The moment Bernie Sanders learned that President Obama had endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Yeah pretty clear he did not see that coming.

Later this same day Sanders gave a speech which the Huffington Post described as "Divorced from Reality."

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Bernie Sanders delivered his typical stump speech at a campaign rally Thursday evening, choosing not to acknowledge President Barack Obama’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton, his meeting with the president, or Clinton’s claim to have won enough delegates for the Democratic nomination.

“Next Tuesday, here in Washington, you will be having the very last primary of the Democratic nominating process,” Sanders told a crowd outside Robert F. Kennedy Stadium. “It would be extraordinary if the people of Washington, our nation’s capital, stood up and told the world that they are ready to lead this country into a political revolution.”

Later in that same speech Sanders made the comment "When I am President."

WTF?

And remember this came right after he assured the press that he would be working WITH Hillary Clinton to defeat Donald Trump.

Washington D.C. has 20 pledged delegates up for grabs, so obviously it can have no real impact on the nominating process. (Which is already over!)

There are also 26 super delegates ALL of whom are already going for Hillary Clinton. (Which also does not matter because Hillary Clinton already won!)

Lately there has been some criticism directed at me for not being more "diplomatic" or for not handling the sensitive feelings of the poor disappointed Bernie Sanders supporters with more care.

Seriously?

Every single day on this blog, that I created all by my lonesome, I get insulted repeatedly and called every name in the book. When did I ever go crying to anybody about my hurt little feelings?

This is politics, which is about the closest thing to the Roman gladiator games that you can get without actually getting stabbed or hit with a large club. (Two things by the way that have actually happened to me.)

In my opinion the Bernie Sanders supporters should have seen the writing on the wall months ago, and seen through Bernie's bullshit much much earlier.

If you failed to do that it is certainly not my job to make you feel better about your stupidity, it is my job to rub your nose in it so you do not do anything that ignorant again.

And for that you are welcome.

If Sanders didn't know that Obama was going to endorse Clinton, he was deluding himself.

It was clear from the New York Times report over the weekend that Obama's endorsement was imminent. Though we don't know what Obama and Sanders talked about at the White House, the president's endorsement of Clinton was certainly a topic that came up.

Simply put, the writing was on the wall. The president had let Sanders know through the media and then in person that Clinton, not Sanders, would have his backing.

I think it's important to mention that Obama's video endorsement was recorded on Tuesday, before the polls closed in New Jersey and California. Obama wants off the sidelines bad.

I find Mohammed Ali to be far more inspirational than Bernie Sanders ever was!

Ali did so many outstanding things throughout his life time. For our country and for the world! Especially favored the fact he was anti war and very public about it!

      May he RIP!

These berniebros need to put their manpants on and grow a pair. This is not beanbag.

I voted for Hillary in the 2008 primary, but never did I utter a word of negativity about Obama's prospects as an effective president even though at the time I had no idea what he would do as president. I knew a lot was on the line, but I also knew any and all republicans would be far worse. By the way, President Obama has far exceeded my expectations, and I believe history will treat his legacy very well.

By the way, I also take some flack for my opinions about dyslexia. I admire what you do and want to thank you from my heart for having true courage to do what you do. I know it can not be easy.

You have a healthy ego Gryphen. Too healthy sometimes. I think you're so used to commenters here over the years stroking your ego; that you don't quite know what to do when people disagree with your point of view, whether they do it respectfully or not.

You have been bashing Bernie supporters over the head with a hammer and now you are gloating and driving the nail in. You are also whining now. Poor beat up Gryphen. Always right. Always under appreciated.

Thought you would be more gracious, but I probably should have known better.

Each individual will weigh their options and vote according to their conscience whether it suits you or not. You don't have to like it.

I know you are trying to sway people toward your point of view, and given the stupidity of most of the people who comment on your blog; I can understand your concern.

I am a Hillary supporter but your asshole attitude against people that want to explore something different is even getting on my last good nerve.

Well said. I come from generations of Democrats and I can't vote for Hillary for the following:

She is going to continue the same ruinous neoliberal economics that have wrecked the US and global economy.

She is a hawk and allied with Robert Kagan and Victoria Nuland, husband and wife, deans of the Washington neocons who will continue to escalate our illegal and immoral wars with a very dangerous possibility of embroiling us in a world-wide conflict.

She is another politician beholden to the moneyed class who really control the country. As many have noted we have an non-functioning democracy, with money controlling the political process and decision making in Washington.

It would be interesting to see what Gryphen will have to say after Hillary is in office a while. Her record is dismal, and her political affiliations have always been with the ruling military-industrial complex as evidenced by her record and alliance with the Democrat Leadership Council as well.

@8:45 Ad hominem attacks add nothing to the discussion, nor solve the problem.

If you want understand why the Democratic party, presumably the party you support, is in free fall read about its history-- and the takeover of both parties by big money. It's hardly a rant, as it's a factual description of a reality we are all now enduring-- supported a raft of by evidence.

Blindly voting for Hillary Clinton, for whatever reasons, will not solve any of the current problems. Without pressure from progressives, and without diplomacy on the world stage, our problems here and abroad will get worse--no matter what rhetoric powers-that-be and their adherents use to spin things.

@2:08 I was responding to the poster 8:54 who wrote "seek help" and "you are incapable of incorporating new information," both are examples of ad hominems that are are also derogatory, dismissive, patronizing.

Calling information and opinions you don't agree with "screeds and rants" is expressing your opinion, but not the equivalent of answering or debating issues of importance that were raised, like what US foreign and domestic policy will be.

If you choose not to address any of the issues raised, there is nothing to discuss. So why the attacks? Just skip the posts.

