the Jewish community of taking Christian children and using them as a sacrifice to gain mystical power.
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish.
That is what we call an EPIC FAIL, Sister Sarah.

This is the first time I'm seeing the video, only heard portions of it. She and her backers really ARE hallucinating that she's already President, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteshe is so done. she looks horrible and the new hair ages her horribly. she looks like trash because she is trash.
ReplyDeleteNo leadership fire in that fireside chat -- only palpable anger!
ReplyDeleteToo little, too late, too preachy!
1. at least we know she's in AK, or was when this was recorded
ReplyDelete2. dont forget the Trig pic on the mantle
I will hand it to her. She was going to get criticized with or without the video-ed speech. Let's all be mature and look at this as a sincere gesture. Sarah's not the devil, nor is she evil. She's just your average politician who lies and pursues her individual passions. I will say that at least she has the ability to sound genuine. I've waited for the current PResident to learn this, but alas, No. he and pretty much every other politico is a robot.
Her "speech" made me laugh and get sick at the same time. I guess bologna/baloney isn't a good thing to eat first thing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteShe sounds and looks so fake, because she is fake.
ReplyDeleteRep. James Clyburn (D-SC): "You know, Sarah Palin just can't seem to get it, on any front. I think she's an attractive person, she is articulate. But I think intellectually, she seems not to be able to understand what's going on here."
ReplyDeletehttp://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2011/01/clean_and_articulate.php
One comment. After viewing several pics from throughout the past year I've determined that that flag doesn't move from the fireplace. It may change sides but it's always there. Throughout last yeah Sarah hosted Willow's friends several times
ReplyDeleteOh almost forgot. Many of Willow's friends just completed school and will graduate now. It appears to be common to finish in the winter
You know Anonymous at 5:17 keeps appearing at other blogs, saying that Sarah is in Alaska. Which means she isn't? Why the diversion?

Too little, too late to play the blame game Sarah. The shaking of the head and the pursing of her lips gives away the extreme anger she is so desperately trying to hide. Not once does she apologize or say she will tone it down, not once.
ReplyDeleteStay in hiding forever bitch, you are persona non grata on this planet.
Troll @ 5:17, crawl back under the bridge with your queen
Note the reflection of the teleprompter in her glasses.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe she put this video out today. Total lack of empathy.
ReplyDelete5:17 AM - you're kidding, that sounded genuine to you? She spoke as if she were reading this for the first time.
ReplyDeleteYes, $arah, criticizing you for your hateful, violent rhetoric is just like genocide. You stupid f#%*ing c#]+.
ReplyDeleteI can see her teleprompter reflecting on her glass lenses!
ReplyDeleteLoughner's parents have class. My sympathies to them for what they must endure.
ReplyDeletePalin is clueless and classless. Her and her speechwriters will never get it.
Mr. Pink Underwear who can't wait to get into Sarah's panties jumps to her defense.
ReplyDeletehttp://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/joe_arpaio_defends_sarah_palin_says_sheriff_dupnik_too_political_video.php?ref=fpb
So we get a history lesson and a "don't blame me" video from the Quitter Queen several days later.
ReplyDeletePar for the course, I'd say.
Palin, your slick PR machine failed. Try, just try for once to do some good with the platform you've been given.
Oh, and Anon 5:17
Sarah is evil, the devil and a monster, too.
Apparently the phrase "blood libel" is getting the most early attention. It was a phrase used by Hitler as a false claim that Jews murdered their children and used them in religious rituals. What the fuck is she doing???
ReplyDeleteAnd a lesser point...you put out a speech with a title on it!!! And id doesn't refer to the incident or the victims or the sorrow. It refers to freakin' American Exceptionalism.
She's insane.
Of course she released this TODAY...
ReplyDeleteShe is always in competition with our President.
He will knock her out of the news cycle in 3 2 1.....
She is a fu*king retard. Is anyone really surprised? She had no other alternative but to play the victim.
There is nothing to her but that.
Looks like Sarah continues to "lawyer up", she has to protect her $12 million bucks or however much she made last year. There are at least 18 people who could come after her in a civil suit. Odds are she is bound to loose at least one with all the video and paper trail out there. OUCH!!!
ReplyDelete"Blood Libel"? She needs a dictionary or encyclopedia; hell, even Wikipedia would help.
ReplyDeleteOr is she making some oblique idiotic reference to the fact that Ms Giffords is Jewish?
I suppose she has created a new palinism that all the p-bots will now be using...wrongly.
Sorry can't listen to her. I read the transcript elsewhere before coming here. It took her days to prepare a statement? Pardon me Ram or whoever helps her do it. F*ck her and the moose ( no offense to moose) she rode in on. Move far away from the poor people in AK. Maybe to a secluded island? I know some good folks in AZ. they don't deserve her either.
ReplyDeleteIf Sarah doesn't feel that anything she says has an affect on anyone else, why is she talking???
ReplyDeleteBARF!! I can't even listen to it. Blood libel??
ReplyDeleteAre there any words of warmth or feelings of sorrow or denouncing of gun or violent imagery?
And yes, what a fake fake phony set up with the flag and flag pin, as if she is presidential. Her face nauseates me-
Does she even have advisors anymore? It will be interesting to see what the pundits say.
If anyone else can share what "feelings" she conveys it would be helpful.
And...she's clearly using the dreaded teleprompter.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin saying she bears no responsibility for what happened in Tucson is like a girl getting caught having sex with her boyfriend, then trying to claim she was being raped. Her style of politics is as mean-spirited and nasty as it gets, and while she did not aim the gun and pull the trigger, she--and others--unquestionably bear a great deal of responsibility for having created an environment of hatred and intolerance of other peoples thoughts and ideas if they differ from their own.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41034421/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/
At this point it is just too late, it doesn't matter what she does. If she wanted to appear to "come on strong" the time to do it was right away, not four days later when the news cycle is already moving on, and we know it has taken her and her people all that time to come up with this (which falls short of being impressive).
ReplyDeleteShe will forever be linked to this tragedy and nothing can change that now.
. I will say that at least she has the ability to sound genuine. I've waited for the current PResident to learn this, but alas, No. he and pretty much every other politico is a robot.
ReplyDeleteOh really? So fake is ok as long as it looks good? Just because someone doesn't cry all over themselves doesn't mean they are a robot. Case in point Orange man.
So, to paraphrase her, "stop blaming me, rush & beck" we kicked the dems butt in 2010 and we're ready to do it again in 2012".
ReplyDeleteThat was nothing, in also noticed how she emphasized INNOCENT victims at the beginning of the video.
Whether she had anything to do with it or not. She'll always be associated with the cross hairs graphic and the shooting.
Welcome to 2011!
Anon 5:17 do you honestly think we can't tell you are a troll?? She doesn't sound genuine! Are you on drugs?
ReplyDeletePresident Obama is a warm, genuine caring PERSON!
Even the Republicans who work with him all say he is a great guy and very sincere. Maybe you just can't see beyond the darker skin, I don't know, but there is something wrong with someone who honestly believes Sarah is genuine!
Anon 5:17 -
ReplyDeleteTO each his own. As for me I did not hear or sense an ounce of sencerity or caring in her voice or words.
As soon as a Plain-bot claims something, we know the opposite is true. NOT filmed in Alaska, huh?
She had to do this because the President is speaking today.
ReplyDeletePalin is absolutely correct. "It's time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions". So Sarah, take your accountability piece of the pie and choke on it. You knowlingly and purposely incite those who are on the fringe, and now you have the blood of a child on your hands. You must be very proud.
ReplyDeleteToo little too late. No Class, all trash.
ReplyDeleteApproximately 100,00 soldiers fought at Antietam. 23,000 were killed, wounded, or went missing. Too much blood has already been spilt in this country. Will people ever learn.
Doesn't Snowball Snookey now sanddune/rattlesnake sarah know that elitists can also handle guns. We just don't feel the need to brag about it.
She could have filmed this in AZ. Who is she kidding? No one is as stupid as she.
Great foe rocks...very "presidential". This is what we can expect, recorded messages. I think she is still VERY SCARY. Hey Scrah, how's that drill baby drill, don't retreat reload and I'm the biggest victim in AZ tragedy, thingy working out 4 ya? -E
ReplyDeleteNotice the timing of releasing this obviously well-rehearsed video? The eyes and ears of the nation are on Obama as he travels to Tucson for the memorial. Quick, quick get that damn camera and spotlight on Me, damnit RAM!!!!! Me, me, me, me, me, me,........
