Sarah Palin and Joe Miller, the faces behind the insurgents who terrify the Alaska Republican party. |
The Alaska Republican Party has taken measures to prevent a political takeover, like one that was instigated by Tea Party activists in 2012.
The new rules say a person has to be registered as a Republican for at least four years before seeking a top leadership position, and they require all candidates for the party’s statewide offices to be vetted by a special committee before they can run. The rules were adopted on Saturday, at the Alaska Republican Party’s biannual convention. They come in response to a coup staged by a group of Ron Paul supporters at the 2012 convention.
“Two years ago, people that were not Republicans were registering to become Republicans on the day of their district conventions and participating,” says Goldberg. “That’s really not appropriate.”
The insurgents elected a libertarian-leaning chair and vice chair, but the Alaska Republican Party’s old guard removed them from office last year.
Very few of those insurgents were present at this year’s convention, which was held in Juneau. But the 2016 convention will happen in Fairbanks, making an influx of dissidents more likely.
As many of you will remember I covered the 2012 Tea Party coup in between trips to the store for more popcorn. Including when the establishment Republicans began wrestling back control.
Ultimately I think this is mostly about keeping Joe Miller from being selected as the candidate to run against Mark Begich, as well, of course, to protect the party from anymore of his takeover attempts.
I still think it is too late for the Alaska GOP to get their act together and launch a reasonable campaign against Senator Begich, as attested to by the fact that virtually ALL of the ads for the establishment choice Dan Sullivan appear to be paid for by the Koch brothers, and not by the Republican party in Alaska.
The Republicans up here may have found a way to protect themselves from any more coups, but they may also find it much harder to repair the reputation that was damaged so badly by the events of 2012 orchestrated by Joe Miller, while following Sarah Palin's old playbook of course.
P.S. It looks like the Alaska Republicans are not the only ones seeking a way to keep the Teabaggers out.
Sullivan's campaign ads all come from the kochclowns? Hmm, I thought that outsiders weren't welcome in Alaska? I guess money trumps independence, eh?
ReplyDeleteSullivan is also a carpetbagger - has a million dollar home he owns in the D.C. area, worked for the Bush presidency and doesn't deserve one vote from any Alaskan!
DeleteDon't vote for Republicans!! Beginning w/Parnell and BOTH Sullivans!
Sullivan is a Bushite!
DeleteIt's going to take a lot of chlorine to clean the republican gene pool of the teabagger piss left behind,.
ReplyDeleteSo how come the Wasilla Gorilla hasn't issued her cash cows a Happy Mother's Day? Didn't Sarah have a big family gathering with her, her lovely disciplined, vibrant children, and all those out of wedlock blessings of hers? Come Sarah, it's getting late. By tomorrow your fans will have all forgotten about you and your kooky family. Hurry up!
ReplyDeletePost something vibrant (actually, we'd settle for something logical and kind.)
Yea, Palins - like congratulating Dr. Chelsea Clinton for obtaining her Doctorate!
DeleteHow about praising the merits of "baptism?"
DeleteWell, Joe can loose the Rep. primary and still pull a Murkowski. He won't win but that probably will guarantee a Begich win by splitting the Republican vote.
ReplyDeletePalin is all chin and jaw in that photo! Not feminine at all from the side view!
ReplyDeleteI agree, and can someone explain to me what they're trying to do in that photo? Get a Room! Even streetwalkers have some semblance of decorum. Miller's licking her ear and she's on cloud nine - eeek!
DeleteLook closer at her jaw - it looks like the one side of McCain's!!! Lumpy!
DeleteJust GROSS. I can smell the stench from here. Does she EVER bathe?
DeleteSarah's never had anything to do with actual AK repubs and esp nothing to do with the tea party group there. The latter are people who have nothing to do with govt, who make their own clothes and everything else
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about. She endorsed tea- party Joe....
DeleteShe did endorse Joe Miller last go round! Teabagger!
Delete6:41 PM Is it Troll time already?
DeleteLemme guess, you're part of the Sue "Exchange Brain Surgery and Chemotherapy for Chickens" Lowden crowd.
DeleteVetting? Where was this law when Seniletor McCain tapped Sarah on both shoulders? The Alaska GOP is a little late thinking up this gem. I bet the vaguely bearded one filled a few depends after reading this!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to all the mothers and others out there who've made a difference in any child's life. Gee, nothing from the Palins on the day celebrating what they do constantly? LOLZ
Can't Sarah Palin think of one nice thing to say on her facebook about her own mother, Sally Heath? How about just "Happy Mothers Day, Mom!"
DeleteAs for Bristol, her post honors the single mothers who don't get the praise that they deserve. "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!! Especially to all the single moms that don't get the praise they deserve, God's plan will always be greater than our own! " Hey, Bristol, maybe it was God's plan that you kid would not praise you. Maybe you didn't deserve any praise. How about honoring your own mother, or are things so bad that you can't thank her for exposing your pregnancy when you were an unwed teen? How about that baby that she kept asking to adopt? Any thanks for that?
