A home shopping channel for firearms and relevant accessories called Gun TV is scheduled to launch in early 2016.
The channel, which will film in a studio in California's Coachella Valley, plans to launch with six hours of daily programming and later expand to 24/7 programming, according to the Desert Sun newspaper. The programming will initially air between 1 and 7 a.m.
As The Guardian reported, a wholesaler will ship the firearm to the buyer's closest federally licensed gun retailer. The retailer will then complete the mandatory background checks and other paperwork.
The channel plans to sell ammunition, accessories and apparel, according to reports.
“We saw an opportunity in filling a need, not creating one," a channel co-founder told the Guardian. "The vast majority of people who own and use guns in this country, whether it’s home protection, recreation or hunting, are responsible."
Well I guess we can take some solace in the fact that there will at least be background checks.
After all it's not like a person who legally purchased a firearm, and successfully passed a background check, has ever murdered somebody.
Oh.....wait.
So I guess gun related deaths are not ending any time soon, right?
"We saw an opportunity in filling a need, not creating one...."
ReplyDeleteA NEED? Yeah, right. Like there aren't enough dealers - both legal and non-legal - already in existence. Why don't they just SAY they saw a way of making more money and be honest about it? (Rhetorical question!)
This is just terrible. This country is just saturated with firepower. God help us all.
ReplyDeleteThat should not be allowed. Is it the FCC that regulates television? If so, that body or whichever body has the authority, needs to end this before it begins. How obscene. As obscene as yesterday's Senate vote where the NRA controlled members of the Senate chose not to require vetting of those on terror watch lists before they can buy weapons like those used the other day in San Bernardino.

1AM to 7AM? Guess they are going for the drunk and disorderly coming home, turning on the TV, and handing over their credit card numbers? All they need is Host Sarah Palin!! Wanna take bets on this being her new gig? She could move the whole Klan to LA, and only have to work nights. She'd have the days to jet around to her sparse speaking engagements. They could pay her in pink rifles and lace engraved ammo. Yes, I am serious. She and Teddy (Cruz or Nuge, either one, they are both insane) could sell millions.
ReplyDeleteIn a world with so many gun deaths, this whole thing really really disgusts me.
Sooner or later someone who is on the terror watch list will legally purchase a firearm that's then used in a massacre like the one in California this week. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.
ReplyDeleteWhen it does, all those spineless little pissboys of the NRA (including a few Dems) who voted to allow suspected terrorists to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights will have no place left to hide. I hope to God they will finally be held accountable for their crimes against the people of this country.
On Vicars at the time of his arrest was a knife and a pistol. At his home, police found an additional loaded assault rifle, a ballistic body armor vest, 8,300 rounds of high-capacity ammunition, a fake U.S. Marshal badge, a U.S. Marshal ID card, a U.S. Marshal parking pass, and another bullet proof vest marked “POLICE Federal Agent.”
ReplyDeleteIn short, Vicars had loaded himself up with enough guns and ammo to go on a substantial shooting rampage, then provided himself with enough falsified identification to enter nearly any secured area – including airports – in the country.

Licensed Poster Boy For The NRA Shoots And Kills A 7-Year-Old Girl In Cold Blood (VIDEO)
ReplyDeleteWhen 57-year-old Timothy Obeshaw approached the vehicle of his friend and one-time roommate Sharon Watson, 39, at a sportsplex in Taylor, Michigan, she could have had no way of knowing that Obeshaw, a gun enthusiast who was licensed to carry, would snap and use his legally purchased firearm to murder her daughter.

The New York Times has decided to do something it hasn’t done in 95 years in order to protest the rampant plague of gun violence in America. On Saturday, December 5th, the times features an editorial on gun violence on A1, the front page.

Immediately after Barack Obama was legally elected in 2008, gun and ammo sales started escalating. People (and I use that term lightly) began hoarding ammo and survivalist gear. Word was spreading through conservative websites and Fox News that the 'socialist Muslim' was coming for 'your guns.' Violence and domestic shootings have gone through the roof. And yet, cons say that Obama has divided the country. My husband has a few rifles and a 357 Whatever, and no one nobody zilch has 'come to take them away. Maybe 'they' just haven't gotten to our house yet.
ReplyDeleteCute cartoon, but a total ripoff of a National Lampoon cover.
ReplyDeleteI guess something original was just too hard.
All of this call-to-arm nonsense is going to ultimately backfire. Most people are not trained shooters and never will be. Even those who are relatively mentally stable don't have the training in dangerous situations to evaluate in a split-second what action to take next. Our prisons don't have the capacity to hold all of those who will go over the line and just shoot because they over-reacted or just plain lost their temper.
