Sen. Rand Paul is engaging in the Alaska Senate race with an endorsement for Republican Dan Sullivan in a new ad.
Paul, who has quickly become one of the prized Republican surrogates in this midterm election cycle, is featured in a television spot from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which debuted Friday.
"In states like Alaska, the chamber is focused on the independent swing vote and we think Sen. Paul is well positioned to deliver a message that appeals to them," said Blair Latoff Holmes, a chamber spokeswoman.
In the ad, Paul looks straight to the camera to deliver the message that "Washington is broken."
"Washington takes too much of our freedoms and too much of our money," Paul says. "I think Dan Sullivan will get it back."
"To change Washington," Paul adds, "change your senator."
Wow you know filmed in that light, it almost covers up for the fact that Rand Paul has a dead squirrel on his head.
You know I agree with Paul that we need to "change Washington." And by that I mean we need to stop sending obstructionists whose sole objective is to undermine the President, and force the government to grind to a halt.
You know the same objectives embraced by Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mile Lee, and other political insurgents who are in Washington simply to prove the old GOP adage that government does not work.
By sending yet another Tea party douchebag we help to ensure that nothing that Alaska wants or needs will be delivered.
And let's not ignore the elephant in the room.
In 2012 Joe Miller used the Ron Paul supporters up here to stage a coup of the Republican party.
Ultimately the Alaska GOP dropped the hammer on the Paul supporters, wrestled back control of the party, and then instituted new guidelines to keep that from happening again.
However it left a really bad taste in the mouth of establishment Republicans in this state, so the idea of Ron Paul lite making a commercial in support of Dan Sullivan might not be as warmly received as the Chamber of Congress seems to expect.
And besides that, and maybe this is just me, but how can we take anybody seriously about his message of transparency in government when he wears this thing on his head?
I mean come on! His hair is straight, why would it suddenly get all curly just at the top of his head?
I totally disagree with his father on almost everything, but at least the little guy wore his obvious comb over proudly.
I have a new policy that I will only take Rand Paul seriously when he stops insulting out intelligence and reveals that he is bald.
I mean I will still disagree with him, and attack him on his political points of view. But I will do it seriously.
The carpetbagger just made another campaign goof! First, we have learned he is a liar and now he brings in Rand Paul's endorsement to the State of Alaska. Major, major goof! Didn't plan on voting for him anyway (I support Senator Mark Begich, the true Alaskan!), but this gives Alaskans more fodder for NOT voting for him.
ReplyDeleteDan Sullivan needs to show he supports Alaskans and would work for Alaskans, but he's doing neither. All he talks about is President Obama and Washington D.C. Sullivan would be nothing more than an 'obstructionist' (if elected - which I seriously doubt he will be!) just like the other Republicans in the very much disliked U.S. Congress!
"Republicans unleash Rand Paul on Alaskan voters in support of Dan Sullivan. Awkward!"
ReplyDeleteWHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR SARAH PALIN? HOW COME THE REPUBLICANS DOESN'T UNLEASH OUR SARAH PALIN ONTO THE ALASKAN VOTERS? WE LOVE US SOME SARAH IN ALASKA.
Actually that is a very good question, why would the GOP not ask a person that had previously been Gov and on the presidential ticket to rally for their candidate? BAWAAAHHHHH, even the GOP thinks Sarah is done.
DeleteHow come he doesn't ask Sarah Palin for her endorsement. There are many races in the States where the endorsement of a former Governor would be gold.
ReplyDeleteHere in Maine, all the candidates sought out the endorsement of Senator Angus King, a beloved former two term Governor. He endorsed the Independent for Governor, the Republican for Senate and the Democrat for House District 2.
Has Mr. Sullivan even sought Sarah out to ask for her endorsement? You would think he might want to smooth the ruffled feathers of the Joe Miller crowd (who as I recall Sarah endorsed in the primary).
I think I know the answer to my own question. You Alaskans might call him Ohio Dan and now Maryland Dan, but I never heard anyone call him Stupid Dan. But we can always hope that Sarah goes rogue and endorses him anyway. That would be priceless.
How come he doesn't ask Sarah Palin for her endorsement.
DeleteAlso too...
The Paul family may not be one's cup of tea politically but they are more sane when it comes to parenting. The Pauls may be appalled by what the Palins represent and do with their family.