"Ad hominem" means, in Latin: "to the man." An ad hominem use is not always fallacious in logic. Noting your illogical inability to process new information or process information in rebuttals--as in evidence in comments here-- is factual. Smart people are finished debating anti-Hillary commenters here because the stakes are so high now (Trump)--especially those commenters like you who merely regurgitate the same old rightwing smears that have been around and debunked for 30 years. We tire of your spreading rightwing propaganda when we're trying to stop a racist fascist from getting the nuclear codes. With respect: Peace.

They should not be mocked for that. They should be welcomed with open arms to the Hillary side, and those who do will deserve respect in my book for putting the country first. Yuck, did I just quote McCain?) I supported Hillary in 2008, and switched to Obama as soon as the writing was on the wall. I was never mocked and called names, but welcomed. Little did I know then just how great a president he would make! Mocking is immature, folks, right? She has blatantly used those children over the years; that is what people have criticized, including me. Examples include posting photos of Trig, whom many people think is not Sarah Palin's biological child, standing on his "service" dog and joking about it or using Piper as a kind of human shield on the ludicrous 2012 bus trip around part of the country when the child clearly did not want any part of it. Those are the things that have been criticized here. The older kids have been criticized directly only for their outrageous behavior or, in Bristol's case, for her hypocrisy and idiot Nancy Frenchified posts on morality and politics, both subjects about which Bristol knows nothing.

Given that he asked Obama to hold off endorsing Clinton until after the Thursday meeting, yeah, he knew it was coming. He knew on Sunday when Obama flat-out told him he was going to do it after Tuesday.

Sanders is entitled to keep going through the DC primary, but I don't think losing by 60 points or more in the District is the best way to go out. It will be, however, a fitting final reminder of how overwhelmingly white the Sanders "revolution" has been.

I think it was mean of reporters to pounce on Bernie Sanders as he heard the news of President Obama's endorsement. Of course he should not have been surprised but he should have been given a chance to take it in privately.

I also don't think that Gryphen has been particularly cruel or unfair to Bernie Sanders' supporters who have commented here. It's been the supporters themselves who have been frequently too over the top and, at the same time, narrow minded. They seemed not to understand that one or the other candidate was going to win. Hillary Clinton was never "the enemy"; she was the other candidate with a very liberal background and extensive experience in government.

It's been a torturously long primary season but all the signs pointed to a probable loss for Bernie Sanders at least a month ago. All of us who want to have a Democrat in the White House and Democrats leading the Senate and more numerous in the House come January 2017 have to work together now.

It wasn't news, Beag. Sanders knew well in advance it was happening. He just can't have an unexpressed moment of anger, the irascible old thing.

Clinton, Obama and others take the high road. Not all of the followers are so inclined. It happened with Bernie, too. All those still in the mud are the same whether it is for Bernie or Clinton politics.

The orange Screaming Yam doesn't stand a chance. (Unless Democrats snatch defeat from the jaws of victory).

Imagine how pissed POTUS must have been, to have been forced to take matters into his own hands.

I can't wait for this show to hit the road. I have my summer Democratic rally wardrobe all ready to go- I'll be wearing the brightest colors known to science, to make sure that the Drumpfers don't miss me.

At first I was shocked, then I was saddened- and ultimately disgusted- by some of the behavior of Sanders and his campaign and his followers.

Bernie Sanders' dismissal of the POTUS endorsement of Hillary Clinton lends credence to the saying "there's no fool like an old fool".

Sanders seems to be making it quite plain that he's in it for the money. I suspect that has been the motivation of Jane from Accounting for some time now.

I was a Bernie supporter and saw the writing on the wall last Feburary/ March. After that I didn't like the way he held on even though it was inevitable he wouldn't win. It cost HRC a lot of money to continue to fight him. They need to work together now to defete tRump and all the nothing's in congress and the senate.

Whatever, this latest pronouncement of yours just sends a lot of us to write Bernie in or Gary Johnson or anyone but Hillary.

Not that it matters. The Electoral College chooses the POTUS, not us, our votes don't count so it's an exercise in futility.

Not sure why anyone follows the race closely when it is out of our hands.

I think a lot of Bernie Sanders' supporters must not understand much about how political campaigns work out. Someone wins and others lose. In the general election you vote for the candidate on the ballot who best represents what you want for the country. In the general election for Democrats or liberal-minded people, that will be Hillary Clinton. The other option is Donald Trump unless the GOP dumps him at their convention. If you are a liberal or any kind of progressive person in the White House and all you do is waste your vote on a write-in, then you might as well have voted for Donald Trump. And you ask yourself if you ever really were a Democrat.

"Our votes don't count." This might be the stupidest thing posted here all week. The electoral college bases its votes on the popular vote in each state. Whomever gets the majority gets that state's electoral votes. Period.*

I am seriously over the lack of knowledge many Sanders fans have about the political process. There is zero excuse for being this fucking ignorant.

*Maine and Nebraska divide their electoral votes by district. Same principle applies: majority popular vote in the district gets the electoral vote.

If you had read the golden tablets. It said Hilary is the chosen one. But the burn? Well the burn is in the cards for VP. And he should be. Millions of voters should not be dismissed. That would be a terrible mistake
And dangerously disconnected. I lean center left and I think Senator Sanders did a great job and Hilary should nominate him as her VP.

If you followed his campaign, you show a rather odd ignorance of their former slogan. It's "the Bern." And no one but you wants him to be VP. Not even Bernie wants it.

if he can't handle a campaign without whining or trying to CHEAT the system, how the fuck is he supposed to handle the presidency and other world leaders? Same as trump... it;s all someone else's fault he isn't getting what he wants (and does NOT deserve). Big fucking cry baby.
