A very enterprising political blogger decided to see exactly how much the Republicans had accomplished in the area of job creation since the 2010 election. This is what he discovered:
During the 2010 mid-terms the GOP ran mainly on the platform of job creation and, as a result of such promises, the GOP gained the majority in the House of Representatives. As the new Speaker of the House, John Boehner made the welcome claim that the primary goal of the Republican Party was to increase employment in the U.S.
His exact words were:
"We're going to have a relentless focus on creating jobs."
The following, therefore, is a chronological list of legislation by the GOP beginning 2-10-2011 that I created for my own amusement. That it has reached its current imposing length, without one anecdotal citation of new employment as a result of Republican legislation, is simply shocking. Shame on these useless hypocrites.
There are those who choose to place the blame for high unemployment on Mr. Obama's shoulders, but keep in mind that it's the House that enacts legislation and controls the governmental purse-strings, not the President. The Stimulus package passed by the Democrats in 2009 helped the economy but would have been more effective if the GOP hadn't limited it to little more than a package of more useless tax breaks for the rich.
Click here to run down the list of what the GOP has actually focused on in the last year and a half. If you are anything like me it will at first have you shaking your head in dismay and then end with you screaming out your frustrations.
And don't for an instant believe anything will change either. Currently the GOP is taking the stance that nothing will get done until America eventually surrenders to their demands and elects THEM to run the country.
This is no longer politics, this is a hostage situation.
"We're going to have a relentless focus on creating jobs."
ReplyDelete"creating jobs' must be GOP code for eliminating access to birth control and abortions.
rat bastards
The GOP has given the country a National depression!
ReplyDeleteTheir lies to get elected in 2010 are stunning.
Now Palin finds a couple of tea party candidates who are up in polls and then she endorses and gives a little bump in raising cash & she is a player again.
Palin the poser is as dumb & mean as she was yesterday and the gop are liars still.
We have to help get the vote out by letting people know where to register now, not wait until Nov.
Congress is stuck & will continue to be unable to legislate laws for our Country with dumb teahardists in office with no knowledge of how government works.
Join twitter and #ConnectTheLeft list to join others with the same goal, #Obama2012
Wanted to add to my comment:
ReplyDeletePalin will never shut up & will continue to try to upset the progress of our country whatever way she can.
She's unconscionable!
Now would be a good time for all those with secrets to tell to come out with it for the sake of all.
Indeed it is, Gryphen, indeed it is.
ReplyDeleteFor example, a GOP candidate this week defined "bipartisanship" as Democrats coming over to our way of thinking. He was also the guy who said that neither conservatives or liberals should ever compromise.
How to they think attitudes like that actually allow anyone to govern for the good of the country?
The GOP/TP has lost its way in its mad desire for power and total domination. It will do anything, destroy anyone and everything in its greed to control.
Sarah Palin is the poster child for this mentality. She used her family, her faith and her state to feed her ambition. Whether she was the catalyst or simply the ultimate product of the madness only time will tell.
Doesn't matter, really. They simply don't give a damn about the country.
I just got through sending an email to Rep. Mike Coffer of CO telling him why he should be ashamed of comments he made this past weekend about our President. His ignorance and arrogance were stunning and his apology totally inadequate. However, he is just another sad copy of Sarah Palin's willful ignorance. I hope others will be telling him we are tired of this kind of hateful and ill-informed rhetoric.
The Republican Party has become irresponsible and is failing to represent the country in a civilized, competent manner. It has become a party of greed and cruelty.
Yes, they are terrorists and we are hostages, and the "war on women' is actually genocide...I truly believe they want a country run exclusively by rich white men with no morals, and that any women not pregnant and out of the job market will be raped until they ARE pregnant, and these 'accusers' will then be watched to make sure they don't "kill' their fetuses with a coat hanger. If someone had written a sci-fi novel about this America in 2012, no one would have bought it. I feel like I'm in a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteSomeone did. Read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood to see where this can lead.
DeleteThey are majorly funded by the Vatican. This is the Vatican's vision of America: church and state combined, a state church that will accept no dissenting opinions, no public education system, and no rights for women. Oh, and the pedophile priesthood will continue as usual.
Delete"This is no longer politics, this is a hostage situation."
ReplyDeleteWow! You summed up our national dilemma perfectly with this sentence. I don't tweet, but I hope those who do will take it and run.
The rethugs are political and economic terrorists. They are no different than the Taliban. They hate our country and want it destroyed. The GOP should be declared a terrorist organization and all members should be tried for sedition and treason. "Hang 'em high. I'll bring the rope." The country would be so much better off without them bringing us down.
ReplyDeleteGryph -- Thanks for the link! I've shared it with all my American FB pals, to use as a reply to their idiot conservatard relatives (and yes, it seems everyone has at least one in the family....)
ReplyDeleteYou know Congress sucks, but reading the actual list day by day is gut wrenching. Being elected to congress is a grifter's wet dream. All the benefits for life after 2 years of that kind of service??
ReplyDeleteOne of these super pacs need to focus on congress, make sure they wipe out all Republicans. We need saturated commercials showing what they are really doing...remind everyone how they lied last time to get elected. They all did, congress, senate and esp governors....they all lied about creating jobs, and this is what they are doing. The only person trying to create jobs is Obama...he doesnt control the money.
I couldn't agree more! Especially love the super pac idea.
DeleteQ: Why do politicians lie?
ReplyDeleteA: Because people believe them.
Q: Why do people believe them when the politicians lie?
A: Because the politician tells them what they want to hear - even though the politician knows its a lie.
Q: Why don't the Democrats just recite the facts when the Republicans lie?
A: Jesus Christ, fuck me with a broomstick I WISH I KNEW!!!
Tax the churches just like everyone else.

"Hostage situation" is right! And seeing the chronological list he made of the jobs creation of the GOP is just laughable. Makes me even more proud of President Obama for accomplishing so much with no support whatsoever.
