I have a confession to make.I had this little internal dialogue with myself several months back that went as follows:
"Hey Gryph, what if, by some miracle, the GOP actually win this election in 2012? Who would be the LEAST worrisome Republican candidate to win the Presidency?"
"What, are you crazy? That is the talk of spineless. candy ass Democrats, who always over think everything and lose their focus in critical moments allowing the Republicans to win ANOTHER election that the Democrats should easily walk away with! So fuck you for asking!"
"Duly noted, but what if?
"Never going to happen. But...if I had to choose, I guess Mitt Romney would be the least likely to get us into another stupid war, or further destroy our economy."
Well I was wrong!
Romney's suggestion that American soldiers be SENT ACROSS THE IRANIAN BORDER to retrieve a SPY DRONE that we sent into their airspace, makes him just as ignorant, and unqualified to be the President, as Rick Perry or Sarah "do you love your freedom?" Palin! (By the way Perry would ALSO have sent Americans into Iran to get that drone.)
We are just now ending a ten year war in Iraq, that SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN WAGED! And this didpshit would actually risk starting yet another military conflict to retrieve a piece of machinery that we were illegally using to SPY ON IRAN!
Sure I know this kind of thing is done all of the time, but if your expensive military toy ends up in the hands of the enemy, that does NOT give you the right to send armed military personnel into their country! There are no captured American personnel, like there were in China, so you simply do what the President did and say, 'Our bad. Hey would you mind giving us that drone back? We want to get back to spying on you, and we kind of need it."
That is really the only option that you should have available to you.
I USED to think that Romney was the least frightening of the Republican prospects, but adding this to what we learned about him yesterday, I am now more convinced than ever that none of these nitwits should EVER get anywhere near the White House, and that we Democrats must do EVERYTHING in our power to make sure that President Obama wins that second term.
Not to mention, all the Republican candidates are climate change deniers. Folks up near the Arctic might be particularly interested in this research just presented last week at the annual American Geophysical Union by the Arctic Methane Emergency Group:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.arctic-methane-emergency-group.org/#/dec-2011-agu/4558306797
Cause I can promise you, when obsessively cautious scientists use the word "emergency" and call for immediate international action that means, they are so scared they are peeing in their pants.
You can page through the presentation here:

Thanks Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteRecent past, I thought Romney was scary due to his flip flopping.
Also, his corporations are people, Romney is middle class, $10K bet, and much more.
Plus my state's constant shilling candidate (ex-part time governor) T.P. (Tim Pawlenty) is on his team. Probably hoping to score another government gravy train job so he can continue his leech act on the taxpayers.
Anyway, Romney (also along with others) show well how much they'll pander for the current tea crazies.
Invade Iran, okay, how about them sending their kids in first this time. Maybe Romney can put his net worth down on his war. When his money runs out, his war ends.
This is exactly what I have BEEN saying all along. Willard is only one of the SEEEMINGLY LEAST insane among them. Just because he doesn't utter inanities 24/7 doesn't mean he's any less likely than the other fools to enact dangerous and detrimental policies. He's already proven many times over that he is for the 1% at the expense of the 99%. He already stated that he would be one of those who would be willing to declare war on Iran, along with most of his rival contenders. Not to mention that he changes with the wind whenever he thinks it's expedient to do so. I didn't like him in 2008, and I like him even less in 2011 the more I learn about this unethical shape-shifter.
ReplyDeleteI would NEVER vote for an animal abuser nor a draftdodger. Of course I like honorable people, so thats why I am a registered democrat.
ReplyDeleteHuntsman may yet have his turn as frontrunner - he was enough in harmony with the Washington mindset to be Obama's Ambassador to China.
ReplyDeleteOr, next summer, to save the party, Jeb Bush may accept the nomination.
It's all part of life's rich pageant.
Mittens and Knute and Ick and all the other dipstick Republican candidates should not be allowed near the White House because none of them are capable of telling us what they would actually do. Now they're all living in some alternate Libertopian Fantasy (or maybe that should be Phantasy) universe where they can say anything they want to say because there are no consequences. The loonier, the zanier, the more narcissistic they sound to rational human beings, the better their chances of getting the nutcase Repugnicans to make them the candidate. Should any of them actually be elected and continue to cling to their delusions, they will not be able to govern because half the crap they're promising to do is illegal and the other half just will not work.
ReplyDeleteThey probably think we should have sent in the Big Red One to retrieve the U-2 from Russia and storm the prison to get Francis Gary Powers. If we'd done that we'd be living in caves, rotting away from radiation poisoning. Smart idea Mitt - what an idiot.
ReplyDeleteWe have to work harder than we have ever worked before, to make sure President Obama gets reelected.
ReplyDeleteMaking sure every Dem is 'registered' and 'voter ready', and making sure we get them to the polls. Or vote early, if that is more convenient.
He doesn't even mean it. He is just saying whatever shit he needs to get the crazy voters to pay attention to him.
ReplyDeleteHe is despicable.
Another reason Romney should never get in is that he is in thrall to Grover Norquist. He signed the pledge.
ReplyDeleteSigners of the pledge have not only given up a lot of the discretion voters have entrusted them with to a lobbyist, but they are very short-sighted. Without deficit spending, we could not have particpated in WW II. That might seem good to some, but the world might be quite a different place if we hadn't. There are other examples: the interstate highway system, etc.
If the Republicans manage to be successful in their number one endeavour, and con the American people to oust the best President they've had in decades...
ReplyDeleteI shudder to think of what they will then concentrate their efforts on doing.
I guess going back to ruining the economy, and hastening the revolution that MUST come if ALL the wealth ends up in the hands of a tiny group of 400 people.
I also wonder just what the hell Fox channel will air, when the 24/7 tirade of blaming Obama for every bad thing that happens, is no longer possible.

