ANCHORAGE VOTERS: The April 3 election is supposed to be certified at the April 17 Assembly meeting. But it should not be certified until an complete & independent investigation of election irregularities takes place. EVERYONE WHO CAN come to tonight’s and next Tuesday’s Assembly meetings. Loussac Library (36th & Denali), Tuesdays, April 10 & 17, 5-11 PM. Wear red, white & blue and/or American flag pins for the people who have fought and died for your right to vote. Even if you can’t make it to these Assembly meetings, write to your Assembly members and demand a through and complete independent investigation. Contact them all at wwmas@muni.org or individually here.
There were numerous incidents in the last election, which featured the controversial Proposition 5, that have raised red flags with voters.
Here are a few courtesy of Mudflats:
– There are reports of voters never receiving their absentee ballots, even though they applied for them well within the time frame.
– There are persistent rumors of a bus or busses coming from the Valley carrying people to the polls. Further investigation is required.
– There are persistent rumors from voters and poll workers recognizing folks as Valley residents who registered in Anchorage for this election. Again, a full investigation is required to determine if that is the case and if so, how many precincts are involved.
– To date, we have been given no proof that the Muni was in possession of the required number of ballots…just their word. Where are the photographs of these stacks of unused ballots?
Did you get that part about Vally folks possibly being bussed in to hijack this election? Sounds like a possibly repeat of the 2009 Summer of Hate to me.
If true this is the last straw as far as I am concerned with these ignorant fundies coming into our city and interfering with our attempts to protect the rights of our citizens.
After all do we go out to the Valley and tell them that it's not okay to stump train their livestock, or that opening a can of peaches with a shotgun is stupid, or not to teach their children that the earth is six thousand years old and that listening to NPR will turn them gay? No we don't.
Yet they feel perfectly within their rights to come into our town, or as they call it, "The place where we can poop INDOORS," and vote in our elections. Fuck that!
And that is only the tip of the voter fraud iceberg. If you can take it there are some truly unbelievably stomach turning details at the link to Mudflats and Bent Alaska.
So please Anchorage, take the time to contact your Representatives and tell them how you feel, and then if you have the time make an appearance this evening at the Loussac Library and raise a little hell. If we don't start fighting for the right to have our votes count, then only those who game the system will ever have a voice in our city, as well as in our state.
And I for one am goddamn sick and tired of it.
(I apologize to the many VERY reasonable citizens living in the Valley, I know it is not your fault that some of your neighbors are making you look bad. Trust me I feel the same every time I see that idiot from Wasilla on national television, and realize that the rest of the world is judging Alaska based on her ignorance.)
I sent a note off to the Assembly calling for an investigation. I encourage others to do so too...keeping it professional.
ReplyDeleteWell goddammit
ReplyDeleteGet outraged and boycott Wasilla !
As a Valley resident, I apologize! I'd love to vote a few (thousand) people out of our island...
ReplyDelete:) Thank-you!
DeleteThanks again for painting all of the Valley with the same broad brush dripping with hate. We really appreciate it. For someone using his blogpost to argue against the hate experienced by the GLBT folks in Anchorage you sure do exhibit the same hate against any resident of the Mat-Su Valley, including and especially Wasilla. So nice that you constantly make the assumption that the entire area is populated with nothing but crazy fundy christians and undereducated buffoons, when you know that is anything but truthful. Remember, your lower 48 readers tend to only know the Alaska that you represent in your blog, so thanks for tainting their impressions of our area.
ReplyDeleteI guess you've never bothered to look at the little "christian problem" in your own city, namely Prevo's Baptist Temple, Changepoint Church and Minnery's Alaska Family Council. These are the pied-pipers that lead the crazy Valley christians to meddle in your town's affairs. The problem begins in Anchorage; the Siren's call to arms comes from Anchorage and your religious nutbags and they lead the Valley fundies to Anchorage to do their bidding.
You would do well to take a few deep breaths and calm down before you go blasting an entire population for the misdeeds of a few. This is why the gays are discriminated against, because people are offended by the few and judge the entire population by their actions. Please don't make the same mistake, it makes you look very hypocritical and we know how much you dislike hypocrites.
You DO have a large contingent of Valley readers and we have been loyal to you even when others attack your character and reputation and call you a hack. We would appreciate the same courtesy.

Did you read his last paragraph?
DeleteWow! Maybe YOU should calm down Stinky Toy. As usual you're getting upset and bent out of shape every time someone talks about that cesspool you call home.
DeleteAnd for the record, you haven't been ALL that vocal about defending Gryphen's "character and reputation". Think about it.
I believe that the final paragraph may have not been present in the initial post, the rest of your comment confuses me, however. Oh well, I'm often confused by commenter's intentions. C'est la Vie. Just wanted to chime in, now back to vacationing.

Chill out! And then get put and change the valley! Bets sitting there bawling...in my opinion.
DeleteWe need to set up a toll booth outside Wasilla and charge them to come in to Anchorage to shop, go to shows, eat out, and VOTE. Charge them coming and going!!!
ReplyDeleteL3, how DARE you equate Mat-Su Valley memes with the horrible institutional discriminations and hate that gay people are subjected to? How DARE you?
ReplyDeleteYou give yourself away as NOT a thinking Valley resident (who have always been like Anon 6:42).
BTW Anon 8:47 I think a toll booth is an excellent idea, but I'd put it just outside Anchorage, so they could either pay the toll or leave their car at the city limits and take the bus the rest of the way. Ha, I should work for the gubmint! :)
I have thought at times, a very high fence should be built around a Wassilla and let them think they are the only people in Alaska. Now we all know Old Toad likes to build fences, Hey Todd, get busy.
