Too young to be trusted with the decision to terminate her pregnancy, but not too young to give birth and raise a child. That is some fascinating logic there Nebraska.Of course the Fundies will helpfully suggest that this young woman simply carry the child to term and then give it up for adoption, thereby reducing her to breeding stock and providing yet another poor innocent mind for the religious zealots to mold and manipulate.
This young woman needs to SUE THE ISH out of Nebraska. They are violating her civil rights. Just as "Sarah Roe" sued Texas all those years ago.

Exactly. Against the law of the land, she is forced to give birth. How unconstitutional is that? My heart is with her and her baby, who I hope is adopted by a welcoming family. This is truly sad.
DeleteAnother problem comes up when the girl is raped by a person in her family. If it was the father, he might not give consent to an abortion.
DeleteShe needs to apply for welfare and put that judges name as the father! When he has to pay child support see how fast his tune changes! I can't believe with BC and plan B how a girl gets preg but abortion is the law of the land and they are denying it to her? BULLFUCKINGSHIT!!!!
DeleteSUE THEM ALL, KEEP THE BABY AND GIVE THE BABY A GOOD LIFE WITH ALL THE MONEY FROM SUING THESE BASTARDS!
If I'd be around this kid when she first knew she was pregnant, I'd have gotten her somewhere where she could have had a safe abortion. Total bullshit what has been done to her. Hopefully, someone will give her some kind instructions as to birth control once the baby has been delivered IF she gets that far. Who knows what she could do? Hope she has come loving folks around her.
ReplyDeleteI watched this last night and I didn't think breeding stock, but my thoughts were along the same line. They are using her as an incubator and when the child is born, I am betting that the court doesn't even let her decide what to do but will take the child and put it up for adoption. Call me jaded, but I also wonder what this teenagers race is, because, let's be honest, it's not like our justice system is color blind.
ReplyDeleteSo this kid is supposed to be mature enough to tend to the physical needs of the fetus, or will they jail her for not going to her pre-natal appointments?
ReplyDeleteAnd, after she copes with the pregnancy and the birth, does the poor kid get to make the decision about keeping the baby or giving it up for adoption? Will she be "mature" enough by then? Or do old white men get to decide that for her also?
A sixteen year old body is still growing. It doesn't need the burden of growing a baby too. The kid made a difficult decision to seek abortion, she needs our support, not an "immature" label.
Who will get the baby? Does it go to the highest bidder?
ReplyDeleteIs the foster father really the baby's father?
Does anyone know where Michele Bachman sold all the babies from her foster children? Every mother was 'special', so was not allowed to keep the children. Who knows if they would have preferred abortion......
ReplyDeleteThe court's dilly dallying and twiddling it's thumbs until it's too late to have an abortion. Who died and made these people "God"? She was beaten and abused and now mandated to become a mother. She has no family to speak of as it is, and a child is raising a child because someone else thinks it's "the right thing to do"? I hope she sues and wins.
ReplyDeleteThere must be binders full of pro life people willing to adopt both her and the child, Rachel just hasn't gotten to it yet, but I guarantee there must be hundreds of thousands, Right?
Then we have the iconic child of wealthy parents, who boinked her way to fame and fortune and is held as some pillar of the pro life crowd. *I'm referring to Bristol "I feel like my virginity got stolen" Palin...