ReplyDeleteDamned right! Palin has NEVER been responsible for anything. Her books and her statements make it clear: SHE IS THE VICTIM.
ReplyDeleteIt's the media! It's all those mean, old, nasty people who hate her! It's the lawyers! It's the President!
It cannot possibly be Sarah. I say that with absolute certainty. And how can I be so dead-on certain? BECAUSE SARAH SAYS SO!
Gotta go now. It's time to re-load.
Sarah, one thing you need to come to an understanding about is that I don't need a pundit or journalist to tell me what to think. As soon as I heard the news, I knew where this was going. You see, at this point it really doesn't matter what the gunman was thinking or his politics. This is an opportunity to say ENOUGH and re-examine the trend of the fanatical right. Do we need to wait until the next gunman mows down more innocent people and has a verifiable political axe to grind before we consider what you're doing is wrong?
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do is take responsibility for what you've said in the past, commit yourself and your party to not do it anymore, and move on. You know what you did was wrong. Denying it just makes you look really clueless. Oh, I forgot. You are clueless...
She is mentally ill, it appears. More hate coming from this uneducated woman and she is trying to act like she is the Queen and that President Obama works for her.
ReplyDeleteShe just made the situation even worse for herself, people are furious that she is so clueless.
What a fake.
Jeez, I could only stand 4 minutes of this. Less than two minutes was spent on the AZ tragedy, in which her words were okay, but why was she shaking her head "No"?
ReplyDeleteWeird. Couldn't stand anymore of the self justification and victimization after that. More power to you for making it to the end.
"Blood Libel" Sounds lke code to me. I think that this is designed to rally the troops....blood revenge for people saying bad things about her,
ReplyDeleteThis woman lives in her own alternative universe that looks like a B grade snuff film.
Sarah, you just don't get it do you? Always the victim, aren't you? Sorry Gryphen, but i hope someone DOES stick a fork in her! If all the pundits and journalists and Palin apologists are scrambling like mad to portray this tragic event as non political, why is she referring to this as entirely political?
ReplyDeleteReally people, gear up, it is past time to take her down. Keep the pressure on, keep the belief that she and those like her are to blame for what happened in Tucson. The time has come and we are ready for this. She is going down.
-Ayerishgrl
Gabby pointed the finger at Palin months before she and others were shot. Yes I agree Jared is responsible for this horror but Palin cannot get away from the fact that Gabby Gifford told Sarah Palin; that what she does will have consequences, now Gabby is fighting for her life.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's rhetoric back fired on her big time, Words do matter well it did to the shooter anyhow.
Words have the power to heal and the power to harm, but people like Sarah hasn't a clue...
Although she's very troubled by the "finger-pointing" now, that's pretty much all she's done since she helped John McCain lose the '08 election. The carefully crafted speech she read in the video talks about condemning violence and "shaking hands and getting back to work" following a political disagreement, but she has done none of that herself. Instead, she quit her job as governor and immediately started blaming and criticizing others, and encouraging her supporters to "reload". She hasn't shaken hands with anyone who didn't buy her book or who disagreed with her. Certainly she has no direct responsibility for the event in Tucson, but she also has done nothing to create an atmosphere of tolerance, acceptance, and peace. Her blatant hypocrisy is on display again.
ReplyDeleteHer hair is greasy, her eyebrows don't move and you can see the reflection of the teleprompter in her glasses.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like a person's vision for the country, you're free to debate that vision. If you don't like their ideas, you're free to propose better ideas.
ReplyDeleteShe has done exactly the opposite of what her ghostwriter has written for her to say since the day she was marched out of obscurity onto the national stage.
As usual, the moment Sarah Palin could have gained ground as a mainstream figure is lost (thank goodness) but she remains reprehensible.
Goodbye Sarah, that door is going to hit your skinny as as God closes it.
could she be anymore inappropriate and could that flag be any bigger?
ReplyDeleteI'm disgusted
Well, Princess Palin.... you're the one who scrubbed the gunsights from your website immediately after the shootings.
ReplyDeleteIf you believe there's no way that your hate rhetoric could help inspire violence, you'd have left it alone. This kid isn't the only loose screw running around out there. The truth - and you KNOW this - is that YOUR tactics are designed and intended to persuade, fire up and motivate. There are plenty more like Loughner out there. They believe, Princess.
Your own actions speak much more loudly than your whiny denials.
A comment that I have heard is that Loughner's mother is have a nervous breakdown over this.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the mental illness factor. A member of my family was very ill for many years. It absolutely tears the family to pieces. He died many years ago and we can finally look back at his memory with peace.
Rattlesnake Sarah is in the right state. She will spit her poisonous venom out heedless of those on the receiving end.
Anon @ 5:20 - I take great exception to Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) referring to Sarah Palin as articulate. What is it with people grasping for compliments for the former quitting Governor that they come up with articulate and well spoken?
ReplyDeleteDo we all speak word salad?
Well, When you use the langauge of war and you incite violence call it what you want. Only idiots are so niave to thenk that what the politicians say don't influence people. Why else would they say it? Sarah Palin knows she was over the top or why else did she take the cross hairs down. Now she wants to defend her stupidity. I would have more respect if she just said "I am sorry and I will ratchet my rhetoric down". But no, she wants to defend herself. Congresswoman Gifford warned of this and no one listened.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you got blood on your hands.
Couldn't give up 7 minutes of my life to watch the video, so I read the transcript. I looked in vain for a simple, direct message to her rabid fans: Don't use violence for political disagreements! It was all lawyer-talk. She only wants to make it clear that it's not her fault. She is vile!
ReplyDeleteBut you've got to hand it to the right-wing spokespeople (Limbaugh, Fox talking heads, etc.), they're good at staying on message. No matter how damaging that is to our country.
She had a choice to go home to Alaska and shut-up because that would have been the grown-up thing to do, or , as she chose, run your mouth and stay in the public light. Now that the light is shining on her, she wants nothing to do with it. Home baking cookies suits this woman about as well as any other thing she's ever tried. Please, for everyone's sake, ex-Gov., be quiet and stay in Alaska, quietly becoming less self-important everyday. Wonder what the leaders of the GOP are really thinking about their self crowned princess???
ReplyDeleteSarah's map notwithstanding, it should be a crime to threaten violence on *any* elected public official, especially gun violence. It's one thing to say you want to kick someone's ass, but it's another thing entirely to target someone with gunsights. Kind of shocking to learn these law exist for employees in the Executive branch but apparently not the Legislative branch. That's a discrepancy that shouldn't exist, if that is truly the way it is.
ReplyDeleteBut in any case, let's say your kid draws that map at school, maybe with the names of some classmates on it. What do you think happens?
The amateur hour is coming to a bad end at Palin HQ I suspect, a direct result of the folks she has advising her, and her own issues (!). Betcha we see some shake-up's in her staff, yep, you betcha, also, too, *wink* How's your foot taste Becca?
Do you think she has had more facial surgery? The cheeks look more stuffed.
ReplyDeleteBlood Libel - I'm glad she's said this before her supposed trip to Isreal, maybe now the International Jewish, especially American Jewish community can start to press her on her 'expertise' on Isreal and why she thinks there is going to be a mass influx of immigrants to that tiny nation?
ReplyDeleteShe hastens the Rapture, she can't wait to meet Jesus Christ in her lifetime. Her support of Isreal is for selfish, personal reasons, not for a People.
What is different about her appearance?
ReplyDeleteHair that looks like it needs to be washed? Same as always
Lantern jaw? same
Excessive eye make-up? same
Modest necklass? Different
No earlings? Different
Is this her "church lady" look?
Well, I don't see any evidence of plastic surgery, so I conclude that the extended period of twitter silence was the result of drug-induced stupor.
ReplyDeleteSo now that the handlers have their little puppet functinal again, will they strut her out on the campaign trail? Iowa, Israel, New Hampshire is the probable itinerary. Oops, scratch Israel. The "blood libel" comment, you know.
Anonymous 5:17 says "Sarah's not the devil, nor is she evil."
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is a sociopath. Deprived of positive narcisstic supply, sociopaths are evil.
What I found most interesting was when she nodded, when she shook her head. Every time she discusses her sympathies for the victims she shakes her head. anytime she talks about American Exceptionalism she nods.
