Establishment Alaskan Republicans attempt to block Joe Miller's Teabaggers from taking over party. Hang on, need more popcorn!

New Alaska GOP Chairman Russ Millette
Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

In April of last year, a cadre of "new guard" Republicans swept into leadership positions in the Alaska Republican Party, rankling some "establishment" party folks who had perhaps become used to a certain modus operandi under the long reign of party chair Randy Ruedrich. Now, chairman-elect and constitutional conservative Russ Millette may face being unseated before ever getting to properly assume the role he was voted into last year, thanks to complaints filed against him and other new party stewards by the existing Alaska Republican Party leadership.

Joining Millette in having complaints lodged against them are vice-chair-elect Debbie Brown and two district officials. If both Millette and Brown are removed from office at a party hearing resulting from the complaints, a new election will have to be held to fill their vacant seats, effectively undoing much of the coup that was pulled off by tea party and constitutional conservative Republicans in spring of 2012.

Ruedrich himself filed the complain against Brown -- who had also served as the party's vice-chair of District 34 from her home in Kasilof -- on Jan. 2. In it, he alleges that she had failed to properly apportion funds for her district in the wake of the redistricting process that shifted Alaska's electoral maps in 2011. Additionally, Debbie Brown and her husband, Jack Brown -- who served as treasurer of the district -- are accused of failing to properly report their district's earnings and expenditures to the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

"This irresponsible management of party funds by an Alaska Republican Party leader will do material harm to the Alaska Republican Party and its fund raising capabilities," the complaint said. "With access to a bigger bank account, more egregious mismanagement is a serious concern."

Now to be clear no matter who prevails here the Alaskan GOP will remain a deeply corrupt organization, and all of this is kind of like watching Mafia members offing each other in front of a restaurant in the hope of coming out on top.

However the Joe Miller group is an entirely different, and potentially worse group, of  miscreants than the ones currently running the show.

For one thing they are connected to Miller, who is a frighteningly paranoid lunatic who believes that the job of the Republican party in Alaska is to fight the Federal government on all things, and who of course has deep ties to Sarah Palin. (Remember this idea of taking over the Republican party was originally HER idea.)

I am reasonably certain that Russ Millette is only a puppet, and that his strings are being pulled by Joe Miller, and more than likely, Sarah Palin.

No WONDER the Alaska GOP is trying so hard to keep their hands off of the Republican money!

OT Isn't it nice when someone mentions Sarah Palin on one of the Sunday morning talks shows? Colin Powell singled her out (along with John Sununu) as being the racist voices of the Republican party. What an honor.

Do you think Sarah Palin is still politically viable enough to be pulling any strings? She seems to be pretty much invisible these days.

Exactly. Sarah's days of "influence" are over in Alaska. Other than holding the folder on a few dirty secrets of a few politicians in town, in order to keep her own dirty secrets secret, she is no longer relevant or listened to in Alaska politics. I doubt Parnell even returns her phone calls right away.

What money she hasn't blown yet will be soon spent (if it isn't being already) on lawyering up to protect herself from Dairy Gate and all the other gates that are creaking open. Oh, 2013 is not going to be a fun year for Sarah.

They want to fight the "feds" on everything while at the same time suck dry all the taxpayer money they can on the feds teat. This will be VERY interesting to see what happens. Not that we don't have problems with our own politicians but I'm glad I live in a blue state! It seems Alaska is a state where anything can happen. . . yes I'll have some of that popcorn.

Gryph I'm sure you caught Meet The Press this morning with Colin Powell:

While not mentioning former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu by name, Powell referenced past comments from each about Obama as evidence of racism in the party.

“When I see a former governor say the president is ‘shuckin’ and jivin’,’ that’s a racial-era slave term,” Powell said. Palin used the term to describe Obama’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

“When I see another former governor after the president’s first debate where he didn’t do very well say that the president was ‘lazy,’” Powell continued. “He didn’t say he was slow, he was tired, he didn’t do so well, he said he was lazy. Now it may not mean anything to most Americans, but to those of us who are African Americans, the second word is “shiftless,” and then there’s a third word that goes along with it.”

This morning : Colin Powell he slammed Sarah Palin‘s “shuck and jive” comments from last year about President Obama and criticized Republican’s use of the word “lazy” to describe the president.

I can't help but laugh my ass off to think of Sarah being responsible for the intellectual heft required for these maneuvers.

No, actually, as of today, Sarah is a lackey, although at one point, she had the right folks fooled to put her in front of the group.

But the smartest one amongst a group of certified idiots is still not very bright. That's what makes observing the rapid descent of Sarah Palin & her grifting klan so entertaining. Every new episode is such a massive fail. It's like the Keystone Kops. They can't decide which direction they're going nor what they are going to do when they get there.

    This is beyond hilarious.

¨...all of this is kind of like watching Mafia members offing each other in front of a restaurant in the hope of coming out on top.¨

    LMAO! LMAO! LMAO!

That is the funniest analogy I´ve read all week.

    And I´m a Republican!

(The good kind, you know, the kind that still believes in my country, still believes in my government, and still believes in supporting my President.)

You won't be solving problems by handing out assault weapons to the crazies?

Believe it or not, 12:03, there are many conservatives who do not live in fear, and who do not believe putting more guns in our schools is a solution. Instead, we believe armed guards turn our schoolyards into combat zones. Seriously, WTF, NRA?

You and I are the same.

Together we will join the rest of the world and elect the next female POTUS.

Not to quibble about semantics, but the 'next' female POTUS will actually be the first female POTUS. But I'm with ya there.

Gryphen: Slightly o/t but speakin of Republicans: Colin Powell slammed $creech Paylin today on Meet the Press saying:

"When I see a former governor say that the president is 'shuckin' and jivin'.' That's a racial-era slave term," Powell said, referring to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin using the term to describe Obama's response to the attacks in Libya.

The story is flying around the media. BWahahahahh

The story is flying and Sarah is only doing re-runs. Not the ones where she says the same thing over and over. But old tapes of her get slight time at Fox.

Now you know she is in severe trouble to retreat as a wimp. She can't even lie about a reload.

She really is a goner. And poor pitiful Todd in that loaded jammy magazine cover. The golden child can't even rescue the old folk this time. The family is the laughing stock of the world. Old grampy Chuck has been a known perv. In the last few days his wife has made a fool of herself with the picture she asked for. I am even hearing some bad news about the brother. It is the end but they will no doubt find some way to scam opm.

Mr G: You asked earlier about what questions we wanted to ask Bill. Here are mine (use as you see fit):

--Do you have proof that SP was not pregnant with Trig?
--Do you think there is an all-around better charge that would sink SP and her pals so they stay out of the political dialogue?
--What do you think SP's worst crime was? Do you have proof of it?
--Is there a MSM blackout on discussing SP's many failings, to your knowledge? Where does the blackout authority/enforcement come from?
--What is the one most important thing you would tell us re SP?
--Why do you think the RNC lets her survive?
