A Colorado Springs man told investigators he shot himself in the foot Wednesday night because he wanted to know what it felt like, according to police.
Adam Hirtle, 30, is suspected of prohibited use of weapons, reckless endangerment and child abuse in the shooting. Sgt. James Sokolik, a police spokesman, said Hirtle was served a summons in the case and released.
Officers were called to St. Francis Hospital about 7 p.m. on reports of a man injured in an accidental gun discharge. Hirtle, however, told police the shooting was completely on purpose.
Apparently this Mensa member went out to his garage, took of his boot, shot it, and then put it back on shot his foot.
So I am pretty confident that alcohol was probably involved.
I don't know where the child abuse part comes in, but if this guy is shooting himself with guns then he is probably not a safe person to be around children.
I assume that the NRA will simply say this is just another case of a good man with a gun, stopping a bad foot with a boot. A clear case of self defense if ever there was one.
Hope he has a good health plan, one that covers self mutilation.

Too bad this jerk didn't save the taxpayers some money by eating one of his rounds. That way he could have been autopsied instead of arrested.
