Perhaps I was too quick to label yesterday's photo of Sarah Palin running as photoshopped.

Yesterday I posted a picture found on Gretawire of the Grizzled Mama running, that to be honest seemed very odd, which then led to many of us making the assumption that it was photoshopped.

Here let me show you the picture in question.

Now as the day unfolded numerous people rushed over here to correct my assertion that the photo appeared to have been manipulated. Other bloggers even wrote about how I had put my credibility in jeopardy by even suggesting that Sarah Palin had NOT run this race. And a few people whose opinion I respect said that they were not certain the picture was photoshopped either.

But you know sometimes I can be a real stubborn son-of-a-bitch so I was still pretty darn convinced that something hinky was going on here. But then I saw this picture:

Oh my god, what can I say?

Clearly this photo, which I am guessing was taken seconds after the first photo, shows Sarah "I am too a runner dammit!" Palin/Heath running so quickly that, not only do her feet not touch the ground, but she has just passed herself in the race. ("Laws of time and space do not apply to me, I am Sarah Palin bitchez!")

What can I say? Photos don't lie.

So let me take a moment to apologize.

First to Sarah Palin for assuming that just because she appeared virtually catatonic on Friday in Iowa, that she could NOT get herself healthy enough to place second in a half marathon, despite NOBODY in Wasilla ever seeing her running around town, nor on a treadmill at any of the gyms. Or that she would wait around for at least an hour after the race to have her picture taken with a Palin-bot (Who just happens to blog) to prove her participation.

And let me apologize to my visitors for automatically assuming that a woman who faked a pregnancy, substituted one baby for another, and whose daughter appeared on nationally televised dance contest while pregnant (Which she covered up for by claiming she was just more fit than the other contestants.), would EVER fake a marathon race.

I mean seriously, WHAT about this person would convince me to never take what she does at face value, and to always remain skeptical until I have proven to myself, without a shadow of a doubt, that we are NOT all being manipulated by somebody famous for her manipulative nature?

What was I thinking?

"So if you look at the picture of her checking her watch at the alleged finish line, the flags are blue and red. If you go to stormlakerunningclub.com and look at the proof photos the finish line flags are blue and yellow. Check it out and see what you think.

If you go to their site and click on the Events tab, you can see the flags are a different color from the ones where Sarah is supposed to be at the finish line!

I'm NOT convinced by those new photos: A Palin with not a drop of sweat on her HD spackled face crossing the finish line...and the one with the Iowa 4 pee bots(what's with that weird mouth kinda hangin open smile that's been plastered on her face?). If Rosie and Katy can do it, so can Tranny Palin.

$arah Palinator, the Master Manipulator. She has no credibility whatsever.

And if this measley half marathon is all that she has accomplished since she QUIT her elected position, then that is pretty pathetic.

Notice that she came in #2. Very significant, since that is what she is and always will be - in more ways than one.

If whoever shopped that first pic would have put Palin on the pavement to begin with, there wouldn't have been near as many questions. It looks more natural floating on the pavement than it does floating on the grass.

She must have grown 3 inches or more during the race.

Better photo shopping of the 2nd Palin.

So where did Sarah lose her red sweater and the white earmuffs under her sun visor during the race? How did she take the earmuffs/sweatband off without messing up the hair she clipped up?

Why were there no other runners even close behind when Sarah reached the finished line? You can't see any comming up from behind her.

we've seen so many paparazzi shots of celeb runners: madonna, reese witherspoon, jake gyllenhal, even bill clinton.

I would think paps would love a picture of sarah running (ugh, it hurts to even say those words out loud).

Sounds fishy to me...and this was long before the question of the photosphopped image.

But Gryphan, she is just so self effacing that she started out behind all the walkers, wearing lots of clothes in the warm weather, and then ran like a demon around them, up on the grass, deciding to compete in her age group at the last minute. And she appears to be both wearing her registration # and holding it. She's got talent.

There is just so much weird psycho crap when it comes to this person. I mean really! What the hell is going on with all this stuff?

It's almost like she is getting off on putting up fake stuff about herself. Like a shoplifter who gets a high from getting away with it and has to keep doing it. She is so twisted that it is beyond disturbing.

  17. Thank you Gryphen. I feel vindicated. After all the hullabaloo yesterday, and Mr. Munger's less than respectful post about you and your commenters, I never felt I could concede that the photo was legitimate, it looks fake to an amateurish photographer like me. Then I noticed the finish line photo (no one around just like in her one "college graduation" photo - wow, usually there are more people; snark : how many people ran that race anyway)so thank you. And for the record Sarah, Bristol, or RAM: it does not matter if you are a runner or not; in fact if you really were, maybe you would be healthier because all the runners I know (and I know a lot of them) do one thing for sure: they EAT RIGHT kind of like our First Lady advises, you know? What does matter is that you LIE, you lie, lie, lie about everything. Is anything in your sordid life true in any sense of the word? Now shut up, go away and run all you want or pretend, I do not care.

  18. LOL.Even if she did run at all, it was only 6.1 miles (and we don't know her individual time for that). I suspect she dumped water on her shirt and "jumped right in" near the end.

I'm not a photoshop expert by any means but I do know how to cut images out of pictures with that said I blew up the first picture and the one thing that stood out was the bottom of her shoes were very pixelated. Whether that was due to motion or a bad chop job I don't know.

I am a graphic artist who works with photoshop almost every day.

I had a quick look at the photo in Gryphen's original post and concluded it could very well been un-re-touched (which still doesn't mean it wasn't staged).

Photographs must always be questioned; but sometimes they don't say much.

OK, many seem to be confused here. Check this PDF of the final results, both individual and team, of the Storm Lake 1/2 Marathon:

    http://stormlakerunningclub.com/SLhalf-marathon2011.pdf

Scroll down and the first thing to look at is the 'individual' results for Women, age 40-49

Julie Marks is listed first, with a time of 1:45:05.83 for 13.1 miles. Sarah is listed second, with a time of 1:46:10.50 for 13.1 miles.

