"I am the real George Zimmerman." Zimmerman launches website to make money off of the death of Trayvon Martin. Update!

Personally I find this disgusting:

On Sunday February 26th, I was involved in a life altering event which led me to become the subject of intense media coverage. As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my family and ultimately, my entire life. This website's sole purpose is to ensure my supporters they are receiving my full attention without any intermediaries.

It has come to my attention that some persons and/or entities have been collecting funds, thinly veiled as my “Defense Fund” or "Legal Fund". I cannot attest to the validity of these other websites as I have not received any funds collected, intended to support my family and I through this trying, tragic time.

I have created a Paypal account solely linked on this website as I would like to provide an avenue to thank my supporters personally and ensure that any funds provided are used only for living expenses and legal defense, in lieu of my forced inability to maintain employment. I will also personally, maintain accountability of all funds received. I reassure you, every donation is appreciated.

Sincerely,

George Zimmerman

In NO way does this seem like a smart move on Zimmerman's part.

He has already been identified in the press as a potential racist, a gun nut, and a possible murderer, adding grifter to the list just seems incredibly ignorant.

Jesus who is giving this guy advice,Tank Jones?

Of course this website launch comes on the heels of news that the shooting case will not go to the grand jury.

So what do you all think? Am I being too harsh?

Is Zimmerman simply trying to earn money for the cost of defending his case in court, or is he making money off of the death of a seventeen year old boy?

Update:

It looks like Zimmerman's attorneys have had enough. In a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon, attorneys Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner announced from Sanford, Florida that they would, at this time, not be representing George Zimmerman after losing contact with him over the weekend. His attorneys say that they do not know Zimmerman’s exact location and have no confirmation from his side that he still wants them to represent him in any possible case involving the February 26 murder of Trayvon Martin.

Both Uhrig and Sonner told reporters that they “had a good working relationship” with Zimmerman up until this weekend, at which point contact between the two parties began to deteriorate. On Monday it was revealed the Zimmerman had launched his own website where he was accepting monetary donations for his legal defense, which his attorneys revealed on Tuesday that they were not privy to beforehand.

I am beginning to think that Zimmerman is toast. And that does not break my heart one little bit.

Yep, grifting 101 as taught by baldy herself. Living expenses, wonder if that means he just put some $$ down on his own Gulfstream? Easier to fly around the states allowing shoot before you ask letting him walk down the street in black neighborhoods calling out his own name - "lock and load fella's cuz I'm coming for ya?

A bit O/T, but I was reminded since you are talking about shooting...:
One of my teabagger 'friends' sent me a very offensive post on my FB page with a picture of a gun, that said: "Due to price increase on ammo, do not expect a warning shot! Sorry, but times are hard." :/

He's making money off killing a young boy.

His site is already celebrating the defacement of a black community center. He's added an American flag (for the racist patriots, dontcha know).

No, I don't think you are Gryphen, not at all. The whole thing stinks to high heaven and somebody is giving him stupid advice.

I predict the site won't stay up for long.

In all fairness, with all the attention this case is drawing, I'm sure he's not working and he has lawyers that need to be payed. One of the reasons I think his lawyers left him was because they weren't being paid, and they already got the free publicity they wanted.

Although I too question his innocence, but beside needing a good attorney or two, he also needs a good PR firm. He at least should have thought this one out more and probably should have used a third party to collect money for him to live on and pay his lawyers. I also hope his family is helping him emotionally.

The other question we should be aware of is how all this stress is effecting his thinking. Many years ago I was in a fight for custody of my children since my ex-wife was a mental case (seriously), I learned how stress can affect you. I was fortunately wise enough that I knew I needed a psychologist and visited her once a month. Without her I have no idea how I would have manage my affairs.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous6:20 PM

He needed a psychologist before this happened. It can only be worse now. If only the police and district attorney had done their jobs in the first place, Zimmerman would have been arrested and there wouldn't be national outrage to this degree.

zimmerman is being told its good presidential politics to run as the VICTIM( you know how the blacks just own society right??)because he can get a movie deal and a book deal off the racists alone!

so florida turns into a vote for the racist obama cause only black men are racists, or the perfect white guy romney, (who to my knowledge hasnt said a word about the Martin murder)who no doubt will feed into how the whites are really the victims as the election draws closer.

thats the way i see this all playing out.

btw...in florida a grand jury is not needed here to return a bill of indictment.

i expect zimmerman to be charged with a crime but it will be the least punishable the law allows.

this is now about covering up the way the police and the elected officials in that part of florida(at least) turn a blind eye to and have covered up crimes against blacks and no doubt all minorities.

the justice dept needs to investigate but i do not believe they will get involved once zimmerman gets his token charge.

