Beige meets Off White as Tim Pawlenty injects a little...a little...well whatever is the opposite of "excitement" into the Mitt Romney campaign.

"You're just kidding that I have to wear the magic underwear right Mitt?"
Courtesy of The New York Times:

Mr. Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota who ended his quest for the Republican nomination last month, chose Mr. Romney over Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, whom he was close to from their years serving on the Republican Governors Association.

Many of Mr. Pawlenty’s contributors and supporters had been waiting for a signal from him in the escalating contest between Mr. Romney and Mr. Perry. And Mr. Pawlenty had been looking for help in retiring a campaign debt of at least $500,000.

In a statement announcing Mr. Pawlenty as a national co-chairman of his campaign, Mr. Romney said: “Tim will be a trusted adviser as I move forward with my campaign. Tim has always been an advocate for lower taxes, reduced spending and an environment where jobs can be created. It is an honor to have him serve as co-chair to my campaign for the presidency.”

Mr. Pawlenty, in an interview Monday morning on “Fox and Friends,” said of Mr. Romney, “I believe he’s going to be our party’s nominee.”

Oh yeah, THIS is what a campaign that has a mild mannered sofa cushion for a candidate does to reinvigorate their message.  Add the guy that restless sheep count jumping into a campaign at night to help them fall asleep.

The only way that Pawlenty could possibly make the Romney campaign more interesting is if Mitt lit him on fire and pushed him into a crowd of kerosene soaked Teabaggers. (I have to admit I would probably tune in for that.)

Of course now that Tim "Micheal Bay" Pawlenty is on board, he MIGHT be able to jazz up Romney's campaign commercials, and take them from this:

To this:

After all we know how much these advertisements helped Tim Pawlenty.

Wait that didn't come out right.

Why is someone's demeanor a deciding factor in whether or not one votes for them?

Shouldn't we as fellow Americans be voting for QUALIFIED professionals with documented leadership ability? Imagine if in 2008, there was a candidate that embodied this and not a radical black man whose sole purpose was to become the first black president and an old white man who embodies old politics.

Why aren't we demanding intelligent qualified people who have shown that can lead? and who doesn't have secret motive.

More importantly, when is America going to ask the current administration to live up to its promise of transparency, ie the stimulus.

There's a ton of shady dealings that have happened in the last 3 years. It's time to start ignoring Sarah Palin and call out our government. Without media attention, Sarah Palin leaves the political spectrum. With media attention on her, Obama et al continues to get away with everything.

Sarah Palin, ironically, is Obama's bff.

Yea right -- his contributors and supporters are waiting for a signal. What - All 3 of them!!

The campaign was a half million $$ in debt out of the gate in Iowa -- basically the first whistle stop.

A half million $$ debt -- that's only what they are admitting to so you know it's much more than that.

This is where I have to say too -- that Lawrence O'Donnell has lost a huge chunk of credibility in that he was a heavy TPaw cheerleader. O'Donnell would have been better to have kept his mouth shut in that the campaign hadn't really started when he was doing numerous 'cheerleading' segments on his show.

When Pawlenty ran for governor of Minnesota he was an exciting, dynamic young newcomer. He excited the democrats as well as the Republicans. He ran Minnesota well and worked with both sides the first few years of his "govenership". I can't figure out what happened to him unless he felt he had to change to try to appeal to the extreme right rising in Minneaota as well as in the country.

Oh dear. Did he really use a restricted-use/editorial AP photograph of the US Rowing team?
    Oh dear. He did.
Are his PR/marketing people aware that you cannot use United States Olympic and national teams for advertising and political endorsements? Can't use the logos, images, etc.
Did he actually obtain permissions from USRowing, US Olympic Committee, and buy the use rights to that photograph from AP and photographer Gregory Bull?

Is one of these athletes related to him?

I'll be contacting the USOC and USRowing, as well as the athletes to find out if they are individually and as a team, endorsing this presidential candidate.

You seriously think Palin will go away without media attention?? BS. You have to pay attention at this stage to all of them since the election is in 2012.

Your planet and you I.D. No. please

    And P.S.:

Many of us have the ability to multi-task, which we do. An ability you and your ilk are devoid of.

You're statements at to 'transparency' is your 'code word' for today I assume.

In closing: You're a racist bigot. You cream you're jeans every time you see or hear Palin.

To Still Waiting, 8:09 - The real question is when are we going to stop referring to President Obama's race and acknowledge that he IS qualified, intelligent.

He could have and would have accomplished even more of this vision had Bush-Cheney not left us in such an deep mess with two wars and a crumbling economy. Bush-Cheney never even put the cost of the wars into our budget.

President Obama stopped the slide into another Great Depression and started building back jobs - even this past month, we may not have added many jobs, but our country has stopped losing them as it did under Bush-Cheney.

Both wars are coming to an end. Gays can now openly serve in the military. Women have a better chance at getting equal pay than ever before. I don't really have to enumerate all the gains we've had under President Obama do I? Do I have to mention the health care act? Gosh, Still Waiting, mos progressives want more faster, but most of us also recognize reality.

The GOP/TP and the GOP-majority on the Supreme Court have fought President Obama almost every step of the way.

People who say our President did not do anything on jobs before 2010 haven't been paying attention. At. All.

Demeanor is important. It is an outward expression of one's intelligence, passion and discipline.

President Obama shares a calmness with Romney, Huntsman, and Pawlenty but he also conveys deeper passion and commitment. He is as at home with the poor as he is with the wealthy. He can relate to and inspire all socio-economic levels.