ReplyDeleteThanks to 5:17 for the good laugh. Oh my goodness. I never knew that there were people that do that! They come in and try to be part of the group, and then twist things. But for anyone to claim she is genuine, ya.....no. Why do they do that? What is the point?
ReplyDeleteI lost my innocence today.
Breaths a sigh of relief. . .we can count on Sarah to remain an intellectually and emotionally stunted woman / "leader" no matter the new money or professional sycophant help.
ReplyDeleteShe could have reinvented herself since her glaring lack of qualifications and character revealed she was trotted out too soon in 2008. When she quit to help Alaska out, she could have reemerged once again to reveal an older, wiser, chastened but trenchant leader at the Tea Party convention. Nope.
She could have come out a softer, humble, yet enduring figure after her platform of hate created an atmosphere conducive to violent anti-government backlash. . .nope.
She remains a gutteral, wee-wee'd up victim of pop culture.
Poor Sarah. She will never get it. The level of her violent imagery should be addressed and she should apologize for it. She will continue to blame the LSM and pundits and everyone else but the people who decry violent imagery are being ignored by her. All anyone wants to hear is her say, "Those crosshairs were not a good idea in retrospect and I won't use them again." She is so defensive and self-centered she will never be able to bring herself to say that. More than that I believe she likes the violent imagery--she likes crosshairs--she likes taking people out--she likes the way violent images makes her feel powerful. No one blamed her for this event but she is responsible for her speech and she has been called out on it. I am so sorry she had her feelings hurt but she wants to play on the big stage so she will have to take the legitimate criticism of her actions.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/mountaingal/sarah-palin-arizona-shooting-statement_n_807833_73657363.html
Yikes...she is looking damn rough...sorry, that was my first thought when I saw the video. My 2nd thought was "Is that a teleprompter reflecting off those glasses?" Yup...I tuned out after I heard "Ronald Reagan".
ReplyDeleteSarah, it isn't attractive and it isn't statesman-like to clench your jaws and press your lips into a fine line all the time in front of the camera.
ReplyDeleteWhen's Sarah going to start her 700 Club cable show?
ReplyDeleteSarah just put more icing on the gun crosshairs map and made herself look even worse.
ReplyDeleteEver who is advising her, writing her comments is doing the worst thing possible for her.
She just keeps on stirring up the same old chit over and over again. She and her paid political advisers do not have a clue as to what to do with this illiterate creature.
"President Obama and I may not agree on everything, but I know he would join me in affirming the health of our democratic process."
ReplyDeleteOh, so now she's the leader and Obama is following her? No, you were just a bad bet that McCain made to try to get elected, a hail Mary pass. And if you didn't look conventionally attractive, you would not be given the time of day for your ignorance and your inside ugliness would have shone through even brighter.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/MiddlePassage/sarah-palin-arizona-shooting-statement_n_807833_73656349.html
A commenter on another site (PG? HuffPo? I can't find it again, but whomever--thank you!!) picked up on an article posted yesterday on Human Events that used the phrase "blood libel" in its headline. It may or may not have been written by someone on the Palin team, however, the post is blatantly Xtreme RW and the words were obviously "borrowed" for her little lecture today:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=41117
I doubt that SP or RAM made a connection between the phrase and its anti-Semitic meaning; they may have just thought the "blood" verbiage would attract the usual followers. IMO, her backers used it to stir up controversy as always and keep Nimrod in the media. Pitiful.
¨Vigorous and spirited public debates during elections are among our most cherished traditions.¨
ReplyDeleteToo bad you run away from them, sarah. It is clear many of America´s ¨most cherished traditions¨ scare the chit of you.
O´sarah bin palin cowering in cave, hiding from her own self-inflicted crosshairs, releasing a video ala Osama bin Laden.
You are not undergoing a retreat, or a reload, or a¨Daddy reload,¨ you are undergoing a rout.
A veritable rout.
The entire world is field dressing your arse.
LMAO!
Doesn't she know that she has totally screwed her brand? I really thought she was taking time off to work on that.
ReplyDeleteshe needs some professional help (and I'm not just talking mental).
Palin's bizarre use of language is sure to provoke further controversy – a blood libel refers to the false claim that Jews murder children to use in religious rituals. Giffords is Jewish.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jan/12/sarah-palin-response-arizona-shooting
Why 'blood libel'?
ReplyDeleteThe blood libel is a false accusation that Jews sacrifice Christian children either to use the blood for various "medicinal" purposes or to prepare Passover Matzoth (unleavened bread) or for vengeance.
If it's true that Gabriel Giffords is Jewish, she'll be outraged by Palin's use of this anti-semitic slur.
Troll @ 5:17 a.m.,
ReplyDelete$arah Palin is not "genuine." She has just opened up a new can of worms with this lame "CYA" video. All she can do is think about herself. "Me, me, me." Most of this 8 minute video was really all about her. How dare she try to play the victim, after 19 people were shot, six of them killed, including a little girl. You are delusional. I doubt most Americans will see this as "genuine." She's telling people not to point the finger at HER, while pointing the finger at everyone else. I bet she thought she was going to shut us up with this video, too. Wrong! Her timing was pathetic, as well. She released the tape the same day the REAL President will give his speech tonight. The media will compare her speech to his. He will be the winner. He towers over the pathetic whining Palin.
I know why it took so long for Saint Sarah to show her fake face. It took a while for her writers to polish a flawless speech (including the lack of an apology for any hint of blame) and even LONGER to practice the speech so that it rolled off her filthy lips with perfectly timed vocal inflections. Gah! I rate this a puke level RED!
ReplyDeleteReal leaders show up in person, grieve with victims and seek ways to help.
ReplyDelete$arah speaks from twitter, facebook and video.
You decide who the real leaders are.
$arah Palin is kicking off her "Don't Blame Me" tour.
ReplyDeleteI am confused. Can someone help explain her use of blood libel. I understand the shock value of it, but when dealing with this nut case, one is usually sure that scara did not write these words and likely does not understand them either, but was it on purpose or out of plain stupidity to use this term correctly in this event. I am reading that it was not a good idea because of insulting Jewish people, but then others are commenting that it was in support of the Jewish community---I am getting old and comprehension is not always my strongest skill. Help.......
ReplyDeleteCouldn't watch the whole thing. Aside from all the observations already made here I would add; same old same old. Whatever they are doing accuse others of. Whatever virtue they are taking credit for, others have done.
ReplyDeleteStarted watching the video with the sound off. Cannot stand to hear her voice. She tried to be serious, but too many times, her mouth was stretching into a smile. Like she can't control it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, wasn't there some comments awhile ago about the head shaking from the BW interview? When she says something positive her head shakes no. She does this all the time in this video. Shaking her head no. Maybe to reinforce what she is saying, but I don't think for one minute that she believes a word of what she is saying.
Rattlesnake Sarah strikes again.
Gaaaaa! She is such a fucking idiot. She's using an ANTI-SEMETIC slur to defend herself! Don't her advisors have a fucking clue to how disgusting that reference is? What the fuck? She gives new meaning to reprehensible, fucking lameass!
ReplyDelete"Blood Libel"? Now this creature compares herself to the Jewish victims of the Inquisition, various pogroms across Europe and the Holocaust?
Given that Representative Giffords is Jewish, "blood libel" is one of the most idiotic choices of phrases that Palin could ever use.
Every time she makes a public statement, she makes things worse for herself.
I'm speechless.
"Blood libel From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ReplyDeleteBlood libel (also blood accusation[1][2]) refers to a false accusation or claim[3][4][5] that religious minorities, almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.[1][2][6] Historically, these claims have–alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration–been a major theme in European persecution of Jews."
I had to look this up because I could not understand its context used by Palin. I still can't understand what she meant. What a "flippin' " fruitcake. She looks absolutely nuts.
Nevermind:
ReplyDeleteI just found a great site "The Arena" where they are discussing my confusion. Worth a look if anyone is as slow as I am.........
I keep wishing she would just go away and stay out of "public life". The right thing to do would be to give us her heartfelt sympathy for the victims, their families, and best wishes for the survivors. IT IS NOT ABOUT HER!!! What is so hard to understand about that? Any person with an ounce of feeling...Oh, wait...
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you 10 bucks they had to phonetically spell out 'reprehensible' on the teleprompter for her.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought she couldn't be more foolish. She almost writes your blog for you, G.
ReplyDelete"Blood libel refers to a false accusation or claim that religious minorities, almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays. Historically, these claims have—alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration—been a major theme in European persecution of Jews."