It's gonna be Marco Rubio or Nikki Haley, maybe Bobby Jindal. They are going to try to play the same thing they did in 2008, a Demographic-Targeted Candidate, but perhaps one who has a bit more gravitas than last time.

My bet is Santorum was offered a cabinet position, for which he will be incredibly unqualified.

No, from what I understand, a Grand Jury is only required (in FLA) if someone is being charged with first degree murder. He cannot be charged with that, because he did not know Trayvon, ergo he could not have been premeditating on shooting him.

      Delete
    2. AKRNHSNC12:48 PM

There is no specific length of time you must know someone in order to be charged with premeditated murder nor do you have to "know" someone in order to be charged with premeditated murder. Zimmerman could have formed the intent to murder while watching Martin walk down the street that night, imagining him as the "guy who got away" or something similar. I'm not saying this is what he did but this is how some defendants come to be charged with 1st degree murder.

If a prosecutor decides to charge someone with 1st degree murder, the defendant must be indicted first by a Grand Jury.

I hope that Zimmerman ends up doing a significant amount of time in jail for taking an innocent life. There's just no other way around it for me.

    *****

But, if it is - it is a terrible idea. If it was advised by his new attorney, will we hear of a 3rd attorney being hired, shortly?

It has those 'dog whistles' patriotism via some of the quotes and putting the American flag center stage.

The oddest bit is the topic "My Race" with a Thomas Paine quote. Let's just say, if this is his website than he is not using his "Common Sense"!

In trying to deflect the talk of him being a racist, he is just emphasizing it.

WaPo says, "Under Florida law, only first-degree murder cases must be presented before a grand jury," but the prosecutor, who has a history of being extremely tough, has other tools to hand. I wouldn't second-guess her at this point.

      YES! YES! YES!

The proceeds from the memorabilia will go towards:

“legal fees, travel expenses, and the uphill battle that lies ahead.”

Yes, many of us, are already aware of the Trayvon Martin memorabilia being sold for LEGAL FEES, and TRAVEL EXPENSES. That is an old story. You will get no outrage from me. FAIL.

George Zimmerman is still alive, and can speak for himself. George Zimmerman is acting like he’s the victim, and wants to be a fucking celebrity! George Zimmerman is grifting. Trayvon Martin’s family is not. George Zimmerman’s defenders have been going on a media blitz, making up all kinds of BULLSHIT stories! George Zimmerman’s family talks like they were there, but they don’t know shit, because they weren’t there! At least Trayvon Martin’s family, and lawyers aren’t making up all kinds of stories about what happened. Trayvon Martin’s family needs all the help they can get. Because unlike George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin doesn’t have a retired federal judge for a father, to bail him out of trouble. I have seen no ugliness coming from Trayvon Martin’s family. All the ugliness is coming from the George Zimmerman side.

Who does George Zimmerman have defending him in public? He’s got his racist S.O.B. father, who won’t even show his stupid face, a brother who hasn’t spoken to him in years, a token black guy who doesn’t even know him, and incompetent lawyers who have never even met George Zimmerman, or looked at the evidence! No matter how you spin it, George Zimmerman, stalked, and shot, and killed an unarmed 17 year-old boy. George Zimmerman is fucking guilty! Meanwhile, George Zimmerman is making up lies about having ‘shaken baby syndrome,’ and celebrating racist vandalism at a black community center, only proving that he really is a filthy, racist piece of shit, just like you! The BS is coming from George Zimmerman, and his racist apologists! FUCK OFF!

I heard Mark Geragos on Cooper Anderson (I think) discussing the case, and when asked if it was wrong for Zimmerman to facebook and start a defense fund, Geragos said he encouraged that action for some of his clients. He feels that instead of taxpayers dollars funding the defense, contributing donors can help instead.

I personally don't think it's appropriate, especially in Zimmerman's case, where he in fact did shoot and kill an unarmed innocent 17 year-old. I hope this further proves to State of FL that he is a pathetic unrepentent killer/now grifter. I can't believe this; the Martin family should not have to deal with this on top of everything else.

I think Zimmerman is a coward, like Bin Laden. He murders, then hides and sends messages via surrogates.

I also think Zimmerman is long gone, probably out of the country by now, drinking margaritas down in Peru where his mama is from, spending the website donation money.

It has been utterly sickening to read racist rants defending Zimmerman and demonizing Trayvon. This fool actually tried to apply to become a police officer at least twice but was rejected. His behavior just before, during, and even now more than a month since he killed Trayvon shows clearly why their rejection of him was justified. I understand that a psychological evaluation was conducted on him and that was at least one reason he was rejected. From the Sanford PD whose
"investigation" was a piss-poor excuse for one simply because they didn't value Trayvon's life and his ever-enabling father to his attorneys who take his word despite never having met him, along with the loons who insist on defending his indefensible act, they all have egg splattered on their collective faces.