    Those are the individual results.

Then, if you scroll down further, you come to the "Team Results', where the exact same times as above are listed as a "Team".

1:45:05.83 for Julie; and 1:46:10.50 for sarah.

now look at the 'finish line' picture again; are you telling me that sarah just finished runing 13.1 miles in 1:45 but looks fresh as a daisy crossing the finish line ???

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

Ok, initially I was absolutely convinced that the photo was a fake. Today I am not as convinced, but I still think the picture looks photoshopped, I still think it's weird that the picture was initially distributed only to Palin-friendly outlets (like the owner of a 4Palin blog...whose wife just "happened" to come across Palin at the race) and also her Tweet that just thanked the city for the event, without mentioning anything at all about the race itself. The kind of Tweet that later she could claim didn't say she actually participated.

Bravo Gryphen!!! For conceding that you might have jumped too quickly on to this. Even though completely understandable.

To me, it doesn't look like she's wearing earmuffs. And the tshirt she's wearing at the end looks like it's under the redshirt.

The picture looks like it's at the crowded beginning of the race, she looks like she's going onto the grass to go around the slower walkers. It's common for runners to shed their clothing during a race. And if it's true that she ran this as a relay with another runner, then she only ran what looks like the first half. and i've known other ex-runners who could still jump in and run six miles in the excitement of a race with no recent training.

The woman has zero credibility so its natural for us to poke at this odd picture --Is nothing about this woman normal?--but i'm ready to move on.

Sarah may have run... but the running photo is a fake.

No race has walkers and runners bunched like shown in photo.

How did the runners (guy in plaid shorts and girl with blue pants with white stripe) CRASH through the walkers?

If you look close, there is a line where the runners side of photo was merged with the walker side photo.

Almost looks like they cut off nose of girl with pink headband.

What your image does make me wonder is why someone did such a poor job to begin with; they should have put her on the road instead of the grass, as the "new" Sarah appears in your image. It makes her look more in proportion to the rest of the runners.

Doing a facepalm headshake right now. How can people possibly be so dense to belive this farce? Some say it was a team event and SP and Marsh split the distance. No. They have different times. They should have started together and ran as an aggregate team very closely together as they "finished" within 2 seconds of each other. There isn't anyone around Palin at the finish. How many times does anyone run a race at this PACE and not grab their knees/sides/fall to the ground at the finish. How many times does a "team" finish within 2 seconds of each other and NOT have a mittful of photos (still or cell) shown hugging each other...oh that's because some of us really do train and run. What's interesting is that usually you'll see runners and volunteers at the water/fluids stations. Why would NO ONE recognize her at any of those stations? Oh, my bad, Sarah doesn't need fluids for 13.1 miles.

Over at Sea o Pee, there are at least three people who claim to have seen her there in person. Also, if you go to the blog of the guy who posted the second pic in your original article (the shot with the guy behind Palin giving the thumbs up) others commented on his blog claiming they too saw her there.

And the Sarah Heath listed in the results is a coincidence? I know it's hard to imagine her being humble and trying not to grandstand the event, but maybe all the media's endless commentary about that aspect of her personality finally got through? I can't explain it either, but it makes more sense than your hoax theory at this point.

Plus, while the lighting on her legs arguably looks odd, I've seen stranger artifacts in non-photoshopped images. The rest of her fits the image perfectly. And that "clipping tool artifact on her left shoe" is clearly the tread of the sole!

C'mon Gryph, don't turn into a conspiracy-paranoid drooling psycho, man. things like this discredit the REAL stories you present here.

Personally, I'm also not buying anon's wonderfully written fiction that depicts Palin as some sort of barely functional held-together-with-spit-and-duct tape mental case, either.

I do believe she's bipolar, a moron, and maybe irritable from diet pills and junk food, but as we saw, she has no problem pulling it together for public events. (do you REALLY believe "gallons of coffee and Ritalin" were employed to render her capable of giving a speech? Seriously, Anon is clearly full of shit at this point and playing on our lust for Palin gossip. I admit I'm entertained by the fantasies, but I don't believe them.)

I think the reason she didn't speak at the Sea o Pee get together was because she didn't want to try and dodge the "are you running" question right to their faces in an intimate setting like that. You know how angry the Reel Murkinz can get when they realize they've been taken advantage of.

Sorry Gryph, I generally love your coverage of $aranoia, but I think you're jumping the shark on this one...

In the finish line photo sarah does not look like a runner stopping after sprinting across the finish line. It looked contrived. Just another pose.

But, as some assert, sarah is a ¨phenomenon,¨ dammit! The ¨phenomenon¨ that is sarah is our best hope for an Olympic gold in 2012! Sarah is the best runner out there. No one is even close! Only Sarah can save our country from disgrace and bring home the Olympic gold.

Funny thing is sarah is a ¨phenomenon¨ only in ¨social media¨ and a whimper in real life.

I bet that good-looking brunette covered up her beauty, signed in as sarah and ran a blistering pace for 12 miles, then sarah ¨anchored¨ the remaining distance and hogged all the glory, as usual.

  35. Anonymous7:39 AM

Could the different flag finish lines have been used for the different races? Didn't someone yesterday say it looks like the people on the left side of the photo are participating in the 3K (or something) walk division?

Obviously you are being sarcastic here, Gryphen. Did you get someone to photoshop the double Sarah photo to prove your point? Some of us aren't up to speed on the photoshop stuff, but I think most of us agree these pictures are highly unnatural - your newest one most of all, which clearly was your intention.

