Re: Please Consider Case – November 2, 2013
Dear Sir or Madam:
My name is Schaeffer Cox. I am a young political prisoner from Alaska. I have a wife and two small children. I am currently being held in a highly secretive prison unit for political or high profile prisoners called the “Communication Management Unit,” or “CMU”. The purpose of the CMU is to censor one’s communication with the outside world, especially with attorneys or members of the press. It is my great hope that if this letter safely reaches you, you would give diligent consideration to the possibility of rendering me what assistance you are able.
I haven’t done anything illegal and I most definitely haven’t done anything morally wrong. I just made some extraordinarily power people extraordinarily angry with my extraordinarily idealistic charisma.
In 2008 I ran for the Alaska State House of Representatives. I came in 2nd in a 3 way race with roughly 38% of the vote. This was not bad for a 24 year old political newcomer with very little support from Party Establishment.
My relative success is likely attributable to the fact that I loved knocking on doors in my district, something few candidates will even do. Though from where I sit now I question whether anything I did can really be called a success at all.
After the election I needed something to do with all the money and support I had raised. The next election wasn’t for 2 years. So I tried to keep the energy going by organizing several groups that focused on Bill of Rights issues as well as whatever else had popular interest.
One such area of popular concern was police corruption, especially in the area of drug trafficking and sales. So at 25, with my enthusiasm surpassed only by my naivete, I devised a “brilliant” way to out the dirty cops by setting up hundreds of hometown people with a sort of video twitter we called “The Liberty Bell System.” Less than a week later the State Wide Drug Enforcement Unit opened an “investigation” on me. Now at this point mind you, I’m Duddley Do-Right Boy Scout who had never even smoked a cigarette let alone had anything to do with drugs.
Consequently the State drug cops, being unable to obtain a warrant due to a lack of probable cause, had difficulty furthering their efforts. So I was passed off to the FBI who are allowed to run cameras and listening devise into people’s homes without a warrant or even reasonable suspicion, which is just what they did to me. They also became very aggressive about sending undercover provocateurs who tried to convince me I was doing things all wrong and that acting out violently was the only way to make things change. When that failed they tried to provoke me by going after my children. Though this really shook me up bad, I still managed to refuse to respond to their escalating provocations until several undercover agents threatened to kill me if I didn’t join them in attacking the government. Fearing for our lives, my family and I tried to flee the country but were caught before we made it to Canada. I was arrested and sentenced to 26 years in prison for “Conspiring against the government.”
While the prosecutor admitted I had refused to act out violently and had in fact said repeatedly that I was “going to be like Gandhi, not like Rambo,” he argued that the only reason I hadn’t attacked the government was because I didn’t have the capability to actually pull such a thing off. He then waxed spooky as he imagined what a murderous revolutionary I would become if given enough time. Reality faded into the background as everyone argued about hypothetical crimes in hypothetical futures and what was in my heart. The crimes in this case were abstract fantasy but what’s left is a concrete reality, a concrete room with a concrete floor, a concrete ceiling and a concrete bed. Here I sit. This is the only thing that’s real.
I know I was fantastically naïve and foolish. I have included a copy of my story along with excerpts from supporting legal documents. I have also included a copy of a letter I sent to Rolling Stone magazine that you may find interesting. If after an initial review you have questions or would like further documentation, please write me back and I will see to it that you get what you need.
With, Great Respect – Schaeffer Cox
Whew! And you thought the craziest person to come out of Alaska was Sarah Palin!
This is an incredibly brazen attempt at revisionist history, but also speaks to just how insane this lunatic is.
His version of events is so far removed from what actually happened that it is almost amazing that Schaeffer would think that anybody who read about his case would buy his bullshit.
Especially since his own own words were used to convict him.
It is interesting that Cox believes that he can charm an organization like Amnesty International with a jailhouse letter, but then again he always did have far too much confidence in his powers of persuasion.
For those of us who followed his case carefully, there is little doubt that justice was served and that Francis Schaeffer Cox is exactly where he needs to be.
Wow. Poor little me. Are we sure he isn't taking victim lessons from old Sarah? Meanwhile, another school shooting because 2nd Amendment and NRA and freedom...
ReplyDeleteI think he forgot to include certain things in his letter - especially that he publically came out wanting to kill certain Alaskans - were not they judges or folks like that?
ReplyDeleteHe IS where he belongs!
Isn't his movement (or the one of which he was a part) the same one that Todd Palin was a paid member for a number of years (that was proven during Sarah's campaign w/McCain)?
And another paranoid schizophrenic puts his delusions on public display for all to see. I am very, very glad they put this sick puppy into safe keeping and broke up his merry band of idiots before they actually had hurt or killed someone.
ReplyDeleteYes. Thank you, hedgewytch, for being
Deleteso succinct.
You know, sociopaths are pathetic in general, but it's just downright sad to see one who is so bad at it. In an ironic twist, it *almost* makes him seem believable. I mean, how could a guy so bad at manipulating people get anyone to follow him? Guess he really had to scrape the bottom of the barrel...
ReplyDeleteOT but we really, as Americans need to stand down and stop the senseless slaughter on foreign soil.

Were these the same Yemenis who were killed on their way to a wedding by drones when George W. Bush was president? Or just a coincidence?

