John Boehner easily wins reelection as Speaker of the House despite pathetic attempt by Teabaggers to oust him.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

The House of Representatives voted Tuesday to once again make John Boehner its speaker, handing the Ohio Republican the gavel for the third time despite a late challenge by dissatisfied members of his own party. Tuesday's vote saw the most votes against a sitting speaker since 1923.

In the final tally, Boehner received the votes of 216 House members, while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) received 164 votes. A number of discontented Republicans, however, voted for other candidates, including Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.), who, with 12 votes, got the most opposition votes from the GOP.

Sarah Palin as you all may know was pushing for anybody EXCEPT Boehner, but focused on two favorites:

Please consider "Gunnin' for Gohmert" or going "Yahoo for Yoho" when you vote for Speaker of the House today. Both Representatives are true constitutional, commonsense conservatives who've proven to America they keep their promises to We the People.

Well as it turned out Gohmert only received three votes, one that he cast, and Yoho had only two.

So once again Palin backed those sure to lose.

Story of her life.

First up: Florida Reps. Daniel Webster and Rich Nugent. The pair will be booted from their spots on the House Rules Committee, according to sources familiar with the decision. Webster ran against Boehner (R-Ohio) for speaker Tuesday, and Nugent supported his fellow Floridian.

The Rules Committee is a panel appointed by the speaker, and it controls the flow of legislation to the House floor. It’s a prestigious appointment for members who are loyal to leadership.

It took House Republicans less than a day to meltdown, as America’s most dysfunctional political disgrace has collapsed under weight of their own fighting after John Boehner is seeking revenge on those who voted against him to be Speaker of the House.

English grammar is last think Sarah Palin worries about, but I believe, if she wanted to write correctly, she'd say "they keep their promises to us, the people."

I know she thinks We the People is fancy, coming from the Constitution, but it's as phony as saying "Democrat" when you mean, and every understands, "Democratic."

Bernie Sanders Blasts Paul Ryan and House Republicans For Trying To Cook The Books

Sen. Bernie Sanders blasted an idea from Paul Ryan and other House Republicans that would justify their tax cuts for the wealthy by cooking the books and rigging how costs are counted in legislation.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has been working behind the scenes for months to try to change the way the Congressional Budget Office calculates the cost of legislation. Specifically, Ryan wants to force the CBO to use a discredit scoring method that will hide the real cost of tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

Sen. Sanders blasted the Republican plan to cook the books,

The Republicans have hatched a plan to force the CBO to cook the books and paint a rosy picture of the benefits of trickle-down economics. They call it ‘dynamic scoring.’ In fact, it’s a gimmick to help justify more tax cuts for the wealthy and profitable corporations. It’s what the first President Bush called voodoo economics – and he was right.

The purpose of dynamic scoring is to conceal – not reveal – how Republican policies will affect the economy.

      ------------------------------------------
Nonsense. It isn't about "selling her brand." Unless her brand is to be perceived as a crazy, nasty rage monkey who presents herself as a gibbering, shrieking, lying dolt.

It is about stupid, narcissistic (a deadly combination), angry, thin-skinned and damaged Palin being unable to accept any criticism whatsoever (or at least being able to fake humility) and blowing a gasket whenever anyone has the unmitigated gall to call her out for anything.

Her berserk rage over the reaction to her asinine dog post was a combination of wondering what in hell Gryphen was going to post on Monday and the fact that out of thousands and thousands of comments on her dog post, the vast majority of them were critical of her irresponsible parenting.

In addition, many of the critical posts were from fans and conservatives that should be reliably telling her how awesome she is.

When are you going to get it?

Considering what a weak leader Boehner is, I doubt it'll make a difference. The hard core right will just go totally anarchic while they're there and the only things that will get done will be everything they can think of that will hurt this country and its people. Boehner just goes along with everything they want: he is spineless.

o/t -- read about the funeral of Governor Mario Cuomo.
A man who always tried to do right for the downtrodden in his state. For whom the outpourings of sympathy are real.
Who didn't give up but served out three full four-year terms, as he'd been elected to do.
I can imagine, in his dry, East Queens, accent, what his thoughts would have been for a half-term quitter governor, who pretends to love God but who lives none of his Commandments, and who knows nothing but how to pick fights instead of finding a resolution to solve disagreements, and move everyone forward.

The custom in Italy, when a great person passes, is to stand and clap as the coffin exits the church. The Italian News was inundated with outraged people feeling Mario was more than deserving, and the media went on a blitz to explain the custom differences, which was all that was needed to explain those in attendance DID hold him in high esteem.

I wholeheartedly agree. Education, for everyone, is key to learning how to deal with mental problems and the cops have to learn that a loaded gun should never be the "First Choice" to correct a situation. Schitzophrenia is like being in a roomful of televisions, all tuned to different stations and the only voice to trust is the one that's part of the illness, the nervous system gets overloaded, and they don't even realize what they're doing. The cop's playing bang bang and being judge, jury and executioner isn't helping anyone, especially the victims AND the good cops that do their jobs well every day.
We have a cop in our family, and even he acknowledges how pervasive racism has become and how some simply don't care, shoot first, plead innocent, and ask questions later.