ReplyDeleteDefinition above is from Wikipedia. Soooo, RAM and Rattlesnake Sarah did a google search on death of children and came up with this one. How well do you think this is going to make her in the eyes of "elitist" journalists or maybe just everyone. Are we all that stupid?
Bungling idiots, both of them.
Whoa! This should be dubbed ¨The Teleprompter Speech.¨
ReplyDeleteIt is impossible to concentrate on what sarah is saying. All you notice is the teleprompter reflecting off her glasses.
The teleprompter glares at the viewer from both of sarah´s eye glass lenses, like two Las Vegas neon signs.
The teleprompter steals the spotlight, seizes the moment away from sarah.
The teleprompter dominates the entire composition, highlighting sarah´s superficiality.
The inanimate teleprompter has punked sarah!
There is a God!
Today has been set aside to honor the victims of the Tucson massacre. And Sarah Palin has apparently decided she's one of them.
ReplyDelete--Josh Marshall
If I understand Sarah correctly, she is saying it was reprehensible for Gabrielle Giffords to suggest that the rifle sight map was a dangerous incitement.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. She is accusing Giffords of creating a 'blood libel'.
This woman is sick. - Rob
From today's Democracy Now's headlines: (I can bear it.)
ReplyDeleteFamily Friend of Slain Girl Remains Hospitalized
The memorial service with President Obama is one of a number taking place in Arizona and around the country. The youngest victim was nine-year-old Christina Taylor Green, a third-grader recently elected to the student council at her elementary school. The husband of Susan Hileman, a family friend who escorted Christina to the event and was herself wounded in the shooting, said his wife remains in shock.
Susan Hileman: "I hear her in her semi-conscious ramblings screaming out, 'Christina! Christina! Let's get out of here! Let’s get out of here!’ And she keeps talking about the holding of hands and then the realization that she was on the ground and the bleeding was profuse. Her memory seems to end there."
Nothing will stop Sarah "The Deranged" Palin, except people with icebergs and there will have to be a lot of them coming from many people and places.
ReplyDeleteBut I do believe the road ahead for Sarah is not going to be pretty in pink. Michelle Bachman will put a wrench in her agenda and how will she spin that.
The victims and theie families of this tragedy and many people at the scene will put a wrench in her agenda. I wonder if any of the victim WHERE republicans?
I still stick to my theory that this young man had a crush on Gabby in 2007 and that is why the note found in the safe. But when Sarah came on the scene a shift.
Sarah and her violent and vicious rhetoric and gun advocacy hit home for this young man. So Jared's love for Gabby diminished and his new love for Sarah grew.
He lived and breathed Sarah and everything she is about. He wanted to show Sarah how much he loved her by killing one of the person's on her reload map.
This young man was definitely influenced by Sarah definitely. Sarah you are absolutely the most pathetic woman. That pic capture speaks milliions about her.
She is EVIL to the BONE!!!!!! And of course she always speaks after President Obama, because she has to wait and hear what he says. For the mere fact she can do better!!!
Sarah could never speak more eloquent than the President EVER! And she does not truly speak to the people but is fighting the President with her speech in comptetion for the camera.
You are a LOSER SARAH PALIN!
You are a JOKE SARAH PALIN!
You are a FARCE SARAH PALIN!
YOU are a CLOWN SARAH PALIN!
People should have a map like yours with your house and family on it WHAT WOULD YOU THINK ABOUT THAT SARAH a target map of you and wasilla. YOU would protest you two faced hypocrite loser scum!
Had to rant because Sarah sucks!
Yes what a timing. Sarah you have to release a statement before the president does otherwise he will out do you...
ReplyDeleteThat is the Sarah I know and her clan...
Sarah is not the POTUS... But I think her and her handlers think she is.
She had to release a statement before the president speaks.
Why did'nt she do it just after the shooting????????????
Keep chasing your own tails.
The second paragraph of the Wikipedia definition states that Christianchildren were to be abducted and used in the Jewish faith ceremony. Then the children become matrys. The Pope apparently condemned this thought.
ReplyDeleteDid Rattlesnake even consider what she was saying? A Jewish Congresswoman and a Roman Catholic child! No depth, no compassion for the circumstances, WOW, WOW.
Maybe now if the Pope chimed in with a statement, she can go after him. Her IQ must be under 90. And both she and RAM are certifiable.
Chris Matthews will have a field day. What bile will RL spew to defend her now.
Narcissism = No Remorse
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 5:18AM said:
ReplyDeleteI will hand it to her. She was going to get criticized with or without the video-ed speech. Let's all be mature and look at this as a sincere gesture. Sarah's not the devil, nor is she evil.
Seriously? Mature?? SINCERE???
That video was so full of snark , it was dripping off her pointy little nose. She is the devil, and she IS evil.
Using the term Blood Linel would be just like her hateful ways since the woman targeted is Jewish. She knows what she is doing. She canny help but be mean.
ReplyDeleteMedia matters highlights the greatest contradiction in her staff-written, teleprompter-delivered speech:
ReplyDeleteViolent political rhetoric does not incite violence but criticizing the violent political rhetoric does incite violence.
It took her this long to respond, and she chooses the day of remembrance for the victims to make it about her? She could not come across as less presidential or less cowardly.
I wonder how many publicist FOX had to hilp to write her message. It surely wasn't her. The grammer was too good. I'm sick of Palin's ever contant move of trying to reflect the blame onto others for her stupidity. I don't necessarily believe her chart with the gun sights had any influence on the gunnman, but her negitive and hostile rhetoric along with all the others, including FOX and from people like Rush and Beck, didn't help. She has never take blame for her actions, and never will. And where is the debate she speaks of that plays such a part in our government. She has never engaged in any debates since her V.Pres. debate and only sends out one way negitive comments that prevents others to question her on. I hope this is the last of Palin and the negitive messages she sends out. She, FOX, Rush, and Beck are now on damage control and it's obvious.
ReplyDeleteOf all the videos I've watched of that despicable POS, that one was the most sickening. The soft, over-rehearsed, slimy voice, teleprompter reflecting in the glasses. Why doesn't she just quit, go be a televangelist? That's where she belongs. I kept thinking Franklin Graham while listening - it sounded like his slick, slimy clap-trap.
ReplyDeleteShe's announced plans to visit Israel this Spring. Then she throws in the "blood libel" remark. Wonder if those tickets are repundable...I mean refundable. Stupid bitch. I can't stand that woman.
I will try to watch and listen to the 7-8 minutes later b/c I want to see how her feelings and compassion register for the victims. I am still overwhelmed about Christina Green. There are so many other deep and compelling stories of people that make America great. Not even Sarah could only do an excuse-fest on the day Congress is honoring the victims and the national memorials are beginning.
ReplyDeleteI don't get her timing at all. She waited until after the Loughner family made their statement. They have no PR advice, aren't public persona and must be caught in unbearable grief. I don't know why Palin would take so long and wait until today to be the first one out with a statement. I hope she shows more humanity then what I've heard in this speech so far. The look of propaganda does her no good.
I would still like to know why she had her staff, Rebecca Mansour, lie about the visual imagery. When Palin can go further into things and discuss things outside of her protected space she will have more credibility. As long as she is only talking to the few, 20% or what it is, she is empty to the rest of the world.
"Today has been set aside to honor the victims of the Tucson massacre. And Sarah Palin has apparently decided she's one of them."
ReplyDelete--Josh Marshall
So Sarah, How's that Targety - Reloady thing workin' out for ya?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! One of our nation's greatest national tragedies in recent memory and Palin feels that the most lamentable aspect is that she feels she's been maligned!
ReplyDeleteDAMN! Look bitch, it's NOT always about YOU!
How narcissistic can she possibly be!? How profoundly offensive it is to her Palin trying to evade responsibility for her insensitive and reckless words and deeds in this matter. She is simply devoid of empathy, understanding, and compassion.
A slight paraphrase of Joseph Welch's words to Joe McCarthy seems apropos. Mrs. Palin:
"You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, [madam]? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
Palin, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
She can read more articulate words on a teleprompter. That does not make her articulate.
ReplyDeleteI watched it twice.
ReplyDeleteI thought her delivery was very amateurish. For example, at about the 1:23 mark she says "Like many."
(pause, new thought...)
"I spent the last few days..."
She stumbled around the words - it was like a rehearsal of a bad high-school play.