For me, it's just so silly, that photo of Sarah supposedly crossing the finish line and checking her watch! What runner does that in that moment? I don't know anything about running, but aren't there people there taking times? The angle and background of that photo is suspicious also. No one is around! Also not in the photo with the woman!

I agree, she may have semi-participated, but that's not what she is attempting to present - she is using misleading/misrepresenting photos to prove she did more than she did.

    Surprise, surprise.

Compulsive liars don't just stop doing what they do best, hour to hour of every single frickin' day.

To those wondering where it came from, I first posted it here -- I'm Anonymous at 6:00 PM.

I just did it for fun. And to show how it easy it is to manipulate photos for propaganda purposes, which the running Sarah photo clearly is. I didn't even do that great of a job - I don't have Photoshop, I use a much cheaper and simpler program, and I didn't have to make it look real.

Found this explanation of how the race works on the Storm Lake running club site:-

"How does the half-marathon relay work?

Half-marathon relay teams consist of two runners. The first runner starts the race and runs 6.1 miles at which point the runner's partner continues the course and runs the remaining seven miles. The running partners will exchange bracelets at the 6.1 mile mark. Transportation is provided for the runners to get to and from the exchange points."

    -------------------------
So if Sarah started the race, wouldn't it be her partner who would be at the finish line? Has anyone answered that question yet?

I dont know where you got the second photo, but the feet thing isn't too good of a reason for deciding whether it's photoshopped or not. The guy in front with a pony tail is running similarly.

I think it would be TOO hard to fake a race that hundreds of people run.

    and now for this:

"And let me apologize to my visitors for automatically assuming that a woman who faked a pregnancy, substituted one baby for another, and whose daughter appeared on nationally televised dance contest while pregnant (Which she covered up for by claiming she was just more fit than the other contestants.), would EVER fake a marathon race."

There's still no evidence a baby swap happened, but even ignoring those first two things you mention, there is REALLY no evidence Bristol was pregnant during dwts. There is a ton of pictoral evidence she was NOT. THAT alone threatens your credibility and is what made me lose faith in this blog.

I can't speak to whether Sarah runs around town but she does run, as does Bristol. Whether it's around the property, on a home treadmill. I have a picture of both of them out running taken earlier this year.

This story is as impossible as birthgate. 1:45 for a half marathon is an extraordinary time for a 47 years of age amateur. It would require miles of training every week and she has never been seen training. She is so delusional she thinks the public is so stupid they will believe anything she says or does. That is probably a trait of a pathological liar.

  59. Anonymous8:03 AM

Well, the second photo looks like a real photo of twin Palins. Photoshopping is quite an art.

So sorry Gryphen that you seem to be the scapegoat lately. But I'm certain you are speaking from the heart - and if we find out later things that we believed are to be proven false, then we made a mistake. I think everyone's getting frustrated with the corrupt bastard's/bitches club getting away with everything for now, and tempers flare.

But the observations commenters make here are based on what we find fishy. What's wrong with studying and testing the product first? If a political product out there advertises itself as wonderful, and the price is very high, we're going to shop around and try to compare it with other similar products.

When that product keeps malfunctioning, and the manufacturer tells the buyer they are lying, but the buyer can see with his own eyes that the product is a lemon, we know that the makers of the product are trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

We shouldn't feel shamed or guilty because we discuss here in this community about our doubts on a matter. If it eventually proves us wrong then so be it. But, if we present a disaster than everybody wins.

G., please keep up the good work!!

It seems the second picture wasn't taken at the finish line. Just posed someplace along the way maybe. She has been really busy trying to deflect our conversation from Trig, Ruffles, Bristol, Tripp and Bristol's godson. And it seems to have worked for a day - maybe one more. The media will soon pick up on the staged pictures especially anyone who has ever run a race. By the way, a BANDIT (referencing another post) is one who jumps into a race without paying a registration fee. They usually drop out just before the finish so as not to mess up the results but when they DON'T, the race directors are really annoyed. LisaG, Interesting... I think she may have run the 5K because it is listed as a run/walk, while the 1/2 Marathon is a run. That probably doesn't preclude people from walking the half, but the walkers behind her in the photo are mostly elderly (her people?),and I don't think they look like the kind of folks who'd walk a 1/2 marathon. ANYBODY can run a 5K, look fakey-do fit, and have done no training at that. Surfers call that a "hodad". The finish chutes could be red/blue for the 1/2, yellow/blue for the 5K. I know it sounds like I'm defending her. I'm not, I can't stand her. The question should be not so much that she did or didn't run, but what she ran, and what she CLAIMED she ran.

    ReplyDelete
  63. The photos with the yellow/blue flags are from last year. We'll have to wait a few days for the proofs of the 2011 race are in to see what the flags look like.

I don't doubt Pain ran, but definitely not the entire thing. That photo does look weird, but it could be real (well, except for the two Palins..lol) The person running doesn't look like Palin, though. I think it could be a double. That person looks much more healthy than the photos of her at the end of the race.

BAustin: RE the fires near Austin. I'm in Oak Hill and am just a little freaked out by the fires. Someone in our neighborhood thought it a good idea to barbeque yesterday. That was a really brilliant move on their part.

I don't expect to come out of this drought unscathed. I'm totally expecting to lose everything due to the stupidity of some of my neighbors. They go outside and smoke, flicking the ashes away. Not sure what they're doing with the butts, though. Hopefully being smart about where they throw them...but I just don't know..

For me, the dead give away is that absolutely NO ONE is looking at her. This woman in red comes running at you from the side, and you don't look at her, don't move, nada. Right. She's on a collision coarse with the woman in dark clothes visible behind her.

But she will get away with it. This is why she "ran" in the race is Iowa, rather than Alaska, where enough people would recognize her to make this farce impossible.

Oh how I wish someone had seen/noticed/photgraphed something that would blow this fakery wide open. It would then call into question all of her earlier charades. But it won't happen. The country is braindead and believe anything they are told.