Forgot this OT but hillarious clip from the welfare cowboy!
ReplyDeletehttp://aattp.org/welfare-cowboy-supporter-says-no-guns-were-pointed-at-blm-or-police-video/
Yeah, and he says the pictures of his guys pointing guns at people are not proof. "Prove it," he says.
DeleteSue,
DeleteLOL on him! I was talking with some peeps over the weekend they said they had this $400. camera that had this zoom on it, you could take a pic of a bird then ZOOM it on the camera so you could see the birds PUPILS! Now do you think the FEDS don't have something better that they can see exactly who they were aiming at????
What a bunch of idiots! Can wait for them to explain to a judge what they were doing....
OT, but up your alley

M from MD
It isn't Alaska that looks insane...it's the people they choose to headline the shows. I'm sure there are perfectly normal, wonderful Alaskans, but when you turn over a show to the Palins, what do they expect to happen?
DeleteWHY DOESN'T SARAH PALIN LEAD ALASKA'S TEA PARTY TAKEOVER?
ReplyDeleteBecause she is chicken shit and knows she'd be creamed from one end to the other. She only likes to talk from her computer - Facebook - and would not be capable enough to debate or answer questions - panel style.
DeleteShe'd flunk and she knows it!
Kochs and Kochsucker Dirty Dan Sullivan are a perfect match, they have exactly the same ethics.
ReplyDeleteLet's ask Mr Former Department of Natural Resources Head Honcho Dirty Dan a question about a very common natural resource.... like a question about fishing- and watch him dive under the table and suck his thumb... fucking carpetbagging Alaska-hating Bushite Idiot.
And he was the AG so maybe it isn't his fault about the recent AKNG "issues". Choose respect and give him a chance to answer some questions about sex assaults in the Guard too.
DeleteDan Sullivan - the one from Washington D.C. - the carpetbagger. Give him respect? Sounds like the same person that mentioned doing that for Sarah Palin not too long ago and I responded negatively!
DeleteSullivan is being supported by the Koch Brothers and National Chamber of Commerce in the ads that are currently being run in Alaska. It is NOT Alaska money! The Koch Brothers need to butt their asses out of Alaska and stop trying to influence us - it tain't workin' buddies!
Plus, Sullivan is a Republican, which is a party that does not support Americans across the nation in women's issues, are blocking voting rights for the black and brown folks in many states, many are racists and members of the KKK!
Be care for whom you mark your ballots! Research the individuals, listen to how they answer their questions in debates, how they voted on issues if currently in office and determine who is backing them financially for their campaigns.
Let me decipher the snark for you-
DeleteChoose respect (Parnells whitewashing campaign to prevent sex assault and abuse) and give him (Dan Sullivan- former Palin and Parnell Attorney General) a chance to answer some questions about sex assaults (either he knows something or he knows nothing- Sgt Schultz Hogan's Heros reference) in the Guard (AKNG- google for sex assault AKNG and ADN or FDNM) too.
"Porno Pete" threatens to file a lawsuit! Maybe he should ask Bradley Dean how suing Rachael Maddow is working out?
ReplyDeletewww.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/11/anti-gay-crusader-threatens-defamation-lawsuit-after-writer-claims-he-used-swear-word-effing/
Every time I see this fucking sow embracing one of her endorsees, she is always wearing that inane "Don't worry hon, you'll win" look on her fetid puss.
ReplyDeleteWell guess what Sarah: You're a fucking loser endorsing equally useless and hopeless fucking losers. Get lost, eat shit and, welt, you know the rest of it.
If you zoom in on Palin's cheekbone you can see striations. It almost looks like someone sewed in a seashell under her cheek. Any experts out there know if this is natural or surgical ??
ReplyDeleteBitch is just old
DeleteI think she's had cheek implants. There's a "Madamism" picture of her out there, the one where her hair is a mess, even by Sarah Palin. It's one when she did that ridiculous motorcycle appearance. The photos of her doing her stupid Big Gulp schtick also has suspicious cheek bones.
DeleteSarah and Todd did you wish Trig's mother a Happy Mother's Day?
ReplyDeleteLast known address of employment maybe in Anchorage?
DeleteAnd, what about Todd's Mother? No one ever talks about her! But, she has probably purposefully stays away from her daughter-in-law!
ReplyDeleteDoes Todd have siblings? If so where are they? How come we never seen them at the Palin house or seen them with Todd or his children?
DeleteJames Palin - brother
DeleteDiana Palin - sister
Any more?
Senator Sarah Palin
ReplyDeleteof the Great State of Alaska
The people of Alaska are waiting for you to run.
Won't happen. Sarah Palin is too chicken shut to run.
DeleteAs Sarah says: Buck up or get or stay in the truck
Looks like Sarah is going to stay in the retard truck
I meant to say
DeleteBuck up or stay in the truck
BWAHAHAHAHA, the people of Alaska are waiting to Laugh at Sarah. She QUIT on them, why would they give her another chance to quit.
