Gabrielle Giffords releases message to her constituents.

Click here to hear Gabby's message.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in a message recorded to her Southern Arizona constituents, says that she is getting better and is anxious to get back to work representing them.

“I’m getting stronger. I’m getting better,” the three-term congresswoman said in the message released today. The congresswoman also said, “I want to get back to work. Representing Arizona is my honor.”

The message, which lasts about a minute, was recorded last week in Houston, where Giffords has been undergoing rigorous rehabilitation therapy for 10 months.

I thought you could use a little Gabby Giffords to cleanse your mental palate after being subjected to the Queen of Mean. You have to know that was quite a struggle to get all of those words out, even though I think she only did them a few at a time.

I had a bad day and this recording helped me put my minuscule problems in perspective. Gabby is an inspiration.

  3. Good for Gabby. I eagerly wait the day she returns to Congress full time.

Slightly O/T, but for the first holiday season since 2008 we will not be subjected to another Sarah Palin BOOK TOUR! Too bad Sarah can't get another free trip to Aunt Pat's house in Washington State for the entire brood, boo, hoo.

As long as Sarah is relegated to the back burner at Fox News, life is good.

I agree, this is a spliced message, but nevertheless, I am delighted to hear her voice. Hers is an indomitable spirit.

I love that picture. THIS woman is a survivor and a bastion of courage and persistence...unlike the "Jizzled Princess"...

What a strong, inspirational woman she is. Amazing to see how courageous she is instead of playing the victim as some would do.

This Thanksgiving weekend we are going to a celebration for an 18-year-old friend who suffered severe brain injury in a terrible car accident the day after Thanksgiving 2010. She too is making her way back.

Keeping in touch with the progress of both of these young women has added a context to whatever is going on in my family's life. I think about both our young athlete friend and our Congresswoman and am grateful that my challenges are not as tough.

I am in awe of both of them for their courage and fortitude and I am truly grateful and thankful for the human spirit and what we can withstand.

Thanks so much for posting this, Gryphen. I am surprised that it affected me as much as it has. Even though I enjoyed the Diane Sawyer program this week...this simple audio really has me choked up.

What an incredible role model and extraordinary human being...GO GABBY !!!

Thanks, Gryphen, After the previous post, this uplifting post is most welcomed.
After all she's been though, she refuses to be a victim, and she's working hard to living a full life.
I have a long list of books on my kindle, I'm half way through Steve Job's Bio and after this, I'll most definately go directly to the Gifford's book.

Their story shows the power of love to overcome any obsticle while keeping the window of opportunity open. Seconds and minutes count in Gabby's fight for recovery, she's nothing short of a miracle and an inspiration to almost everyone who can comprehend the humanity in others (that would exclude one eternal victim flame thrower and her ilk)

Stand on your tiptoes, Gabby, and reach for the stars!!!!