Oh that's easy. Remember this is $arah, who can hide her pregnancy for 7 months, hop on 2 planes after her water has broken, give birth to the same baby at Matsu and in Anchorage AND she can grow and shrink her boobs from day to day.

This creature can do everything. Why couldn't she stride right foot, then again right foot - whereas all normal two-legged people stride right foot, then left foot.

I thought about this for a while this morning. Sarah obviously staged a photo op which was pre-arranged to do one thing...generate the headline "Sarah Palin running in Iowa".

We see now that is EXACTLY what happened. At most, Sarah ran 6.5 miles...but it looks like she pulled a Rosie Ruiz. So now we have one more fake to add to the growing list...fake pregnancy, fake boobs, fake marriage , fake glasses....and on, and on, and on.

Can I jet say F John McCain again , and everyone else who falls for fake Sarahs stunts too.

Where did the second pic come from?

So, Sarah's in New Hampshire today. Or is she?
Mitt Romney made a last-minute schedule change. Now he'll be at a forum in South Carolina for top Republicans, hosted by Senator Jim DeMint, an invitation he had declined then accepted after Sarah scheduled herself for New Hampshire.

Sarah followed Romney to New Hampshire on her One Nation tour in June. She scheduled a clambake for the day Romney announced his presidential candidacy.

    In a nutshell -
    Project Palmetto Freedom Forum
Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, South Carolina. September 5, 3pm.

Invitations extended to: Minnesota U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann, Businessman Herman Cain, Former Speaker of the U.S. House Newt Gingrich, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Texas U.S. Representative Ron Paul, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

Qualified candidates had until August 24th at 5pm to confirm attendance.

    Format:
Moderator David Stanton, former news anchor.
Candidates will be on the stage one-at-a-time and will participate in a question and answer session with three panelists: U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), U.S. Representative Steve King (R-IA), and Dr. Robert P. George, founder of the American Principles Project and McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University.

Invitation-only, live broadcast by South Carolina Educational Television.

Honestly, I suspect that I'm really not missing as much of her "speech" as I'd like to...

(also, she looks NUTS...I'd say she's speaking like a jerky barely-function puppet, but I would never want lump the great Muppet gang into even the same genus as this lady...)

This photo proves that Sarah is blessed by God. The light shines more brightly on Sarah than on any of the other runners. Her bright red shirt has more light. The edge of her thigh is brightly outlined. No other runner has the same lighting as Sarah. When she enters the room or the race, it is clear that she absorbs all of the energy and the light.

Sarah may have been sprinting because she wears the same clothes in other pictures. But as for the "jump in" stuff, I think the guy with photoshop took the order literally, and dropped her in. Not in the race, but in the photo. Sarah may have been running, but not with those people.

There is another explanation. Sarah is in the back of the pack with the people who are shuffling along in their matching sweat shirts. Her feet never touched the ground. That's how she was able to pass all of the other runners to finish second. Sarah can fly.

Sarah has an light elastic something around one leg. If it is a tag, she is the only runner with one.

I'll wait for the Anonymous Writer to tell us about the race. After all, it was the writer's comments that Sarah was drugged, hardly able to function and really wasn't a runner that may have provoked Sarah into this farce to start with. The only other explanation is that the writer was right. Speed, it will make anyone a marathon (or half marathon) runner.

PS Sarah ran for an hour and then some. Not one person recognized her and took a photo along the way. Not one other runner noticed the woman in the bright red shirt pass them up. The only witnesses were the pee people. But then, they think that Sarah is already the President and some guy stole the White House from her.

"What to do? How about creating a controversy about whether I did or didn't run in a race? That would work." It always works when the Bots, media, bloggers have to rise up and protect her against evil people yelling she's a fake.

"Diane Adams told her husband that Palin started the race in the back of the pack, among the walkers, keeping a low profile for as long as possible. Then she ran around them, and took off."

That one sentence right there proves to me it was a farce. Granny P is always trying to refute something and that sentence completely "explains" the photo. if the photo was real there would be no need for explanation.

I honestly don't care if she ran the race or not, but I think her whole existence is a fake, and this certainly fits right in.

Photoshopped photo conveniently sent to Greta proving how healthy she is. One convenient photo with the founder of Iowans4Palin. Surely this person would never lie for SP and could easily be manipulated into giving an account. Or maybe Granny's people wrote the account for her and just assigned her name like they did in AK when she was Gov.

in the original fake photo here is proof it is photoshopped--lots of it:

Yes, there is a woman in green, next to her someone with white tshirt walking, then next to her woman in white shirt and pink headband has NO LEFT foot. She has a stump coming out of her short.

Also, in the front, there is a guy in red bandanna. To his left is a man in long-sleeved white shirt with grey stripe on it; that man is missing his back leg and hamstrings of his front thigh. It's not that he is taking such a wide stride that you can't see either, that would be impossible--it is that some of his leg was chopped out, there is a wheel or something where his thigh or shorts should be, some strainge black curved line.

Also the woman next to the guy in the red bandanna, you can see her hair behind his head, she is short and you can see part of her back or arm barely, but she has no legs, that's an invisible body.

Also the woman in the red shorts and black shoes with both feet together, she would fall flat on her face if she was running like that, no way for feet to be caught in same place unless she's hopping to the finish line.

Also palin is taller than all the men, and she is very short. Plus I don't think her thights are that big. So, first don't think that is actually Palin, but someone else, but also this picture was CLEARLY photoshopped, otherwise why are peole missing body parts?

It's a pitiful statement on the people's lack of intelligence when they try to defend this photo. Have they not actually looked at it?

The bottom half of her right leg has a big seam under the knee where they cut out something that wouldn't fit in the subject matter of the photo!

