Finally the voter registration fraud the Republicans have been warning us about is discovered to exist. Wait, which party was caught red handed? Update!

Courtesy of Salon:

A man originally reported to have been working for the Republican Party of Virginia was arrested by the Rockingham County, Va., Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and charged with attempting to destroy voter registration forms by tossing them into a dumpster behind a shopping center in Harrisonburg, Va.

“Prosecutors charged him with four counts of destruction of voter registration applications, eight counts of failing to disclose voter registration applications and one count of obstruction of justice,” according to a report late Thursday afternoon from TPM’s Ryan Reilly. More charges could be forthcoming, according to officials.

But there is more to the story, as evidence emerges to document that it ties into a still-expanding nationwide GOP Voter Registration Fraud Scandal that the BRAD BLOG first began reporting in late September, after we’d learned that the Republican Party of Florida had turned in more than 100 allegedly fraudulent and otherwise suspect voter registration forms in Palm Beach County. The story has continued to widen ever since, to a dozen Florida counties and several other states, now including Virginia, and even to the upper-echelons of the Republican Party itself.

The man arrested today was 23-year-old Colin Small of Phoenixville, Pa. As it turns out, he does not only work for the Virginia Republican Party. According to an online profile, he appears to be working for the Republican National Committee and, prior to that, served as an Intern for Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Joseph Tanfani at the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Small was “working as a supervisor as part of a registration operation in eight swing states financed by the Republican National Committee.”

That the Republican party is  responsible for the very acts that they accuse of others of doing, should not come as a surprise to ANY of us. Especially since the party has engaged in aggressive acts of voter fraud or voter suppression for over twelve years now. And in many places far longer.

In Alaska this is simply the status quo, and we have been the victim of tossed ballots, suddenly appearing absentee ballots, and voter machine vote switching for decades now. With no change in sight.

In my experience it has always been that while the Republican party is pointing to the left and saying "Look, those people are cheating!", over on the right they have been cheating all along.

I think that we are way overdue for both campaign finance reform and tougher fair election laws to be passed in this country.  But I am not holding my breath because it is clear to me that the Republicans simply do NOT want to compete on a level playing field.

Let's face it, without their mountains of money, and ability to game the system, they would have to actually run on their antiquated policies. And how can they possibly win in any place but the deep South with those?

P.S. By the way while we are on the subject of corrupt voting machines, guess whose son (Yes the same son who wants to "take a swing" at our President.) owns the ones Ohio is using?

Update: Here is a petition requesting that Eric holder to investigate Tagg's connection to the voting machines. I signed it and I think so should we all.

As you probably know Bain Capital OWNS THE ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES IN SWING STATES. BOUGHT THEM IN 2011 JUST IN TIME TO RIG THE ELECTION FOR MITTENS!

I've been thinking about this since the story broke. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy...

But it's not only that. Think of the message the GOP and Fox has been promoting since 2008 -- that people who are not "supposed" to vote are voting, thereby committing "voter fraud". So, of course voter ID laws are needed, even if they disenfranchise thousands of voters (especially those who typically vote democrat).

Now, suppose people weren't buying that? What to do... what to do...

How about tossing legitimate voter registrations in the trash, and when these dozens or hundreds of people show up to vote -- well, what do you know? Suddenly all these ineligible voters are trying to vote and OMG! they're democrats.

As much as Fox was all over ACORN, I expect this news to get just as much coverage. (yeah, right)

  4. These little twits are all over the place. During the Bush/Kerry election, a friend in Las Vegas was an election official. I’m not sure if “Dave” was clearly identified as a Democrat, but a man came up to him, stated he’d voted earlier but was unable to finish the ballot, and wanted to vote again. He was quite insistent.

“Dave” is large, and the twit was removed. It’s thought he was trying to pull an O’Keefe-style sting.

    Stay vigilant.

No wonder GOP paranoidly accuses of voter fraud = because that's what they themselves have been doing for years and years. And now Tagg Romney owns voter machines? Clearly the Romneys & corporate supporters are planning on stealing the election just in case they can't buy it!

Electronic voting machines are antique and should be nationally outlawed. They can be hacked. In my state we vote by paper and my ballot is mailed to me and all other registered voters. In the privacy of my own home and at my leisure I fill out the ballot and mail it back in with my personal signature. 1 ballot per each registered voter. This is how it should be done in EVERY STATE!

  8. I hope that whoever is investigating this finds call detail info for frequent contacts between Mister Small and Karl Rove and/or Ali Akbar. That might be step #1 in getting Citizens United reversed. Better to start BEFORE election is stolen.

WI, FL, IA, PA, VA, OH, MI are considered to be swing states or "in play" by the GOP echo chamber. ALL of these are critical states in the Electoral College and ALL have Republican Governors. IMO, the only way this election is won by Romney/Ryan is if it is stolen outright.

