Okay now run and let's see if I can hit a moving target. |
Police in Florida say a woman fatally shot her boyfriend by accident while he was teaching her to use a rifle.
The shooting happened early Thursday in their Daytona Beach Shores apartment.
According to the Daytona Beach Shores Police Department, the woman called 911 around 12:30 a.m. and told the dispatcher she unintentionally shot her boyfriend in the leg.
Police say the man was taken to Halifax Hospital in Port Orange where he was declared dead. They detained the woman for questioning but haven't said whether she'll face charges.
First off the answer my own question in the headline I'm going to say that if you shot somebody in the leg, and they died, then yes you passed the rifle shooting class.
I know that sounds a little harsh but honestly at this point, after covering so many of these so-called "accidental shootings," I am almost of the mind that if you get killed by your own gun, then you don't really deserve any sympathy.
If the woman were African American or Hispanic, she would have been charged with first-degree murdered or killed at the scene.

Yep, she would be dead right now if she was a woman of color. The police would have shot her without explanation. Emptied the gun in her. .
DeleteBTW, I don't think the girlfriend shot him by accident.
Nothing says Qualified Firearms Instructor any more clearly than conducting novice firearms training with a loaded rifle inside an apartment building.</sarc>
ReplyDeleteAt 12:30 a.m., no less.
DeleteI daresay alcohol was probably involved. At the very least on the part of the instructor.
DeleteDarwin award!
Let's see. She's female and over the age of 8, so my guess is they will throw the book at her.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see statistics on the number of people killed 'accidentally' by men and boys, as opposed to those killed by women and girls, AND the arrest reports of the same. My guess is the drunken males and the little boys just made a horrible mistake, while the females had intent to kill and thus must be locked up. They lock us up for a miscarriage, of course we deserve jail over an NRA 'accident' after midnight while drunk.
But if she's white they'll let her walk.
DeleteWho teaches their girlfriend how to shoot a rifle at midnight - in his apartment? No sympathy for idiots.
ReplyDeleteIt's called foreplay.
DeleteIt's called Jack Daniels.
DeleteTeaching someone to shoot a rifle, that's ok. In an apartment? That's beyond stupid. But it may just get you a Darwin Award.
ReplyDeleteDamn gun just went off, didn't it?
ReplyDeleteAt least they didn't kill anybody in the above, below, or beside apt. Bullet stopper. I knew these dumb fucks had to have some practical use.
ReplyDeleteThe leg-shot was accidental (she was aiming for his dick).
ReplyDeleteHere's to hoping the guy had enough time before he died to realize how stupid he was

He was teaching her to shoot in an apartment?! Thank Dog the "good guy" shooting instructor stopped the bullet before it killed someone else in the next apartment.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who lives in an apartment in gun-happy rural Georgia, stories like this are especially terrifying to me.
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean she passed?
ReplyDeleteDunno, but it's safe to say: He failed.
Yeah, she "unintentionally" killed her boyfriend. They'll buy it. They were "role playing" to add some spice in the boudoir. Nothing more sexy than slowly bleeding out from a leg wound while watching your girlfriend trying to call 911 on the remote control while daring you to call her "stupid" one more time.
ReplyDeleteNo accident is too tragic for this blog, regardless of the circumstances, the victim, or the one who unintentionally commits the irrevocable deed.
ReplyDeleteThe cynicism is a tragedy in itself. Heartless.
Consider it NRA second amendment ammosexual Schadenfreude.
DeleteI'm sure you can read much worse on the right wing blogs when it comes to the rape or death of women and children.
They're worse, so it's okay here, eh.
DeleteMaybe at least they won't cap schadenfreude.
We have now become so desensitized to gun accidents that stories such as this earn ridicule and laughter. Obviously most people don't enjoy the personal tragedy, but we are just no longer shocked by things such as this. When someone can shoot up a school full of children and months and years later little changes, it feels as if people have emotionally flatlined. Perhaps because nothing changes, they perceive their efforts to effect change as useless.
ReplyDeletePerhaps because some of us believe the only way this country will pass gun reform legislation is for the opposition to eliminate themselves one accident at a time.