The top half of her is a little blurred, while the bottom half is ultra sharp and taken with a different lens.

Unlike the rest of the runners there is no shadow beneath her.

I'm certain I've seen the upper half of this photo before. Didn't the McCain group run it? It's her in Anchorage or Wasilla! I remember thinking "If her hands are so cold that she has to pull her sleeves up over them why doesn't she just wear some gloves?" Well, obviously because she wasn't going to be outside for very long, it was a photo op and they knew her hands wouldn't get that cold.

Okay, Sarah did run yesterday. A friend of mine who lives in Storm Lake ran the 5K and talked to Sarah afterwards. My friend is not a Palinbot but she said that Sarah was a lot shorter than she expected but she looked healthy. From the original photo that Gryphen posted yesterday, it is possible that Sarah is significantly brighter since she is closer to the camera. I personally don't think she ran the entire distance. The relay team has two different categories for the half marathon. In one of the categories, both members of the team run the entire distance. In the relay, the 1st runner goes for 6.1 miles and then tags off with the 2nd runner. Sarah's time is included in the category where both runners run the entire race. Since the race doesn't use chip times with a finish line mat, a runner could cut in anywhere along the course. From looking at the course map, there are at least two places where it would be really easy to cut the course short. Since Sarah had to stop to remove the red outer layer somewhere along the course she may have cut the course short. The finish line photo looks normal to me. Based on the times in the race results, no one else's finish time was within seconds of Sarah's time so it is not unusual for her to be alone as she crossed the finish line. It is a small race so gaps between runners at the finish is to be expected. It is also very normal for a runner to check their watch as they cross the finish line. I think everyone is jumping to too many conclusions regarding this unimportant race. I am very skeptical about her running 1:46:10 so I'm sure she cut out at least a mile or more from the race course.

  115. Folks - I find this whole thing SO embarrassing! The first photo is NOT Photoshopped. It looks odd because it was likely staged, as one of you noted, so that newspapers would write, "Palin is running in Iowa!" Ha ha. Nice joke.

Whether she ran the whole race or not, I haven't a clue. But the PR person behind the photo told her, no doubt, to swerve out from the pack, hence her odd position. Look very closely at the very faint shadows and you will see she has the same shadows, and same side lighting, as the rest.

The second picture was easily concocted in Photoshop by selecting Palin's image, then copy+paste+move+resize. I could do that myself in under 15 minutes. I teach this stuff, folks. Let it go – it makes us all look bad.

Did they just run through the finish line and keep on going? Nobody was curious about the famous Sarah Heath and NOBODY else got their picture with her?

People keep taking that she shared running the 1/2 marathon? So, is it clear if she ran 6.5 miles or 13? Regardless, if she RAN and it was hot and humid, where's the sweat. She was STUPID enough to wear Grey which shows when you sweat!

This is so funny and shows how tiny minded she is. She thinks it was important to do this....and everyone who knows what she is really like knows it is a big fake one way or another. As long as she is stuck with her "palinbots", it is punishment enough for her. Yuk. I hate to be small myself but, do you think that the woman with her at the finish line has actually ever walked, even a mile, in her life?!

The second photo doesn't actually refudiate the first - it could easily have been created by duplicating the figure from the first one. Does that mean the first one is genuine? Hardly, and I wouldn't put it past her to have faked the whole thing. This is the kind of stuff that will dog her until the end of time, though. How anyone could consider her to be a viable candidate for any elected office is beyond me.

Hard to believe a photo like that. Easy to believe Sarah would cheat, lie and misrepresent the truth.

But here's the thing: so what? She very well could have registered, trained and participated - but made sure to do so and create the image that put her in the best light. Which may have included "just jumping in" at the end. Because she has to win something, anything. Think of it as a consolation prize, like being runner up in a beauty pageant, only for menopausal nutcases.

Doesn't matter. She's still the same loser. And likely the same cheater, liar, quitter and grifter.

We may never know on this one.

But we do still know her true nature. The details of how she reveals - or conceals - that true nature is ultimately unimportant. Take the long view.

So just sit back and enjoy her inevitable demise as the GOP begins shredding her before marginalizing her as the irrelevant B-list celebrity she has now become. She even pissed that away.

    What a loser!

    1. Greta van Susteren published the photo of $arah running on grass, with runners on pavement as her backdrop.
    2. Greta's headline read: "Sarah is running"
    3. When the photo was first questioned, Greta claimed that it was "a joke".

  127. I know a 46 year old woman who recently ran a 1:44 half marathon. She is in superb shape--running is an integral part of her life--and she trains every day.

Sarah, on the other hand, runs a half marathon with, it would seem, no training, and breezes in at 1:46-- individual time according to the race results. That's around 8 minutes a mile. Try it sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous9:21 AM

Just back from a 10-mile run in similar weather at similar pace - trust me, I was sweatier than SP and I'm a trained, in-shape runner.

I am waiting for anyone today they saw her mid-course...I think she did a Rosie Ruiz.

    A few running facts, though;

    1) she is listed in the half marathon, not the relay. She placed 2nd in her age group there. You can drop the "she ran the relay" theme.

    2) runners often check their times as they cross the finish line. The online coach I used for my first marathons used to remind us that you'll spoil your finish photo if you do that, but it's instinct if you're running for a time goal. In Amy case, the "finish" photo doesn't look like a finish line to me...no clock, or arch or even line on the ground...could well be after exiting the chutes at the end. I reiterate, though...not sweaty enough.

    3) someone asked why she wasn't wearing the official race shirt. Wearing the shirt in the race is a sign of a newbie. It's bad juju to wear a shirt before you finish the race - i gave away the shirt from a 20k in which i collapsed at 17k and finished in an ambulance!

    4) runners often go on the sidewalk or grass in narrow areas to pass walkers or slower runners. I still think the photo looks 'shopped, but it's not am unusual thing to do.