Joy Behar made a quick mention of Romney's 'dog on the car roof' story in the View Hot Topics today.
ReplyDeleteFYI - Tonight is Behar's last show on HLN.
Does he still have that family wagon? He could strap the drone to the top, hose off the sand, punch it and be out of there in what, 50 years? Suggest he take Cain to ride shotgun and help navigate the many, many mountains they may encounter.
ReplyDeleteThen, someone back at the drone base could push the unit's self-destruct button. Several problems solved.
I just read this hysterical sentence over in the urine pond: "We are talking about silencing our citizenry's right to descent."
ReplyDeleteTruth from the delusional at last. All they want is to sink to the very bottom. And here's me thinking they were there already.
It's almost astounding how lame and retarded the gop candidates are this cycle. Not a single candidate worth the dog shit romney hosed off his car roof. The gop is steadfastly approaching irrelevance.
ReplyDeleteThese GOP dingalings are just part of a larger picture, as we all know. They're puppets, and I'm convinced that the Fundie-Koch-Armey-Rove conglomerate (sorry if I left anyone out) is hell-bent (no pun intended) on bringing about the Apocalypse any which way they can.
ReplyDeleteWhich begs the question: are these maroons SO deluded that they believe Jaysus will come down on a beam of light amid the mushroom cloud and usher the whole crew of 'em (Queen Esther included) to the pearly gates of Heaven, where they'll be richly rewarded because they're "God's chosen people"? Or do they think they'll remain safe and sound in an exclusive underground bunker while the rest of us undeserving heathens suffer? Perhaps they're planning a gated community on the moon after they blast this planet apart?
Just askin'.
Sure, send them into Iran. What could go wrong?
ReplyDeleteThere is NO reason for President Obama to not win this upcoming election!
ReplyDeleteThe registered Rupublicans don't even like the Republicans in their primary race!
President Obama has done a substantial amount of good during his short presidency and people need to get out and vote for him. He assuredly is the most sane and experienced out there!!!
It really says something about the Republican party of the 21st century that the candidate coming out as the most rational is Ron Paul.
ReplyDeleteYou can still find lots of footage of the 2007-2008 Republican debates from when Romney, Giulianni, and McCain, et al (except Paul), were trying to out/-warmonger/-detain /-torture/-preemptively attack each other. Romney didn't hold anyone's attention very long back then, so his remarks mostly went unnoticed, and, also, too, even his crazy couldn't draw attention in that crowd, but he was as scary as any of the others - enough so to show that he was competitive on the crazy scale.

ReplyDeleteWar formally ended today.
Sarah Palin was obsessed with running for president
ReplyDeletePalin was "obsessed" with running and convinced she could win, according to one of Palin's closest advisors, who added that he was amazed by the "intensity and detail that she knew about the candidates, all the process, all the debates." She even insisted on watching all of the debates and analyzing the candidates afterwards, he said.
But Palin's White House ambitions appeared to be driven, at least in part, by a desire to protect her celebrity and guard her turf. But when her Merry Prankster road trip fell flat over the summer, Palin's presidential hopes deflated quickly.

I will work my ass off to keep this lovely family in the White House.

I find it hard to believe that there is no mechanism to remotely disable/destroy the drone should something like this happen. I believe a calculated decision was made NOT to destroy it because Iran would have twisted that into an act of aggression on their soil. Better we got caught spying - big surprise.
ReplyDeleteOT, but a solid read that challenges the Rethug myth about job creators:

Romney’s not fooling anyone when he tries to identify with poor folks. Michelle Cottle on why his missionary-in-France talk isn’t cutting it.

