Florida man who shot and killed unarmed teenager over loud music sentenced to life in prison.

Courtesy of CNN:

A Florida judge Friday sentenced Michael Dunn to life in prison without parole for the 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

The sentence, imposed nearly two years after Dunn shot and killed Davis during an argument over loud music, also carries an additional 90 years for three convictions of attempted murder and firing a weapon into a vehicle.

"This case demonstrates that our justice system does work," Duval County Judge Russell Healey said moments before sentencing Dunn.

I think this verdict is very good news, especially for those of us who worried that this guy would get  the "Zimmerman treatment" and be allowed to simply walk free after killing this kid in cold blood.

I think the judge really summed things up well with these words:

"Mr. Dunn, your life is effectively over," Healey said. "What is sad... is that this case exemplifies that our society seems to have lost its way."

"We should remember there is nothing wrong with retreating and deescalating the situation," the judge said.

And good riddance to bad garbage in my opinion. Just check out the non-apology apology that Dunn offered the family right before his sentencing:

"I want the Davis family to know I truly regret what happened," he said. "I'm sorry for their loss. If I could roll back time and do things differently, I would."

He feared for his life, he said.

"I did what I thought I had to do," Dunn said. "Still, I am mortified I took a life, whether it was justified or not."

So even in the end this POS is trying to make the case that he felt he was in danger and was only trying to protect himself.

That is such bullshit. This asshole lost his temper and used a gun to take out his anger on a car full of unarmed teenagers, killing one.

If he had not had a gun this would have just been a frustrating altercation that he could have bitched about later on Facebook. But because he lives in America, and every asshole who can afford one is allowed to purchase a gun, this 17 year old is now dead.

The judge is right, society has lost its way.

Who knew white guys were so afraid of a few notes. Wimps.
I am so glad the judge on this case got it right, for once....

This sentence might give other Dirty Harry wannabe gun lovin', miserable, sour, tiny-dicked, SEE-COND AMEEEND-MENT worshipping assholes some pause before reachin' for the penis substitutes when they see somebody they don't like the looks of. This sentence might have just saved some lives.

"I took a life, whether it was justified or not."

This guy will have many, many years in prison to weep copious tears of self-pity because he was found guilty of a crime which he still hints was justified! He has not apologized. He still thinks he was in the right.
But perhaps his sentence will stay the hand of some other trigger-happy jerk who wants to enforce the law all by himself.

He is where he should be and I would think they are going to have to keep him in solitary confinement for fear of the black population in the prison going after him.

I'll bet he doesn't live a long life in prison!

Dunn is a despicable man -- well, he's not a man, he is a piece of scum who apparently still thinks that he was entitled to do as he pleased and take a 17 year old's life. I was so afraid that he would get the "Zimmerman treatment". I hope that he doesn't get special treatment in prison, I hope he's released into the general population.

One less person walking among us who is looking for someone to kill.

  7. If there was really effective justice, he'd be sharing a cell with Zimmerman.

Someone at his new "forever" home, please, wipe that smugness off his face, permanently.

Hopefully, now, there will be, at the very least, a civil suit brought against the female who was with him eating pizza afterward and drinking even more liquor than they had consumed prior to and after the reception. Some culpability, anything. Just scum..

Blame the NRA for this, and its many politically motivated tiny-dicked, racist, money-grubbing, chickenshit enablers.

Bigoted asshole still thinks his 'fear' and use of a weapon was justified.

More convictions for shit like this will make NRAholes think twice about the benefits of gun ownership.

Dunn pulled the trigger 10 times and Jordan Davis was hit with 9 bullets. Dunn meant to kill that night. Glad to know this POS will spend the rest of his life rotting in prison.

The Zimmerman trial and the Dunn trial both had appropriate outcomes. There is no reason to compare between these two totally different cases.

    2. Nonsense. In both cases, a trigger happy asshole thug who *wanted* to shoot a human being pursued and murdered an unarmed teen.

Zimmerman got away with murder. Dunn didn't.

This really hit home for me. Going as far back in the "way-back" machine of 1973. Before "stand your ground laws". I live in Florida, since 1995, and I swear, I think twice before even nodding my head at someone or acknowledging them while I am filling my PRIUS up zt the gas station. I live in Northwest FL., which is also known as the Redneck Rivera. Absolutely beautiful beaches & fantastic lifestyle...yet, I get the "finger" several times daily, not because of my driving, but because I drive a "Liberal" car, this is a daily thing, ppl like this in my neck of the woods HATE what they see as a person who is non white, non conservative, not a good ol' boy....and have no issue with going that extra mile now. It's legal in Florida to shoot those who "you feel threatened by", correct? I had a guy, approx. 75 years old, pull a gun on me at a gas station a few months back because I walked into the adjoining Church's Chicken store looking for the owner of the person of the van that had his 3 great dane dogs locked in it, in 95 degree heat! He went balistic, ran out to the van & pulled a gun on me! All the while spouting off "you must be an Obama Lover! You f-ing libtard feminist! You retard bitch!"I mean, really? He got all of that because I drove a Prius? (Well, I AM a registered Democrat) but I also opporate a successful pet care biz and never hesitate to call ppl out when they are cooking their pets in their vehicles. He pulls the gun, and luckily, the 20 ppl who were non-white inside of Churchs Chicken (a bonus moment to be sure) surrounded him and disarmed him. The cops? Well......when the PO-lice, Sgts. Jethro & Cletus showed up.......they said that they. Ould uncerstand how he would threatened by this MOB. WTF? I try to save some dogs & almost get shot. In 1973, way before these "new laws", I witnessed a friend of mine bet shot inthe back, dead, by an 80 yr old guy who said "these teenagers wouldn't turn their damn music down!" He was a neighbor. We were having a party next door, 9pm at night, 20 teenagers approx 14-16 yrs. Old. He got probation. The judge said "wewere disturbing the peace & he felt afraid for his life". In WI. In 1973. We weren't even blasting the Pink Floyd. We had long hair & bell bottoms. Enough to be murdered for.

I had a lady go off on me at my local grocery store because she was in a bad mood: "oh look you have kefir, vegan burgers, organic coconut milk.....what are ya? An Obama lover?" I mean, Really? I bought tbe same stuff when Bush was president. So ok to shoot me now when we walk out to our cars and you are still having a coniption fit about a vegan/liberal/communist/socialist (it was the organic soybeans that set you off, right?) What else can I NOT do to prevent you from killing me in a right-to-shoot-to-kill" state? We don't do too many bumper stickers or yard signs here either. May as well just line up to be killed. People truly have gone crazy since Obama took office. And they all start their rants with "I'm not racist, but......."

  17. This bothers me also. The conflating of mental illness with violent tendencies, and if we just make sure mentally ill people can't get guns, the problem will be solved.

There are many mentally ill people and many mental illness diagnoses that do not include violence as a symptom or marker.

There are many sane people (like Dunn and Zimmerman) who are angry, impulsive, misanthropic assholes and who are deadly dangerous with a gun when they want to act out their frustrations and feelings of inadequacy.

How do we keep guns out of their hands?

Wow, a jury that got it right the first time! Yet the murderer STILL refuses to acknowledge he was wrong in the first place. I hope they blast Romantic Johnny Mathis albums 24/7 or "Forget You", and who can forget "Having my Baby" by Paul Anka?