    5) on cool days, runners often wear extra clothes to the start and shed in the early miles. The start of the Chicago Marathon (with 40k runners) looks like a Sports Authority exploded. I've shed sweatshirts, gloves, hats as far as the half marathon mark.

    6) it would be easy to get picked up midway and dropped near the finish to run in. If you were going to cheat like this, though, in order to refute (refudiate?) claims you were ill, you would endeavor not to draw added attention to yourself by placing in the age grop awards or running an unlikely fast time. In a small race, it'd be easy, also, to miscalculate what kind of time would put you out of the AG awards.

Waiting for the 2011 pictures, to see if she shows up anywhere mid-course. Meanwhile, I'm thinking how delicious it would have been to have one Gryphenista running who could pace with her for a few miles asking constantly..."quick question; where's the birth certificate." :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous9:21 AM

Also, how was she the only one finishing when she did? Was it that small of a race? That is highly unusual. And no crowd at the finish line. Bullshit.

It looks like (whether she actually ran or not), Sarah Heath entered the half-marathon, not the relay, and was 1/2 of a team:

    http://www.stormlakerunningclub.com/results.html

Under the "half marathon age category results" link, she is listed individually, and her time is listed as runner 2 of the team (Julie Marks' time is runner 2), as someone above posted.

If you look at the link for the "half marathon relay results," she is not listed, nor is Julie Marks. There was one women's age 40-49 relay team, the Elsden team.

She did not run the 5k, either, as evidenced by that link.

Bottom line of her story: She ran the full half-marathon. So when we look at the photos/facts, that's what we should be looking at.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Anonymous9:25 AM

If you were trying to run 'incognito' in a race, why on earth would you wear a shirt that bright over your gray t-shirt?

And how could people running near her not notice her since most of the other people are wearing white, gray or black?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Anonymous9:25 AM

The Rosy Ruiz of the Storm City half marathon. Can you imagine? This is clearly the starting line of the race and we see Sara full stride gliding above the grass. She ran from there then went off the course to a port a poddy, slipped behind it to her camo RV, spent the next hour and a half getting herself primped and primed, then got dropped off by the last porta-potty, came flying into the finish line in second place. How come she didn't go for the win? Because then people might start asking real questions, like who recalled running her pace? How many people from other age groups crossed at her time? The marathons, half marathons and even 10K's have a finish line camera so you can buy a photo of yourself as you cross the finish line. Where are those photo's? Wanna bet they don't exist?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Oops...take back one thing n my lengthy running post just now. I looked again at the finish photo and it does appear to be the finish line...there is a line on the ground. Once more...not sweaty enough to have run 13.1.

Sarah, the more you put this kind of stuff out, the more people will dig to expose what a liar you truly are. Oh, and according to people who are slowing coming forward to tell about your insanity, it seems people are beginning to get tired of your prima donna nastiness. They are jumping ship, one by one and no amount of money thrown at them will stop them from leaving. That must keep you and Todd up at night. Have you ever wondered how much longer you can keep Todd tied to you, even with all the money? Pretty soon, a lucrative deal will come his way to spill his guts about you along with the opportunity to have millions of his own money free of you. Might seem pretty tempting as he is bound to get tired of your craziness.

What goes around, really does go come. Pretty soon, God will lose patience with you hating on the person HE placed in the White House. President Obama has done nothing to you, yet your attacks on him are personal.

Many will watch and point as you fall from grace. It will all be by your own hand.

From Runner's World photo shoot article re: marathon time a "few years ago":

"But the most precious experience I've had running was a few summers ago when I was training for a marathon and my son Track—and I named him Track for running—would drive out in front of me and plant water bottles along the route. I felt so spoiled, like the queen of the running world to have a kid who was all cool with his pickup truck, dropping off water for me on my long runs. And he'd put a note on the bottles, saying, "Love you, Mom" and "Run hard, Mom." It was just the most precious summer of my life to have that and then to cap it off with an all-time marathon best [3:59:36]. "

Look at how big her head is compared to the lady right next to her. Just over-all Palin looks too big compared to the people around her. She is petite in real life. Also, the proportion of the thighs on that "Sarah" is much beefier than the thighs in the finish line photo.

    ReplyDelete
  159. A person's actions can be very telling. What they choose to focus on and what constitutes as important can not be overlooked. This morning's news tells me that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), an official candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, offered her own economic stimulus ideas during an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” with Bob Schieffer, http://bit.ly/n1AFZu. I may not agree with Bachmann's ideas but I appreciate the fact that she put them out there so that I can evaluate them.

Mitt Romney, campaigning in Concord NH yesterday announced that he is going to present his job-creation
    plan in Nevada on Tuesday.

Palin, not an official candidate, spoke for 40 minutes at a Tea Party rally in Iowa where she presented a
superficial summary of her ideas. Palin's big news, what she herself decided the public needed to know, was not her economic stimulus ideas or job-creation ideas, it was that she had decided, spontaneously, to run in a half-marathon in Storm Lake, Iowa. This is what is important to Palin. This is what she feels the public needs to know. The most telling of this stunt is that she entered the race under a pseudonym - but not really: using her maiden name of Sarah Heath as if nobody know that this is her. She then tweeted her

participation in the race thereby guaranteeing that her followers would know - or more importantly, that reporters would know. Photos of the event were snapped and immediately published online. It became major news. She came in second and with a great time. THIS is what is important to Sarah. It is important for her to tell everyone that she is an athlete - not that she is a politician. There are a few other things that are important to mention here. The first is the venue. Palin chose to run and publicize her participation
in a half-marathon in Storm Lake, Iowa.