So the second time through I imagined weird sound-effects. Like one of those whistles that go up in pitch or a klaxon horn. Goofy sounds like that. Like Spike Jones and his City Slickers used to use back in the 40's and 50's.
For example:
"Like many." (aaa-OOOOga)
"I spent the last few days" (boi-yoi-yoiiiing)
"...it's time to restore the precept" (klonk) "...that each individual is accountable for his own actions" (zing, wheeEEEWWWWWwwww, clang clang clang)
"Like Ronald Reagan said" (fart noise)
"...so we must condemn violence if out Republic is to endure." (laugh track guffaws - while a little Sergio Aragones cartoon character comes walking by and sticks a fork in her)
One more thing about us as U.S.
ReplyDeleteThe sale of semi-automatic Glock pistols has surged since Saturday.
To Anonymous @ 2:17 a.m.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is NOT "your average politician". She has no principles, no morals. She's a blatant liar - way beyond the norm and she's stupid. Rock solid stupid.
Over the past two years, I've wondered just how low she would stoop. If she had a limit.Today, proved that she can come out after the carnage in Tucson and spew her coded messages and insults, business as usual, full of self-pity. There's no limit to the depths she will go to.
Hard to imagine who is pumping her up, telling her she can keep on rolling after Tucson but they are so wrong. Tucson has moved Sarah Palin to a totally new category. Trying to move on, with no acknowledgment of her incredible past bad judgment, is a major mistake. Major mistake.
Sharon1943
I still think she is done. Putting out this kind of video reveals the desperation of her and her team. Republicans were already pulling away from her, and while they may not come out publicly against her, I believe they will continue to marginalize her behind the scenes. If they came out against her publicly now, it would just be an admission that they knew her rhetoric was reprehensible and just stood by.
ReplyDeleteShe'll never get the bloodstains out.
Oh Sarah, Sarah.... only a fool refuses to learn from his experiences... whether or not your angry, divisive words had anything to do with this particular incident... common sense alone.. without any psychiatric degree will tell you that, anger begets anger, hatred begets hatred.. it is not rocket science
ReplyDeleteMaking that video was just one thing on her "to-do" list. Now that she has done it, she can go back to being preoccupied with whatever it was that had her getting quieter and quieter. So far, the only glimmer of positive that I have seen in the last few days is that we have been hearing that no one feels they condone violence. I wasn't sure of that before.
ReplyDeleteI object to her use of the term "blood libel". That is a very specific term associated both with intense emotions and consequences.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_libel
Is she comparing herself and the other ultra-right to Jews, saying they are being violently persecuted because the press has manufactured a "blood libel"? That is just so twisted it is beyond belief. I also can't believe she is smart enough to make this up on her own.
Leave it to sarah to make sure she's done for after she's already made sure she was done for.
ReplyDeleteHow many forks does that make?
Oh Sarah. Instead of having the grace to reflect and say "yeah, that things have gone over the line and I'm sorry for my part", you have made this all about you and how you have been wronged. In addition, you have managed to use the phrase "blood libel" which has a very specific anti-Semitic meaning. Good job, you behaved exactly as expected. Why does Sarah make EVERYTHING about Sarah? She'll never take responsibility for her actions. She may not have pulled the trigger with this shooter, but her constant vitriolic rhetoric has absolutely contributed to the harsh climate in our country. It's her typical song and dance. But remember Sarah, as you are pointing that finger at everyone, there are three fingers pointing right back at you!
ReplyDeleteAt least we now know where she's been for the past three days -- constructing this Orwellian piece of double-speak.
ReplyDeleteThis is more documentation of her incompetence. They can dress her up, they just can't let her out. She has to stay in her cave until she can learn to walk and chew gum at the same time. Her only success is that she is getting the lines in the sand she wants. She has Sheriff Joe, Limbaugh, McCain, Mansour and worse on her side.
ReplyDeleteSo, did anyone else notice that in this video, Sarah looks identical to Trig (think crosseyed look)
ReplyDeleteObviously someone else wrote the piece, it almost makes sense. Blood Libel: I think the Mormons had this concept in their earlier days. It had to do with people who left the church or didn't follow the precepts of the church in Utah. Maybe someone who knows more about Mormonism than I can speak to it.
ReplyDeleteSo typical Sarah. Redirect back to ME ME ME! Blaming me is wrong. It's never my fault.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I agree it's too much to say it's Sarah Palin's fault this happened, but her inability to ever admit she exercised poor judgment reveals a glaring personality flaw.
If my child (or any child) drew a picture of kid with crosshairs over it, I'd be getting a phone call. Depending on whatever talk accompanied it, the child might even be suspended from school.
There's a reason we teaching our children it's wrong to draw things like that. It's dehumanizing. We don't want our children to dehumanize others. Why? Because when you forget the other person is a PERSON, it makes it all that much easier to be cruel to them, yes, even to kill them.
Of course, in Sarah's world, she's the only person.
"Blood libel" is a long-established term with a well-known definition. Unless she's literally admitting that she cooks matzos in the juices of babies, it just doesn't apply here. I swear, if this woman ever says anything that makes sense, I'll keel over from a heart attack.
ReplyDeleteAmerican flag in the background? Check! BUT displayed incorrectly according to the Rules and Regulations for displaying the American Flag.
ReplyDelete"When displayed from a staff in a church or public auditorium on or off a podium, the flag of the United States of America should hold the position of superior prominence, in advance of the audience, and in the position of honor at the clergyman's or speaker's right as he faces the audience."
However, one would have to read to know about such things. Nice try, Queen Narcissism!
Everytime I think she can't say anything more reprehensible than she has in the past, she has proven me wrong. Of course, it's all about her, not about the victims and the violent rhetoric she has repeatedly used over the last two years. She will never ever admit a mistake on her part.
ReplyDeleteGryphen, I've looked over a lot of articles about her, read both books-what a chore! and yet have not found a time in her life where she ever took responsibility for what she may have done wrong. Do you know of her ever apologizing at anytime during her stint as Mayor or 1/2Gov?
This woman needs to just stop talking, and go home--to where ever that is and stay put. I, and I know many others, can't even stand the sound of her shrilly voice let alone what comes out of her mouth.
ReplyDeleteUnintelligent, self-serving, illiterate, without an iota of intellectual curiosity, she has high-jacked the more vulnerable in our nation with her money-making ramblings.
It's okay for her to put crosshairs on Rep. Giffords name (even Rep. Giffords said there would be consequences to that) but it's not okay for the rest of the world to discuss and point that out, Ms. Palin? Go home.
The entire civilized world immediately connected the violence in AZ last Saturday with SPaylin not because they are dems or left or progressive, but because she has put herself in the news on a daily basis since John Mc. brought her on the national political stage. Her speach and writing, wether coming from her or her ghost writers, no matter, has been constant and coming at us through facebook, twitter and of course then touted to us all by the media. If you have read or heard abut her and who hasn't, you have to agree that she is and has been devisive and she has and does use terms that are more on the violent side as has Sharon E. from CO. with her comment of "second ammendment solutions". Please stop defending what is indefencible. SP has doubled down on her comments of "death panels" and her map with the crosshairs are just two examples of her viciousness. Narcisstic personality comes to mind after reading her latest response using your "blood libel" in your post. Just read the book "sociopath next door" and she may not be one but is definitely in the narcisstic category big time! Her father Chuck said she doesn't make the decisions and I believe that, but she is still responsible for words that are attributed to her wether she writes this stuff or not. It's not a coinsidence when the world wakes up to last Saturday's violence and SP comes to mind. Critical mass comes to mind.
ReplyDelete"...journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn."
ReplyDeleteUm, that sounds like a threat to me. Honestly, it sounds like she is saying that her supporters can be expected to be filled with hate and violence upon hearing the recent criticism of her past words and actions, and that THE JOURNALISTS AND PUNDITS will have no one to blame but themselves if that happens.
"...journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn."

LOL @ Anonymous @5:17 a.m. Palin is sincere and President Obama is not? Back to Crazies4Palin for you, run along, you tried and it didn't work. Palin is anything but sincere and neither are you, you're both a joke. As far as I'm concerned, Palin is evil as she has no sympathy or concern for others. Only a woman without a conscience would be looking for sympathy for herself, always playing the victim, while a family is getting ready to bury their nine year old daughter along with many other families and their loved ones this week.
ReplyDeleteHow do you look at yourself in the mirror after defending this horrible woman?