Oy vey. Don't let the Kiddie Pool Pee-ers read this--it'll only encourage more headsmackingly lame "Run Sarah Run" hijinx!
OT: Looks like Princess Dumbass racist slime buddy (Sheriff Joe Arpaio) maybe heading to prison. I hope they make him wear pink underwear. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2011/12/15/390264/despite-stonewalling-doj-uncovers-rampant-lawbreaking-by-sheriff-joe-arpaio/
ReplyDeleteSarah, hopefully your skank ass is next.
These assholes believe companies and drones are people.
ReplyDeleteWhat worries me most, scares me most, and has me on edge constantly is the concern that the GOP will indeed pull out a last-minute "savior" like Jeb Bush or Chris Christie because that way, there won't be enough time to properly vet them and then the party and its backers can bombard the airwaves with ads to stun the voters into compliance with their agenda.
ReplyDeleteA stealth candidate is their last hope. None of the current ones offer anything new and there isn't a clear majority (no, I don't buy Gingrich as the nominee or else I wouldn't be so worried). The GOP's basic tactics are: to lie, to tell half-truths, to dress up wolves in sheep's clothing.
A last-minute substitute would fit into that playbook all too well.
I hope the DNC is going to be ready for game changers at the last minute just in case.
I'm sure his staff is still cringing. Gee, I wonder why they think the Pres has to apologize for us and why the rest of the world thinks we are bullies??? Thanks Mittens----good move.
ReplyDeleteHuntsman has always been my best-case scenario guy should Obama lose.
ReplyDeleteRomney is just as scary as the nitwit triplets and Satan Gingrich. He is an empty suit, one of the most "finger in the wind" panderers I've ever witnessed. He will be controlled by Rove and the neocons, he will be bought and paid for by the Koch's and the rest of the destroyers of the environment and the middle class, and he will bend to Betsy Prince DeVos and the Christian zealots and their quest to end public schooling and birth control. If you think Bush was a puppet, Romney is more like a programmable robot.
They all are dangerous, just try to find a single "compassionate conservative" among them. Even Huntsman is serving up the tea these days.
We have to fight, we have to work harder than just showing up on election day. Registering people to vote is going to be monumental, and people who have never volunteered are going to have to chip in. Bang the drums, people, put on your comfortable shoes!
Somewhat OT:
ReplyDeleteSince Romney is Mormon and we've seen how the Mormon church acted in CA (Prop 8), and we now know they were involved in Romney's lie about being pro-choice, perhaps this bit of info will give some insight into the Joe Arpaio saga. I've often heard people ask, "Who supports this guy?" Well, he's sheriff of Maricopa county first off, which includes Phoenix and all its burbs, one of which is Mesa, and Mesa is the biggest Mormon stronghold outside Salt Lake City. I kid you not, their temple in Mesa would not look out of place in SLC. Coincidence? I don't know, Maricopa county is not my turf, but I've always suspected he gets a lot of Mormon support. He certainly seems not to get any Mormon opposition. There's been enough crazy things come out of Mesa to be pretty convincing that Arpaio is probably their kind of guy.
9:14 am. If you think Ron Paul is worthy, just remember his KKK origins and his son, Rand, an idiot of the first order. Also Ron Paul has had a long career in the House of Representatives where he has always complained about the federal government all the while taking advantage of federal government benefits and income. He's no better than the rest of them. I think the clown car analogy is the very best for the GOP.

Polls are for strippers, I'd eliminate corporate income tax, fake marathon run, family vacation in shrink wrapped bus ... They are saying she was SERIOUSLY thinking of running with that?
This is supposed to be a great secret revealed in Business Insider? What utter bullshit!! This is just a damage control lie to explain SarahPAC political-prick-tease extortion. Hmmm... are there people threatening to sue for being bilked???
It's going to be the crookedest election ever, or at least since 2000, when the Supremes crowned Idiot Boy. I would put nothing past these douche bags.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. Romney is committed to destroying Medicare and Social Security, cutting taxes on corporations and 1% while increasing the burden on every one else. He is ignorant and a war monger. In fact, all the GOP except Paul are pushing for war with Iran. They ignore the fact that any action against Iran and it could stop all shipping through the Strait os Hormuz. Oil prices would skyrocket, the economy would crash. Why would anyone trust a vulture capitalist??
ReplyDeleteAll those who detract from a unified effort to defeat the GOP are contributing to the destruction of the US. And remember that with 3 new conservative justices on the Supreme Court you can kiss all your rights goodbye.
I'm doing everything in my power to get out the Democratic Vote.
ReplyDeleteAll the republican candiates are dangerous, perhaps with the exception of Huntsman, but I'm confidant Obama can beat him in an election.
I just watched the republican debate and it's become a total circus. They're all attacking Gingrich while he's comparing himself to Regan and saying he's always been conservative.
When the Republicans suggest another war, they need to be asked;
ReplyDelete"...and EXACTLY how would you PAY for it?"
Here's an article which expands yesterday's story about "Bishop" Romney. He must NEVER get near national office, especially as President.