I don't always agree with our President, but I cannot abide someone saying "he is getting away" with anything.

It may be fine for you to spout such nonsense within your own home or crowd, but it doesn't fly with most of us. We pay attention.

To everyone who thinks the jobs bill is paid for, this is pretty much impossible. Congress isn't in session. The four people assigned to raise the money haven't. FACTS people.

All five of TPaws supporters have been waiting on bated breath for their man to announce where to throw their formidable weight and deep pockets. Now they know. No surprise he threw MB under the bus is it?

Tpaw's finest moment in his campaign was his interview with Colbert. Beyond that? How would he ever live down letting the 35W bridge end up in the Mississippi River or that he left MN crippled with debt.

    Fiscally responsible? You betcha!

I don't know what Minnesota you are from , but Timmy was never anything that you describe in your post. He stripped the funding for public schools year after year. He raided protected funds, he created more and more debt while burning up a huge $$$$ surplus.
He has been anti middleclass, anti public schools,he stripped road and bridge projects, anti union, anti immigrant from day one. And he NEVER excited the solid democratic base in Minnesota, ever!
As a Paul Wellstone democrat, born and raised on the Iron Range--the stronghold of the democratic party in Minnesota. I can't imagine where you got any of your opinions.

Pawlenty turned down funding to replace both the north and south bound I35 bridges over the Mississippi and cheered about it. After Rep Jim Oberstar, along with other democrats worked long and hard to obtain the federal funding.

"The craven Chicago Tribune has pulled the Doonesbury strip from its pages this week because it contains nuggets from Joe McGinniss's new book on the real Sarah Palin. Here's the offending first instalment. Money quote:

The paper says in an A2 note that “the subject matter does not meet our standards of fairness [because] the strips include excerpts from a book that is not yet on the market and therefore unavailable for review or verification by the Tribune.”

But it's a fucking cartoon! The character featured in it is fictional. Jesus. Did they treat Palin's own delusional "Going Rogue" as if it had been fact-checked? It wasn't. But The Rogue has been fact-checked within an inch of its life."

I am from Minnesota and they are STILL trying to dig out of the mess he left things in...and when that bridge collapsed, it was the culmination of totally irresponsible cuts and cutbacks and the people who lost family members and were traumatized paid the price. So please don't peddle the sort of nonsense you are here, we like the truth. Timmy is a joke. A REALLY bad one.

You are so incredibly hilarious, Gryphen. Beige meets Off White...

People who frequent these anti-Palin blog threads, sitting on their high horses saying they don't like Palin but they don't like Obama, or anyone else...why do you bother coming here?
If you are a GOP voter, or you pride yourselves on being "Independent", just leave the Palin stuff to us. We don't need to waste our time arguing with you.

Your idea that there is some mythical person out there who would meet your standards at this point in our history - being that you can't seem to name anyone - is just talk. And boring talk at that.

    Go away.

Btw, last I noticed Obama wasn't "getting away" with much of anything, and he certainly doesn't get any credit for all that he has done. He is slammed continually, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, and he sure as hell is qualified by any standard.

"Shady dealings" are going to be around in some form or another always. Business is business, and it is cutthroat. Sad fact is that if it weren't for some corporations and businesses and Wall Street many regular folk would not have pensions in retirement. It is what it is, we can work on market regulation of course, but in the meantime stop acting like money shouldn't make the world go around. It does, and we actually need it to.

It goes without saying we also need to balance that with providing for those less fortunate and making positive change for the common good - for the middle class, in particular.

I just cannot stand empty idealism. It has no purpose. Pick a side and make a difference. Perfection doesn't exist.

Mit Romney's father was head of an auto company; he did not have to struggle to succeed. In fact, what he did was start a company that bought companies and then fired the employees. I don't think Romney is good for America. His attitude towards workers is pretty completely negative. Keep in mind that he opposed Obama's aid to the US auto companies; without that aid, which has been repaid, this country would be in dire straits.

T-Paw was very personable and good-natured on Colbert last week. He was so different than the other times that I saw him on TV. He came across as *genuinely* nice, unlike Palin, who comes across as *genuinely* nasty. I like T-Paw's personality, just don't like how the GOP insists on endangering public safety to add to fatcats' already overflowing coffers. 33. Hi Gryphen. When Romney challenged Ted Kennedy for his senate seat in 1994 it was one of the nastiest races ever. I fully expect Romney to pull out the mud slinging guns if he gets the nomination. And if Palin jumped in, I think Romney would be one of the first to "educate" people to her inability to be president.

I dunno, Gryphen... Sometimes you might be a little more cynical than you need to be. For example, you seem to be mocking the Mittens Romney campaign ad - which I didnt watch because you didnt pay me to watch it, quite frankly. And PLEASE don't remind me that I once declared that "you couldnt pay me to watch a Mittens Romney campaign ad. I was young and impetuous when I said that - But I digress.

So I have to ask, would it REALLY be so bad to get someone in the White House who truly understands and supports bicycle shorts on attractive young women? I know you're a big supporter of our president but here's a news bulletin for you: HE'S DONE NOTHING TO PROMOTE BICYCLE SHORTS FOR ATTRACTIVE YOUNG WOMEN!!!!

Im not saying I'm actually going to vote for Mittens - afterall, the long range forecast for election day 2012 is calling for a "zero percent chance of Hell freezing over" but I sure wish President Obama didnt appear to take both the attractive young female wearers of bicycle shorts as well as the admirers of attractive young female wearers of bicycle shorts for granted.
