Night Four of the Democratic Convention Open Thread. Update!

So here we are, on the last night folks.

And so far this convention has been incredibly inspiring and even fun to watch.

Comparing it to the RNC convention last week does not even seem fair at this point since it is head and shoulders above that trainwreck we witnessed in Cleveland.

Even the ratings make that point. In fact they are so good that the Donald Trump campaign is pleading with people to skip tonight:

On Thursday morning, Trump's campaign sent a fund-raising email urging supporters not to tune into Clinton's acceptance speech on Thursday night.

"Unless you want to be lied to, belittled, and attacked for your beliefs, don't watch Hillary's DNC speech tonight," the email read. "Instead, help Donald Trump hold her accountable, call out her lies and fight back against her nasty attacks."

(Remember folks that Republicans live in the land of opposites, so when they say you are being lied to they really are afraid somebody is telling potential voters the truth. Can't have that now can we?)

Most of the big name speakers have already had their turn on stage, but tonight the candidate herself gets to speak so that should be good too.

However it is really going to have to pull out the stops to beat a moment like this from last night.

I'm just saying.

 Earlier this happened.
Those are 12 Women in the Senate coming out in support of Hillary Clinton.

Not a bad endorsement. and certainly not something Donald Trump could manage to pull off.

Update:
Seems fair.

Gryphen, I have never seen an election campaign filled with such vitriol as this one! How does that SOB and his enablers get away with it? Oh, I forgot; the corporate-owned media enable them by controlling the message, thus giving them a free pass!. A small correction - the RNC hate-fest was in Cleveland, not Cincinnati.

During primary season, Trump got twice the media coverage than the two Democratic candidates combined. Trump is largely a creation of the mainstream media. They thrive on his meanness, incivility and ignorance.

I hope those assbutt Hillary Supporters don't ruin everything for Hillary, her speech and her other supporters.

Hillary made peace with her rival and she is still for freedom of speech and all that the last I knew.

It is not her fault people that claim to support her can ruin things for her. Some Hillary supporters do not even have a clue about conventions.

    from Andrew's comments thread:

    '9:38 p.m. A reader writes:

I live in Sydney, Australia. I’m not an American citizen but truly believe that this election is not just a matter for democracy in America, but for democracies across the world.

Here in Australia we have already seen the re-election of Pauline Hanson, a One Nation senator who has adopted both the rhetoric of Trump and his policy for banning all Muslim immigration. Last week we had two media personalities announce their support for such a ban, making their own stand against ‘political correctness’ whilst spouting their right to free speech.

His position as the Republican nominee has already had far reaching consequences on the global stage, and his toxicity is spreading. Americans need to remember that people across the world are looking to them to stop Trump, people who have no control over the outcome of the American election but who will have deal with the inevitable consequences. It’s astonishing and horrifying that he has got this far.'

Now is the time for every voter to decide between Hillary and the Don. If yoy like being able to access BC and abortion if necessary I would vote vote Hillary.
If you care about minimum wage or workers rights I would vote for Hillary.
Now you may have a very different opinion and that is okay. I no longer need BC nor the minimum wage. I am retired and have dual citizenship and own housing in 3 different countries. I have a retirement fund that can finance me until the end of my days. Figure out where your life is going and who you want to vote for. Personally I don't need to either march or fight for either of the 2 things I listed.
This campaign is solely on the shoulders of the younger generation, these are things YOU need not me.
With great choices come great responsibilities and I hope ou remember your actions aren't just for you but the next 2 generations.
It's now on your shoulders and not those that came before you, now is the time to choose but not just for yourself.
Think long, think hard, because your vote isn't just for you, it is for your generation and the next.
I am too old and don't have the energy to fight for your rights any longer, but I can leave the country and be comfortable for the rest of my life. I think you really need to look into what a Trump vote will do to YOU ( not me, I'll be okay)
It is a huge responsibility and it is yours and and yours alone. Think what type of America you want to wake up to, think what type of America you want to live under for the next 8 yrs.
I have been very vocal this campaign season, but at this point it is not in my hands but those of the younger generation. Chose wisely because it is your choice who leads this nation for the next 8 yrs ( yes, I am convinced whomever is elected now will be re-elected in 4 yrs).
You can pass on over my post, you can read it and laugh, but I am hoping you will read it and think.

And this year we have the chance to tell the GOP and Donald Trump that we REJECT their divisiveness and ignorance of what this country is all about and to TAKE ON the challenge to build on what President Obama has achieved. Let's elect as many Democrats to Congress and to state and local office as possible. Otherwise, we may not have the chance to do it again.

To all the Hillary haters trolling this thread-ours is a democratic nation-we vote for our leaders. Understand the sore feelings about the leaked dnc emails BUT this isn't anything new folks. Bermpnie and others have said from the beginning that the DNC /DWS was stacking the deck in Hillary's favor right?

My question for you is this-why didn't you all get out the vote for Bernie? We heard all through the primary how his rallies were YOOGE right? We heard how he raised the most money from small donations ever right? So without any complaints about open primaries vs. Closed vs. Caucuses because all of this was in place when he announced his campaign-why didn't you get out the vote and win? You lost popular vote race. You lost electoral votes. Instead of then accepting the democratic win-you wanted to change rules/fight on the floor and hope Hillary would be indicted for something/anything.

Clinton won. Sanders lost. That is indisputable. Then Hillary met with Bernie and worked out a platform and compromise. She didn't turn her back on him or on all of you. This entire convention has been inclusive of all of you and many tributes were paid to Sanders.

The returned favor is to disrupt, burn flags, heckle, walk out, vow to vote Jill Stein, and much more.

Bernie Sanders told all of you Trump must not be president and he asked all of you to vote for Hillary and he asked you all to stop with the disruptions. After sticking by him through the entire hard fought primary now-NOW you decide to go against him.

      Silly season indeed.

Republicans have been on the Clinton's case since before before. None of it is new.

Contrast that to the Trump show, where people who disagreed either weren't welcomed to even attend, or were thrown out. One of these conventions is more like the America I know.

And she was introducing what she would like to accomplish as president. Let's give her the Congress she needs. President Clinton was denied that twice in mid-term elections. Let's not allow that to happen again. Democrats, let's vote for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. Let's send the naysaying, mean-spirited GOP members of Congress packing in November!

Trump says he would like to 'hit' DNC speakers who disparaged him

(CNN) Donald Trump, after hearing speeches at the Democratic convention this week, said Thursday he wanted to "hit a number of those speakers so hard, their heads would spin."

    "They'd never recover," he said.
Trump often uses the term "hit" to mean verbally attack, rather than physical contact.

The Republican nominee zoomed in on one speaker especially, though he didn't mention his name.

Gee, lots of Trump trolls here today. I wonder why?

Hillary Clinton and the Democrats really won the prize for a hard-fought issue-driven campaign and convention and a message of what really matters in life and in politics. As elected officials and ordinary citizens spoke, one after another, and real entertainers entertained, I thought about how shallow and idea-empty the RNC convention had been. Meanness and negativity are a poor substitute for vision and ideas.

The GOP has not had a forward-moving idea in decades. They have not been willing to join with Democrats to make this country and the world a better place in decades. President Clinton, when the GOP wasn't trying to force him out of office, was the last Democratic president the GOP was willing to cooperate with - once in a while. The racism, cynicism and meanness that enveloped the GOP convention showed just how dreadful their years of sedition have been.