Timed to deflect attention from the President's address and the carefully placed "I am sure President Obama will agree with me" to create the allusion that their words carry the same weight and that they are on the same "page".
ReplyDeleteThe scene at Palin central:
ReplyDelete"Ok, team, we need a political speech and a CYA about those crosshairs on that map, so what's the best approach?"
"How about a slur about Jews?"
"AHHHHH, ___GREAT__ idea. That woman that got herself shot is Jewish, right? slur is PERFECT!!!"
cant watch it and i doubt many people can. she is officially done with.
ReplyDeletenothing there.
one thing is for sure. she is going straight to hell. no doubt.
Not only is Rep. Giffords, Jewish but Gabriel Zimmerman (30) who died is also Jewish. Palin *&@$#* up again. She's offended not only the world-wide Jewish community but she offended the families of both Rep.Giffords and Gabrial Zimmerman, who deserve the utmost respect...especially today.
ReplyDeleteSharon1943
The teleprompter reflected in her glasses informs me that she was well prepared to deliver a perfect scripted performance crafted by teapublican market strategists to bring forth a patriotic glow that would make her patron saint, Reagon, very pleased with her reading.
ReplyDeleteAll this dummy needed to do was to walk back her decision to post a map with cross hairs on the districts she 'targeted'. Something like 'maybe it wasn't such a good idea." But no. Congresswoman Giffords was offended by that map and said as much last March. The very least Palin should do is apologize to Rep. Giffords 'if being targeted with a cross hair on your head offended you.' Instead, she's trying to put the spotlight on herself as the victim instead of it being on the woman fighting for her life in intensive care.
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:04, it's CLEARLY anti-Semitic. I am Jewish and I say to Sarah : fuck you you cold cold irresponsible bitch.
ReplyDeleteGo away and PLEASE stay away from my homeland Israel. We don't want you and you will only INCREASE anti-semitism!! Although now I see you don't care one bit you fraud! I always knew you were anti-semitic!
Sarah Palin takes this opportunity, on this day, to align and identify herself with one of the most persecuted groups in world history? Using a horrifically sensational reference? I am a Christian, and I am always deeply troubled by the far right's cynical tie to the Jews - they are using them now and feigning brotherhood but when judgement day comes, look out... There really are no words.
ReplyDeleteShe pretends that we have a long tradition of "spirited debate", that we once upon a time settled duels with pistols....so, that apparently means what happened in Tucson is simply along a continuum of our national heritage and democracy? Is she nuts?
This is so completely appalling.
If anyone wondered about her before, this shows 100% what her character consists of.
And that would be nothing.
Anti-sematic slur that she obviously doesen't understand. Kinda out of her league with these big words.
ReplyDeleteHer inability to acknowledge responsibility for her actions is almost pathological. She starts her message saying "It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions." Well, Sarah Palin, so are you! Take responsibility for your speeches drenched in gun and violence imagery against those who disagree with . they contribute to a climate of violence in this country.
ReplyDeletePalin appears to be giving that speech in ARIZONA.
ReplyDeleteThe other time I recall a fireplace when she spoke was at Thanksgiving/DWTS week. Nov 23 her book tour started in Phoenix, the same night of DWTS finale. She spent Thanksgiving in AZ as next tour date was Nov 26 in OK.
This is not about you, Mrs. Palin.
ReplyDeleteThis is about the victims of h@te, and mental illness, and gu.ns. This is about how we the people treat each other without regard to consequences or intent. I'm sorry she's feeling so bad for herself, but we don't have the time, nor the inclination to share in her self pity.
We the people she so loves to mention but always fails to support are mourning today, but not for her.
Too often our words wound and injure. Maybe for once we can try to use words to heal and to comfort. We can also use words to apologize and to accept responsibility for the words we used to injure.
Sarah will never understand that we looked to her when this happened, not because we blamed her for what the sh00ter did, but because we blamed her for not knowing that her actions and the actions of those like her made us pause for one moment and wonder if the words led to tragic action.
How in the hell can Wasillians who know the truth about Palin, continue to hide it? How many more will die because of the deafening silence from Alaska.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you can't have it both ways. Your style of what you call passionate political debate is, according to you, apparently the true American way, the way the Founding Fathers wanted it for our Republic .... yet when journalists and pundits question your use of gun targets and your use of the phrase "taking up arms" they are reprehensible? If we try to follow your logic, are you therefore saying that these same journalist and pundits are not true Americans because they question your methods?
ReplyDeleteAnd btw Sarah, the very fact that you felt you had to explain that "taking up arms" was your way of saying "voting", then there's something very flawed in your methods. Follow Reagan's advice and take responsibility for your own actions.
Just left Huff Post and the comments coming thru are amazine.
ReplyDeleteDisplaying the flag as inappropriate - comment from several veterans
Using the words "blood libel" as Gabby is Jewish
Invoking Ronald Reagan's name - poor taste by some comments
Putting this out today in order to be in competition with our Beloved President
Use of teleprompter - hypocrisy on her part
Ghost written and her advisors are not very intelligent
Speech had a title but not in reference to victims
Political career finished - last gasps
All about Sarah
Just thought I'd pass on what others are saying.
(I mispelled AMAZING, sorry)
Earlier-
ReplyDelete"Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing" Palin tweeted from her BlackBerry.
Today-
“Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election.”
So she was for criminalizing collectively before she was against it?
We have reached a pivotal moment.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is time to stop paying attention to her. It is time to stop hanging on to her every word.
She is evil, as others have said here. The media is using her to keep us interested -- Many of the people that watch her TLC show hate her. Perhaps we need to change our strategy and finally show the media that she is not a "big draw" and should not be discussed as a serious political candidate. This can only happen if we STOP WATCHING SARAH PALIN.
It's unfortunate that Sarah Palin can't take responsibility for using the cross hairs. We all know that she used the war or at least the gun analogy as a theme for her campaign ads. Cross hairs are cross hairs. In our culture, they refer to targets, most often shooting targets. She and her marketing people know exactly what those symbols mean. This doesn't mean that Palin is responsible for Loughner's actions. But we can say that the use of imagery that suggests taking out your political opponents exacerbates and fuels the toxic political climate. She along with a whole bunch are responsible for creating a misinformed, toxic and hateful environment. I'm not an American. From the outside the political debate looks crass, emotional, uninformed, just plain nasty and not in the interest of the people. Grow up, show leadership and educate yourself.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand it anymore. She just gets worse and worse. Is she stupid or is this some anti-semitic dog whistle to her devotees. Blood Libel? oy vey!
ReplyDeleteBlood libel? SP is so insane. Blood libel is something very specific and she has no business using the term. She actually equates the claim that her rhetoric incites violence with the anti-Semitic claim that Jews murder Christian children to use their blood. Read that one again.
ReplyDeleteThe really sick part is that I doubt she even knows what blood libel is. And if someone asked her what a 'pogrom' was she would say she has her own running on TLC.
"Shrill cries of imagined insults."
ReplyDeleteClassic projection.
Jon Stewart said it well Monday night when he pointed out there's no straight line between one person's actions and all of the influences that may have come into play. That much I agree with, but if Palin is going to bother issuing a statement at all, she should issue a statement that means something. This sounded like she was absolving herself of ever crossing the line AND defending the status quo for the hateful nature of current discourse. She would have been better off staying out of this conversation rather than drawing the attention back to her.
ReplyDeleteShe will be warmly received in Israel now. She didn't want to go anyhow - too much prepatory work needed.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. I'd love to see Tina Fey impersonate this--but SNL has class and wouldn't go there when people were murdered. More than what I can say about SP.
ReplyDeleteThis woman is as fake as a $3 dollar bill. From the jump she's been nothing but an agitator. Her rhetoric has most certainly contributed to this hateful atmosphere that we are in now. Of course, she's not the only one, but she wanted to be out in the spotlight, and now she has it and she will certainly reap what she has sown. They all will. She's so busy pointing her finger at the President trying to destroy him, till everything is being turned around on her and rightly so. The old folks used to have a saying. If you dig one grave, you might as well dig two. Stick a fork in this chick cause she's done.
ReplyDeleteIf the speech writers actually found the blood libel reference instead of RAM, they may have set her up.
ReplyDeleteShe is well done, over cooked, and ready for the trash can.
Maybe if we are lucky, she will actually meet a rattlesnake. Just sayin!
Gryphen I often fail to comment either because others have said what I'm thinking or, as today, I'm simply speechless. What a load of bullshit. I could only manage 4 minutes of listening to this worthless piece of shit. Gosh, I guess I found some words!
