Happening now: Democrats walk out in reaction to Holder contempt charge. Update!

Attorney General Eric Holder
I am watching it now, as it happen on MSNBC.

Will update as more information comes in.

You can learn more about what a bullshit contempt charge this is by clicking here.

Update: Apparently the vote to hold the Attorney General in contempt passed, and that is why the Dems walked out.  Holder is the FIRST Attorney General to ever be held in contempt by Congress, and the only reason it received any support by some Blue Dog Democrats is because the NRA threatened to go after them and essentially place their reelections in jeopardy.

Cowards!

Update: Here is video of the Democrats after they walked out courtesy of MSNBC:

They aren't Democrats, they're assholes. Funny how Issa won't talk to the people really responsible. I hope this blows up in their faces and proves the Bush administration to be the evil, corrupt bastards that they really are.

I agree. Those Blue Dogs are so close to being Republicans anyway - they are like the faux Dems that the GOP ran in the Democratic primary in WI.

Problem is, though, if their primaries are over, then the only candidate you can donate to is probably going to be a Republican. However, in two years, those Blue Dogs should get Democratic primary opposition.

Don't donate to any GOP candidate - that's only asking for trouble because most of them now are Tea Party oriented.

Why does the Democratic Party always walk
away when they do not agree instead of staying and doing the job they are paid to do!! But then look at their leadership.
The one who was in the Senate [both state
and U.S.] always voted NO VOTE before
becoming President. I guess it just comes naturally!!!

What a bunch of bullshit! Issa needs to be strung up by his toes! He has been proven to be horribly unethical in his past and yet sits as the head of this Committee?

I'm interested in how this now works - does it have to be voted on by the Senate? Can President Obama veto? Have no clue!

Most folks know this is a trumped up charge - MSNBC - Rachel Maddow has been reporting on it for days...everyone should watch her...she gives the facts and truth! FOX and CNN do not!

And again, the Dems sell their souls to the NRA. What a sick society and a totally corrupt government you'all have.

Or at least an accurate nickname? Bullshit from Canada, for example, would be descriptive and truthful.

Dems sold a lot fewer souls than the GOP which has gone en masse to the dark side. Maybe you need to come down to the states and live here a while - I think your mind is clouded. Don't you get good psychiatric help there? I read where a lot of tea baggers are going north because they won't live in a country with socialized medicine. That'll teach them.

It's despicable that the NRA owns those blue dog democrats. They're there to serve the people not lobbyists.

  6. Here you go. I only found this on Fox news so take it with a grain of salt:

    Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa
    Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Ky.
    Rep. Mark Critz, D-Pa.
    Rep. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind.
    Rep. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y.

A total of 108 Democrats did not vote. Only one Republican did not vote. One lawmaker, Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Ill., also voted present.
    The total vote was 255-67.

Interesting - those 'blue' Dems are not names I'm even familiar with - does that mean they are of the newly elected crowd in the last election cycle? Time to vote every friggin' one of them OUT when the next election for them occurs. What assholes!

I detest our government! I'm not proud to be an American! But, I love President Obama and feel for him in putting up with all the crap he has for the past 3+ years. He will serve a second term, I have no doubt. The Repubs are screwing themselves from one end to the other!

President Obama has excelled in spite of the Repubs trying to stop him every step of the way! Yea! He is so much smarter than any of them!!!! Plus, he has a terrific sense humor which most Repubs never reflect!

Screw you, Republicans!!!! Vote them ALL out of office - nationally, state and local levels. They create nothing but trouble!

Tim Walz is my Congressman and I'm surprised he voted in favor of contempt. He's pretty liberal but has the support of a lot of veteran groups, as he served in the first Gulf War.

  7. If only people knew the truth about the NRA-that they're one of the most pernicious groups in the country. They long ago stopped representing sportsmen and hunters when the extremists took them over. They represent gun manufacturers and their job is to scare as many people as possible into buying as many guns as possible. They didn't seem to have a problem with the other 68,000 guns that made their way into Mexico from the US in the last 4 years thanks to the lax gun laws in AZ and TX because they hate gun laws of any kind. And they sure don't care about the other 30,000 who die from guns every year.

They walked out before the vote. From Daily Kos: "Scores of Democrats, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, joined the Congressional Black Caucus in walking out rather than vote on the resolution..."

All of those Blue Dogs need to go. I think we've been too even handed with them. It is one thing to be socially conservative --it is another voting a contempt charge on a democratic AG with trumped up crap. I believe in the big tent---until some of the inhabitants start burning it down around everyone else.

I'll take a tea bagger any day than a damned blue dog. At least you know on a regular basis the baggers are douches.

When I read about Issa incestigating Holder, you know what I think-- the inmates have taken over the asylum. HE -- Issa -- is an arsonist and an insurance fraud. HE should be under investigation by Holder

The NRA told members of Congress that they were going "to score" this contempt vote. Meaning that when election time came around, this was one of the votes that would be on their Scorecard and would affect their endorsements.

All because the NRA is part of the patently ridiculous, tin foil hat, conspiracy theory that F&F was set up as a way to have crazy gun wars going on on the border scaring people so President Obama could go after American's guns in his second administration.

    That's a fact.

It's time to rid the Democratic Party of these spineless Blue Dogs who care more about keeping their jobs than doing what is right and just for their constituents. The Democratic Party in their states should be recruiting solid candidates to run against them in 2014.

Holder isn't just the first Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress. He is the first Cabinet member to be held in contempt in the whole freaking history of the country.

We need to leave it all on the field this November. The stakes are too high.

The Republicans in the House of Representatives are, to a person, incredibly immature. Nothing like trying to hijack President Obama's victory in the Supreme Court by holding his Attorney General in contempt. The Republicans are the contemptible ones - every one of them is a traitor to this country.

  15. I know I have said virtually the same thing in regard to Nancy French talking about her "little black child", but my sentiment today is similar:

As a black person I am angry and disgusted.

As a human being, I am HORRIFIED.

It's Whitewater all over again. The money these people waste with their witch hunts on Democratic administrations. I believe it ultimately cost Americans $70 million dollars to pay for Ken Starr's open investigation of Bill Clinton throughout his entire presidency. How much is the Republicans' Fast and Furious investigation going to end up costing us?

You are so right! I watched a documentary awhile ago about the Clinton Administration and was shocked at the similarities of what the Repugs are doing to President Obama. It was very interesting show, I had forgotten how bad it was for the Clinton's. I remember when Hilary said it was a "right wing conspiracy" and I thought is was an over-reaction on her part. I was wrong! The repugs have lost their minds with President Obama. They will do and say anything to be in power.

    3. Check your history, hon. Did you call republicans babies when they did the same thing in 2008?
"The move mirrors a similar walk out by House Republicans in 2008 when Democrats, who then controlled the House, held a vote to hold two top Bush Administration officials in contempt of Congress."

      Ugh to you.

Jim Matheson, from Utah will not get my vote. He voted against the Affordable Health Care Act and he voted to hold Holder in contempt. I have contempt for him. We might as well as have a real Republican who believes in what they say than a pretend Democrat who knows better but does what he can to win the Republican vote.

He's been in office for too long.

This too shall pass. I have every confidence this will backfire big time. I loved the speech Nancy Pelosi made on the Capital steps. I guess the repuglicans realize their approval can't get any lower, so why not wank the NRA for political points.

Health Care Reform has started, we've got to make sure President Obama is re-elected and gets a majority Dem in both houses to move forward.
