President Obama on his Alaska trip, "I've got to come back here once I'm done being President."

You have not seen the last of me Alaska.
Okay so I don't want any credit for being clairvoyant or anything but I predicted yesterday that Alaska was going to get under Obama's skin, and it seems that it has done exactly that:

Right off the bat, I’ll note that I’ve got to come back here once I’m done being President.

You just can’t see Alaska in three days.

Well that's the understatement of the year.

Look I know that for many of the people in the lower forty eight Alaska's reputation has been forever besmirched by Sarah Palin. (Why do you think we all worked so hard to distance ourselves from her?)

But Alaska is truly a unique place, whose beauty transcends ideology or political differences.

Sure we have perhaps more than our fair share of lunatics and stupid people, but this is a VERY big state. Fd you don't want to see them, trust me you won't see them.

But if instead you want to meet the nicest, most giving people anywhere, well you really cannot avoid meeting them.

Because they are everywhere.

And the scenery?

Yeah, well you would be hard pressed top beat our scenery.

So of course President Obama is coming back. How could he not?

And just like he will not be able to forget us, we also will not be able to forget him.

Sadly for him however the portion of his trip that will be forever ingrained in our memories is the time the fish jizzed on his boots.

Because THAT was too damn funny!

  1. I don't think I've ever seen President Obama look so happy in photos in a long time . . . . .
And most definitely the fish thing was hilarious!

I have to admit because I sometimes have the humor of a stoned teen-age boy I did crack up over the fish, erm, thing. At least President Obama wasn't wearing a blue dress.

And he looks just precious with those little kids.

I noticed that also. He looks so relaxed and happy with that grin he has that makes me weak in the knees.

Clearly the people loved him and his enormous effort to bring attention to their needs. Who knows, maybe it'll turn Alaska blue, now would that be a kick in the ass to the witch from wasilla.

So now Alaska can be proud again with her out of the picture. In those 3 days did her name come up ANYWHERE, by ANYONE? Not one person, one reporter, NO ONE spoke her name, and that is such a GOOD THING! She thought she 'owned' Alaska, but it become very clear she is barely an afterthought by it's citizens. They will forever remember their president singing their praises to the world.

    4. Gryph,
I figured the same, he will be back. Right about now he is scouring Amazon for everybook on Alaska so I sent him a couple of suggestions, A wolf called Romeo, and Among Wolves by Gordon Haber (who died when his plane crashed in Denali in 09). Yep! Alaska gets under your skin and there is NO PLACE like it anywhere. And now its "Obama's Alaska"! I am more impressed than ever at how Alaska rolled the red carpet out for him, beaming smiles everywhere! Everyone so nice to him. Yep he will be back. Alaska gets under your skin. You can't visit just once and its like a Fever! LOL!

A idiot from the ADN posted Pissy's blog and everyone ignored it or comments were basically for her to STFU, etc.
The Payme's REALLY embarrassed themselves by not being in the state and being chickenshit and hiding out, and squeezing that turd of a blog post out by Sarah/Bitchol.
Really, could she be anymore stupid?
Unless the SS &FBI etc told her and Tawdry to stay away. But still that blog post was so childish and sour grapes whining....she should be so flippin' embarrassed. But we all know, YOU can't embarrass a palin. The Brawl, the Fake baby belly, fake blow up butt & boobs. Its is simply not possible to embarrass them. To be embarrassed you must have a brain & awareness which they LACK completely.

I would suggest you write/email the new Gov and tell him how you feel. You may be surprised. I get free AK mags, cruiseship offers b/c my views are similar to yours. In spite of what a few trollish types talk, AK depends on tourist biz. Oil and tourist THAT is IT.
Email that Gov. You may be surprised especially now that there is one with a brain at the helm.

I live in Maryland. My husband and I recently took an RV trip through the Southwest as far as Las Vegas over four weeks this summer. Has anyone RV'd from thelower 48 to Alaska. Can anyone relate must-see places or tips if one would RV that far? Thanking you in advance.

Yes I have. My advice to you would be to take an extra spare tire on a rim so you have two tires for your RV. Also, if you don't have a motorcoach and are towing a travel trailer or 5th wheel, also bring two spares ( both on rims) for your tow vehicle. Be prepared for the RV Parks to be much more basic than the ones you most likely stay at in the lower 48 and if you have a big rig you may be very limited on your choices.
Enjoy yourself, give yourself lots of time, I would try for more than 4 weeks though.

President Obama we would love to roll out the "Welcome Back To Alaska President Obama" red carpet, but make sure you bring a detail of Secret Service agents to cockblock the Palins.

We know you read about the Palin Family Drunken Brawl and how the Palins fell out of their stretched white limo and disturbed a neighborhood block party.

PS, make sure your agents are not any of the infamous 2008 Secret Service agents that was up here with you know who. You don’t want the SS agents that can be blackmailed into looking the other away by Wasilla's Pimp Daddy. We want you to be safe while visiting.

BREAKING! Her faux christianist bigoted sorry ass is going to jail...INDEFINITELY! Let's see how long she holds out when REALITY bites her bullshit 'stance' on gay marriage. I bet she doesn't last a fortnight.Kim Davis, the defiant Kentucky county clerk, was found in contempt of court and taken into federal custody.

