Republican infighting comes to a head during closed door luncheon, resulting in Rand Paul bolting for the door.

Why is everybody looking at me?
Courtesy of The New York Times:

The Republican conflict came to the fore last week during a closed-door luncheon for Senate Republicans, when Senator Susan Collins, of Maine, eyes blazing, stood up and complained about a series of attack ads that she was facing back home from a gun-rights group with deep ties to Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky.

Ms. Collins, who faces re-election next year, said the gun ads were an example of the kind of internal Republican warfare that has hindered the party in Senate races the last two elections. She supports the amendments and other components of the new gun regulations legislation, and she released a lengthy statement on Sunday explaining her thinking.

Her comments, according to several Republican aides, ignited a tense debate, similar to many the party has faced since its loss in the race for the White House last year. Senator Rob Portman, Republican of Ohio, stood to say he had been raising money for Ms. Collins’ re-election, only to watch her have to spend it to defend herself against the attack from the gun group, which has been directed at other members as well.

Ms. Collins warned her colleagues that if she loses a primary to a strong opponent with gun-rights credentials, it could well cost the party her seat.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, a freshman ally of Mr. Paul’s, jumped in to promise he had nothing to do with the group, according to officials briefed on the event. Then Mr. Paul, feeling attacked, stormed out. (A spokeswoman for Mr. Paul did not respond to repeated requests for comment.)

I have been talking a lot about the meltdown of the Alaska Republican party, but to be fair this is an epidemic that infects the party as a whole and will have huge consequences in the upcoming 2014 elections.

And let us not forget just WHO it was that demands credit for endorsing Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.

Yep that's right.

And it not exactly a coincidence that her candidate for the 2010 Senate seat in Alaska, Joe Miller, is also the guy who has now damn near gutted the party, and that her other Teabagger choices are now attempting to do the same to the national party.

After destroying everything that she touches is what being Sarah Palin is all about.

What it comes down to is this - this is a bellicose minority, a shrinking of the "great white race," who won't go down easy. They'll put in their all not goin with the flow but advancing in another direction to progress Americana exceptionalism.

And in their gutteral self-righteousness of class and cultural warfare, they'll refuse to bow down, sit-down-and-shut up and be unshackled by politically correct verbiage. Politically, if they die, they die, but at least it was with a still spine of patriots who fight for our first and second amendment rights over tyranny and permanent crony capitalists. . .

    Sound familiar?

Sarah (aka Calamity Jane) is the spokesmodel of the movement. Best part about this gig is that it pays oh so well, and guarantees her the proverbial attention she oh so craves perhaps cause she's awesome with god on her side and servant's heart and whatnot.

    3. Hmmm... Perhaps it's no irony at all that the phrase “American exceptionalism" was the coinage back in the 1930s of none other than--Joe Stalin.

The End Times of the Rpublican Party may be beginning (or well under way). Thank your, Sarah Palin for ridding us of the idiots of the Tea Party. Please endorse McConnell and Boehner. Oh, yes, ad Eric Cantor as well. Please, Sarah, please. Only you have the touch of doom.

Sarah, Rush Limbaugh, and their ilk might be some of the best friends Democrats have. They're just too stupid (Sarah) or egomaniacal (Rush) to realize how much help they give us!

She is truly the bitch of the north. As a Dem, I gotta love it though. Let them scrap. Unfortunately, for moderate and thoughtful GOPPERS MeCain unleashed a real maniac and it just isn’t going to stop until the party admits its racist element is in control of the dialogue.

Al Hoffman, Republican Mega-Donor: GOP 'Faces Irrelevancy' If It Won't Compromise On Gun Control

Al Hoffman, a top GOP donor with a history of criticizing fellow Republicans for perceived intransigence, blasted the party's position on gun control in an interview with the Palm Beach Post on Tuesday.

"I believe the Republican Party faces irrelevancy if we as a party don’t gain a little rational nexus as far as gun control is concerned. I personally believe President Obama is right on the issue of gun control," he said, clarifying that he considered himself a "conservative Republican."

"We really ought to follow what the American public wants and there’s a clear consensus that they’re in favor of stricter gun control," he said.

Hoffman also extended his criticism to top gun rights advocates, claiming that the nation has been "terrorized by the NRA and [its CEO] Wayne LaPierre" in the contentious debate over gun violence that has emerged since the December massacre at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

If I were Susan Collins I would have been really annoyed too. Beyond annoyed, in fact. But her cowardice on 99% of Senate votes has really disappointed me. She's not much of a "moderate." She always seems to vote with the rest of the GOP tribe.

Anom 2:37pm said Bristol strikes out.

Bristol has swung Levi's bat many times and Ben's and Gino's bats as well and keeps on striking out. Nobody seems to want Bristol on their team longer than one season.

How come she keeps striking out on all those teams?

Maybe it's time for Bristol to switch leagues and play on an all girls team?

    Just a thought.

I hope Sarah Palin gets involved with the 2016 elections with her endorsements. The Republicans are 0 for 2 in the presidential race when Sarah gets involved.

Sarah lets try to make it 0 for 3 for the GOP

But she wasn't involved. She never endorsed John McCain until her put her on his ticket. She never endorsed Mitt, she kept urging more people put in their hats and hold off on his selection. Even if he'd want her help, which he didn't) after his primary win, she would rather toot her own horn ornaggers in

This is effin golden as my incarcerated ex Gov would say...Joe Walsh, the one term rep. loser from the tea party organized a rally here in Chicago at the Daily Plaza on Monday. He expected 5000 people at the rally and only a couple hundred people showed up. As I was walking by I stopped for a few minutes out of morbid curiosity and seen more people just shaking their heads and laughing at the Tea and Toast Party. I loved every minute of it!