ReplyDeleteCongresswomen Gifford had publicly complained about Palin's cross-hairs map and was looking for ways to end this terrible tone in politics, even reaching out the night before she was shot to a college.
ReplyDeletePalin took every opportunity to "go after" congresswoman Gifford in THE most hateful ways, as she did with Obama in the '08 campaign.
John McCain's staff could not stop her, even after McCain ordered her to stop her hateful speech.
Gifford's office (amongst MANY other Dems) was vandalized by gun fire immediately after the health care vote, yet Palin STILL put her on her cross-hairs map and bragged about it.
Gifford is seriously injured, a well respected judge and an innocent 9 year old child are amongst the dead, many are injured yet Palin is claiming that SHE is the victim?
Now wonder Palin quits every job she gets, perpetual victims do not last at anything.
Her TLC program helped her poll #'s go down because the more folks she her, the more they dislike her.
There is ALWAYS someone else to blame for Sarah, but considering these particular circumstances, claiming to be the victim is even WORSE than her hateful rhetoric in the first place.
Palin has just sung her swan song this time.
Visited the PeeZoo to see what they had to say about Palin's speech, everything from "brilliant" to "presidential and Reaganesque", also believing that others will be wishing they had said what Palin did before she did as she allegedly "captured the feeling of the nation" or some kind of nonsense like that. What does RAM do to these people to brainwash them? I honestly didn't think there was anyone this stupid. I know many of them are very young first time voters but not all of them. They are congratulating her for taking the wind out of Obama's sails as if the media isn't going to be watching him tonight but playing her speech instead. They picture the writers in the White House ripping up the President's speech after hearing hers! Honestly, this is all over their comments. Delusional, pathetic, brainwashed and braindead Palin groupies call her "de facto President Palin". Were there really people this enamored of her when she was in AK, Gryphen?
ReplyDeleteThese people belong next to Loughner in a mental institution.
Some Grizzly! She continues to hide behind facebook She'll be on fux today, where they'll coddle her and tell her she's the next president of the US.
ReplyDeleteAlaskans: Please let the cat out of the bag. Her stupidity is dangerous.
Now is the time.
The "blood libel" statement is her most honest and revealing moment. She is telling us who she is beneath the stage front. I never thought she would be that candid.
ReplyDeleteShe could never be direct about the arsonist that set fire to the Wasilla Bible Church. She was able to offer an apology if she was the reason for the arsonist to attack her church. She let others point the finger of blame to a specific group. In her coded way she is now implicating the murder of a child by those on the other side of her Arizona sand line. Way to go, Scarah.
I guess Sarah had her Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes moment...Anyone remember the movie A face in the crowd? It was about An Arkansas hobo becomes an overnight media sensation. But as he becomes drunk with fame and power, will he ever be exposed as the fraud he has become?
ReplyDeleteWhy, why, why is a flag in her living room?
ReplyDeleteI've seen snippets of her speech and read excerpts on various websites - I don't have the time or the inclination to spend 8 minutes of my life actually listening to her. What I see is that she's a coward firstly, once again using facebook and a recorded message. She's also insensitive and stupid. She creates new meanings for things like "don't retreat, reload" "blood libel" and so on. She has no clue. Blood libel - how offensive can you get. I live in Canada and the things that people are allowed to say under your second amendment would never be allowed in our country - not allowed or tolerated. Your country is becoming a very scary place where people can say anything they want without repercussion and roam your streets and stores "armed and dangerous".
ReplyDeleteI live in Wasilla. I know Sarah. This is not Sarah being sad. This is Sarah being furious.
ReplyDeleteI fill miss priss is odious, impious, and full of malapropisms. Why is it awl about her? She is naughty. She should become anonymous. She is too naughty. Reload the washing machine please.
ReplyDelete"Her hair is greasy, her eyebrows don't move and you can see the reflection of the teleprompter in her glasses."
ReplyDeleteAccording to Sarah, her teevee studio is only Todd and Sarah. He doesn't do hair or make up. Juanita Fuller is mothering Willow and Bristol is gone.
Palin will use anti-semitic code whenever it suits her purposes. That is how she got started in politics- she implied that her opponent, whose last name was Stein, was Jewish, even though she knew he was not.
ReplyDeletePeople concerned about her fitness for a visit to Israel should contact the Israeli Embassy.

Before Sarah Palin decided to run for the Wasilla mayor's office in 1996 against incumbent John Stein, the Palins and Steins were friends. John Stein had helped launch Palin's political career, mentoring the hockey mom during her 1994 run for City Council, along with veteran council member Nick Carney. Stein's wife, Karen Marie, went to aerobics classes with Palin.
But when she announced her candidacy for Stein's seat, vowing to overturn the city's "old boy" establishment, a different Sarah Palin emerged. "Things got very ugly," recalled Naomi Tigner, a friend of the Steins. "Sarah became very mean-spirited."
Even though Palin knew that Stein is a Protestant Christian, from a Pennsylvania Dutch background, her campaign began circulating the word that she would be "Wasilla's first Christian mayor." ...
The Palin campaign also started another vicious whisper campaign, spreading the word that Stein and his wife -- who had chosen to keep her own last name when they were married -- were not legally wed. Again, Palin knew the truth, Stein said, but chose to muddy the waters. "We actually had to produce our marriage certificate," recalled Stein, whose wife died of breast cancer in 2005 without ever reconciling with Palin.
Not. Gonna. Watch...Not. Gonna. Watch...
ReplyDeleteCrap. I watched. I'm actually embarrassed for her.
Good lord. She spends 10 seconds on the tragedy then goes right in to her rhetoric. Her voice changes. Is solemn, then goes all chipper.
Palin is here following the talking point of the far Right, "kill the messengers" rather than assess the message. Predictably, rather blatantly, she attempts to evade responsibility for her rhetoric and tries to deflect attention from her past violent imagery by publicly chastising and blaming those of us who have assessed and warned of the dangers from the barbaric rhetoric and , violent ideations (like the Rep. who said we'll use "bullets" if "ballots" fail) of many leaders the Right.
ReplyDeletePalin's lack of affect troubled me--her eyes are unemotive and her delivery is flat. The whole monlogogue is obviously a contrived piece of propaganda, as opposed to a spontaneous expression of empathy and concern. It will not remove the impression that Palin is a self-serving, shallow and irreponsible leader who is dangerously outside the limit of humane, compassionate behavior (of course she has company). In any case no one who isn't already a Palin fanatic will be taken in by this poorly executed, and in poor taste, exhibit of politcial damage control by Palin and her handlers.
Is she saying that she, Slimeball & Beck are
ReplyDeleteChristian sacrifices to the Jewish-run media?
So much for her hiding because she'd had a
face lift, or something, she looks terrible.
Gryphen I often fail to comment either because others have said what I'm thinking or, as today, I'm simply speechless. What a load of bullshit. I could only manage 4 minutes of listening to this worthless piece of shit. Gosh, I guess I found some words!
ReplyDeleteThey used to shoot it out ?????
ReplyDeleteLike in her Great Grand Fathers Day maybe LOL but hell...even lovers shot it out over women then.
What about moving forward in time and grow up Sarah Palin!
Even if your map, Fox, Glenn or Rush, or Hannity's hate had nothing to do with this....you started this hateful, name calling, gun thing...to impress the GOP men and now that that has backfired...you just need to stand up and say I quit....go back to your freedom in Alaska, fish and hunt...raise your kids, do another book and movie, make some money - give to the families of the victims and leave the lower 48 alone!
Stephanie Miller has been playing portions of the speech. The way she's reading it--that's right, see the teleprompter reflecting in her glasses?--is very strange. DH is a trained actor, and her emphasis & inflection are just weird.
ReplyDeleteShe clearly did not write this. But including the term "Blood Libel" is odd. Did her speechwriter do that deliberately to screw her over, or was it to inject yet another controversy to keep her in the news.
Gabby is lying in a hospital with half her skull removed and her brain exposed and a 9 year old is being buried this week, and this is all Screech has to say? OMFG she is clueless and finished.
ReplyDeleteWhat's interesting is the dividing effect her "Facebook speech" has had. I view it and hate her more than ever. Her rabid followers on C4Pee think it was great. Everywhere but C4Pee people are openly mocking and sneering at her, in fact, this speech seems to have really made people dislike her more.