'Tripp also kept grabbing cups of beer and not one person in his family noticed or if they did notice, they did not care. I saw at least two people chastise him and remove the beer from his hands. He also had a little action figure type thing he kept throwing high up in the air, then going to retrieve it. It was like he was playing fetch with himself.
And even if Tripp had been in the limo, the idea that he'd be asleep with the bass thumping, neon lights blinking, Track's buddies boozing, et cetera is just ridiculous.'
‘It’s unusual for a mother to come in with her son. She was Governor, too, so it was even more memorable.’

DeleteHate to tell you that Rand hasn't been much better of a parent. I am guessing you have forgotten about his underage son being drunk and causing a disturbance on an airline flight.
Thanks. I did not know. They may draw the line at renting a party Humvee to liquor up your family after a PTSD charity drive.
DeleteWe've got a statement about the brawl from a named witness and from a witness' friend who was vetted by Gryphen....more than enough about the Palin thugs to appall the Paul family. Why wonder off with unverified rumor?
DeleteI'll pay attention to TBAT when she contacts Gryphen so he can vet her. Gryphen has proven he can be trusted to protect his source's identity.
Until then, I learn towards thinking TBAT may be RAM functioning in her 'grass roots consultant' role to plant rumors that serve to humor Palin and to give her ammunition to discredit her critics.
1:28pm - "Possibly this witness was named and vetted?"
DeleteMalia says it was an 'anonymous' tip and she encouraged anyone with info to contact the authorities. She says nothing in the post or her comments to indicate there was any vetting.
How sad that it comes to this in America. I hope the states and communities can do a better job of self-policing so they don't need an intervention.

This coupled with Frankenfish Sullivan makes me wonder if there isn't someone who 'wants to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of 'politics' in Alaska. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteLike Rand Paul gives a flying furlong what happens in Alaska. Why doesn't Dan Sullivan speak for himself? Because he doesn't really know the answers to the questions Alaskans are likely to ask. And Lisa Murkowski ... well, there are no words for her any more. She has been bought and sold this go-round. I admire Mark Begich, who is by all means not perfect, more and more each day. Alaska can't afford to lose him.
ReplyDeleteSullivan isn't showing himself much as to campaigning throughout Alaska. He has appeared at two debates in Kodiak and doesn't show himself well in that he appears uninformed as to Alaska issues.
DeleteAll he does is use President Obama against Senator Mark Begich....which is ridiculous!
His (ad) supporters are all Washington D.C. folks, which is the worst thing he could do for his campaign. He's going to lose big time due to being a very unimpressive politician!
I'm one of those who is enjoying watching Lisa betray all the fools that wrote her in. Can't get enough pleasure these days from saying "I told ya so", and before you go saying that Joe Miller would have been worse, have a look at Lisa's recent voting record, she and Joe Miller would have voted the same way at least 90% of the time.
Delete11:14 ... Agree, and am ashamed to say I was one of those fools.
DeleteYou can't trust a man who wears a toupee. He is lying and thinks you are too stupid to see it. The truth is he is too stupid to see what an a** he is. When I see a man wearing a hairpiece I always want to ask, do you really think you look better with that thing on your head than without it? My grey hair, receding hairline, and the lines on my face - I earned all of those from the joys and sorrows in my life. To paraphrase John Houseman in those old commercials, I got all of that the old-fashioned way, I earned it.
ReplyDeleteI was married to a guy that wore a toupee for years. He finally stopped wearing it when he was in his 60's. It was so obvious they were toupees - he fooled no one except himself. Now he is IN w/the totally bald, shiny head!
DeletePaul DOES wear a toupee....it's been obvious for years. He has different ones too!
DeletePersonally I don't think that's a toupee, he just has nappy curly hair and he cuts it really short on the sides and lets the top go long. Not that I'm defending the guy, I just think that's his real hair, unfortunately. I mean really, who would pay money for a toupee that looks like that?
ReplyDeleteI agree. There are sooo many reasons to dislike this twerp, that we don't have to focus on his hair.
DeleteMy 11 year-old son has curly hair that gets very straight when it is cut and he doesn't wear a toupee (at least I don't think so...)
Rand looks like a jerk, talks like a jerk and has the politics of a jerk.
Must be a jerk, whether his hair is real or not.
"who would pay money for a toupee that looks like that?"
DeletePerhaps he gets them in trade for discount optometry services?
Ive seen used toupees that look like that in the 2/$10 'high fashion hairpieces' bin at the local Goodwill retail outlet.
Sorry, but Rand has worn a toupee for years.
DeleteYeah, D.C.'s broke all right. This self-aggrandizing jackass is among the culprits that broke it to the point that it barely functions.
ReplyDeleteM from MD
Rand did mention Aqua Buddha didn't he?
ReplyDeleteDid you oppose that Ron Paul was one of the very few to very openly challenge the Iraq invasion, going against his own party and democrats such as Hillary? Remember he was one of the only people to do this, and was essentailly mocked during republican presidential debates, but he had the balls to do it and warned of the long term consequences.
ReplyDeleteBig deal! He is also a racist, anti-Semite who does not believe in social security, the department of education, the EPA, IRS or rights for the disabled. I could go on and on, so what if he was right on one thing.
DeleteWho cares? The articles is about Rand Paul, who is a shallow dunce.
DeleteI applaud a lot of their true Libertarian tendencies and have always been more fond of the father than the son, however, Ron and Rand, because of the R after their name are not true Libertarians, but some weird hybrid Republican/Libertarian which never works. And yes, Libertarians tend to be isolationist which I wholeheartedly agree with. We need to take care of America first and stop playing "world police". That being said Ron and Rand need to pick a side instead of being all over the map. A true Libertarian would never run as a Republican.
DeleteAre you really going to make me type out "stopped clock"? And what in the name of all that's unholy does that have to do with Jr. and Sullivan?
DeleteNo I didn't, but I can tell you Ron Paul the supposed "libertarian" did nothing his whole career but successfully line his own pockets by having fake presidential runs for decades. Every so-called run, after Iowa he would cut way back on his schedule and do nothing but collect campaign dollars that he could take into retirement with him. And except for Iraq, every close vote for decades was just what someone told him to vote. Ron Paul was nothing but a GOP stooge his whole career in the "big, bad, government" he said he disliked.