The person who came in third placed 121 out of 199 runners at the Blackhills Marathon in Elk Point, SD last year. The winner placed 231 out of 992 at the Melbourne Beaches FL marathon last year. Palin placed 2 out of 9 in her age category and 23 out of 68 overall in the Storm Lake race where forty-four percent of the participants were over the age of 40. In the 40 and over age group Palin placed 12 out of 32. Taken in this context the results are certainly less impressive.

Edward Norton, Katie Holmes, & Ryan Reynolds have all run in the NYC Marathon. Norton raised over $750,000 for his run two years ago which he donated to charity. To put this in context with the Storm Lake IA marathon, in 2010 there were 45,103 finishers in the NYC marathon and 26,895 people registered for the Boston Marathon in 2011.

This publicity stunt leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Why enter under a quasi-pseudonym if you are going to advertise your participation through your Twitter account? Why invite the press (Greta certainly knew about it). Why THIS particular marathon? Why now? Why submit fraudulent information? As far as I can tell, Sarah Heath is NOT a member of the Des Moines, IA team. That alone should negate her result. Why not
enter as "Unattached" as so many others had done? Finally, one would assume that she registered on the day of the race. No advance planning for Palin. That should scare a lot of people.

Participation in the Storm Lake half-marathon tells us a lot about Palin. It tell us that it is very
important to her that the public view her as a successful athlete. It tells us that she will only
participate in safe bets with little risk. And, finally, it tells us that she is not adverse to participating in something on the basis of fraudulent representation.

What was Obama doing over the weekend. Leading the country!

Apologies if this has been posted twice. I submitted it earlier but have not see it come up in the comments.

    WAIT A DANG MOMENT!

Sarah Palin runs a half marathon which means she has been training for some time now and breezes in at 1:46. That's around 8 minutes a mile which is amazing for a 57 year old.

What has me wondering is that God fearin' Christian Sarah Palin must of been training but how does Christian Sister Sarah find time to train for marathons when Jesus lovin' Sarah Palin, according to Bristol, is too damn busy to go to church and add on top of that loving Christian mother Sarah Palin is busy raising a DS child and home schoolin' the mean tempered daughter who was kicked out of school and then Sarah has her other duties to service Tawd to keep him satisfied so he doesn't run off to prostitutes then Sarah has to keep Piper from gettin' pregnant while she stalks Romney, Bachmann and the others in the lower 48 in her bus while eatin' fried butter sticks at state fairs and bad mouthin' our POTUS.

I can understand Sarah is too damn busy for God and church, but when did Sister Sarah find time to train for a marathon and give America history lessons about Paul Revere and traveling the lower 48?

Maybe Sarah should hire a town manager like she did for itty bitty tiny Wasilla when she wa co-mayor of Wailla with Tawd?

She came in with the walkers...it didn't matter though because there were ONLY TWO in her age division.

Plus the race is on the honor system, with no checks and balances. She made an appearance at the beginning - Todd picked her up and they went to lunch - he kept the red sweater and her ear muffs. After she poured her water on her shoulders, he dropped her off at the finish line.

WHAT ... is UP ... with JOE ???

Out of the blue, he recently turned into Mr. Cranky-Pants -- slamming blogs that were helping publicize his Palin book ... criticizing commenters who'd become regular readers of his blog ... then shutting down his comments section altogether so nobody could respond to his rants.

Well, he's at it again today:

Those who think Trig's birth was a hoax are "obsessives."

And "to deny that Sarah ran 13.1 miles today in 1:45–observed doing it (sic) by hundreds who were there [his italics] –is to make yourselves appear ridiculous."

(Gee ... even if the rules seem to state pretty clearly that she could only have run half that distance ?)

He even congratulates Palin's speedy running TWICE, and both times he cites a marathon he ran over 30 years ago -- "(New York, 1978, you can look it up)" ...

    That's okay, Joe, I believe you ...

(Yeah, I believe you ... may have stopped taking your meds.)

Also, has anybody else noticed a similarity between his recent about-face on the anti-Palin blogs and his about-face on Jeffery "Fatal Vision" MacDonald's guilt ?

Anything to get the story, huh, Joe ?

It's funny ... earlier today, I was thinking how important it is that we "anti-Palinistas" all stick together ... for example, that I shouldn't let Joe's recent bizarre blog posts turn me off to buying -- and even spreading high praise to everyone I know for -- his new book ... but now ... ?

I am sure that other runners have pointed this out but.

I ran many many, like every month or more, 10Ks and some longer runs for 20 years. My bum feet can't take the pounding any more but I have been in many many runs.

Sarah didn't come in 2nd, she's too old. A teenager or 20 some took all the top men's and women's spots.

You can't run every step of even a 5K without running at least 10 to 20 miles every week. Runners notice other runners who frequent the same paths, roads, gyms etc. So who has seen Sarah running the couple of hours at least every other day it takes to be able to run 12 miles? Much less run 12 miles at something under 6 minutes a mile for each of the 12 miles.

See all those people behind Sarah? They are the walkers that make up the back or most open entry runs.
So Sarah, rather than starting at the front of the run where the people with certified competitive speeds are placed, is starting at the very back of the pack of runners, where the slow runners, like I was, start.

So assuming Sarah ran, the rest of the story is bogus.

You know, Brad, I think the whole point of this photo kerfuffle is to make the point that nothing involving Palin is honest or truthful. The picture could very well be real, but it was ONLY a momentary photo-op, not a real race photo.

Three cheers for Gryphen! My word! one photo sends Phil Munger into appoplectic fits, lifting comments and giving his editorial spin on the photo itself. What are his motives?

As for Joe, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's petting Sarah, using reverse psychology to befuddle her further off the edge. When his book comes out with what he investigated and found about her, he'll be more believeable. Nothing happens in a vacuum, he's peddling his book, and any attention is good advertising. From the tone of his blog from the beginning, he set his intent our clearly, and the fact that people are pissed because they can't give him a piece of their mind was a brilliant move.