Stand your Ground is a colloquial term that has no legal meaning and is not referenced in the law. The law says you have a right to defend yourself anywhere you are legally entitled to be.

Expected consequences of a bad law.
      ===================
The above reminded me of a comedy skit heard a few decades ago: Gallagher? Carlin?

You don't need traffic laws, just grant one pedestrian and one driver absolute power to judge and convict(kill) the other group when it does something illegal.

Jaywalk - no problem, unless the pedestrian does so in front of omnipotent driver, then POW!

Not let a pedestrian have the right of way in a crosswalk - no problem, unless onen f those crossing is the omnipotent pedestrian - then - POW!

It would work great, said the comedian, until the one day when the omnipotent pedestrian and the omnipotent driver met at the same crosswalk...

This is exactly the case of the stand your ground law - if that defense is used for George Zimmerman, then it should apply equally or more to Trayvon Martin, (even if he confronted or hit Zimmerman) unless Florida wants to argue that only gun carriers are entitled to its protections.

Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman spoke to Fox News' Sean Hannity off the record, his now-former attorneys alleged in a remarkable press conference on Tuesday.

Zimmerman has made no public appearances and given no interviews, and has lost so much contact with his lawyers that they gathered the media in Florida on Sunday to announce that they were dropping him as a client.

During that press conference, they revealed that Zimmerman had had a conversation with Hannity.

"We learned that he had contacted Sean Hannity of Fox News directly, not through us, and we believe, I can't confirm this, we believe that he spoke directly with Sean, off the record, and he's not even willing to tell us what our client told him," attorney Hal Uhrig said.

In an even stranger twist, the site Loop21 published on Tuesday what it said was an email correspondence with Zimmerman. In response to an email asking him to prove he was actually George Zimmerman, the man replied, "Certainly, You can contact Sean Hannity I spoke with him today and he confirmed my identity."

I don't know how to feel about this, frankly. I mean, clearly the guy *is* going to have problems finding a job and a place to live where people won't harass him. Not saying he deserves to, but from a pure personal survival standpoint, I can kind of understand why he's doing it.

And especially if there really are fake funds collecting money in his name, it makes some sense that he'd rather get that money himself. At least it would be going where the donors intended.

Again, I'm not validating his actions, just saying that in some sense I can understand them.

It *is* interesting that a guy who is not facing charges needs a "legal defense fund" however.

But really, his situation reminds me of what they taught us in CCW class: Do NOT pull that trigger unless you're absolutely positive you're going to die and there's no other way to escape. Because if you do, justified or not, your life will be ruined.

The problem with Zimmerman is that whether his version of the story is true or not, and which version of Zimmerman and Treyvon is true or not is, on some level, irrelevant. Zimmerman caused the event to happen by not staying away and letting the police handle it. Instead he confronted and whatever happened, happened as a direct result of that.

"justifiable" or not, he made that kid's death, and the subsequent destruction of his OWN life, happen by his own actions. He has no one to blame but himself.

It's clear though that he's gotten special treatment due to his father. The OTHER thing they taught us in CCW class is that if you even SHOW your gun to an unarmed person, you've just technically committed assault and it is within their rights to feel threatened and defend themselves. Even if Treyvon had then pulled a gun and Zimmerman shot him, Zimmerman would still be the assailant and would go to prison because HE was the one who escalated the scenario.

So, I'm really curious exactly how the "stand your ground" law works when the shooter in question pursued and then confronted an unarmed person and shot them. It seems utterly bizarre that one could instigate and create a situation and then claim they were "standing their ground".

The really sick thing is I keep flashing back to that old episode of South Park where they got around the hunting laws by saying: "it's coming right at us" before shooting...

      BINGO!

Sarah's super popular in "The Villiages", a HUGE community of retired mostly racist teabaggers. They also have "sunshine laws" that allow court cases public domain. Court TV and IN Session make a killing off of showing cases in action.

The attorney general is on GZ's case, if she can find him (big "If"), I'm sure she'll give him jail time, but grand jury in Florida will probably go on the lenient side for GZ,

      Delete
  42. No, Gryphen, you are not being too harsh. Zimmerman is a vicious liar. I wouldn't be surprised if even if charges are filed, they won't be able to find him. I think he got rid of his attorneys because he won't be able to count on a Grand Jury. Probably scared the shit out of him and his sorry, worthless family and friends.

Just heard his lawyer say that Zimmerman is probably suffering from PTDS. Poor Georgie, "under so much stress because I killed a 17 year old unarmed kid". Sounds like Palin. I'd bet that once he got the website set up and money started coming in, he's heading out of the country. He's crazy.

Poor George he is suffering from a well deserved blood label.

See if Sarah had just done her usual word salad mispronunciation misuse of the term there would have been only sardonic laughter as a repercussion.