By the way, MI is a slam dunk for Obama (IMO) and probably a diversion by the GOP strategically to have their bagger-bloggers claim it is now in play. PA should be safe as well, although to a slightly lesser degree.

Be vigilant and vote. Do what you can to get others to the polls. A high turnout is critical.

Democratic Money Pours Into ‘Super PACs’

Three leading Democratic “super PACs” raised more money in September than in any other month this election cycle, officials said, underscoring the growing willingness of wealthy Democrats to bankroll groups whose existence they had long opposed.

Priorities USA Action, the group backing President Obama, will report raising $15.2 million in September, thanks in part to aggressive fund-raising by party leaders like former President Bill Clinton and Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago. The group has already reserved millions of dollars in advertising for the closing weeks of the campaign.

Majority PAC, which supports Senate Democrats, raised $10.4 million in September and has brought in an additional $9.7 million through mid-October, officials announced on Friday, a period during which the party’s chances of holding a majority in the chamber appeared to be improving. House Majority PAC, the Congressional Democrats’ super PAC arm, raised $5.9 million, a figure the group said it was on pace to double this month.

My mother and I had a conversation two days ago about voter fraud.I told her Republicans are so paranoid about it,and accuse us Democrats of doing it.And yet,the low percentage of actual voter fraud always seems to come from the Republican side.I told her that they accuse us of doing it,because it's what they are guilty of doing for years. Here's another case in point of my very statement.Surprised and shocked? Not for a second. On a lighter and prouder note,I am going to go and meet Sandra Fluke at our local Dem. Headquarters today in Carson City. Can't wait:)

    More Problems for Romney

One reason the Benghazi controversy has always seemed so bogus to me is that I’ve never bought the core premise, which is that the administration had any clear political reason or advantage to gain by claiming the attack was tied to the video as opposed to a pre-planned assault. (Here’s our look at how Benghazi evolved into a GOP talking point.) In addition to a great number of hacks peddling this idea, some people I respect a great deal seem to credit the idea too. But again, it doesn’t add up to me.

However that may be, the factual premise itself now seems to be coming apart. In this morning’s Washington Post, David Ignatius comes forward with new evidence suggesting that Susan Rice’s now notorious claims about the centrality of the video were pretty much verbatim from CIA talking points prepared that day for administration officials.

I have been following this story too..and it is scarey, we all know they are capable of the highest levels of deceit. Let's remember how Kerry really lost...it was Ohio, and HBO did an excellent documentary about the Diebolt scandal. Look how Fox is pimping the numbers...it is like they are clearing the way for a Robme win to seem reasonable. I so wish the government owned the software and every state used the same machines. The GOP of today is full of traitors, starting with Karl Rove...that Crossroads GPS is tax exempt, a social entity...bullshit. Cut the head of the snake off...that SOB should be in prison. Don't think for a second they wouldn't rig the votes in Ohio...just remember those evil eyes!!!

I am seriously worried that they are going to steal this election. I sure hope the Justice Dept. is looking into this and this does need to be all over the nightly news and every other news program on the broadcast networks, 'cause you know it won't be covered elsewhere except on MSNBC and maybe CNN. Election machines should be government owned and operated and they all should have a certifiable paper trail. I'm going to send a message to the White House about this when I get home from work. They're probably aware of this, but if they hear from enough of us concerned citizens...

I'm really pissed that the USA Taliban (GOP/same tea) majority in the Minnesota legislature have two constitutional amendments. Besides the one re: marriage, the other is Photo ID required for future voting.

As usual, It's Okay If Your A Republican (IOKIYAR), the USA Taliban doesn't go after criminal activity in their own GOP/same tea ranks re: voting or voter registration crimes.

Nah, they go after fictional scenarios where the reality of voter fraud has odds where one would win really big money in Powerball or Mega Millions than find actual cases of voter fraud.

Thanks for nothing Minnesota branch of the USA Taliban. Making government more restrictive. The GOP/same tea is not the party of Lincoln no matter how much they pretend they're about freedom, equality, much for everyone. They are now the new slave masters of the right, which isn't correct, yet is wrongly righteous.

The second has Colin Small in the GOP office talking to Ken Cuccinelli who just happens to be the Attorney General of Virginia. 33. This is the message I sent via the White House contact page:

    Dear Sir,
Surely you and your team have seen the reports that have come out regarding Tagg Romney's company owning the voting machines in states such as Ohio...I cannot begin to express how much that alarms me and others like me. We remember the skullduggery that went on in Ohio when Kerry challenged Bush for the Presidency. And already we have seen reports of Republican/Conservative operatives meddling with voter registration: getting rid of Democrats' registrations and other such alarming conduct. They will stop at nothing to steal this election it would appear. Our voting system must be protected and a clear record of each vote kept: a paper trail in order to keep Conservatives from stealing elections. Voting machines must be infallible if they are used at all and must be kept under government control rather than corporate (usually Republican) control. Right now we have a recipe not only for disaster, but for a coup.
    Sincerely,
    Maria Aragon