He's free to promote the book and avoid being sucked into the Palin vortex, the plague of locusts I(palinbots) she'd send to his site. Basically, he's playing Sarah's own game against her.

I saw some hot photos of carrots and tomatos on Munger's site, and more than a passing interest in Gryphen and his blog. What are his motives? Desperate for hits? To stay relevant?

Congrats Gryphen! You're doing everyting right, and people are taking notice. Would love to see the amount of hits your site gets vs. other blogs. Come on Gryphen, brag a little, you deserve it!

Off Topic, President Obama spoke in Detroit, thousands and thousands of pro union folks were chanting "Four more Years" over and over. I'd conservatively estimate the crowd at at least nine thousand, the camera panned and it was a sea of entusiastic people, unlike the crowd Sarah usually gets.

Hope to get photos from the Obama diaries... always upliftifting to watch him.

Shayfray, that's not a white stripe on her pants. There is a line of some kind on the ground that continues all the way to her left heel. The line starts at the bump on her thigh, then closes on her calf, making it appear to be part of her body.

Her legs look much more muscular in the running photo than the finish photo.

In the running photo, there is a vertical line (hard to find at first where two photos were spliced together. The walkers and runners were two separate photos before Sarah was pasted on. Bscharlott, you should be able to spot that.

I think you're mistaking the line in the cement behind her for the outline of her leg -- look at it again.

A few comments that it was "only" 13.2, or 6.1 miles. There is nothing "only" about 13.2 or even 6.1 miles. Running that distance requires serious repetitive training. "I saw her running with bristol last summer" ain't it. I highly doubt SP trains to run any distance or that she did anything more than a cameo appearance at Storm Lake.

Also, too, I believe the socks and shoes were pasted on so they would match the ones at the finish line. If you notice the left foot, it looks very flexed. What runner would flex like that as she's about to land on that heel? I blew it up in Photoshop, and the socks appear somewhat blended with the legs. In the finish photo, the socks are sharply defined.

This was a two person 1/2 marathon- did she run the whole thing herself? If she crossed the finish line, then wouldn't her partner be the person who started the race?

Good grief Gryphen! Again it appears that you are missing the boat on this one. It's not an issue of the photo being photoshopped because it most likely is. That doesn't matter a bit. The real issue is whether or not she could have managed an 8 minute mile in her current physical condition. You know, the physical condition that you have at least judged correctly!

So now that we're closer to understanding the issue, would it be a good time to try to investigate how they got her from point A to point B, 13 miles apart, in the stated time?

Let this be a lesson in the need to have confidence in our convictions, rather than to jump to stupid conclusions that make us the laugh of the Palin supporters.

Let's just say that my suspicions came from what a little mouse told me about the reason why she wanted to keep the publicity down by using a name that wouldn't be so recognizable. You know, a little mouse that ran the race pretty close to Sarah and saw her drop back and then mysteriously appear at the finish line before the little mouse. Sort of amazing the mouse said, what a fatcat can do if you don't keep a close eye on it!

    Shayfrae-

she doesn't have a large white stripe going down her leg, it is a crack in the pavement.

I'm a graphic designer. I do lots of Photoshop work. This pic is definitely photoshopped. The shadows on Palin's legs don't match lighting of photograph. I can also see a hard edge around her body. I was skeptical about this too until I enlarged the photo here and it's plain as day.

    Shayfray:

That "white stripe" is actually a crack in the pavement adjacent to her leg where the dark edge of the crack looks as if it could be the edge of her leg and the white is the pavement between her leg and the dark crack.

Shayfray, I think there's a stripe on both sides by the knee, it's just not as visible in the finish line photo.

A 1:46 1/2 marathon is totally awesome!!!! Sarah could do all her training indoors on a treadmill.

If Sarah did this, maybe she is super! You would think all the wrinkles on her neck would really slow her down.

On the other hand, it she faked it, all legitimate runners should insist on her head on a plate!

If she lied on her app and said she was from Iowa - that is a lie, too!

    ReplyDelete
  196. Anonymous11:25 AM

Someone asked the question about how many people in Iowa are named Sarah Heath. The answer is four, listed at Zabasearch.

At another website, people are writing that Sarah's running pal, Julie Marks, just happens to have the same name as someone paid from SarahPAC. What a coincidence.

Sarah could have registered for the event, however this is what is strange. No one recognized her. Not one person on the sidelines has produced more pictures showing someone who swept into Iowa with quite a fuss swirling around her. It's not like Sarah to be part of an event where she wants to be part of the crowd, in the back.

The picture is so odd that even Main Bot Matt Drudge
didn't use it when he touted
    her feat earlier today.
Drudge has never printed a negative article or reported the usual bad Palin poll.
    Never.
So, when Matt Drudge put Palin's history making accomplishment
near the top of his page today , he didn't use the running picture.
Just a shot from Saturday's screechathon.
Now , all mention of Palin's run is mysteriously missing from Drudge.
Ron Paul is 76 and runs three miles every day.
    Perry and Romney run.
    A lot of people run , I run ,
    it doesn't make me qualified
    to be president.
It sure doesn't make Palin qualified.
Palin faked her visit to the Liberty Memorial after her last half baked bus tour.
She was outed by the Kansas City Star who unlike CNN and MSNBC
actually investigated whether she had done what she claimed to have done.
If you're going to brag about running a race-
    don't post a picture
that looks like a fake job.
BTW-The Republican candidates are getting grilled at a South Carolina forum.
No way could Palin participate in that level
    of harsh hammering
    and detailed questions.

This is so much fun! Like "Where's Waldo" or something. Where's Saranoia? What pics and antics are in store for us today? What new hysterical idiocy awaits? Us obsessives will always be watching, ready to pounce upon and rip apart her every move. Sarah, you can "run", but you sure can't hide.
