Tea Party leader upset that criminals, especially black criminals, "are given the benefit of the doubt." Bonus: He's is also black.

Courtesy Raw Story:

In video captured by Right Wing Watch, Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND) and the South Central L.A. Tea Party, described both Brown and Martin as “thugs,” and said that criminals in America, “especially black criminals,” are let off too easily.

“I’ve said from day one that Michael Brown is a thug,” Peterson explained before asserting that he must be a criminal by nothing “the fact that he was running from the cops, period, because good folks do not run from police officers, they follow their instructions.”

He added, “I just think that it’s a shame that, in America today, that criminals are given the benefit of the doubt – especially black criminals because white criminals are not – but black criminals are given the benefit of the doubt and the police officers are the suspects. I don’t know what has happened to my country."

Peterson introduced Trayvon Martin –shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012– into the conversation, stating, “This guys was a thug, he grew up without both parents in the home. When you look at his Facebook page, he has a gun in his hand, smoking marijuana, has tattoos, had been thrown out of school. The guy’s a thug. Why are we protecting thugs?”

I will assume that this idiot does not understand the idea of innocent until proven guilty.

And how is it that a black man in America does not understand why fellow minorities might run from the police even if not guilty?

But then I guess of you were to be a Tea Party leader a prerequisite would have to be an incredible lack of knowledge concerning just about everything.

What happened to "presumed innocent?" Maybe we should apply the same logic to Governor Perry who has abused power-- or Sarah Palin-- who is guilty of any number of charges.

  3. Jesse Lee Peterson also sermonized on women's right to vote, back in 2012.

I can see why an obnoxious personality like Jesse Lee Peterson, regardless of and especially one of color, is so attractive to Fox News. He has a long history of being as wingnutty as Allen West.

    What an ignorant pawn.

“I just think that it’s a shame that, in America today, that criminals are given the benefit of the doubt – especially black criminals because white criminals are not – but black criminals are given the benefit of the doubt and the police officers are the suspects. "

He should compare the story of the ammosexuals walking around Walmart with the story of John Crawford.

Wait a minute! Brown and Martin are the Victims, why does their background mean anything. Of course there is a presumption of innocence - of the perpetrators, as long as they are being carefully investigated, not glossed over just because they're cops (or cop wanna-bes).

I think the GOP uses Black republicans (who IMO are the equivalent of nazi jews) to say the things that they (white men) cannot say against other black people without sounding racist. They are tools....

Gee, that description fits half the "youth I know" that attended one of the whitest High Schools in Orange County California.... Funny, how most of the one's that I know personally come from wealthy families; have finished or are finishing college.... Do you think this guy would be calling these "white" kids thugs?

Where does this guy live? Mars? Or is he just a "PIMP"?

  13. Is the word thug ever used to describe white kids?

Culture Club wrote a song about his church "The church of the poisoned mind". Of course, he MUST be on every rwnj's rolodex or address book on speed dial. What better way to diffuse a racially sensitive issue by finding one African American with a few screws loose? Will he be making the rounds on Fox? Breitfart? Limbaugh?
There's one thing I can't stand more than a coward is this type of bigoted "always blame the victim at any cost to get air time" coward. The DOJ specifically told the police not to release that video, and they did anyway, causing more violence and pouring vinegar and salt in an open wound.
We can't have a replay of the Treyvon Martin Case, unfortunately, they seem to be setting things up that way. What sad, pathetic and inhumane asswipes. They deserve whatever karma has in store for them, tenfold.

I think this guy just clued me in as to how to tell thugs from Teabaggers: if the kid had had a beer in one hand and a gun in the other, and quit school instead of being kicked out, he could have been a Teabagger instead of a thug. Easy-peasy.

Even if the tall, heavy-set black man stealing the cigars on the video tape actually WAS guilty, I don't think the punishment (death penalty) was suitable. After all, the total value was less than $50, right? If that's the case, the Wall St grifters should have not only been executed, their remains should have been burned in the streets after being dragged to Zuc Square behind a taxi. The monetary value alone should have determined the punishment. Oh, I forgot, their race was the determining factor.