Bullet fired at very close range entered chest and did not exit. Wanna start a pool on whether or not Georgie the manly man was using hollow point, soft lead or dumb dumbs.

Treyvon died awfully quickly, so something inside him chest got torn up big time. Either that or the bullet played pin ball with his heart arteries and lungs.

      Blood label indeed.

Gryphen, you better be careful what you say. A little known provision of the Florida "Stand Your Ground, You Gun-Toting Hero, You!" law permits ANY Florida resident who feels threatened by your blog posts to board a plane in Orlando, fly to Vancouver, change planes, fly to Sitka, rent a car, ask around, discover you don't live in Sitka, drive to Anchorage, ask around some more, track you down, confront you at gun-point and THEN kill you in obvious self-defense. And the worst part (besides you being dead, of course): the state of Florida will reimburse the 'victim' for the cost of his return flight and replace the ammunition used in your killing from Florida's well-funded Bullets for Bozos program.

And don't even get me started on Texas' proposed "First Two Are Free" law where, as long as you use a firearm, you can kill up to two people, for any reason, without any consequences, because, as the governor says so eloquently, "hey, everybody makes mistakes".

I posted on some earlier IM blog post days back, that I feel this case is going down the same road as that idiot that murdered Natalie Holloway. His father was a Judge in Holland and pulled a lot of funny crap. I seriously don't trust Zimmerman's ex-judge father and his mother who was a Court Clerk.

Wouldn't surprise me if they whisked him to someplace that the US can't touch him. The father is reported to have been at the 'scene of the crime' (Little Georgie had enough time between murdering Trayvon and the cops arrival to call Daddy) where the Police Chief and State Attorney also showed up -- late on a Sunday night.

Hmmm - who called them there? Why would some lowlife have the attention of the Police Chief and State Attorney's attendance -- late on a Sunday night if not for the 'Daddy' connection.

Police Chiefs & State Attorneys don't leave their homes 'late on a Sunday night' unless it's a policeman killed, or an elected official -- not the lowlife of a Zimmerman

Zimmerman actually refers to "this trying, TRAGIC time for HIS family"! WTF? Did he ask Palin how to turn the nation against you even faster than he had been doing? Did she give "blood libel lessons"?

The idea that Zimmerman also tries to reassure his supporters and potential donors that he'll be accountable for the money is also Palinesque. Remember her "hold me accountable" speech? We all know how well that went as she went into hiding and her staff refused to answer subpoenas. Zimmerman has proven himself to be a liar as more and more information comes forward regarding the night of the shooting. It certainly wouldn't instill in me any desire to send him money when he brought all of this upon himself, killing an innocent young man. He's absolutely shameless.

I don't know where GZ is getting his ideas from, maybe Hannity? But whoever is giving him advice is trying to send him to jail despite whatever they may be telling him.

Those who think that there are situations where you can kill an individual, and not suffer consequences, should take this shooting of Trayvon Martin with much reflection. If Zimmerman thought he was cleared a month ago, he now is reaping the consequences of his act. Im sure he full well realizes he f*@ked the pooch by not retreating when he had the chance. What do you think ?

I've got some really bad news for Travons family and all of us who had hoped that justice would prevail in this horrible incident.
I seriously doubt that the Prosecutor is going to file charges against George Zimmerman, Hear my reasoning, I've listened to the 911 tapes adnauseum , Ran the whole timeline over and over again and at best I could see Manslaughter charges being brought 1) The stand your ground law doesn't disallow Zimmerman going after someone he thought suspicious 2) From the moment Trayvon lost the call with his girlfriend until the first hearing 911 witness we don't know what occured, Only two people do and one of them is dead. 3) And if the Prosecutor did file charges the Sanford Police have botched this case so badly that any Defense Attorney worth their salt could introduce damning evidence like chain of custody , No bagging of the shooters hands, No gun shot residue testing etc etc that a guilty verdict from 12 unbiased jurors would be a reach and likely end up in a hung jury over and over again, I don't think the Prosecutor will but the state at that burden, As it stands Travons parents will have a better chance in civil court and expose the Sanford Fl Police dept as inept, I hope I'm wrong !

Not his life, his ability to laugh, see his family, hug his parents, etc. but he dares to complain about what he's lost when Trayvon Martin's parents had to bury their 17 year old son who did nothing wrong except to be seen walking while black by this racist creep.

"I am the real George Zimmerman,

This is the issue at hand, the killing of Children by adults and not the money for which this issue is being side tracked of which is so sad. This needs to stop, in other words ' MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHIT WALKS". The killing of this child is not " BULLSHIT". The focus should be let justice take it's course, and in the interim George Zimmerman and his Family should suffer during this process as The Martin Family has and will contiune to suffer, this child has been taken away from his loved ones while on this earth, and therefore Zimmerman and his family should show some remorse and not be benefiting from this event, as well as his attorneys.