ReplyDeleteWe would stop paying attention to her if we felt EVERYONE would stop paying attention to her. That is the problem with ignoring her; ignoring her will not make her go away, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteHer supporters are a good part of the reason it has been lucrative for these media folks to continue covering her. That part isn't going away, so the coverage will continue.
It is our duty to pay attention to her and speak the truth about her. If we don't, no one will.
Just think if she were allowed to rise, unfettered by direct questioning and thorough scrutiny. We would only have ourselves to blame if that happened, quite honestly. Those who have enabled her are happy to allow that to happen, simply to have something to talk about. It's tragic.
I can't decide which of Sarah Palin's excuses are is going to be the most memorable"
ReplyDeleteBlood Libel

Those were surveyor's symbols
Do you notice the flag behind her is "blowing"? She must be in AZ, and the air conditioner is blowing the flag. No reason for the flag to be blowing in AK in the dead of winter.
ReplyDelete"By the way, she can't "hit back." No one "hit" her. She was warned her cross-hair gun-sight map was in bad taste, could incite crazies."
ReplyDeleteWhat self-serving drivel.

ReplyDeleteThere are RW loons like Sarah in Israel and that will be another cocoon for her. The others will have to tolerate and protect her as a guest. She will be able to serve her own purpose and get the film she needs to be a foreign policy expert. She went into Haiti in helicopters. No matter the cost to Israeli citizens they can't let her be anywhere near danger. Her religious cult needs to convert all the Jewish people they can before the final blow out. She has already gone to the sands of Az and started to warn others about the line she is drawing. WTF is the purpose of her daughter being in the place where border wars are a continual topic of discussion?
Ratfish 7:38, Thank you, that story should really be brought out broadly. That is exactly how I see Sarah Palin. I hope Gryphen does a big post on it and HuffPo does a story on it with an interview with Stein. If she thinks words don't matter, show how she has a track record with her words. Blood Libel indeed. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteSo this was her attempt at a "state of the crazy" speech to preempt the president's comments in Tucson today. And she uses "dueling" and "blood" as dogwhistles. She is grotesque, and becoming more so every day
ReplyDeleteAfter a litany of other Republicans, from Roger Ailes to Ari Fleischer, suggested that calmer rhetoric is warranted in the aftermath of Tucson, Sarah Palin -- after remaining essentially silent for three days -- amped up the rhetoric in a pointed counterattack, accusing "journalists and pundits" of manufacturing a "blood libel" against her by suggesting that she somehow is to blame for the toxic political atmosphere in Arizona. Palin has just proven again that she has only one gear -- forward -- and only one mode -- attack. The 2012 presidential campaign has begun, not in Iowa or New Hampshire, but in the bloody streets of Tucson.

Perhaps the most dishonest 7 minutes I have ever listened to. Up is down and black is white. Everything she speaks about that's noble, she has done the opposite in her "career." Her voice goes from strident to breathy completely inorganically. Her head shakes side to side to emphasize positive statements. Political to the core. Underneath it all is boiling rage, divisiveness, and self-pity.
ReplyDeleteStill doesn't change my opinion on this tragic situation. Palin should be charged as an accessory to murder. She can rot in hell.

Man, I hope my husband doesn't watch this at work because his comments would most definitely be nsfw. If you see a patch of blue sky opening up in the middle of the snowstorm currently hitting the East Coast, that would be him.
ReplyDeleteJust when I think she could not be more vile & despicable, she proves me wrong once again.
To quote W. Shakespeare, her peer, "a pox on all your houses."
Worth checking out:
ReplyDeletehttp://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2011/01/palins-test.html
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first spoken words on the shootings in Tucson, Ariz. -- a lengthy denunciation of both violence and pundits who are "manufacturing a blood libel" -- was more an effort in media critique than post-tragedy reconciliation.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the immediate aftermath, the reaction to it was a bit of incredulity, shock or simple confusion. Assistant House Minority Leader James Clyburn (D-S.C.) became one of the first lawmakers to weigh in Wednesday morning.
"You know, Sarah Palin just can't seem to get it, on any front. I think that she's an attractive person, she is articulate," Clyburn said on Bill Press' radio show. "But I think intellectually, she seems not to be able to understand what's going on here."
Clyburn's comments were tame compared to the chilly reception and head-scratching that Palin's statement received on the Internet and cable, where the anti-Semitic roots of the term "blood libel" did not go unnoticed.
"Whether it was her intention or not today, she is feeding the beast of what has really been a pretty nasty ideological finger-pointing fight that we have been watching on Twitter and the Internet and on some forms of cable television," NBC News' Chuck Todd said on MSNBC.
"There was some sympathy for Palin over being tied to shooting, + she chose to go inflammatory," The Daily Beast's Howard Kurtz wrote via Twitter.
All of which should serve as a telling backdrop for President Barack Obama as he takes center stage during the memorial service for the shooting victims on Wednesday evening. Whereas the defining tone from Palin and others is one of self-defense and even victimization -- former Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle accused her critics of being "dangerous and ignorant" on Tuesday -- Obama is likely to stick with his default positions: projections of civility, calls for unity, pleas for depolarization.

"Blood libel"? Really?
ReplyDeleteLooks like her ghostwriters didn't do their research, doesn't it. Like Scarah, they embrace and sling around a phrase that they don't know the meaning of, for the sole purpose of denigrating others. Hmmm, isn't that WHY we're evening having this discussion? Looks like she'll NEVER learn!
"That woman is an idiot." - Keith Olbermann
Very odd and ominous.
ReplyDeleteThe poorly designed propaganda piece was timed to be released at midnight Alaska time on
the day of honor for the victims of the Arizona massacre.
Her staff is very set in their ways and not all of them are uneducated. They chose the words "blood libel" for a purpose. Sarah would know the messages she is sending to both the general public and those who share her beliefs.
Is Sarah trying to imply that she is Jewish?
ReplyDeleteI was just looking up "too little, too late" in the dictionary.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Sarah, shove your fetid religiosity square up your snatch because it is more than half the reason your country is in the state that it's in.
I have only one thing to say at this point: SHUT UP SARAH PALIN. GOD JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH.
ReplyDeleteOut of all this the most important thing is that she has lied about the gun sights and although she hasn't claimed they were surveyor's marks, her handlers did. This is the point that needs to keep being pursued out of this. It's her big mistake and the easiest way to continue to prove her dishonesty. She can't escape it now.
ReplyDeleteThe 'Stranger' cover picture should now become a bumper sticker and displayed all over the country. It's very high impact and will always be associated with Sarah Palin. It could be her cross to bear, and especially high impact during any election in which she chooses to run as a candidate.
Vote: Weigh in on Palin's reaction
ReplyDeleteIn a new video, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said the responsibility for the Arizona shootings rests solely with the alleged shooter and blamed “journalists and pundits” for manufacturing a “blood libel” by blaming it on political rhetoric. Do you agree with her?
http://politics.newsvine.com/_question/2011/01/12/5822380-vote-weigh-in-on-palins-reaction
Thom Hartman is on right now dissecting her speech. OMG! Find it if you can, I'm recording it.
ReplyDeleteO/T a tad...assuming one lives in Arizona or any other state with similar lack of semi-automatic, handgun laws (concealed or not)...
ReplyDeleteHow is one to protect him/herself and loved ones when a shooter/murderer/assassin, out of nowhere, leers/runs at you and shoots you point blank in the head/heart, and you have slumped to the ground dead or nearly so...call me crazy, but I really don't get it...anyone have the answer?
NRA members, please explain.
Even one of the heroes of the recent tragedy admitted the other night when being interviewed that he had a handgun - released the safety as he was running to help secure the shooter - saw the gun in a man's hand who he assumed to be the shooter; but, who was actually wrestling the shooter to the ground and had grabbed the gun away from him - ordered this man to drop the gun which he did when someone else shouted that he wasn't the shooter and that he was already on the ground - at which point this young man helped secure him - later, when the young man was asked what he would have done if the man who was holding the gun hadn't complied he very quietly said, "I would have shot him".
WOW, how bone chilling is that - and then there would have been another casualty and another family to possibly have to deal with the loss of their loved one.
God. Two minutes into it I had to quit. If she were an actor reading a script for an audition, she wouldn't get the part.
ReplyDeleteI did read her full statement, so I know what she says. I just can't listen to such fake, canned delivery, such feigned concern, and such a calculated performance.
Let alone her main point, which is "I'm the victim here."
Is this her compassionate side or a scolding?