ReplyDeleteHmmm, numbers are falling faster than my maple leaves cupcake!
How shocking that a Democrat would vote with the Democrats 91% of the time!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the other 9%?
Hasn't it been proven that Republicans did the same thing last year in the U.S. Congress? They always voted in unison to 'obstruct' and counter every move President Obama made.
DeleteI like the Democratic way of thinking much, much better than the nasty Republicans! Plus, they are anti women, which must not be overlooked! Anti contraception, anti abortion, anti equal, etc.
We have a Dem candidate in CA who is being trashed in Repug ads 'for standing with Pelosi and supporting Obamacare'. Duh The repugs ran out of ideas decades ago but their latest ploy is downright laughable.
DeleteDems supporting Dems. Next they'll try to tell us water is wet.
correction to 12:19 PM End of last sentence: anti equal pay, etc.
Delete@ 1:44PM they are doing the same thing here in MI.
DeleteClearly they have nothing and it appears they are using the same losing strategy nation wide.
Cory Gardner's campaign is doing those ads about Mark Udall in CO too. "Udall SUPPORTS Obamacare!" There's an ad with a tragic-looking woman talking about how difficult it is to start a small business, and healthcare decisions make that even more complicated. Then she jumps to Udall supporting Obamacare. The ad doesn't even make a logical connection between Obamacare and the difficulties of small business owners. It's completely stupid.
DeleteIt's a really close race in Colorado. I hope these kinds of ads convince enough of my reasonable neighbors to get out and vote for Udall (even if they are really only voting AGAINST a republican).
DeleteOff topic.
ReplyDeleteThe bishop was hot to trot!
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2780926/Wrath-husband-cuckolded-bishop-STILL-denies-affair.html
"After his discovery of his wife’s relationship, a shocked and heartbroken Simon employed a private eye, who discovered Olivia had spent the night with Conry on eight occasions in April and May. A subsequent Mail on Sunday investigation showed she had stayed overnight a further three times.
Simon turned to Graham Baldwin, whose charity Catalyst helps people who have been the victims of cults, religious groups and abusive therapists. Together they went to see the Catholic Vicar General, Martin Hayes, last March.
Simon says: ‘He told me the Catholic Church does not do its own internal enquiries and it goes through a public tribunal, which I did not want at that stage. I had hoped it could be resolved in private. He then suggested I confront the wife with the evidence in a counselling situation but I was reluctant to do that. I decided to wait and see.’"
He needs surgery on his own eyes first, so that he can see how he looks.

I wonder if the chamber realizes what a polished gem they have right there in Alaska to endorse candidates and scream about how Washington is broken. Yes, I'm talking about the former half Gov, Sarah "Boom Boom" Palin.
ReplyDeleteI hate when they come digging in the lower 48 for "Political Ad Stars".
Yes, Washington is broken.... by the tealibangelicals and obstructionist Congress. Ron, Rand and Sarah can't fix stupid.
We need Democrats, preferably smart and female.
