"If there's just one thing we can do to keep one father from having to bury his child, isn't that worth fighting for?" President Obama's must see speech yesterday in Connecticut.

I think the next time Chris Matthews suggests that President Obama has not taken the lead on trying to pass gun legislation somebody should slap him upside his head.

To answer the qu in your headline: "not if it means gun people's profits are reduced." In practical terms, after all the bafflegab, that is what I hear. What prevails.

OT Hey, Gryphen, what can you tell us about Jan Morrow, the mother of a DS son who is mentioned in Sarah Palin's Facebook post? She is supposed to have been such an inspiration to Palin, but she is not in "Going Rogue." Maybe you know some folks in Wasilla who can fill us in on this inspiring person.

Every fucking American I know, liberal and conservative, is for making what happened at Sandy Hook more difficult.

    Mister President!

    You have a green light.

    Full speed ahead!

    O/T From SP's Facebook

This photo is from THIS MORNING in Wasilla! Tons of new snow. Tons. My sister Molly took this photo of her grill and emailed me: “Looks like I took the grill out of the shed too early again this spring!” Is it any wonder the family is excited to go to Arizona this week for Willow’s graduation as she embarks on a new career as a small business owner? And in honor of Willow's accomplishment we wanted to do something charitable. So, we'll join Gov. Brewer for the “Hope & A Future’s Strikeout Child Abuse Walk” in Phoenix on Saturday at 3pm.

And here's a pic from March of the "small business owner" compliments of Penrose Academy:

Will Willow's baby be at the Graduation? Have any of the Palins attended their own High School Graduation? Willow, small business owner? Who will read and write and calculate her business forms and tax forms? What a joke. Sarah is always trying to make her Dysfunctional Family look intelligent. Willow was away from 'HAIR SCHOOL' more than she was there.

Isn't about time 'Chick-Fil-Lady' stops telegraphing every move her family makes? That would be the"charitable" thing to do...

Maybe Sarah is enrolled at Penrose Academy too -- she's wearing their insignia in this pic. Or maybe she thought the "P" stood for Palin.

There was this hideous troll, a realtor in Galvaston, TX, who would hit every gun control Obama Tweet with Sarah-Palin-Bagger style maturity.

It was easy enough to track her down to her employer and submit a comment on their website that her views (directly tying her to the co.) wasn't good for their image - unless they agreed with her.

I'm sure she howled about her 1st Amendment rights, but in less than 12 hours, she deleted her Twitter account.

Like Sarah Palin says, there should be consequences for bad behavior. I'm truly pleased to have shut that woman up. Mind you, she is free to create a alter-ego and go on with her merry Obummer vitriol, but I'm glad that business did the right thing.

As for the 60 Minutes piece about the Newtown parents, CT Governor Malloy's efforts to tighten gun restrictions and the Washington debate, we can't let them get away with making gun statistics a dirty little secret anymore. We regulate all consumer goods, guns fall under the need for monitoring and safety - gun manufacturers don't make these products as a 2nd Amendment duty, it's a profit driven industry. Hold them, and their representative organizations accountable for how unsafe their product, hobby or vice is.

Here's another 4 year old that got a hold of a gun and accidentally shot his 6 year old neighbor in the head last night.

    1. David Waldman has been Tweeting about daily shootings all over the USA, and it's frightening how many involve small children and careless gun owners.

When small children shoot people with their guns belonging to one or both parents, the parent/s should spend a long period of time in prison. It is as if the parent pulled the trigger. Such outrageous irresponsibility.

    O/T Great article -- "The Chick-Fil-Lady"

Either Sarah Palin is seriously considering a return to electoral politics, or she’s satisfied with her continued role as a psychobomb lurking on the fringes of the discourse, occasionally popping off a new geyser of insanity every now and then just to see how everyone else, specifically liberals, will react. I suppose we could apply either motive to her eulogy of Margaret Thatcher in The National Review, titled “The Grocer’s Daughter,” but one thing’s for sure: it was a screed that was almost entirely about Palin herself than a tribute to Thatcher — not surprising given Palin’s notorious reputation as, among other things, a narcissistic self-promoter and national instigator.

In fact, the essay (clearly ghost-written) reads like one of those awkward confessions that begin with, “I have this, um, friend and, errr, no one understands me — I mean, my friend. Not me. Did I say ‘me?’” In just about every paragraph about the late former British Prime Minister, we could easily substitute the pronouns and proper names with Palin-specific names and pronouns. She was clearly using Thatcher’s death as a means of comparing herself to Thatcher for her own weirdo, grifter motives, which appear to include setting herself up to be The Next Thatcher. The Iron Punchline. The Chick-Fil-Lady. Put another way, Palin basically wrote that she and Thatcher are the same — look at all these examples! — therefore she deserves to be taken just as seriously.

    Let’s break it down.

To revert back, I am glad Chelsea feels comfortable possibly entering a field that gave her parents more ego than any human should have. However, I assume she would be democrat therefore a person's family and their past doesn't matter. ;) We are responsible for OUR lives, and no one's elses. Chelsea is her own person and should be judged by HER life, not her parents and their sordid affairs and powerhungry, diabolical behavior people knew Hillary to possess.

Just in case POTUS doesn't have enough on his plate with the budget, filibustering in the Senate, etc., now the Professional Left have teamed up with veteran advocates to scream that he hasn't done enough for the VA disability evaluation backlog.

....It's all his fault! Despite the problem going back as far as I can remember, even back when I was a lowly recordkeeping intern for a week at the VA Hospital in Seattle in 1966.

Our local (northwest Lower Michigan) news had a story tonight about the increased number of gun license applications. A sheriff person from one of the counties mentioned in the news clip stated that people applying for gun licenses are not asked why they want the license and that the purpose of the process is really to be sure that potential gun owners understand the law. So it does not really involve public safety or keeping weapons out of the wrong hands. The sheriff interviewed seemed apologetic about making people go through the licensing process. Somehow I do not feel any safer knowing that the authorities do not take this matter seriously.

I did hear today, though, from our Congressman (R of course), who this time at least did not tell me that gun laws are not necessary and that "human dignity" is of prime importance. This time he went on about mental illness for a bit and about how new gun legislative bills are now in a House committee, where they will languish as long as Dave Camp is Chair of House Ways and Means.

I don't know what it is about some progressives and Chris Matthews, it's like they think the President can wave a magic wand and get anything done. This speech eloquently demonstrates this issue has been high on President Obama's list. All he's asking for is a straight up or down vote, so we know the "Good and Bad" on both sides of the issue.
It's our job to hold the ones who vote down accountable for their actions.