U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning ordered Davis, the Rowan County clerk, to be jailed on the contempt charges until she agrees to comply with multiple court orders to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The judge ordered her held indefinitely because he did not believe fines would be enough to compel her to follow the law because he suspected her supporters would pay those penalties.

      One County, One Flock

Bill Walker stood patiently in one corner of the Rowan County Clerk’s Office until the crowds and cameras had left the building and moved into an adjacent parking lot.

He walked over to the service desk and, after several minutes, said: “Excuse me.”

“We’re not giving out marriages licenses today,” said Kim Davis.

“I just came in to renew my driver’s license,” said Walker.

“Oh,” said Kim. “That’s alright. What kind of car do you drive?”

“My wife and I each drive a Buick,” said Walker. “Why?”

“I’m sorry,” said Ms. Davis. “I can’t renew your license.”

      “Why not?” asked Walker.

“Because,” said Kim, waving a worn black Bible, “it says right here in the Book of Acts that Jesus wants all of his disciples to be in one Accord.”

A HUGE Darn DILL!!! "We hope obama see's her name everytime he see's her face" bla, bla, bla. Now I'm really sorry that happened to her, but GUN CONTROL! How many have to die before something is done? She happens to be ONE of the MANY!
They really are asinine and retarded and stupid. In San Francisco as with any big city there are killings every night. Mostly gun related. But this ONE...this people are nutz. That's all I can say.

From what I've seen, Alaskans don't like being asked "do you know Sarah palin?" One person said something like "it sucks when you have to say yes I do and she used to be cool."

Even Governor Hickel voted for her and hosted her celebration at the Captain Cook after she won.

But, he grew to really dislike her, after he saw her in action, and stated so!

But she never fooled her family. They've always known about her dark, vicious behavior. And now. Well, money. Makes a difference. Keeps 'em coming back. They'd all be long gone if she didn't have the dollars. And Todd, well, let's just say both he and Sarah have so much shit on each other that there's just no legal separation that will work. Of course, they live separately, but the legal ties will bind them and their dysfunction forever and ever until death parts one of them. And, oooooooooh boy. The tell-all will be a doozy. Nice try but she was kicked out. She spent nearly a year living in Arizona so she's been away from AK for longer than the 8 weeks she lived in KY.

@1:20 PM One well known born again breeder just chose Alaska because her baby bump scam was exposed, and Dakota sent her packing. Bristol Palin became addicted to AK AFTADARK.

I was so happy to see the POTUS have a wonderful reception accompanied by (mostly) perfect weather. I grew up on the East Coast and my parents vacationed in AK every other year so from the time I was barely walking I'd already vacation in here. I remember absolutely falling in love with the place on a vacation that coincided with my 12th birthday. We've cruised it, flew it, spent 2 weeks hiking the Brooks Range and spent weeks at remote fishing lodges. One summer, after deciding not to return to grad school, I just told my parents, that I was buying a house and staying and it's been 25 glorious years. I have to go back east at least twice per year and I tell ya it gets a lot more difficult to handle the crowds as the years in AK pass. Same with Seattle, I go down to visit family every other month and wow, I don't know how people can live so closely crowded. Nice places to visit but AK does something to your soul! I love this place and love sharing it with visitors each summer, and hey, with these new warmer winters it's a whole different ballgame, more Seattle weather without the crowds!

You can be sure he'll be back with his family but I hope he'll be back in some official capacity also too, where folks have a chance to meet him without the POTUS baggage.

Been to Alaska a few times, everyone needs to put it on their bucket list. The first we went for three months, and it was three months too short. Don't recommend the Cruises, yeah, they cram a lot in a little time, but you don't get to experience real Alaska.
Love seeing the President's visit, and his purpose is to put global warming front and center. But what I love most is seeing him at his best, among the people, and especially his interactions with kids (and fish).
I'm glad he'll be back after his Presidency is over, he can take his time and explore Alaska's unique landscape, ecosystem, and most of all, it's diverse peoples.
I just hope he doesn't have to sputter into and out of places like Sitka in one of those tiny planes. That took some getting used to!

Yes, Mr. Pr, you must go back! I visited in 1996 and was stunned by the expansive beauty. I thought then and still think: "It looks like God just took it out of the box!"

And the people are pretty cool, too!

The Commander in Chief just left Alaska. He spoke so highly of the Last Frontier! It's nice when others get a glimpse of God's awesome creation up here, so rich in American oil, gas, minerals and other overflowing natural resources that, once tapped, could secure the Union and make America safe and prosperous again, with jobs a'plenty. If only…

    WTF?

"... natural resources that, once tapped, could secure the Union and make America safe and prosperous ..."

Secure the union? The Alaska Independence Party wanted Alaska to secede from the Union!

Sarah Palin if Todd was successful you may have been the Queen of the Country of Alaska.

This the same bitch who gave a welcome video message to Todd's buddy the Alaska Independence Party. The AIP that wanted Alaska to separate from the Union? Bitch you're all fucked up and talking out of both sides of your ass.