I'm surprised Cox didn't try to get off by claiming he was paranoid and had delusional thoughts. Prison still hasn't made him realize what he did was wrong, or to take personal responsibility for his actions. I also wonder if prison isn't making him mentally less stable than he was before he went to prison. Maybe a psychiatrist should work with him and prescribe him the medication he may need. At the current rate he's going, he's going to be fulfilling his full time in prison.

ReplyDeleteHe comes off as a text book psychopath to me. Thank God he's no longer forming his young children's minds. Hope his wife gets the help she obviously needs.
ReplyDelete11:30, I never thought about the negative influence Cox would have had on his children, and it certainly would have an effect on his children as adults. I also forgot about him abusing his wife, and I hope that since he's not around any more she can find someone who has more respect for women and people overall. The main concern I have for his wife is that she not go back into another abusive relationship. As you probably already know, it's very common for wives to get out of one abusive relationship and get right back into another. I hope she can break this cycle and starts a new life for her and her children. Unfortunately for children growing up in an abusive relationship, they often follow their fathers abusive behavior into their own marriage. If his wife finds someone else who is not abusive like Cox was during their marriage, I hope this cycle will be broken and they come out of this much more happier than they would've been with Cox.
DeleteMaybe if the prison lets him wear his cute little hat he will be happier and quit complaining so much.
ReplyDeleteSo the Wimp is crying victim since he has no access to his Penis extenders. Now he is the Abused Wife. Not such a Tough Talking Militiaman now, BWAHAHAHAHA. Enjoy your new friend Bubba, Punk.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I simply cannot dredge up any sympathy for this guy. He is a creep and what he did was very dangerous. Inciting crazy people to act out their craziness with guns is not a good thing. May he stay locked up in prison or in a mental institution for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Reminds me of the shooting of Gabby Giffords - because Inciting crazy people had political benefit
DeleteWow ! Talk about someone being totally full of it. He is more messed up than a soup sandwich.
ReplyDeleteSilly little fucker. Might as well ask Joe Miller or Sarah Palin for help.
ReplyDeleteHow to rewrite history - when you discover reality.
ReplyDeleteGee,his manifesto makes him sound almost virginal. All Francis needs, and may one day get, is a chance to mingle with the others in the concrete prison full of naive "community organizers" (to borrow a phrase from another warped depraved mind).
ReplyDeleteOh, Schaeffer, you're adorable. As godless, socialist, free healthcare loving, automatic gun eschewing heathens, we'd have given you right back to your government in a red hot second. But, whatever gets you through the night.
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Canada

ReplyDeleteI'll bet being the bitch, is a bitch< but you arn't going anywhere shaeffer.
ReplyDeleteHe's like a younger, less fertile male version of Sarah Palin. All impressed with himself and convinced everyone is out to get him since he's got so much potential with charisma and whatnot. Jesus Heath Christ, to be a fundy in Alaska, you are king of the world!
ReplyDeleteI wrote several comments on the internet before the legal issues that Cox had Paranoid Personality Disorder and more which involved psychosis. He was diagnosed with PPD and Schizophrenia, It was very obvious. Note how well he fit in with the politicians of Alaska, like a glove, that was a huge part of the problem, the politicians are very similar to Cox. The FBI in evaluating Cox must have had at least one psychologist tell them this. Why did they not intervene? Why did they continue with their undercover investigation rather than seek a court order and put him in a psych setting? Why was he not evaluated when he was arrested on gun charges and domestic violence for possible danger to others? Remember the military base story when he went there asking for help wearing a bullet proof vest with guards? This was a neon sign. Why not say, oh this guy is crazy, that's the problem and look at the dumbshits following him. When they start having issues it is a good idea to get a psych evaluation as it prevents people from harm which in this case would include Cox and his followers. It is very likely Cox would not have complied with treatment and would have ended up behind a locked door anyway. Some of his followers would have been faced with reevaluating their belief systems due to finding out they had followed a very sick man, believing paranoid delusional thinking. What he says about the CMU is true and he was partially set up by the government, they used him probably as an example, had an informant egg them on and there is no way they did not know he was mentally ill. This does not mean I don't think he is dangerous, it means I think they should have done things very differently.
ReplyDeleteI disagree, Celia. By all accounts, Cox had been assembling a militia, accumulating weapons, and had issued a death sentence - twofold - on any judges or law enforcement personnel that might dare stand in his way. It was just a matter of time before innocent people were going to be killed.
DeleteEgged on, informed upon - probably. In my opinion, the means in this case matter less than the result: Cox behind bars, hopefully with little or no chance for parole. And I'll go out on a limb and surmise that this outcome has virtually all Alaskans sleeping better at night.
As sad as it sounds I wouldn't doubt in Alaska. You piss one of their good old boys and your done. I won't get into my unbelievable story with their government, but go to courtview, look up my ex. He has two rap sheets. One spelled matthew(2t's)-and one Mathew Tucker. All of his violent and drug and ptrp charges were after serving 6 years in an Arizona prison for shooting at his pregnant ex wife, and strangling a young man. His dad, a former judge in Alaska, is one of the boys. Among some of the dismissed charges-stabbed my friend, broke my restraining order 25 times at the awaiic shelter...I've had ,3 surgeries on my face, 4 titanium plates...all his current charges were brought while on probation..he walks away. I promise you he's going to kill someone. The awaiic moved me out of town. The list of unbelievable crimes including murder i believe, goes on and on. But being his dad is Warren Tucker-it's ok. Alaska's government is sick and corrupt.
